    "Never outshine the master". That is what I accidentally did. The TRUE master at the time loved and encouraged my enthusiasm and growth, but unknownst to me, a co-worker felt threatened, and when the true master moved on, my co-worker was promoted to manager. He became controlling, triangulated me out of my relationships and projects, silo'd me away from others, and then devalued my skill set to the most basic, micromanaged, chaotic, goose-chases of his design. It was very confusing and more subtle than I am describing, as the total process took a couple years. This year I learned what narcissism was, and it rang every bell. Never outshine the master, but DO gather your resources and leave them behind, as no TRUE MASTER would ever feel threatened by being a student.

      @@sabinetsamtsukakis4031 That is a good observation. There is probably another narcissist in the midst of the office that has worn your coworkers down. They see you as someone who hasn't yet been worn down by the narcissist. Narcissists will use a person up, and then discard them and move onto a new "play thing"... it might be that you are the new shiny play thing for a narcissist in the office, and you are going through "Love Bombing" where the narcissist is treating you well in order to reel you into their web. Watch out for people who don't respect basic boundaries... that will likely be the narcissist.

    • @Ikaros23
      @Ikaros23 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@jmfs3497 The narcissist has a "self image" that is a mix of superiority complex and inferiority complex. The first is the mask they where in public, the second is their insecure self. That is they are a mix of grandiose and hyper vulnerable. If they don`t get 100% attension and praise 24/7 they get insecure. A great way to spot a narcissistic leader is that they are always surounded by " yes men/women" and psycofants who praise and boot lick. All people who have orginal ideas, or have points to improve the status QO will either get their ideas and credit stolen from them or they are looked opon as antagonists by the narcissist and the court. For people who want to get ahead in life and grow the best move is to get out of there. The only people who can get ahead there is psycofants and machiavellians, but they are also playing a dangerous game. Years wasted in a environment so toxic has detrimental effect on the mind and confidence. And a optimistis mindset may be broken down and become cynical and toxic. There is nothing to gain long term from a narcissist

    Summarize:
    1. Never outshine the master.
    2. Once you stop your circulation, day-to-day loop. The world will open up to you.
    3. 95% communication is non-verbal.
    3. Be a child. Because the childs don’t think they are superior. They’re defenseless, small.
    4. Work for your passion is the ideal life for anybody. But reality is not.
    5. Pain is great. Pain is pleasurable.
    6. You’re unique, your DNA will never be repeated, the way your brain is wired will never be the same.
    7. The more you get older, the more you’re like other people you spend time with.
    8. Control the people’s perception, then you control their reality.
    9. Having a goal helps avoiding you from depressed.

      @woodspriteful 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To escape survival, you have to take time out for yourself, be intentional about it, commit to a daily practice, no matter what the practice is. If you can do that for a year, you will see change and start to see what I takes to make change - intention and time. You will see how many distractions you've allowed, how many distractions you choose for a short fix to the feeling of 'I'm only surviving." And as you get older, you'll see that those daily practices are required just to sustain survival and that if you haven't committed to them, you're actually falling behind.

      If words are used to deceive then all sentences are deceptive. Including the sentence "words are used to deceive"
      Also it would also logically follow that all Greens' books are deceptive as they use words.
      This quote exposes Greens' lack of precision and poor ability to explain.
      Maybe he meant words can be used to deceive. Which is just obvious

      Rule nr 1: you only get smarter by playing against a smarter oponent.
      Rule nr 2: the more sofisticated the game, the more sofisticated are the players!.
      Most peoples self image ( ego), can’t handle the stress and grinding against smarter players because they are outcome dependent and have a fixed mindset ( a limited mindset, that don’t belive in growt and learning).
      Rule nr 3: the more uncomfortable you can handle to be over time, the stronger you get. Those who only do what they are good at seldom grow. They choose short term gratification, and what feels emotionaly plessant in the here and now compared to " delaid gratification". There is huge power in knowing this. That is you can harvest power and money by investing in selling products and services that exploit others lazyness and lack of abillity to controll their emotions
      Rule 4: choose the pain of learning and maintaining self discipline or choose the pain of regret og self denail.

    I can say I have experienced this a few times, reimaging myself, it’s not easy, but it is amazing. In some ways I am a completely different person now than 25 years ago. Often people run into a “wall” like being fired, attacked, rejected, etc., and they’re done. Not good. Find the way through, over, around or under that “wall” and move on. It may be a new career, new way to use your time, learning something foreign to you…don’t settle for remaining a “failure” in your own mind.

      In my experience, those that have a pattern of blaming others for how you are being treated, lack the ability to see their behavior, which is ultimately the cause of everyone else's actions. Basically, you are behaving in a certain pattern that all of your supervisors react the same way towards you. I owned a cafe and employed many just like you. Their lack of self awareness ultimately cost them their jobs.

      I can totally relate to that. Since 2nd grade, I wanted to be a writer, but my family was very discouraging. They even confiscated my books and my library card. I ended up in the computer industry which, though successful, I hated. Health issues pushed me to retire at 59 and so here I am. Thing is? I am also a wanderer! I learned how to paint, remodel (hate drywall!), make furniture (the sliding barndoor fireplace tv stands are very popular), etc. I also play piano and violin, write songs, design landscapes, etc. I learned natural medicine, so my health is improving. Learning is really fun. And I finally wrote a book I like. So when he says it is over at 60? Wrong! Best of luck to you, and have fun!

    Reading Robert Greenes books changed my life. I just hope it is for the better.
    when I read "The 48 laws of power", I started seeing his laws in action all around me. This made me go into a weird state of depression for about 3 weeks. As a naive and honest young man, thought to think the best in peoples actions, I instead started seeing their deliberate intentions.
    In any case, of all the authors books I've read, non is more honest and spot on about our nature as Robert Greenes.

    Ironic. Of the millions of moments that make up a life, the single most unavoidable experience that's necessary for us to have life itself is birth. Being born. We might not remember the brutality of coming down the birth canal and into the cold harsh world, or being suddenly and forcefully grabbed by strange cold hands and yanked from the warmth of our mother's womb, and yet it's the most shocking, unexpected, brutal, and yet necessary moment of our lives. There is no life without the pain of birth. And yet as adults we immediately run at the first hint of discomfort. We shrink back the moment we're faced with pain. There's a revelation in that somewhere.

    • @Noor-jw2tn
      @Noor-jw2tn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes it's called trauma. We are initiated into and subjected to trauma from the moment we enter the birth canal. There's your revelation.

      Birth is not painful, my daughter was sleeping peaceful when she came out. The uterus contracts to make room for the baby to come out comfortably without being hurt. If the mother pushes the baby out right when the uterus is contracted the baby is not in any pain at all, nor do it suffer. This is a fact. I attended lamaz class through my pregnancy and pushed only during the contraction and my baby came out very peaceful and sleeping.

    • @brandyD33
      @brandyD33 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ladybird491 The unpleasantness of birth is not limited to being squished inside the birth canal.. It is the pain of breathing amniotic fluid one moment, then forcefully coughint out that fluid as you gasp a lung full of polluted earth air. Breathing fluid, then breathing air, requires forecful choke-like coughing. My youngest son was born asleep too. Until he had to breathe air. All of my children cried while trying to breathe their first breath

      "birth pains" is a metaphor for the pains and hardships of beginnings until you master it.

    • @brandyD33
      @brandyD33 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bonicraig9745 Birth pains is a actually a metaphor (dating back to two thousand years ago) for what is literally unfolding on the earth right now. Locusts swarms all across the planet - ravaging entire nations, consuming all the vegetation, leading to massive famine; massive species die-offs globally; plagues and pestilence; wars and rumors of wars ; insane weather patterns never seen before with intense volatility in sudden, unpredictable storms; earthquakes in diverse places increasing in intensity and in frequency; Russia, Iran and Turkey all joining forces against the nation of Israel (they're now allies and are occupying the borders of Israel as we speak - something unheard of until just a few years ago)... every single indicator that Jesus provided in His Word regarding exactly what would happen right before the 7 year tribulation begins IS HAPPENING. The only prophetic event still pending is the complete and total devastation of Damascus. This could happen at any minute (clearly, as Beirut illustrates). Jesus said that just as a woman in labor experiences increasingly painful and frequent "pangs" which indicate the delivery of her child is near, so it will also be with these signs upon the earth as the final seven year tribulation is about to begin.
      To anyone reading this:
      Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. He gave His life as payment for the wages of your sin in order to reconcile you back into His Kingdom for all eternity. He died a brutal death because He LOVES YOU. He gave His life to save yours - because He VALUES YOU, THAT MUCH. Enough to shed His own blood for you, knowing you might still reject Him.
      You do not get to cease existing when this life is over. You are an eternal CREATED being with an eternity that's being determined by the choices you make right now. Receive the mercy of Christ Jesus. Admit you have have sinned (if you aren't sure you have, check out the 10 commandments), and turn away from those sins (this is called repenting). Confess that He is the only Son of God, that He alone can save us. Believe that He has redeemed you from eternal punishment. And start reading the Word of God every day. He will show Himself to be who He says He is, if you seek him sincerely and ask Him to reveal the Truth to you. He's an incredibly loving Savior.. intimacy with Jesus is the only way to be spared from the next 7 years to come.

    So many things I could have done or been. At the age of 65 I see why these things didn't happen, but I have had a very varied and satisfying life nonetheless, and I am now making decisions about new things I want to pursue. Look forward, not back - there is no point at which you should give up.

    40 years later, I stil don't know where I belong.
    When I feel a spark of inspiration, I follow it. Without those passionate sparks, I have nothing. And yet, those sparks always end in failures.

      Keep following that spark. Who or what decided it was a failure? Try to see the illusory bar of 'success' diming your spark, it doesn't even exist in 'real life', only in your mind. If it makes you happy, doesnt have to make you rich. Keep going, these sparks ARE what its all about.

      I completely relate at 45, turning 46 in December. Starting from scratch. It’s absurd but I keep putting one foot in front of the other. Thank you for being open and real; at least you’re not alone in the struggle.

    This validates my decisions in life of not following the norm, of combining my passion with my expertise, of having goals and understanding my uniqueness, of not following the norms, of getting myself out a depression.....very insightful

    I am really trying to move forward with my "quest". I did some language study this morning. Have book on electronics coming. I have most of the tools I need to build projects. Over 50 and I am bringing everything together. It's been fun to hunt for everything I think I'll need.
