Hi everyone, thanks for watching my IKEA Kitchen video. This is my 4th IKEA kitchen and I have loved all of them. I have installed all of them myself and still have never had to make a warranty claim for any reason. They are an amazing product at an entry point price. Let me know in the comments below how you feel about IKEA kitchens. - Joey Troxel.

I am sold!!! I want one so bad! I live in a mobile home and I hate the drawer space and lack of storage that is actually useable. I am mapping out the kitchen now and will be purchasing 2-4 cabinets every 2 weeks until I get my whole kitchen. Thanks for sharing!

Assume you always use Metod? wondering how durable the cabinet & counter top particulary on the sink mount area against water/moist (where we must cut a hole, expose the particle board counter top) and against the heat where we again cut a hole and mount a built in hob from your experience?
I asked ikea employee, she said there is never a warranty for water and heat damage.

@@tn9274 I have never used Metod. It is always Section. Those are the standard kitchen boxes and I just installed my 5th kitchen last weekend with them. So far, no issues. If you have water leaking in the sink base, the cabinet will absorb it and get destroyed because its just pressed wood so you want to get a rubber barrier with a lip to sit under the sink in that cabinet.

I bought an ikea kitchen because it was affordable we were going to have it installed.
It became difficult to get a contractor, so I started it myself. It was as simple as putting together bookshelves. The rail system made it so easy and you could adjust the spacing as you go.
I did it almost completely on my on. I waiting until hubby came home to help lift the two biggest upper cabinets (over the fridge and the corner one).
Loved the whole process. Totally going to install an ikea kitchen in the next house.

I’ve had a lot of IKEA pieces over the years and most of them are still with me. I’m 70 now so they’ve lasted a long time. You may have talked me into getting an IKEA kitchen if in the next year I decide that I will replace my kitchen. But you’ve convinced me that it would be worth it even to have it installed by a contractor Because you’re telling me that at Home Depot or Lowe’s it would be double the price to purchase the same cabinets and I would still have to pay to have them be installed, which means to me that in the end, buying IKEA cabinets and having them installed will still be cheaper by several thousand dollars then purchasing particleboard cabinets from Home Depot or Lowe’s. Your kitchen looks very nice at almost 60. I hope you found the home you wanna live in and you don’t have to do any more kitchens. All I can say is if you don’t wanna spend the money again look after the things you have, it’s always worked for me. Very interesting video lots of great advice. Thanks a lot.

We've had an IKEA kitchen for 5 years. We love it. When we had our floors installed after the kitchen was put in, the flooring folks actually thought the cabinets were from a high end Italian manufacturer! We used the kitchen designer and had one cabinet that had to be cut and customized because we have structural beams in our mid-century modern home - but it looks fabulous. I am an avid cook and award winning baker. Love it!

#16 that I didn’t hear you mention, which is #1 for me, is the quality of their hardware and full extension drawer slides. You did mention soft close, but it’s the smoothness of operation and strength that I love.
#17 is that you can get 15” Base cabinets as well for spots that are tight and they even offer DRAWERS for the 15” bases!
I currently just have a couple of IKEA hacks in a non-IKEA kitchen, but am hoping to remodel to IKEA at some point in the near future.

Now I'm more motivated to do the planning on the website so I can lock in the pricing, etc. Thank you!

Can confirm all of this. I've done two Ikea kitchens. My 1st kitchen was in an older condo built 1968 so the cabinet rail system is a life saver. My 2nd Ikea kitchen was a bit easier. The Ikea customization is insane. I have a chef's kitchen, basically and amazingly, for under $5,000 DIY, self install. Appliances not included. The drawer and cabinet panels will set you back as they can up the cost.

I'm trying to cut cost every way I can even considering used cabinets. After looking at this video I now have another avenue. I don't like particleboard but if Ikea is giving you 25 years if anything happens that sold me. You have brought out so many pluses I am checking it out the first chance I get. Thank you for the info and this will help me immensely to afford my new kitchen.

Yes, a lot of what you mentioned is the reason I went with Ikea. The big reason for me was 12 inch cabinets compared to 15 inches, which was the biggest factor. The only thing I felt that Lowes and Home Depot had over Ikea is that their cabinets are pre assembled, but assembling the Ikea cabinets is well worth all the benefits and savings.

I’m installing my fourth kitchen right now. The last two are from IKEA and I agree that the ease and price is unmatched by the first two I’ve installed. I also built benches and cabinets for my workshop from IKEA kitchen cabinets. What we have choosen t🎉o do is to buy the counter top boards from a different place in order to get the quality feeling improved since IKEA do not offer solid stone or wood boards. One thing though, the new kitchen planner tool is much worse than the old one that they changed about a year ago. I’m a bit disappointed that they changed. Was a bit of a struggle when planning this last kitchen.

Oh my gosh when you said about the cabinet depths being 15" and that Lowes, Home Depot cabinet's being 12 - 13" I said YES!! My old kitchen cabinets - 1980 - are 12" deep. And my plates just fit - but not the platter, I had to find a new home for that. I guess that's from back in the day when dishes were smaller. I was quite happy to find out IKEA's cabinets are 15" deep. Looking forward to ordering and getting my IKEA kitchen!

Never again! We placed a $5,000 order at the Ikea in New Haven CT and they screwed it all up. As soon as we paid we were told half the cabinets and other parts were not available. A month later and we received 3 deliveries (which we had to pay each time). The last one came today and we were missing 15 items out of over 100. Driver would not take responsibility. Ikea customer service crated a list for us to go to another state (NJ) to pick them up. Got their (2.5 hours away) and they said they did not know what we were talking about. Tried calling the service number and they put us on hold several times, then hung up. NEVER AGAIN!

Unfortunately people think Ikea kitchen is made of bad material but it's actually made of the same material as standard home depot/ Lowes kitchen cabinets. What has given Ikea kitchen a bad name is installation issues. You have to install it correctly or it can fail. We've had out kitchen for 4 years and it's so sturdy and I love all the organization modifications I have been able to do. Plus I have been able to change things that didn't work for us as we need it. Things that are not customizable with the other brands in such accessible and affordable way. Will recommend in a heartbeat.

Ikea is always trend forward. Custom cabinetry moved to 15” deep uppers about 15 years ago, Ikea moved to that standard about 10 years ago. Other box stores don’t offer it to this day. It’s true, the increased upper size allows for more cans, glasses, appliances and platters.

We purchased a home that has Ikea kitchen cabinets, and, quite honestly, I didn't like them. They were white with bead board look to them. And, I found them difficult to keep clean, even though they had foil-wrapped door fronts, over the years, they yellowed. If water sits on them, the foil lifts and separates. I had water run down and sit on the top edge of the door without knowing it, and when I went to wipe the water later, the foil lifted off. Not impressed. I have carpentry skills, I think when we renovate, I'll build my own wood cabinets. Appreciate your video on Ikea Kitchen Cabinets, they are just not for me, from my experience with them. I hope this gives your viewers another point of view.

Something my mama always says is “never put white cabinets in a kitchen”. Unless you clean (not wipe down, use a cleaner) your cabinets once a week, white cabinets will need replacing (or refinishing/repainting). The heat and oils sit on our cabinets and build up and destroy the paint. And white seems to be the most affected. My sister had white cabinets, loved the white when she bought her house and by the time she looking for a new house white was a deal breaker lol. And now her cabinets are black (and are IKEA cabinets) and she loves them.

I got an Ikea kitchen when they were discontinuing the Akrum line. It was 30% off, which was great. I was told I'd be able to get replacement parts. My dog chewed a lower cabinet drawer front. I could not get a replacement, just a few months after. Eventually, I sanded the chewed area down and got a finish that matched. Other than that, I'm very happy with the kitchen. I did have a contractor install it because I needed to have the ceiling raised and a wall extended and the co-op board wants things like that done by licensed and insured contractors. I would do an Ikea kitchen again.

    You're absolutely right!
I am remodeling my kitchen and IKEA kitchen is the best move I have made.
You just need to find time and patience.
    Kudos for their modular design
They have thought everything for consumer need.
I only watch your clip too late to make decisions and still I myself end up going for Ikea for the exact same reasons you mentioned.
Kitchen planner is a must to preview what will be your future kitchen when it comes to life.

For best quality (plywood, not the particleboard crap) and best price - DIY. You have to pay for the tools (track saw, clamps, edgebanding, paint sprayer) but the tool cost is amortized over *other* projects you will save money on (office desks/bedroom cabinets/livingroom console media). If you work diligently, by yourself, ~8 hrs in the afternoon after work, you can build all your kitchen cabinets in 14 days +/- 3 days to finish, +/- 3 days to install. With another person (your SO), you can probably knock it out in 70% of the time.

    Hello Joey,
Thank you very much for this informative video.
Yes, in general I agree with you but I missed an important "disclaimer".
To build your own kitchen needs time, the right and proper tools and, the most important, the joy and talent to do DIY.
    Here is is my experience:
I have the skills and tools but not the time. In our case, the appartment of my daughter is about 450 km (ca. 280 m) away from my home in a different country.
We have considered the DIY option but we decided to order the installtion service together with the kitchen. One draw back was, the installation team was very busy and that caused a delay of 6 weeks. Then within 2 days the kitchen was installed perfectly.
Two (2) guys assembled the cabinets, drawers and doors etc. with the proper tools and experience. The water and the drain connection they skipped due to lack of experience - that was the only disappointment of the service.
This shows it is possible to do DIY but the amount of time is to considered. So, each choice has its positive and negative side.
If the installation team noticed a part is missing or damaged, it can happen, they have a special service within IKEA to get the missing parts or replacements quickly.
As a DIY we have to find out the part no and travel to the next IKEA store etc.etc.
My conclusion - if time and health is not an issue, I will do it next time on my own.
Yes, the mounting rail - this is an excellent product and simplifies the installation and is time saver- Important is the proper installation because it carries your kitchen.
There are some excellent youTube films for the proper installation and considerations.
For assembling the IKEA kitchen there are some excellent youTube films available and recommended to see.
Have a good time and stay save.
    Andreas

Think I'm leaning this way myself. I would prefer to have 3/4 plywood, but what gets me is the storage solutions, the full slide drawers, the lighting, etc. When I go to kitchen stores and look at wood cabinets, I don't even see these as available options.

We have the same style of kitchen except for the refrigerator. We are on going for installing our kitchen these days. It’s ikea too, and the good thing about ikea is you can exchange the materials if you already open the box or give it back to them and they will refund if the box is still intact. We have some changes so we give it back the rest of material and they will refund us. It’s 1 year return policy you can exchange as long as it’s not yet use. For the delivery we paid 119€

Their quality has been going down over the years/reducing options, unfortunately.
The first IKEA kitchen I did for myself they were giving you the option of having solid wood doors/fronts.
I'm doing another one right now and you don't get those anymore, it's only particle board.
I'm not saying their competition is any better, but back in the day when they were offering solid wood fronts, that was a very competitive price for the higher quality items.

Where I live, we have brick walls and it was be much harder to install. So IKEA has a partner that installs for a very reasonable fee. And hey, they warranty makes them the king of kitchen cabinets. So in my country, they position themselves differently.

I've had my Ikea kitchen for almost 10 years now. It is from the "pre-rail" era, i.e. my first-time-DIY-kitchen-installer hubby had to use a spirit level and a drill when hanging the top cabinets on to brick walls. I live in Ireland, that soggy island on the other side of the Atlantic ocean. I might as well be living on a wet sponge as far as humidity goes. So don't worry about humidity. MY WHITE IKEA KITCHEN IS STILL ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! 👌 I still love it. 👍 ♥ 😍💕♥️💓💖🌟
      P. S. We don't have cockroaches here ... but I don't imagine they'd fancy eating man-made "wood" so you're good to go. 👍

Drop one of those doors on the floor and count the pieces. This is in no way "strong" furniture. I used to make particle board furniture at the Sauder Mfg plant. It all looks good until you use it. And drop particle board from about 5 feet, even if it lands mostly flat is breaks. This means it is the opposite of strong. If they ran real wood through their machines the price would be the same as real wood and it wouldn't have white paper glued to the surfaces as its "finish".
I'm currently removing particle board cabinets (well, actually I'm done) it took about 1/2 hour to remove and took no tools. I could just pull it off the wall because it took only a slight effort to yank them down by hand.

Thank you for the review. I have been going back and forth about where to get my cabinets for my kitchen renovation and IKEA has been on the list. I have put together furniture pieces before but was afraid I would be overwhelmed by all the cabinet parts. I am ready to replace my kitchen this year, which include the floor. I think IKEA cabinets are back at the top of the list. I will have to take another trip to the show room soon.
I really like the idea of being able to easily get all drawers for the lower cabinets and island. Did you put your floor down before installing the cabinets?
