Great detailed and easy to follow instruction. My 2019 NX300 worked exactly as presented. Once E brake was retracted , I was able to further compress the piston and replace the pads.
Wonderful as always! Glad these videos are back (even blurred) they are very valuable and it's annoying that "companies" don't get that a LOT of DIY folks would rather have sound information and do it themselves than taking it to the dealer which does a half ass job or ends up messing something up...etc.
Thank you so much for the video, Viktor! The wire did the trick. I wonder why it works for the other guys which do withouth the wire as shown in several videos. Note to others: You have to pull the switch longer than shown in the video. I had to pull mine for about ten seconds to make it move to the final position (German NX300h model). Also you might have a battery charger in direct access. My battery went down during the procedure. Everything worked well finally. :)
Thank you Viktor for your video, it worked good on my 2020 Lexus NX 300, with the difference that I had to put the jumper 4 spaces from the Left and I had to press down on the brake pedal to release the parking brake motor, just as you said it may happen with the newer models. Luckily I had no fault code. Thanks again!!
Hi this video is also for Europe?Or how can I calibrate the rear brakes on Lexus NX 300h AWD year 2017.I changed the pads and the handbrake works ok.But the pads are very little stuck to the disc.At 50 km distance the back discs get hot.Thank you
Hi, unfortunately I don’t have access to European market vehicle information. There is no adjustment for the parking brake, it is automatic. Possibly something was assembled incorrectly.
Hey. Great video. If the fault code for the brake system is triggered, what scan tool would we need? A bidirectional one or just any scan tool that can read and clear codes? for example will an ANCEL AD310 or bluedriver work to clear the code or do we need a expensive bidirectional scanner? thanks
Hi, there are so many scanners out there and they all have varying capabilities. I’d recommend to contact the scan tool manufacturer or read its owner’s manual for details on what it can do.
@@Viktor_G_Automotive thanks for the reply. I understand what youre saying. but im just asking if any scan tool that will clear the fault codes will work. Hello Viktor! The videos you make are very good! Thank You! Maybe you can help me? My handbrake nx300h 2015 makes a loud, screeching sound when in use. What could be done with it?
I haven’t seen that problem before. Maybe the ebrake motor is damaged or worn out. Maybe the caliper itself is faulty. Determine which side it is coming from and start methodically inspecting to determine the cause.
Hi Viktor, i managed to get myself into maintenance mode and heard the breaks turning out. I can’t do the second part. Getting out of maintenance mode. I get a “electronic parking brake malfunction” on the dash.
Hi, you would need to scan it for fault codes with a scan tool and clear them or diagnose as required. Sometimes the procedure can set a fault code, even if you do everything correctly, but usually it would happen if some step was missed. I mention that in the description below the video.
@@stevenlin6079 yes, will work for models that are built for the North American market and sold in Canada, USA and Mexico. Doesn’t matter if the vehicle was manufactured in Japan or Canada etc.

A few requests not related to breaks system but about nx - any tips or tricks how to improve windshield, side doors windows and side mirriors visibility during rain? even during a small rian, my side windows and mirrors are full of drops so I can hardly see anything. Replacing wiper inserts helped a lot with my windshield. My dealers offers aquapel treatment but I would like to know your opinion on the matter. Unfortunately, no. Here is my video showing one of the ways of retracting the rear parking brake on a 2017 RX: th-cam.com/video/QsGy-xMiGFc/w-d-xo.html
I tried on My NX300h 2014 europe. Doesn’t work. On the step when pulled up 3 times P switch the P light starts blinking slowly, when start to do 3 cycles down the P light goes off and nothing happens.
@@Viktor_G_AutomotiveBTW, I still needed to remove the electric brake motor because to take out top bolt you need a skinny wrench/socket. Full removal not needed but you must turn it few degrees. Craftsman 14mm wrench wouldn't go in. Another interesting thing, caliper bolts had thread lock. But in Highlander there is no thread lock.
I see a lot of the same instructions, but nobody mentioned shorting the connector pins. Is this really necessary step? I have insurance plugin tracker installed right now in that connector...

@@Sinkorswim317 what exactly is “not true”? There are multiple ways to wind the EPB back: with a battery and 2 wires, manually with a ratchet, or by using the method in this video (which is straight from the factory repair manual). Using any of the above 3 methods carries a small risk of setting a fault code that would have to be cleared with a scanner.
