    Been using the zve1 for a few months now. I absolutely love it. The only 2 issues I have are dynamic stabilization from side to side sucks. Forward and backwards it’s fine. 2nd thing I dont like is the screen when flipped out fully in horizontal isnt fully flush flat. This makes keeping the camera straight while shooting handheld difficult. Mine has no overheating issues. Filmed an automotive event mid summer in 87° heat and it was fine. I’d buy this camera again if I had to.

    I think you will be the first TH-cam reviewer to mention about it ???.

    Hey man -- love your content. Thanks for all the value and laughs you bring.
    Just wanted to chime in briefly on the SM7B. Your voice seems particularly prone to plosives. If you use the other, fatter windscreen that comes with the mic, it'll reduce them significantly. Might be worth a shot.

    Thanks for the great review! So torn now between upgrading my A6400 to the FX30 and using all my existing crop sensor lenses, or trying this! @thaticelandicguy  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks mark! I’m super suprised by this camera, it’s fantastic. I’d say this over the fx30. But probably just depends on what you’re looking for. Great thing with Sony is that both apsc and ff have E mount. So you can use all the lenses on all the cameras.

    • @thaticelandicguy
      @thaticelandicguy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@conjureconquercreate909 so yea if you want to film short films fx30 is a great choice. For me and the types of videos I make this would make more sense. I can only speak from my own personal experience. I did record a video where I used it as a b cam, and it was on for over 40minutes in 4K 25fps and it wasn’t a problem at all

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thaticelandicguy Would it be possible to do a video on what it looks like with apsc lenses on the ZV-E1? How much crop has to be applied to make that work? And how are the results in terms of bokeh and does it affect exposure in any other way? One of the things that have been stopping me from getting a newer apsc is that I *know* down the line I'll be getting a full frame, and what I have access to now in terms of gear "works" (even though getting a "gap-stop" camera like one of the 6000 series would make my day/work easier) - but if a transition from what I have now to a ZV-E1 could be stepped by getting a A6000 series camera and a couple of apsc lenses that, when going ZV-E1, could for a time give nice results while saving up for a couple of full frame lenses, then that might be a real option :)

    People are mistakenly comparing this to the A7s3. This is aimed at people that produce content. Not at professionals.
    Almost every feature the ZV-e10 offers can be done in post. It does not offer redundant recording options. It does not have good heat management.
    This is a great camera for people just getting into video production, not for people that make their living off it.

  • @SianCKB

    Thanks for the great review! I currently have the Sony ZVE10 and A74, I do both photography and videography, do you think it makes sense to sell the a74 and buy the new zve1?

    • @thaticelandicguy
      @thaticelandicguy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on what your doing tbh, if you need better video quality then yes. But the a74 is much better for photos and it’s also a killer video camera

    • @nomad0714
      @nomad0714 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thaticelandicguy, yeah agree.
      Nice video. Been following you for awhile and love seeing you grow your channel and content continues to get higher quality!
      I have both the A7S3 and A74 and am good.
      If Sony doesn’t give the new features, no worries. If they do, bonus.
      The A74 is a hybrid cam and has good balance between photos and video. It has CF Express A and dual memory card slot which I need a back up. And the mechanical shutter and EVF is a must.
      When I need 4K60/120 uncropped, the A7S3 fills that void. And both cams are way good enough with their AF and stabilization systems so the ZV-E1 improvements are nice to have features.
      I guess the ZV-E1 is for video only shooters who want smaller form factor and all the latest new features and don’t need EVF, don’t need dual memory card slots, and don’t need mechanical shutter.
      I hope Sony follows through on the 4K120 and HD240 as they said they would. I still have my A9 for fast action shooting and wildlife and Sony promised picture profile and never gave it.
      I also shoot with Canon R5/5C and Canon screwed up on the latest firmware update. Rumored for removal of 30min recording limit and better AF like the R3 and instead gave updates for 480MP but only in JPEG. Who shoots JPEG for architecture and landscape professionally.
      Looks like both Sony and Canon are being stingy with firmware updates so Pana and Nikon needs to take advantage of this and gain market share. Competition will keep everyone honest.

    I like to film travel videos hotels etc in warm climates walking around the hotel grounds etc and am concerned this will overheat in 10 mins in some cases.
    I am waiting for real world reviews in warm climates before deciding on this, I’ve got a feeling we will get big complaints about overheating. There’s also a sneaky suspicion the 120fps was left out so overheating wouldn’t hit the pre release reviews as much. Otherwise it appears to be a fantastic camera and I’d really like to try it out and compare to my Nikon which I love.

      That depends on what you are doing with it.
      Are you looking for a camera with top of the line autofocus and using the Emount lenses with a good upgrade path. At this price the ZV-e1 might be for you.
      Do you take pictures? then the s5ii or a74
      Do you need pro features? Heat resilience, dual card slots, Full size HDMI, View finder. Then the s5ii or a74
      The deciding factor between the s5ii and a74 is if you need open gate for social media (s5ii) and if not what lens system you want to marry into. With the a74 you get access to the full line of APSC G lenses 11mm and 15mm which are phenomenal lenses for the cost.

    It's overheating in 4k on 60fps after 40min above 24 degrees. Defently not the perfect vlog camera on Professional base or to travel in warm countries but rather a vlog camera for the amateur who wants some better images. The FX30 is better because it has a fan and the price for the zve1 camera is exaggerated but may have been worth it if there was a fan in it. Sony made a mistake to call it a pro vlog camera because it is not usable in all weather conditions. Who wants a camera that is just overheated while vlogging or traveling?

      Ok so I don’t work for Sony, I’m not their customer support nor did I get paid to say anything in this video. But Imma jump in quickly here.
      1. I haven’t had any issues with it over heating. Not saying it can’t, just that I haven’t.
      2. Having two cards is better for sure. But I’ve shot so so much with a single card camera, and I can say, it’s alright.
      3. It’s a bit plasticky for sure, but honestly feels good. Have you held one?
      4. Seeing that this is really a video camera then an evf is not really needed. Dunno about you but when I’m filming I never use the evf.
      5. Just realised I answered the last question first lol.

      I don’t see your point? If you mean that it’s the same as a7siii then I see it’s as a massive pro that they put this sensor in more cameras. They clearly designed this insane sensor that can be sold to suit different people and price points. This camera enables many to get a7siii level of quality for much less money. We always have to think about everyone’s budget and needs are different.
