I have 4 of Carlos's systems. I still need to finish the fourth build. Carlos gives great customer support. I have to admit I haven't finished my fourth build and have had the PC waiting to be fired up for over three years. Covid and my move to Florida derailed my arcade builds. Hoping to get back on track in a couple months. I'm glad to see Carlos bought recroom masters! good for him!!!! You go Carlos!!!
I have a wrestlefest inspired recroommasters cabinet that we got right before the pandemic and I absolutely adore it. Still looks brand new. So glad to see that the company is back in quality and name.
I bought mine 6 years when Wayne was in charge and still use it often. It has held up incredibly well over the years. The buttons and sticks are still working great after all this time and that is 6 years of use! I highly recommend buying one if you are on the fence about it. You won't be disappointed.
I had 2 "rec room masters" cabinets & I love them, also I had 9 arcade 1ups & neo Geo mvsx arcade & arcade 1up modded arcade with an original Xbox with thousands of games and hundreds of emulators on it
OG modded Xbox with coinops was so great. I have a cabinet that I built from scratch about ten years ago running an OG modded Xbox with the encoder board and adapter from an xarcade tankstick. I still have it and added a modded 360 and an Xbox one x to it over the years.
AMAZING! I hope they stay in business for many years to come, because it's going to be that long till I can afford it. lol. I'll just dream in the meantime.
I have the arcade-one build which offers various hard drive sizes but has a new 20tb system. The thing that makes Rec rooms units stand out is You can buy the PC version, play it on your tv and when you’re ready install it in a cab. The games have been fine tuned, but remember with emulation nothing is perfect and there is work you have to do on some things but it stands head and shoulders above what I have seen out there. The price points. The rec room cabs are top quality and priced at the sweet spot and Pixelcade has an LCD or Led option which you can add to it to take your gaming cabinet to the stratosphere. Customer support…. Rec room offers white glove treatment and has nice updates at least once a month and has some of the best videos on his unit like how to install Sinden guns etc. The arcade-one owner’s community you can talk shop with people that have seen it all. I don't just give praise easily but the work this guy has put in over the years shows in the product.
i bought a sit down pedestal cabinet from them back in 2019, with the fighting game pro style controls. great for fighting games. glad to see the name is back, hope to see the sit down cabinet come back, would love to have another setup
So glad he brought RecRoomMasters back from the grave, they were the best DIY arcade cabinet company! I have the Vewlix style, the vertical and the full size vpin cabinets. Hoping he branches out with other cabinet designs at some point.
I've had mine for years and this thing is a beast! Absolute top quality, as good if not better, than an actual arcade machine. And with the Plus controller, it's awesome - nothing like some old-school Tempest with a true spinner. Can't go wrong with these guys.
Being the owner of a sit down cab from the former RecRoom company, I gotta say that is pretty damn impressive. Bravo to Carlos for continuing on with this company. That CP is truly bad @$$. May consider adding one in the future! Now, if he would only bring back the Rec Room Pac Man and Ghost stools!!! I need 2 more for my arcade!
Recroom sent me an email, for some reason this slipped past my TH-cam notifs. Awesome! I have a custom version of their older Jr cab, slightly larger than A1ups MUCH better build quality and fits nicely in an apartment, tossed a set of Bose i got dirt cheap and barely used, sound is amazing. They made me a Streets of Rage Legacy cab, it's on the channel. It's quite a bit down the list since it was a couple years back before they closed up shop. But i'm very glad they're back! 2 years on and everything works great. Controls still solid. Eventually i'd like to get a full size cab from them with RGB and all the trimmings. Great video Ralph! Seems like the market is cooling down quite a bit lately so i hope they hang in there. I really don't want to go with any other company since i know how good my Jr is.
Got my first Rec Room Masters cab back when A1up started. I had 2 A1up cabs preordered and that’s when the pre order debacle happened when some people were walking into gamestop and Walmart and getting cabs while preordered cabs were getting cancelled. I took that money and got a RRM and still have it today and love it!
Was glad to see RecRoomMasters be brought back online earlier this year, but I'm also glad that I bought my original (2019) RecRoomMasters Xtension "Sit Down" cabinet when I did, as that model is not available any more. It's much more comfortable, in my opinion, than the upright cabinets. I've modified the setup quite a bit since getting it, but the components are just about the same as the one featured in the video...no significant changes.
A Recroom Masters 27” 2-player was my first arcade cabinet. I bought it just a few months before Arcade1Up hit the scene. Back then I thought I just wanted one “kitchen sink” cabinet - boy was I wrong. It was a great build quality and great control panel though. I eventually sold it, although I do miss it sometimes as my only multicade option now is an ArPiCade and a good PC with BigBox or CoinOps in the RRM cab was so versatile. Great video, and glad to see they’re back!
I love the idea of multicades - they make sense to own at least one. But a lot of the ones out there have these loud obnoxious graphics, ridiculous looking controller decks, and generally speaking, aren’t pleasant to look at. But this looks so sleek, clean, and most importantly, has a thoughtfully designed controller deck! This looks fantastic! When I go down that DIY multicade project, I will definitely checking this out and throwing my personal Batocera build on it! Thanks for sharing Ralph, glad to see you still appreciate the emulation arcade machines!
I have this exact same setup i purchased 5 years ago. The controller is is super high quality, and you can easily swap out buttons and sticks as needed. When putting it together, consider adding feet or some kind of protection to the part that sits on the floor. I added felt pads to make it easier to slide around on my basement tile. Like you mentioned, some mods may be needed if you want to use a monitor with different connection layouts. I just used a drill with some hole saw bits, but it required some tweaking to get it mounted perfectly. Also, adding artwork after the fact can be a big job (especially on the controller) so if you want artwork get it up front if you can swing it.
Great video as always! A couple notable additions to the new RRM are that most of the screws on the control panel are now hidden and the keyboard drawer is better constructed as it was pretty flimsy before. Carlos and his Arcade-One build are terrific as well and a perfect pairing with the RRM! I have had one for over 3 years after in-part watching your Beastcade video back in the day, so thanks for doing that video! I've done a bunch of videos on the Arcade-one build for those interested in more details on my youtube channel. Keep up the great work Retro Ralph, can't wait to see your upcoming Gun4IR video!
I almost bought one of those before and stopped because I thought it would later annoy me that it wasn't authentic, but you make a good point, authentic for what you want and a multi cade for everything else. might be adding to the collection haha
I love RRC. I have their sit-down two player cab with their controller deck. I added a Govee AI sync RGB for the monitor backlight and playing Street Fighter 6 off the Steam Deck. I'd love to show it to ya!
Nice overview Ralph - it's great to see these guys back on the market. Pixelcade also makes a pretty cool (albeit pricey) dynamic LCD marquee for these cabinets. And speaking of third party support, it would be great if GRS came out with a version of their control panel/Viper PCB that would fit this form factor as an option for their "flat head" bare bones units.
LOL...I was so worried I would F it up, I got lucky this time... haha. Thanks so much for watching. I usually cave under pressure, even though it's just me alone in a room with a camera... haha.
lol it was actually YOU RALPH that convinced me to go for the RECROOM cab couple years back. Best Christmas present to myself that year. Glad theyre back and wonder if the staff is the same at least. Currently trying to setup my AE lightguns, but i dont think there is a dedicated pack for that brand lightgun. :(
LMAO!!! Pretty much, I made this video in my garage with a portable AC unit, I just had to shut it off (film a part real quick) and then turn it back on. It took me like 6 hours but at least I was "kinda comfortable".
Ralph! I’ve been waiting for this one…. I need to find an empty cab to house a Bitkit2 first… but will have a quality multicade on my todo list. I’ll give these a look. - You can definitely see Kim’s influence when you rocketed those medics in Operation Wolf ;)
BurgerTime tip: when the guys are chasing you, let them get on the burger as you drop it. They’ll become part of the burger, and the patty will drop a couple more levels. You finish faster/safer, and I think you get more points, but I never compared to be sure. I’m guessing you know, but the pressures of recording… ;)
I bought a recroommasters 32" cab about 5 years ago and I can attest to the build quality. My only regret is that I bought the 4 player version. I should've gone with the 2 player to get the spinner and the 4 way. I just wish there was a hypermarquee solution for it that wasn't so expensive
@@jasonpowell4084 a little cramped, but the bigger problem is that it's cramped when there's two players. Also, I *rarely* have had more than 2 players playing.
It would be awesome to do a comparison video, taking some of the cabinets that you own and comparing them to what's running on here through emulation, and go over the differences.
Nice looking Cab ....The rom image looks nice too ..... I love my I-PAC encoders ...after watching a video and you talking about them....I got 2 and LOVE them....best and easy to use....Thanks Ralph
The only thing missing is a steering wheel. The quality looks great and basically has about everything you need. Really enjoyed the video and your content as always my friend.
Love the T shirt RR! Colourful and awesome graphix! Thanks for the review!! Looks like a great diy cab!...... Oh ya..... We will see you oooooon the next one bro!
I love original arcade machines, but I will always have a multi cade which I built called kingCade ultimate arcade machine, Same with pinball, I love the real pinball machines, but will always have a vpin. Infact, next build will be a lightgun and jukebox with guitar hero all in one.
Still rocking my older rec room masters 27 inch upright with the x-arcade tank stick and my custom arcade-one pc build. It’s all pimped out w art and buttons etc. I have originals but I’ll alway have my multi. I actually wanna upgrade to this new 32 inch! I love the control panel they use
The one point most missed from the old extension controllers to the newer ones is the the older ones had all the screw heads present for each stick snd trackball whereas the newer controllers are much smother and the screws are hidden.
It's crazy how nice this display is, it's on sale right now at Best Buy. (Not sure for how long though) I put a like in the description (it's not an affiliate link). The Amazon ones are though ;-)
I don't know if Carlos changed any of the design, but I bought one from the original owners back in 2013. I've got one of the sit-down style cabinets and the bottom had holes to put in casters. I don't know if the stand-up models ever had that. Edit: The screen mounting system looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. Don't know if that was changed under the original company or not, but it's far better than what I had to deal with. Though I still do love my cabinet. It's what allowed me to finally have one for the first time since the arcade market in my area has been dead for around 20 years.
Great video Ralph. I have a Rec Room cab with the 2 player Tank Stick. I bought a pc from Carlos years ago and it’s a bit tricky setting up the buttons. Knowing the Tank Stick (I’m assuming you do) any suggestions of what to use instead of a PC? I have a 13 inch GXTV (Do you remember those? Sound is killer JBL). Another solid Ralph. Thanks
You should REALLY consider doing a video on how to make a Steam-based multicade. With the plethora of arcade-style indie games, revivals and remasters of retro titles, and rereleases of classics on Steam it's becoming an increasingly viable option for people who are nervous about getting into unofficial sources for emulation. All the better if you could do a full build of a multicade cabinet kit for the video and cover the whole process, but that may be a bit much.
its definitely worth it for the price & what you are getting & the quality of the hardware. i just wish their was an option for a vertical joystick for games like q-bert & congo bongo. sure i could use the 8 way stick but its just not the same
Definitely one of the nicest multicades, but it's still just that... a multicade. Without game-specific art and controls, it'll never fill the need. That's why so many folks who did stuff with Hyperspin and MAME cabs years ago have now latched onto Arcade1Up. We grew tired of the generic, unlicensed art and one-size-fits-all control.
I would have loved to get a Rec Room Masters cab, but sadly they didnt go on sale for a couple months after when I was buying my multicade :( I am hoping they7 still release a driving cab and pinball cab, as Ill definitely be buying one of each of those in the future. Im guessing those were cancelled though as their site used to say that the other cab designed were coming down the line and now they removed all info about those from their website
Are there any setups that include rotary sticks for games like Ikari Warriors, Gondomania, etc? Also, that close up on your hand would have looked disastrous with my chewed nubs lol. Very well manicured, Ralphie!
Bro awesome video. I just purchased one. Waiting for it to ship. I'm so noob to DIY arcade cabinets. I want to run. Regular speakers with Amp and sub. Can you send me in the right direction to get what Amp and how to connect to gaming laptop?
Very nice but man seems pretty steep for wood and some controls. I understand it's quality stuff. Plus you still have to do the main legwork which is find a system to connect, speakers, amps etc.
Im curious how to temporarily run a Pandora Box with this Xtension exact controller, controller lights up when plugged in, however the buttons and sticks don't activate when I give the Start/ Punch Command. SMH Its a Good looking Machine!:)
i got the xtension arcade emulator edtion before they went out a buisness a few years ago and it still a great control panel, i didnt go with one of there cabinets though because i dont like that its open in the back however i built my control panel into a real midway cabinet ( Mortal Kombat II machine ) for sound i mounted two 6X9 pioneere speakers in the front and a 10" kicker directly in the rear of the cabinet it self, basicly the intire cabinet is a speaker box, for the hardware i have a 9700k intel cpu with 16gb of ram and a 1080ti gpu, display i used a asus 27" IPS 144htz / i had to use a IPS type display because the midway cabinets the mointor is mounted at a 45 degree angle and with a TN based display the colors would wash out pretty badlly due to the viewing angle, other then that all roms are stored on 2tb nvme drive for speed and reliabilty / the hardware if a bit overkill for emulation with the exception of switch games, but it was retired gaming machine i wasnt using anymore, for the front end im using maximus arcade that i heavly modified to support newer systems, backend is mostly retroarch a few standalone emulators, yuzu / mame / and pcsx2, and i have a dolphin bar installed to support real wii remotes for wii emulation
I think the Rec Room Masters cabs look great, but I wish they came up with a better solution for mounting the monitor. I want the monitor to be far less visible behind the bezel. It's just too obvious that it's just an off the shelf monitor sitting back there and it really detracts from the look.
I also have a barrel arcade I need to finish my problem is Im not sure if I should make it a sidebyside with a bigger upright screen in front or a cocktail table but be limited in games.
Do you know if Rec Room Masters will ship internationally anytime soon? Would really like to order one of the Xtension Two Player control panels. Also why call it quits on these type of videos? It breaks up the real Arcade content nicely so would love to see more DIY Arcade/Emulation videos in the future.
Great vid! Am I understanding correctly that there may be someone I could send my computer and Sinden gun to, who would set it up for me with Coinops? I spent a long time trying to figure it out and gave up.
Their vertical cabinet was so sick !!

Love this, I've been wanting to build my own cabinet for over a decade. This will finally get me over that wall I was hitting. Thank you so very much.
These guys make excellent cabs, enjoy!
Nice! Ralph got a little trigger happy in Operation Wolf and killed those guys with the stretcher. Whoops! 😮

Arcade quality wood! The perfect thickness! I’m all in. -That’s what she said. Haha. Great video!
That's the control panel I used to own. Great panel
I just got an older version of this cab, and it's so good. i need to fix the kb tray and add the push to release magnets for the kb tray access.

My OG RecRoomMasters Cabinet is the center piece of my home arcade. Amazing quantity. If the new ones are as good I’d recommend.
I love RRC. I have their sit-down two player cab with their controller deck. I added a Govee AI sync RGB for the monitor backlight and playing Street Fighter 6 off the Steam Deck. I'd love to show it to ya!

Everyone on the internet is watching me right now, as he's playing burger time! Lol I feel you Ralph, I'd be the same way.
LOL...I was so worried I would F it up, I got lucky this time... haha. Thanks so much for watching. I usually cave under pressure, even though it's just me alone in a room with a camera... haha.

Something so minor but amazing is that pull out shelf where you hold your keyboard. That is so continent
Very well made and thorough review. Thanks for putting it together Ralph!
Thanks man and thanks so much for watching!!
I’m glad you shown a newer game like SFIV, retro games are cool on multicades but I want to see newer non 2D games. Just my preference
It sounds good, especially with a thick subwoofer behind it
I'm so glad they are back! paPOw!!! 💥💥🙏
Everybody should have at least one multicade in their game room. They’re the Swiss Army knives of the home arcade experience.
I have the 27" recroom master cabinet. Would also be nice if they made a way to use the extension controller with that older cabinet
I love original arcade machines, but I will always have a multi cade which I built called kingCade ultimate arcade machine, Same with pinball, I love the real pinball machines, but will always have a vpin. Infact, next build will be a lightgun and jukebox with guitar hero all in one.
Glad to hear this is back! Thanks for sharing.
Still own an Xtension Vewlix clone from then.
Nice review Ralph, this build looks really good.
Thanks for watching I appreciate it!

Build your own arcade controls forum has spinner sensitivity settings for most of the spinner games.
Come on dude..... hyperspin? So early 2000's. When is recroommasters putting out a widebody vpin cab? Instant buy for me
Omg I brought my 4 player one from them bro I have put like 1500$ into my arcade I love it.
All the better if you could do a full build of a multicade cabinet kit for the video and cover the whole process, but that may be a bit much.
its definitely worth it for the price & what you are getting & the quality of the hardware. i just wish their was an option for a vertical joystick for games like q-bert & congo bongo. sure i could use the 8 way stick but its just not the same
Nice review! What’s the total cost to get the EXACT setup you showed us? (Cab, speakers, etc.)
I love mine. I actually have an extra emulator edition control panel. Since they are back maybe it’s time to unload it. Or maybe buy another cab 😅
Pretty sweet, but it would be nice if it had 7 or 8 buttons to accommodate the Neo Geo four button layout..
How much would it cost total for a build like yours? I’m a bit diy but a bit overwhelmed with a complete build 😬 Awesome video 👍🏼
✌🏼😎👍🏼
A little tip for Burgertime ... get the enemies to follow you on to a piece of the burger. They'll cause the piece to fall further.
I would have loved to get a Rec Room Masters cab, but sadly they didnt go on sale for a couple months after when I was buying my multicade :(
I am hoping they7 still release a driving cab and pinball cab, as Ill definitely be buying one of each of those in the future.
Awesome to see rec room master back 👍👍
Nice build. What are the specs of the PC?
Nice video! Missed these guys!
FYI Carlos didn't add the 4 way or the navigation menu they were both on the original rec room masters. I have one I should know.
Very nice but man seems pretty steep for wood and some controls. I understand it's quality stuff. Plus you still have to do the main legwork which is find a system to connect, speakers, amps etc.
How do you like that controller layout w your palms resting on the trackball or buttons depending on whether you're using the spinner or 4 way stick?
I wish the 4 way was somehow able to be put somewhere not at the very top.
what kind of panel tv is it because led ips panel would be better for arcade games as it has better motion handling then va panels
I think burgertime on the arcade is sluggish when you go up on the stairs. Play the one on the Colecovision, it's not sluggish at all
I hope they add more variety like the old site did. Coming back with just one size/type of cab was underwhelming.
9:25 are you trolling Scarlet Sprites with the NARC cab?
I'm looking to build a shooter cab. Do you recommend RecRomm or Game Room Solutions Cabinets?
Great vid! Am I understanding correctly that there may be someone I could send my computer and Sinden gun to, who would set it up for me with Coinops? I spent a long time trying to figure it out and gave up.
Yeah they didn't put the bezel around the monitor because I could see tiny crevices through the monitor on a different angle.
How do these compare to the game room solutions cabinets?
How sturdy is it? Imagine getting pissed of at the older harder arcade games, banging the cabinet in anger and the whole thing collapsing. 😂
Just ordered one
Welcome Back!
