His book Mastery was the first book that changed my life completely. I have become a completely different person after reading that book and it serves and influence me to this day. I consider him my mentor and I want to thank him with all my heart. I hope you recover completely from your stroke. Peace.
@Stinkin Joe I treated it like my life's handbook. I wrote a summary of each chapter and kept reading those repeatedly, I would look for situations where I could apply these principles in real life. This book made me rethink my entire life, I changed all my habits, it was my REBIRTH.
I had a bad, bad period where everything overwhelmed me and emotionally I handled it badly. Resentment and vengeance characterized my attituded best. When I finally stopped the dangerous, worthless thinking, I also let go of the hatred and desire for destruction of my perceived enemies. I prayed for their wellbeing instead, and I can't stop smiling and reveling over the sense of spiritual alleviation 💗

I am watching this again just at the right time. Like Robert, I have had illness suddenly and drastically change my physical ability. I spend much of my time at home/in bed and have needed the care of other people at times. He is right about your attitude and mindset. You really have to shift your mindset to acceptance in order to make the best of your situation and transpire; regardless of current limitations.

I had a deep insight after a long intense period of zen meditation many years ago that impressed itself into the rest of my life, and that seems so close to what Greene is talking about here. I saw in an instant that all our lives are an endless circular smokescreen of mental habit. But it's just that! A smokescreen. It's the wisp of a shadow within the totality of All, of Eternity, of incredible Love and Intelligence. I was just blown away. I have been constantly asking myself since then "Who am I?".
3 months before my dad passed away, I read Roberr Greene's book The 50th Laws. It helped me a lot. It saved me frm all negative emotions and helped me to face the truth that my dad is gone forever. But I have faith that one day I will be able to meet him again ❤

Thank you so much for having Robert on this show. I've been an avid reader of his books for YEARS and was thrilled when The Laws of Human Nature was published -- purchased it as an ebook, paperback, and audiobook. Ha! This is just so enlightening... and it's so incredible to listen to him explain his worldview and view on mankind. He's often called a modern Machiavelli (which they don't tend to mean as a compliment), but he isn't -- although he's certainly as sharp as old Niccolo. Sad to see that he's clearly still struggling after suffering a stroke. I was wondering what was going on, but that explained it. I wish him well -- and if he reads this, I'd tell him to take pride in how he can now also teach others (i.e.: readers/viewers) how to come back after such a horrendous experience.
Ok. I'm 15 mins in and I'm already fascinated by this man. I didn't know his books but he's probable got himself a new reader. I love how he tells it as it is: examine yourself everyday and be honest with yourself. Question yourself. Love it! I live by that and it's inspiring to see other people dig deep into that same ideal.
Fantastic interview. Such immense wisdom about the human animal and its true nature contained within this discussion. I'm nearly halfway through this newest book by Robert and while the format is somewhat different from some of his earlier books (they're all amazing!) I believe that this one is his most important book yet in terms of the value he has given to humanity. On another note, Tom is truly an outstanding interviewer; knowledgable, prepared, and his interview style and questions created the environment for his guest to shine. Well-done, gentleman. Thank you for sharing with us!
One of my favorite things to do is observe people, and so, with some many years doing that, I can read their non verbal language easily. Few years ago, when I was married to a person that speak another language, we went to visit his family, and after a month of being there non understanding their language but observing people's non verbal language, I knew all the relationships and all the secrets between each other. It was fascinating. I think visiting another country where you can not use your language all the time is a very humbling and good practice for your mind.
The Delta Yes, I was. My husband was from Iran. We spent a month there every two years. Well, in big gatherings everybody will speak in Farsi and I will observe. And because the language was not there, I could see the non verbal communication, that is as powerful as language. You could do that with family pictures and see which children are close to which parent. As humans, we are always sending messages. Also, when I was working as an architect, we had to do a analysis if public housing in Florida. It was really impressive that after entering in a house, for the few details in the rooms you could tell so much. Who was religious, responsible, organized, good parent, etc. Which were their priorities, etc. What you need to do, is quiet the noise around you and observe. We are always leaving things in our path of who we are, and how we see the world. I think that the best advice to a new parent is not to buy all the gadgets and read all the blogs, but observe the baby and learn what that little being is.
I watched this and then I read Mastery. Mr. Greene became one of my favorite writers! Much love for this show, this is definitely one of the best episodes
Thank the energies that be for keeping Robert Greene on this earth to share such tremendous wisdom with the rest of us. Thank you Robert for the impact you’ve had on my life!
Hi Tom, I don’t usually comment on TH-cam but your interviews are amazing. Thank you for bringing these inspiring individuals to Impact Theory. My life has changed tremendously since I encountered your channel. Whenever there are moments of doubts, I listen to these interviews and feel so inspired again. You are doing wonderful work, keep it up man! Best, Sunny
Its very satisfying to know Robert Greene started practicing Zen Buddhism. Mastery is a testament how the practices he learned has made him a more peaceful and grounded person .... I read almost all his books and dropped them when I started to practice Buddhism. I learned and still learning from my own experience the nature of who we really, as opposed to assuming who and what we are based on reading, and It was a surprise to me, he also changed his path that allowed us to meet again . What he's teaching in Mastery is a product of his evolution under the wing of his practice and a subtle guide to follow the same path... I hope his readers of previous books follows him the journey he points at in Mastery. In my opinion, It is the most realistic book he has ever written and the one that offers the reader benefits that surpasses the collection of all his previous work... A true treasure
Rudolph Steiner takes an interesting stance in that he talks about luciferic and armonic forces of darkness built into the fabric of consiousness in this life that are to be bent to our will. Almost in that as we do that we help overcome darkness in all levels of reality. Kind of a trip to think about when you consider the implications
@@elijahstiner3152 I agree, I made a video about that on my channel using star wars to illustrate it... I also explained how to manage it... The problem is that video is too long, so I gotta redo it, shorter and more entertaining... But check it out if you have time... I definitely bring a unique perspective, would love to ear your feedback
@@WealthEngineering the content is good though some serious time could be cut out by just concentrating on the meat of the issue. Re edit or re record with some more efficiency and it will be easier to follow 👍
@pink Cat very good point. I have no idea why someone would comment such a thing. How could they possibly think that Tom was doing anything but patiently listening???? What an odd and absurd thing to say. Couldn't agree more.
Tom, you are such an exceptionally gifted interviewer. Not only inflection of your voice, quality of your questions, preparedness, you. Don’t. Interrupt. Your guest! So we actually get to hear what they have to say. If I could ask for one thing from other interviewers it would be to follow your example
This episode definitely needs a part two! I have watched most of Robert Greene's interviews and this is by far my favorite! It felt like it was only 20mins long! Thank you, great interview! Couldn't get enough! I was so thrilled when I saw this, two of my favorites!
I love him, and I wish him a very long healthy life and wish for a lot of other great books he will write. He is definitely so influential. Thank you for this interview and thank you for this extraordinary channel.
I've just started reading The Laws of Nature, and I'm blown away. Already life-transforming and it's just the beginning. It feels like this collection of books, is more like a collection of encyclopedias on the human condition. Robert Greene is the answer to the question, 'who would you like to have dinner with if you could choose only one person?' Huge huge adoration. Thanks for bringing this content to the world.
I love that Part from Mastery : “In dealing with fools you must adopt the following philosophy: they are simply a part of life, like rocks or furniture. All of us have foolish sides, moments in which we lose our heads and think more of our ego or short-term goals. It is human nature. Seeing this foolishness within you, you can then accept it in others. This will allow you to smile at their antics, to tolerate their presence as you would a silly child, and to avoid the madness of trying to change them. It is all part of the human comedy, and it is nothing to get upset about or lose sleep over”
this is a very important thing to ever find in my own quick peek before bed and I have a few good time to get a little bit of time to get a information brain nutrient from a quality and the most helpful tips for human interaction and the most greatest gemstone of priceless world of all time insite in the world of the world that we are in now and we have a great opportunity for the quantum leap of a kind of epic universe for the next truth train stopping so if you are a bit awake you better jump on board the rocket you and your enlightment will have a meeting in sky of a uncomfortable moment when you see the unseen .then the first realization is that once you have a experience with the whole universe of people ,things you think you are be able to get along with the whole group now you are a ostracized person and the most common type of gypsy in the place you now have to be in since you are not ever going to be able to go back to. now you are a circumference observer of a even more restrictive and more like the one who is at the margin of the margin . from the few good days you have to be the one who is the witness from a narrrow elevated perch of the same as eagle eyes completely in the simplest way of the world and the more people who are in the world have to be in the place of the unseen order is not a problem for the wholeness is to be realized and the same world is the one that is not perceived by the person who has a lot of our view but not the real uni-verse UNI ~ONE~ VERSE ~ SONG.. Now. the same metaphysical world that is the only one that you have known now becomes your own existential experience.
Tom, besides the amazing content IT offers, I want to say something that really hits me every time and i just love it. Obviously you have done a lot of homework prior to interviewing people, but then your questions are super rich and interesting which enables speakers to also answer in a super informative way. I have watched other podcasts of entrepreneurs who rely on their guest too much! The speaker ends up having a monologue and the "conversation" goes in all directions, instead of following a certain narrative. I also love how sincerely and openly you approach speakers who have gone / are going through difficult moments, like Greene. I particularly liked that you noted his alignment with Erickson and tied it to his (Greene's) current work. Another thing that must be appreciated is how your questions carefully drive the narrative of each IT episode! I love it and Thank you!
In my humble opinion, Mr. Robert Greene's philosophy should be a subject of study in the educational systems all over the World, specifically the one related to dealing with the Laws of human nature, power, strategy and mastery.
Dude, i study philosophy and things what he is talking about is in Socrates Philosophy (I know that I dont know nothing), he even told delphic maxim *know yourself*. He is just talking about basic psychology (with was born from phlisosophy somewhere like 200 years ago). As he said you need only take some books and read...and think about what you read. That is all. I dont know what I target with my comment, just wanna say that if you wanna more try to Plato Dialogues, or Wittgenstein - Tractatus logico-philosophicus. I also suggest Freud - Vorlesungen zur Einführung in die Psychoanalyse (Dont know how to translate this but for sure it is easy to find). That are some laws that we are living with so you dont need to read any books, but you should to know what focus on. :)
Robert Greene was my first exposure to history and self help. The 33 strategies of war lead to my love of reading and psychology. His books are really special. And your interview skills are fantastic. I'm really happy your content ended up in my recommendations when I had a moment to spare.
I can't wait watching this. I started an animated series about the Rules from Robert's book so any interview will help me moving forward with the episodes. This is the Alpha Book. Robert Greene is truly one of the most influential writers of the modern era. A legacy is huge in his case because Ryan Holiday follows his steps.
what a refreshingly sincere genuine human being this man is. Totally agree with the meditation thing. I think it is key to unlocking so much and re-setting the mind.
Tom please dont ever stop doing what you do ; Your impact on the world is priceless , Your impact on me is constantly pushing me to grow .. Thankyou 💞🙏
I'm glad I listen to this conversation. I like hearing this perspective that we're essentially animals trying to become humans. How important it is to question the emotions we feel and observe other people through their non-verbals. I haven't read any of Robert's books yet, but I will put them all on my reading list. Thanks to Tom for being such an amazing interviewer as well.
Was extremely busy, seen the title and that you got Robert Greene on, told myself I'll watch a quick 5 minutes...... 49 minutes, 24 seconds later.. Time well invested

Totally am in awwwww of this Man.. Im finally realizing that i came up with conclusion.many years ago.. . From my insecurities, it made me understand myself.. solidifies my conclusion
Just outstanding. This matter of rigorous self-examination is both the most difficult and most rewarding process. A word of encouragement - emotional health is like building muscle, you can only grow just so fast. Every light bulb that turns on makes you realize there's much more to learn. That's normal. Be patient with yourself! TRY. Think, reflect. We are ALWAYS the authors of our own difficulties and even if you are sure it is not true in your case, taking the position that you are RESPONSIBLE is the most empowering and useful vantage point from which to go forward.
I agree, body language is universal - I have spent almost 30 years with a little dog pal by my side. My husband will say I didn't say that, but it's so funny because he did with his body or tone. I learned a lot from my little dogs. I love listening to Robert Greene's books and watching his interviews. Thanks Tom!
This is guy is best interviewer out there. He gives his undivided attention to a point that the interviews are so intimate. By watching you even forget theyre on a platform and there's an audience ⛮
Understanding the flaws and overcoming it.People never want to reflect on themselves they always want to use others as scapegoats for there own insecurity.Challenge yourself rather than worrying about what someone else is doing or does.Only when you completely discover yourself before you can even begin to interpret or understand others.Forget what you thought you knew and recreate yourself every single day.Know thyself is the golden rule.Thank you Robert Greene....EKJR Modus Operandi Stratigos........

Robert Greene is the father I never had. I learned so much from this wonderful man. I agree and knew what he was saying is true but I need to be reminded every now and then. I have to buy his books.
I learned over a decade ago that the most valuable thing you can give someone is your COMPLETE Undivided attention. (LISTENING WITH BOTH EARS AND COMPREHENDING WHAT THEY ARE SAYING).
also your time is and attention is valuable. "avoid those in life who don't care, deal with those who make an effort" . forgot were i heard that but it's true. if someone is indifferent to you, treats you a certain way, send them love and send them on their way.

Few years ago, when I was married to a person that speak another language, we went to visit his family, and after a month of being there non understanding their language but observing people's non verbal language, I knew all the relationships and all the secrets between each other. It was fascinating.
I think visiting another country where you can not use your language all the time is a very humbling and good practice for your mind.
that's a good idea.
Thank you Impact Theory for having Robert Greene on. What a man!
I watched this and then I read Mastery. Mr. Greene became one of my favorite writers! Much love for this show, this is definitely one of the best episodes
Amazing road to our own awareness!!! Thank you Tom for bringing Robert Green’s views to our attention and for this wonderful interview 🙏
Thank you Tomas and Robert. Robert is getting better and more stronger every day. Warm greetings from cold weather Ireland.🍀
Thank the energies that be for keeping Robert Greene on this earth to share such tremendous wisdom with the rest of us. Thank you Robert for the impact you’ve had on my life!
Hi Tom,
I don’t usually comment on TH-cam but your interviews are amazing. Thank you for bringing these inspiring individuals to Impact Theory. My life has changed tremendously since I encountered your channel. Whenever there are moments of doubts, I listen to these interviews and feel so inspired again. You are doing wonderful work, keep it up man!
Best,
Sunny
The dark side is also part of you, don't ignore it, nor run away from it.. Instead embrace it and control it...
agreed
So vital!
Thank you, Tom, for inviting Robert Greene!!! He is an amazing writer!
Great video. I’ve always been a fan of Robert Greene. I’m happy that he was so open and sincere.
I absolutely love the truth, passion, and beauty that Robert Green has within him. Thank God he can share it. One remarkable human being.
Never out shine the master tom 😁
@pink Cat very good point. I have no idea why someone would comment such a thing. How could they possibly think that Tom was doing anything but patiently listening???? What an odd and absurd thing to say. Couldn't agree more.
@@scottgreen132 i think he was joking 🤷♂️
@@theone7059 I was being facetious
@@scottgreen132 ah I see. Can't really tell on TH-cam since you can find literally all stereotypes of people under one video lmao
@@theone7059 yeah, I found the original comment so ridiculous, I first wrote a retort, then thought better of it and wrote what I wrote.
Tom, you are such an exceptionally gifted interviewer. Not only inflection of your voice, quality of your questions, preparedness, you. Don’t. Interrupt. Your guest! So we actually get to hear what they have to say. If I could ask for one thing from other interviewers it would be to follow your example
This interview was absolutely bucking frilliant! I'm officially sold on Mastery as I've been contemplating on it for the longest time.
Great to see Robert moving forward, after his health scare. Warm greetings from IRELAND. Thank you.
A walking genius! I love his books freaking awesome!!! The best book author period
Best ending to the years 2018 David goggins - Robert Greene
I love that Part from Mastery :
“In dealing with fools you must adopt the following philosophy: they are simply a part of life, like rocks or furniture. It is all part of the human comedy, and it is nothing to get upset about or lose sleep over”
Robert Greene should have been my dad.
DokaRyan I'm your dad now. No worries son
@@Mia_2512 that's dark and somewhat true 😂😂😂
He’s my dad.
🤣😅Krista and DokaRyan: That should make you beautiful siblings.

Now. the same metaphysical world that is the only one that you have known now becomes your own existential experience.
Lol nah that would give the masses power, and those in power do not want that.

I subscribed to your channel good work man wich you the best

what a refreshingly sincere genuine human being this man is. Totally agree with the meditation thing. I think it is key to unlocking so much and re-setting the mind.

Or that you're not the only sociopath walking the streets😉

It's been 6 months! I really wish to see Robert Greene jogging, and I wish him the best, and everybody else around here
Thank you Tom for bringing Robert Greene on the show! Your show is absolutely amazing!

When Tom says "Walk us through..."
I agree, body language is universal - I have spent almost 30 years with a little dog pal by my side. My husband will say I didn't say that, but it's so funny because he did with his body or tone. I learned a lot from my little dogs. I love listening to Robert Greene's books and watching his interviews. Thanks Tom!
One of the best guests yet... (And that's saying a lot)
This is guy is best interviewer out there.
He gives his undivided attention to a point that the interviews are so intimate. By watching you even forget theyre on a platform and there's an audience ⛮
Damn so many good authors, so many good books and so little time! anyway, thank you Tom! another great interview!
Alan Watts, Jordan Peterson and respectively, Robert Greene, had morphed my mind and will continue to do so

I use a Russian roulette version of picking a video to watch while I get ready for work. Love Tom ❤ didn't know Robert. Now love Robert and will be reading a lot of him. On point with so much of what I was already thinking and living through in my life. A grand thanks to both of you, for sharing and doing and being raw about it all!
You explained really well why it's so important to become aware of our dark side so as to let go of it.
I love Robert Green’s books. They have changed my life and the way I view all relationships. I wish I had had these insights as a young person.
Liked and then started watching, cause already know its going to be Amazing!!
This guy is your true definition of a "badass". Everyone needs to hear this. I'm still in awe.
My favourite author without a doubt. "Razer sharp and dripping with powerful insights" Agreed 100 %. BILYEU & GREENE thank you for this candid and powerful conversation. Continue producing legendary content BILYEU.
So nice to KNOW you exist Robert Greene. Be well and live long.
Wow this is wonderful! Just shared with three people! Going to get ‘Mastery’ and start following this guy!
How calm is he!
