I'm in the market for an arcade stick for retro gaming but I know I'm not gonna use it often enough to justify spending 200CAD or more on one so this review is great for me, appreciate you covering budget options.
Ey this is what I love to do. Dont tell my wife I am spending a crap ton of money on this lol If you want to get one that's decent got the Mayflash F300
I feel like anything in the very cheap price range when it comes to fight sticks is literally pointless to get cause the quality is so bad that a standard ps4 controller feels so much more amazing in comparison, I feel like with arcade sticks you either make one yourself where you cheap out on everything but the quality of the buttons & stick, or you just bite the bullet & buy a high end expensive one from hori or something. Anything else just isn’t worth the money or effort even if it’s way cheaper cause it doesn’t make up for the quality being so much worse
Some things to add: -The shaft is longer than the standard JLF levers, it actually has similar height to korean levers. -M1-M2 buttons are in the main layout (though you can switch them with the L2-R2 connectors). -Like any other arcade, you can install only a low collar korean lever. -Low weight, kind of small.
Hi, do you think any of the options you mentioned as alternatives support so many systems as well (Android, iOS, PC)? and do they have bluetooth as well? Last time I checked, most of the alternatives were wired and much bulkier compared to this model, it seemed.
If you want something wireless with Bluetooth I would recommend the 8BitDo Arcade Stick. This one right here does the USB-C thing I don't think that's what you would want. These days most arcade sticks are going to have at least the big 3 PS4 PS5 PC. I don't think there is a reason to go further than that. If you are looking for that I would recommend a DIY route that way, you can have PCB that does it all. My argument/question would be, why would you want a wireless arcade stick, or for that matter, why are we playing on Android? Most people aren't playing their games there. They are playing on PlayStation and PC, where you plug your device in to prevent latency or dropped inputs. Are you looking to play games on your android?
@@basicallysnake I mean sure but we are talking about an arcade stick for fighting games. So you are taking your android and your arcade stick and using them together? IDK man most people arent doing that with their arcade stick. regular controller sure why not play on android until your heart is content it makes more sense.

11:20 i just want a cheap fight stick my ps4 controller cant do a quater circle in tekken i dont how the quality if it work with no input lag and i can do combos with it sure thats a good starter than buying 6k ( Philippine pesos)for a danm mayflash This controller is 1k which is is cheaper i just wanna know if it has imput lag and or how durable it is
There's a joystick that looks just like this, but much smaller. I was thinking of using it as part of a mini arcade cabinet, rather than having to build a tiny joystick from scratch and connect it to an encoder. Would this be good enough for the simple stuff, your Donkey Kongs and Galagas and what not?
I just bought the Mayflash F500 Elite and I must say, it's damn near perfect. Immediately opened it up and threw in the 8 way diagonal gate and it's like I'm back at the arcade beating scrubs in SFII CE. (actually just my vs my kids and theyre using an xbox controller) I'm holding out hope now that Mayfair does an F700 Elite (would be wireless with Sanwa stick and buttons). That'd be my companion arcade stick for when friends are over. Price-wise they are fairly competitive vs the more expensive sticks and what you're actually getting to justify those high prices.
Yeah I have a mayflesh. Maybe I will review that next that may be worth discussing. It is also a great controller. Are there better things out there? Yeah, sure, but it def gets the job done while not hurting your pockets.
Great review! Imo the most important part of a cheap Arcade Stick is how well the case is made (does it make noises if you grind the gears harder), how compatible the PCB is and how easy you can change Stick and Buttons (over the years I have collected a lot of buttons and levers). But the shaft of the lever seams to be a bit longer here than a JLF Lever, depending on the Throw this can be a good thing for bigger hands. I have average hands and a JLF with a Battop is to short (I prefer the caveman lever grip), my preferred lever right now is the Seimitsu LS-56-MS which has a longer shaft and a tighter spring compared to other Seimitsu levers.
Throwing around balls and shafts a lot there lol JK, but have you tried getting a lever shaft for the new JLX. It's not had at all. The problem I have with the Seimitsu levers is that they can be so bulky. As an admitted DIY snob, I am not a fan of them because I have to make my cases thicker.
@@MDSoulTV Yeah, it's all about balls and shafts since Street Fighter IV (this is where I started customizing, trying different things). Yes, I tried the JLX, imo it is "snappier" than the JLF (but maybe my old JLF is just worn down). And I checked the length of the LS-56, and the shaft is longer compared to my LS-60 (which came with a shorter shaft), but about the same length like the JLX/F, difference is the Mounting Plate, I need a S mounting plate for my JLX, and a 2 pound spring, and a circle gate.
@@MDSoulTV To me it's harder to get a dp motion on an octagonal gate, easier on square, circle feels quite nice. Learning the diagonals is with every gate hard, without riding the gate. But I also need to tell ya I'm a terrible player, I'm 43 years old and slow af, but having fun playing fighting games.
I am not that much younger so we are in the same boat. I ride the mess out of the gate with no shame!!! We can shamelessly love FGs and be horrible together lol @@Wast1980VG

Did you test out the macro feature of the controller I’m interested to see how that works
No, I didn’t. I typically don’t use macros so I didn’t mess with it at all.
I did, its the expected for a macro button. I modified them so they're Parry and Drive Impact for SF6 as L2-R2 buttons are in the top of the arcade
