      Hi! Yes, she will do fine, Make sure to keep soil breathable with cactus mix/orchid bark etc, and don’t place her where she will get scorched by sun, next to a shady tree should be a good spot. And she propagates easy so I would consider adding those new plants to make a nice big bed of fishbone cactus to compliment your garden. 😀😍

      @@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Happy to hear that. I know that video taping can be very time consuming. I know. It may take me 20 to film something and 3 hours to produce it and post.

    Fish-bone/zigzag cactus can be synonyms for Discocactus aguliger. The synonyms are valid. The broader term is FISH BONE CACTUS for three genera of cacti with these distinctive stems: Discocactus, Selenicereus and Weberocereus.
    Yes. These are all varieties/ciltivars/hybrids of THE SAME three genera 😅
    That's the problen with common names. They are not so cut and dried as we want to think. I think for a change the scientific name is just as easy to remember.

      Im sorry to hear. You can try scraping them off and/or applying Neem oil. But you will need to reapply Neem oil in about 7 days, to catch any new ones. 😀🪴

    I've had a fishbone cactus for a few years now, but I seem to get spaghetti thin new growth. It seems to be related to fertilizing? I use a cactus specific fertilizer. I've tried different light positions, but doesn't seem to help. In summer I hang it on a tree limb outside. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. Hmmm, I dont think its fertilizer. I'm thinking your soil might need a refresh. What type of soil is she growing in? 😀🪴

      @@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN The plant was pretty much fully grown when bought (hirts gardens). It seems like it's a fast draining mix, but that's all I can tell you about it.

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback. I still think the thinning leaves is from insufficient soil. So I would suggest potting up your fishbone with a new potting mix: 60% cactus soil+20% worm castings+ 10% perlite+ 10% orchid mix. And dash of Bigfoot mycorrhizal. The orchid mix and perlite will help with good drainage and worm castings with nutrients.😀🪴

    What can I do if my Fishbone got sun burned

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, sorry to hear that, I would move the fishbone to a medium light area ( no direct sun) and I let the plant work through it, maybe she will continue to grow and put on new growth, but if she doesn't grow from sunburn you could try cutting out the sunburned segments and then with the other healthy segments you could try propagating (direct to soil or water method). The fishbone plant is easy to propagate. Hope this helps!😀🪴

    Do you have any Alocasia?

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did have a beautiful A. Polly, but she was attacked by spider mites and lost her. Coming soon we will be adding more tropicals to our house plant forest like alocasias after we make more room on some of our plant shelves.😀🪴
