The line I was expecting the whole time, and instead Flowey refers to himself.
The line i was expecting was "fire in da hole"
Cause Flowey is the one in control here, he is the one at the end of the day doing the resets and the savings and the loadings. Clover has no control over the situation.
there's a moment in the main game after u beat omega flowey and choose to spare him. he looks at the player, disgust and venom in his eyes, and asks, "what are you doing? do you really think i've learned anything from this? no."
this game... makes that line hurt so much more. because... we SEE how much work flowey has put into this plan. he schemed for YEARS, pushing things in the right direction, manipulating humans like clover, all to enact his plan to become god. this is his reason for being, the mission that he has dedicated his life to since even before undertale yellow began.
and yet... once it all comes crashing down and frisk defeats him anyway... it becomes nothing. just a failed experiment. flowey won't learn anything from this because he CAN'T learn anything from this. he's physically incapable of it. spare him, and he'll just brush himself off and form a new plan.
it's absolutely heartbreaking. until you free him and turn him back into asriel, flowey is a prisoner of himself. he feels no remorse, no guilt, and so he physically cannot learn from his own mistakes. watching frisk spare him after having played this game... it's haunting, it's pathetic, and it hurts.
UTY fits into undertale's lore perfectly, and i absolutely love it for that.

Undertale Yellow honestly does a great job of recontextualising a good amount of details in Undertale, but one thing I wasn't sure it did was for Flowey. You don't really expect him to be helping you like he does…but of course, that's just for Pacifist. Flowey once again steals the show at the end in a Neutral playthrough, fittingly, and I feel the third conversation especially helps lead into Undertale's Flowey. The struggles of ending up in the same circumstance no matter what actions are taken, realising Clover isn’t the one for his plan, and that he's going to act differently next time to ensure his plan happens in the end with the next human.
There’s a 5th ending. Your fun value must be above 70 to trigger it however, and it only plays after the ending has been done once. On the 2nd and subsequent play throughs, that’s when it can happen

The only thing I don't like is how vague the clues about "make different decisions" are (and they only get less and less as runs keep repeating), from a complete newbie perspective it might be difficult to figure out exactly what that means -- by contrast, at the end of base Undertale, Flowey appears and gives some direct clues on how to eventually get a True Pacifist run
To be fair about the clues being mofe vague. I don't think anyone is playing Undertale Yellow if they aren't already a fan of Undertale. So everyone who is playing would already know that a true pacifist ending exists

Being realistic though, how possible it is for someone to play Undertale Yellow without having played or at least watched any of the Undertale routes? Not only would it be kinda silly but the Yellow experience is way better by playing UT first and then going to Yellow, not the other way around. Even if it's in a prequel setting.

Any evidence for that statement? Just because it was designed that way doesn't make it true.
@@satgursseveral plot points would leave people very confused if they did not have knowledge of Undertale beforehand. Anything relating to the lab, for example.

One thing I'm curious about
Why did Clover's memory only start retaining *after* Flowey tampered with the lever?
Maybe they were getting more determined each run?

Simple answer: it doesn’t. The player obviously doesn’t get their memories wiped so that’s why ‘Clover’ beats enemies faster and stuff
@@_Exalted_ That's the excuse for vanilla Undertale, as we learn in the genocide route that the soul is just literally the player, not some in game character separate from it like in Deltarune.
But in Yellow, we learn in this route that Clover has been followed and guided by flowey for many runs before that played out similarly to vanilla Undertale, and it was implied that Flowey was the one that caused the changes in outcome that ultimately led to nothing but a later death.
Our first played run in this game is also Flowey's first attempt at tampering the lever, and he only notices several neutrals in that the soul is starting to remember things.
Maybe the routes in the Dark Ruins are enough to trigger enough determination for Clover to remember his runs?

Why cant there be an ending where flowey's plan suceeds
There's never not anything standing in his way - he needed Frisk to kill Asgore for him, because he couldn't stand a chance alone otherwise; he needed Frisk's SOUL for that little extra edge into TRUE godhood, and Frisk obviously won't stay dead; he's his own roadblock, in a way, because he can't stop himself from toying with his victims, which in Clover AND Frisk's case meant he set himself up to lose the fight as soon as it even started; etc.
In other words, Flowey's plans were always entirely flawed, simple as that. He was never going to win.
How does flowey exist again? Didn't the yellow soul get used for the determination experiments??? Flowey can at most go back to his point of creation right???
We don’t know exactly which soul was used to make Flowey, but because of what he says, it was probably one of the first humans to fall. That would be something cool to explore in a different fan game though
