Few things: 1) AT&T does network management at 22GB, not throttling. Unless you are on a congested tower you should see no slowdown. 2) The hotspot can be run without the battery from an external power source. This is huge for people with regular heavy use as they can leave it on all the time without damaging the battery by keeping it under constant charge. 3) The ethernet port can also be used to connect any network device as a client (the firmware update you mentioned). 4) It can also do "travel router" duty via WiFi avoiding cellular data usage. 5) There is conflicting data out there on the external antenna performance but one thing that seems to be agreed upon is that doing so will disable the internal 4x4 MIMO and run the unit in 2x2 MIMO (assuming you use a MIMO antenna with two connectors). External vs. internal being better seems very location dependent so it's wise to try both. 6) It has great advanced configuration and status reporting via a very easy to use admin website.
ATT has RECENTLY started throttling hotspots after 15 GB since the end of June. You will NOT get full LTE speeds after the 15GB threshold on regular Unlimited Consumer plans.
RETNUH GAMING I'll have to look him up. I can't find any AT&T velocity hotspots anywhere, I've looked, it's like they've stopped making them are came out with a new 1.
RETNUH GAMING i bet those people making a killing on those things. I bet the 1's who are jacking up the price losing out on customers though... on a seller who is a lot cheaper, and who's offering the same exact thing.
Hey guys. Love your channel. Please repeat the questions before you answer them because we can't clearly hear the person relaying them from viewers. Part of the problem is the music in the background. Please drop the music or lower the volume way down. Please!
a couple of points to clarify wrong info on this video. the reason you would want this over using a note 8 is because of the data cap. hotspot on a phone and your limited to 10GB. on this hotspot, you add it as a device and you get 22GB and deprioritized after that, ONLY IF THE TOWER IS CONGESTED, on the unlimited plus plan. myself i have put 200GB on it for the last 2 months with zero throttling. i use it for my primary home internet. in a big city where ATT is the major carrier you will probably see throttled connections but i havent verified that as of yet.
And there 80% wrong. These people here. Oh boy. There like the rest that think everyone on the internet are dumb rocks and can't think for themselves. Come on people if lying do a better job
So did you just add another line to your unlimited plus plan and take the sim and use in the hotspot so in other words I need to actually set it up as a phone first?
Never understood mobile hotspots, but now I'm so grateful for them. My wife and I swapped from AT&T and saved a ton of money by going with T-Mobile. But then we found out that our service in my wife's small MS hometown is absolutely garbage. So we bought this, got it added to my Brother in law's plan, and now have AT&T coverage at her house again.
Setting the right expectations. Im on a plan that offers unlimited usage off this device. I average 300 to 400 gig of data per month and it docent lag . Im also pretty close to a cell tower so my speeds are usually around 100mb per second.
Night hawk is not just for AT&T. It also work for T-Mobile. You just have to unlock it. Pluss Night Hawk will make AT&T or T-MOBILE plan became truly Unlimited. IT WILL MAKE ANY PLAN BECAME TRULY HOTSPOT UNLIMITED DATA WITH NO SLOWING DOWN. EVEN THOUGH YOU PASS YOUR 20GB.
Great review, but the questions asked were hard to hear. It would help if you repeated the question so we know what you're addressing. I understand time constraints, but for some answers it was difficult to apply them to a subject, so the time was a little wasted.
It will also work in Verizon and T-Mobile if you unlock it and they have band 2 and band 4 in your area. Make sure you set the correct APN and if your hotspot is throttled, you can fool the network into thinking it's a phone by changing your TTL to 65. That ethernet port can be used to connect to another router to bypass the 20 device limit.
timestamp 14:11 (not intended to replace internet) yet... "I've hear that there is a firmware update" enables use of port to export internet via usb port... very interesting. (also I came here after finding there is an UNLOCKED version of this)
@@esteotroblog you just pull your existing sim from your currently activated device. If you only have one phone, pull the sim, buy a 3n1 sim adapter cause your phones sim is smaller, so place it in a adapter to make it fit, adapters can b bought for 1 ta 8 dollars. It's the middle one. Pop it in hotspot, it'll say need to activate at first, but than it'll come alive!
I have a question, I have this hot spot and I’m not able to connect my Epson Workforce 4630 printer to it. I need a SSID number to connect to the printer but I don’t know what that is.
I bought a Nighthawk Netgear from eBay and took it to the AT&T store and had them set it up with a phone number and they installed a 5G sims card it came with a regular card. I live 2.1 miles from a 5G tower. The Download speed is from 69Mbps to 82Mbps. The upload isn't that great I just checked it and it was 1.2. It doesn't bother me, I just wanted it for streaming. Thunder storm or heavy rain doesn't effect the speed. I tried T-Mobil Hot Spot and the white home entertainment Hot Spot, with negative results. This little device really amazes me.
I replaced cox cable for TV and Internet with AT&T. I use the AT&T mobile hotspot router. I have connected this mobile router to a WINK device with an ethernet cable. I want to extend the reach of my wifi. I use a DOME smart plug to get wifi for MyQ Smart home. What other can I extend the reach of my wifi router? Another question is why would you disable wifi for this mobile router? Would this be so only one device can be connected with an ethernet cable?
1.Does this have to use actual signal from phone towers? Because where I live we have no cell phone service and have only centurylink and hughsnet and centurylink is extremely slow and I cant play any multiplayer games online with it so will this allow me to use the portable wifi without the use of cell phone service? 2. Would this work with Verizon?
I just got this through Ooredoo Mobile here in Kuwait with a 1TB a month plan for 12KD a month, about $36 USD. That includes 2KD, about $6 USD, a month router rental fee on a 2 year contract. Glad I'm not using this on my AT&T plan back in the states.
Bradley Jordan Thanks I was wondering if anyone from Kuwait got this. I see ooredoo have it for contract but I think I'll get the 500GB 8kd month no contract. How is it for gaming if you know?
I live in a rural area and I'm stuck with hughesnet 20g data cap and it's slow af. att has decent service in my area. I love online gaming and wondering if this would be my best bet?
this just popped up on feed. Go ahead cut cord I left xfinity bcuz they were to high 200 bucks and 1tb data cap that would get flown through. I went with m1 nighthawk for about 160 unlocked on eBay on amazon they're about 300 and ppl are paying! But now I'm paying 30 a month for internet. From what I've seen ppl that stay 10-20 mi away from a tower they're still getting 15-20 Mbps DL but you throw a quick install antenna up could shoot well up to 50-100 Mbps DL n that's living miles and miles away from cell tower. Nighthawk is pretty good not going to I was pretty sceptical until I was able to tell xfinity to F off paying for local channels ridiculous! Well good luck
Saw a couple other reviews of this that claimed you could get an unlocked version of this that let you use other carriers. I'm intrerested if I could use T-Mobiles unlimited, unthrottled plan. Is it 5g ready?
Can I plug a Desktop into the Cat 6 port on the back of this router and use that for internet, or does the cat 6 port only support out going bandwidth?
If T-Mobile offered a version of this we could get 60 to 80 mbps download, unlimited with no caps ! Come on T-Mobile ! Bring back the @ home unlimited data service again !! You're offering this type of service in Poland and they love it. Why can't we have it back again? It's been ten years now!
Mine overheats if it's charging and being used at the same time :/ I can take the battery out and plug it into the wall and it works fine. Does not work for me whatsoever if I have to charge it. Is there a solution?
If plan on getting this and have a LTE Tablet around check to see if compatible with AT&T and buy a Prepaid BYOD sim and buy hotspot full price. Setting up the sim by using the IMEI from Tablet and setting it up with $30 Unlimited plan. Then putting sim in the hotspot and should work.
How can I set it up To use it with my Netgear router AC1750 ( not the Netgear hot spot )with the Ethernet cable I try it but the internet don't work on the router Netgear AC1750 I want to spread the signal in my house plus I order a Vonage internet phone but still won't work with either the AT&t hot spot Ethernet entrance or the router need help

When they said the RJ45 port would bring ethernet broadband to the wifi, they should have also said the reverse: Internet connectivity to its wifi from the telco ALSO puts that connectivity on the RJ45 port for nonwireless devices (via a switch). Or, put the Netgear in nonrouter mode and bring your own router's wan port to it.
The hotspot has to be on an AT&T data plan but any devices connecting to the hotspot itself will be connecting to WiFi put out by the hotspot so the provider of the phone that's connecting to the hotspot does not matter. (It's just like connecting to the WiFi at McDonald's for your friends phone.)

I burn 200 to 300 gb on my hotspot and they never slowed me down.
Mathgasm idk used my whole 22gb n for some reason it slowed down first time n it sucks. This never happened until now
Network management is a form of censorahip and ciolates net neutrality

I've burned my cell phones data to passed 100gb, and my phones hotspot (which should be counted differently) also passed 100gb
Sadly for some of us, this is one of the only options for home internet.

for "unlimited," fast, wifi.

nothings perfect..Verizon has the bomb coverage, but wack hotspot devices. ATT has bomb hotspot, but wack plans.

Does this device com with a static public ip address, or will AT&T allow you to pay for one.
Thanks
I use my Sony camera to stream events and plan on getting a mobile hotspot from my carrier tmobile.
Will the netgear nighthawk M1 work well for me?

So if we are on a t-mobil plan can we get the at&t hotspot? Bc the t-mobil one sucks
Does this have to have your data plan?
but it doesn't use hot spot data? It uses cellular data, like a phone plan?
Do you need to activate a line in order to use the data plan ?
Does this use NAT B (network address translation) for mobile hotspot?

What data plan works on this device ? I have an unlocked device, but am confused as to where to get the data plan.
Can this be used to replace your regular ISP service?
Can I use this even if I have sprint carrier? And for online gaming?
Can I connect my verizon phone to this hotspot?

Tony Bowyer how can I get the unlimited plan
There are also 2 more antenna ports inside the modem, you just have to do some modding to get to them. EDIT: that only appears to work for the AU.
But they're only good in AU

5 g is in testing now and will be out next year 2019 just look it up is scheduled to come out 2019
unfortunately that's wrong, 5g is still years away
5g has been around for awhile just not to consumers
How many Mbps does it get?
This device can also double has an "iPad" 😉
9:25 if you own the hotspot, you can just request unlock code. I tried on Verizon, it works fine.
I'm curious about your experience with this device using Verizon I'm about to do the same it'd be nice to hear from someone who's actually done it
Will this work with straight talk bring your own tablet? (AT&T)?
I wonder if this device works on cricket wireless??
