The active ingredient in Differin (adapalene) is actually less irritating than tretinoin and safer. Some studies have shown it to be equally effective to tretinoin.
yesss. i went from using adapelene to tretinoin thinking it would take my skin to the next level. but i saw no improvements. back to using my adapalene now 3 times a week.
it definitely can be better for acne, however tretenoin is the only retinoid studied and proven to be effective for anti aging benefits and reducing wrinkles.
@@l.b4723 Because it has its FDA approval for acne. Yes, there's not a consensus like with tret, but since they work the same similar results are to be expected...
For me and a lot of women, it's 100% about hormones. Now that I'm pregnant I never get acne but I'm suspecting it will come back in full force postpartum
I've used tretinoin for my acne for 4 months and I stopped coz the purging is just so crazy that no matter how simple and gentle my routine is, the breakout just doesn't stop. I'm on retinol for 3 months and I'm seeing results, barely but hey at least my acne have calm down and it's not adding more. I still get breakout here and there but not as worse when I used tretinoin as my main treatment. Now I'm only using sunscreen, moisturizer, face wash, and retinol. Simple yet effective. No any other actives since it irritates my skin so much and whenever I try products, I get breakouts and feels like I'm going back to zero again.
My skin also can’t handle different activities in one time, I don’t know how all the tik tok skin influencers managing to use 5 different activities in 1 week 😬
I've had the same experience with Tretinoin :( Although, let's not underestimate how hormones/pcos may play a huge role in this, even when you are using a cocktail of actives.
My skin looked EXACTLY like yours. I tried tretinion and even adapalene to no avail. Tret did nothing and adapalene was a little more better because it wasn't as irritating. Turns out mine was a mix of hormonal acne as well as roseaca. Azelaic Acid saved my f***kin life, I would suggest you try that out. I use the brand Finacea at 15% gel (the white tube with little lion on it) I bought it from a pharmacy in Australia because the formula is the best. Azelaic Acid in its natural form is a powder so can be tricky to formulate. I hope you read this comment, I hope it can help. Sincerly, stranger who once upon a time had the same skin, from the internet
Oh my gosh, I think you saved my skin with your comment. I checked some TH-cam videos about rosacea and that is exactly what is going on. I was not digging to this before because I knew for 100% that my acne was hormonal, because of pcos, but researching more today it lookes like I have both problems. When I get my hormonal acne I use a lot of actives and it causes rosacea 🙈🙈 everything makes so much sense now, I will definitely try azelaic acid, thank you so much.
very interesting! I heard in the past that because the skin is our biggest organ, the reason for acne lies almost always in the gut. I am absolutely convinced that you will see long-term improvements in your skin when you heal your gut. I swear by fermented foods like beat kavass, sauerkraut, kombucha or kefir. It is so easy to ferment vegetables at home - it's literally just e.g. carrots, water and salt and 3-4 days later, bada bing bada bum: you have delicious fermented vegetables. Many people eat at least 1-2 tablespoons of fermented food with every meal for at least 3 months to heal their gut and see a difference.
What is your opinion on taking probiotic capsules orally? I used to take them but they are quite expensive, so decided to stop. (around £10 for a two week course, for the cheapest ones). Might take your advice with the fermented foods. Maybe home made kimchi will start being my go to :')
If the gut is the reason, then why does it only cause acne in the face and not the rest of your body skin? you can be absolutely convinced all you want but anyone with a brain can see your bad logic.
Tread, no one slows down the aging process in the skin. They should have told you that there was a plateau. That was at your age in stage in life.... But it will keep your collagen from breaking down. Sooner that has to as you were lucky enough to grow older.
how you do it in a year if in a month doesn’t make your skin better even get worst? same here, I try a lot of active contains in one time my skin can’t handle, then I choose to use simple skincare, only cleansing oil, face wash, moisturiser and tretinoin for night and facial wash vit C sunscreen at daytime. make my skin even more better.

agreed! i think good cleansing, moisturizing, sleep and avoiding sun is what really matters for achieving good skin.

That's not really true... hormones can change all your body.
No you need some form of an active
Lol so basically a bunch of nothing burger. Nothing you mentioned creates new collagen or elastin.
I saw a girl switching from tretinoin to retinol, and her skin improved a lot. So hopefully you get a better option :3
She’s so right though, many Koreans don’t use retinol at least not until recently and they have beautiful skin!
Because they dont eat all the horrible crap we do and they always wear hats to hige from the sun

I didn’t expect to look younger, I was hoping to clear my skin from acne, but it got worse 😞
You may try to use adapalene, more gentle than tretinoin.
I experienced the same problem with supplements, i am happy te see that i am not thr only one who noticed that specially with vitamin D 😮
Which app are you using to keep track on vitamins and tretinoin consumption?
I use the memory app in my brain
