Jenny is a hero to all. I love that she real. She tells it like it is. Lining up the blocks with a sample block and repeating red goes here, red red and so on. No matter what she is teaching I feel I have a friend to watch over and over again with out lossing hope.
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! Jenny, this is WONDERFUL!!! Making those old blocks easy makes quilting so fast and easy! I love the old blocks but get so tired of all the cutting and math. THANK YOU! Your the original IRON QUILTER !
Just started making this one for my Son's 21st Birthday. He saw the red and white and fell in love with it as he is a Manchester United fan here in the UK! The way you explain how to do things and the tutorial videos are fantastic... these are by far the main reason I began quilting - (albeit only a month or two ago) you make it all so easy and fun - Excellent :D
Dear Jenny, thank you very much for your tutorials. I learned many things from you.You make everything so easy. YOU ARE THE BEST ! I live in Russia and I feel like I have a great friend in USA. Thanks again, you are fantastic !
Dear Jenny, I'm looking your tutorials within a great enthusiasm. For that I am a beginner in patching and quilting, you've shown and learnd me so many practical things, so I have to thank you so, so much. Not any book explains so easy and makes busy to do the same as you show. Every Quilter has its fun, after every tutorial, I'm sure. Thank you again and show us more, margaretha
I recently completed a king sized Jacob's Quilt for my grandson Jacob, for his high school graduation. It went together great. Thanks for all your wonderful tutorials.
It's absolutely stunning!! You always take something that looks hard to make and makes it sooo easy!! Your the best!! I have learned so much from you. My mother my grandma always making quilts. They would love to know that I'm also doing that.❤. Thanks for all you have taught me!!❤
I just loved how easy you made the Jacob's Ladder look, and he really loved the design and colour combo, so I started it yesterday. My 3rd quilt is as many months, so I am hoping I have learnt a lot from the mistakes I made with the first two. Your tutorials have taught me so much already. Thank you so much :)
Another fantastic tutorial. I loved your finished quilt on the wall as well as the demonstration top. It is so nice and easy to see the beautiful quilt patterns on the solid, or "almost solid" fabrics. I love the beautiful patterned fabric, too, but they don't show off the actual quilt work the way simpler fabrics do. Thanks!
God bless you, Jenny, for figuring out ways to make these traditional quilts easy for us. I have so much to learn about quilting that it can sometimes be overwhelming when i have to use my seam ripper on a block that I thought was going to be easy! I’m definitely going to try to make this quilt now.
Just love how you explain little details that might come so naturally to seasoned quilters. I so enjoy watching your videos and learning from you. Thanks so much!
The two-color Jacob's ladder is just beautiful . And I think using scraps mixed with a solid could be a brilliant way of making your scraps pop! Wonderful tutorial! Thank you.
It’s April of 2020, and I am using this for my “Covid Lockdown” quilt. The only thing I did different was I did the magic 8 on the layer cake to get 8 HSQ, and then used a matching jelly roll, with white for the background. I have a pinwheel left over from the jelly roll, and the “half” 4 patch will be used in the border. Thank you, Jenny, for a wonderful quilt!
I’m working on a Jacob’s Ladder quilt now using all sorts of scraps. For the HSTs I cut the squares just a tiny bit larger than needed. After I press them open I use my fabulous Bloc Loc. Perfect every time.
I love all your tutorials. I am from romania and i ve recently started to learn how to make a simple quilt, and your tutorials helped me a lott. Thank you verry much for doing this. Good luck in your work
how many blocks do I need to make the red and white quilt the Jacob's Ladder it looks different then the Jacob's Ladder remix can you tell me how many 9 Patches at that I will need to make this thank you Chrissy B
jenny you are awesome I love your videos you make every thing look so easy I have learned a lot from you. you don't have to know design just by memery a design board would haelp viewers.
Thanks MSQC and Jenny for this idea. Would love an updated video with measurements etc. Last time I improvised with a layer cake my math was way off. 🙁 Can you get an all red layer cake? That would be cool.
I love this pattern. But I'm only finding the Jacob's Ladder Remix Quilt pattern. I'm wanting to make a king size quilt in 1 color and a cream. This quilt looks sooo easy. and I love the red and white!! And Jenny you are so fun to watch and listen too!! Thank you!!
+Karen Schwitzner here is the pattern for that quilt! www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/3808/empty-bobbin-sewing-studio/shea-henderson/seeing-squares
I made this in king size. I used 2 layer cakes and 2 jelly rolls in batiks that come in 2 of each of 20 prints. I found you have to measure the layer cakes to make sure they are square and square up each hst. I cut my layer cakes to 5 inch squares.
I bought that amount and have 64 x 12 inch blocks made with some for a 4 inch border and binding. This makes a 100inch square quilt top approx in my case. good luck with yours!
I have made three quilts now from your tutorials! Now I am going to start this one. Tomorrow I start my cutting! Could you post the cutting measurements? For me it was a little hard to catch. Love your site! Keep us laughing and quilting!
Not being good at maths, it's taken me hours to work out how to divide a layer cake to make the quilt in the background. For anyone else struggling, I think you need to cut your layer cake into quarters, use two quarters to make the half-square triangles and the other two to make the four-patches. At least, I think that's right... if not i'll have to let you know after i've tried to make this!🤭
Thanks Jenny for answering. I can't believe your family would want to mute you..haha. I put the blocks together but mine does not look like yours but I am happy with it anyway. I will definately be having another go at this pattern as it is easy and comes together quickly and looks as though I have worked REALLY hard!!! Lookingforward to more lessons.
(add 20 inches of border so it will end up being 78 by78 . how wide the first border( the inner one and how wide the outer border or is it better to buy another layer cake and continue the jacobs so it will look more uniform?
Missouri Star Quilt Company i know you said a layer cake but seems like you could make this whole quilt with charm packs and do the scrappy 4 patch technique but with the same two colors. seems it'd be a lot faster than nesting jelly rolls? I love the quilt on the wall i'm new to quilting and i have some snowbird print charm packs i think i'm gonna try this one to be my first quilt!
I also would like guidance on how to make the multi-colored brown tone Quilt Jenny had displayed behind her while presenting the tutorial on how to make the red and white Jacob's Ladder. Thank you.
My daughter has picked this pattern for her wedding quilt. She found the perfect fabric which only comes in a jelly roll. How so you suggesting make a queen sized quilt out of jelly rolls PLUS a solid fabric for the 1/2 square triangles,
A great tutorial. I was amazed at the results of the finished quilt and learned so much about colours and contrasts. Thank you so much. Can we have more videos please?
So - it looks like you did this using jelly roll and charms? Is that right? You were holding a stack at the beginning and I was afraid I missed something. I'm excited to try this pattern! Thanks for making the steps so clear.
Love Jacobs ladder. Could you do a video on the one hanging I the back. I love how that looks can't figure you how it's done with a layer cake. Thank you in advance,
Some of the layer cakes (10-inch) are cut into 5-inch patches, 4 patches per layer cake. Some are cut into four 2-1/2 inch strips for the 4-patches. The important key is that the 1/4" seams need to be really accurate because there is no room for error this way. I'd rather cut yardage a little wider (e.g., 2-3/4" strips and 5-1/4" patches) and trim as needed. My concept of 1/4" varies from patch to patch! Ha!
Do you have instrucrions to make this from a layer cake? That's what you said you used, and then you made it with strips and charm squares. Please show us how you did it with a layer cake.
Jenny is a hero to all. I love that she real. She tells it like it is. Lining up the blocks with a sample block and repeating red goes here, red red and so on.

I am loving seeing some of the older videos. Love the new ones also. Thx for doing these.
I just learned a new trick from this old video...thank you Jenny! Sew with seam pointing up....you’re awesome! 👍🏻👵🏻💕
Even though this tutorial was done 9 years ago, I’m still loving MSQC!
I love the way you decoded what looked like a very complex block.
This is the quilt that got me hooked to MSQC and Jenny.
