The likely reason Pincer's offspring do not display the trait is that it is recessive mutation (loss of melanin production in the sclera) which is only expressed when homozygous.

I think he was observing they will act as a pack or move or do something all at once and together without any other sort of vocalizations or gestures being involved, so by those observations it was concluded that eye movement alone could be a significant signal or communication in and of itself. If it's recessive his children, or anywhere from a none to a quarter to half of them, wouldn't have it either or it may be polygenic too which then it could take only him and a similar female etc. Genetics are crazy like that. But a recessive gene has to be paired with another carrier of the recessive to show up, another being incomplete dominant, which then his children with a non-carrier may have different eyes less extreme but if another carrier of one or two copies mater with him then some would have fully white eyes outside the iris, some be partial, tho it'd give all his children at least one copy of the gene. My guess is if some of his children had completely unremarkable eyes it's polygenic but yeah, fascinating stuff. Learned about genetics getting into reptiles and breeding snakes and lizards, but each animal group can have a different basic genetic structures, sex determining systems, among other things. I'm no geneticist but it is fascinating stuff.

he sure does a lot of talking but doesnt say much... we get it they have white eyes. we wanna know about the genes. he dont know its ok. poor guy
Let me answer that question with a 10 minute explanation that Nevers answers the question
British Mark Wahlberg makes interesting points.
Let me save you the trouble its the other way around Humans regressed at one point in history.
This guy has just the right amount of self-depreciation to "I'm a literal baller" ratio figured.

I watch this whole video and I was trying to figure out one thing. What is the point ?
Chimps are just evolving we humans we ape like once but we evolved. Could u tell difference who holding mic Joe Rogan or a chimp the difference would be chimp smoking a cigarette drinking a beer easy going just having a conversation with a banana asking should I eat or not. Joe on mic talking about Rogaine and why it's too late just joking folks 😅 lol.
How can u not see the relation. We r them or we where seeded with thier DNA.
I feel this way when i make eye contact with my sister's golden doodle. I swear theres a little human in there.
Hell of a run on paragraph in there 😂
This has been one of the theories that separates us from the great apes for a while and to think we could be witnessing convergent evolution take place is exhilarating.
Yeah, and if I had wheels I'd be a wagon.
@@atm1919 😂
Human beings are great ape
So u hate God?
It's still a theory for a reason
RIP Pincer 😭
He looks like Mark Walhberg
If he points to his eyes, then you, then makes a circle with two fingers on one hand and pokes the circle with his finger on the other hand, RUN.
Which direction are we running?
Towards the friendly hand gesture
Why does that Chimpguy reminds me of David Spade haha.
Ricky Gervais + Matt Hamill
I guarantee if Chimps could talk, the story wouldn't be the same..😂
Chimps: "So the way it actually works is, food is good and those other dumb people are in our way"
Why do they think they dnt speak ,I can't wait till they prove cuz I think it's so blatant it's beyond a joke
I think he was observing they will act as a pack or move or do something all at once and together without any other sort of vocalizations or gestures being involved, so by those observations it was concluded that eye movement alone could be a significant signal or communication in and of itself. I don't think he means that they don't have other means of communicating as well, if that makes sense?
Put playback speed at 1.5 for normal speed speech.
😂 ahahaahha true
Good evolutionary traits are passed in small amounts, I guess.
Not entirely on topic, but this is bugging me and I can't find an answer on the internet.
Is James Reed from Wales? Am I the only one who can hear a slight Welsh accent on some words? Very subtle, could be a county on the border maybe, but if anyone knows where he's from it would help put me mind at ease, thanks!
I think he's a Geordie
I'm actually an expert in eye movement. I agree.
What qualifies you as an expert?
@@nate2933 i think the fact that he can move his eyes makes him think he has attained mastery in the field of eye movement, also a real expert in eye movement would probably state their field of expertise and career, such as an expert in reading eye movement in order to detect people lying or an expert in reading eye movement to diagnose cognitive disorders, just saying expert in eye movement really doesnt mean anything, maybe he is just better at literally moving his eyes than the majority of people
I thought it was Ricky Gervais talking about Apes lol 😂
I noticed the whites in the eyes on a couple chimps while watching the documentary
Gus was the main one for me not as significant tho
Really thought this was going to be Mark Wahlberg
just the title of this video spiked my interest quick! awesome 😊
Reminded me of this: Why we make an eye contact - Jordan Peterson

British Jason sudeikis knows his stuff...
amount of offspring large enough for me to hypothesise that whites of the eyes make it easier for females to ascertain his interest level
Does someone know where can I watch this full podcast?? In TH-cam there are only short clips, not the full version of it...
Could this be a very similar thing to uncanny valley? If the valley is created due to inconsistencies in facial features then gorillas may look at us in the same way we see doll eyes
🌐 “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 10:33 King James Version (KJV). 🔥 👽🍴
It might be adaptive introgression....but that might be offensive to suggest in a polite British narrated video.
Seriously. How would an introgressed chimpanzee be named? Pan Sapiens? Homo Troglyditimus pan?
"Are the other chimps reading anything from that?"
Of course they are. Have you ever pointed with your eyes to a dog? They react. And if a dog can react to your pointing with your eyes, of coarse a chimp, a higher life form, will similarly react.
The question should have been, "Is this chimp USING it's ability to point with his eyes with other chimps?"
When the other chimps start reacting, that will be the beginning of The Planet of the Apes.
Chimps ate hemp,
Hemp eating chimps became humans.
Humans grew hemp.
We evolved a cannabinoid system.
Because we were chimps that ate hemp.
Cannabinoid receptors in human living tissue, sets us apart from chimps.
You’re welcome.
"This isn't supported by the scientific data but..."
So, Basically... I'm just making shit up because I have a 'feeling'. F science.
This made me think of the following:
Me asking my ex what time she’d be home
Her: well I think I may get groceries, while I’m there I have to get this, this, and this from such and such an aisle. Oh, I think I might have some coupons too. Also I need to get some gas as the tanks almost empty…is the little genie lamp supposed to be on? Oh, and I think I smelled smoke this morning on the way to…
Me: good lord please give me a reasonable way to leave the country and start a new life…somewhere, anywhere.
Bears, Wolves or Chimps, what animal do you guys think is Joe Rogan's favorite/most talked about?
He started off w/a interesting story then became charmed by his own voice and forgot to give us what he promised, pinvas story. Joe you should have pulled him back into pincas story...
If there was ever a
"GET TO THE FUCKING POINT"
moment, this is it!!!!
Here’s a Joe Rogan type question, has there ever been any documentation of chimps picking mushrooms or any psychedelics and ate them on purpose or by accident? And if so, what were the effects?
I watched the series on Netflix. Don't waste ur time it was bullshit he didn't get good angles, plus he made it seem like it was this graphic display of chimp on Chimp Violence Gets confusing trying to keep up with all the chimps...(D-)
Yeah he looks HELLA human with those eyes
Wow, I've never worked or seen a chimp with white eyes..That's very different from reg chimps...fascinating
