I have one of these and she’s doing AMAZING and is literally one of the easiest plants I’ve ever owned! Also when I first got this we were at a tulip festival and they were selling plants so I got it but it was suuuper windy and all of the branches broke a little but not completely and within a week it had repaired itself somehow and mended the leaves back together!
I am so glad to find you again. I thought I lost you. I have been looking for your channel. I just could not remember the its name. Now I feel much better. I must tell you ever since I watched your video on the jade plants. I have been hoping mine would grow like yours.
I got a long strand cutting for free with a purchase at my local plant nursery and I didn't know what it was...lol! So, I cut it up and stuck it in soil. I lost 3 cuttings but 3 survived...YAY! I used chunky soil mix and it seems to LUV it...🌹💃🌿😍 I can't wait til mine looks like yours! 💝
I really love my epiphytes cactus. I have at least 7 types. I keep them together and they are so happy : your care instructions are accurate. They also prefer cooler nights but warmer days. I am dreaming of the day (night) the blooms happen.
Very informative video once again! Wanted to mention another way to recognize if you have scale on your plant is you will see a sticky substance around the surface that the plant is sitting on. It’s the only bug I have had on some of my plants. It will spread easily so check other plants surrounding the infected one and isolate!
Pro-tip: for fertilizer, I find epiphytic cacti like a little more nitrogen than 2-7-7. I've found tomato fertilizer to work really well (ratio of roughly 2-1-3 ratio. e.g 7-4-10 or 10-5-15). Nice plant btw!
Epiphytes do well with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season, 10-10-10, then switch to a 0-10-10 just before the blooming season. Water very sparingly in winter. They love very bright indirect or filtered light and frost will kill them. They thrive in moist, well draining acidic soil.
I've been considering plants to mount on wood and hang on the wall, like the stag horn fern, orchids, bromeliads etc. Now I have another one to consider! That would look so cool hanging above my fireplace 🌿
Several Cactus Growers, including Lynn from desert plants if Avalon highly recommend a basic tomato fertilizer. Organic or inorganic. Not an expert but I love jungle cactus. Another TH-cam Channel that I would highly recommend is simply called epiphytic based in Wisconsin! I got a Fernleaf cactus in November and it's finally starting to put out new growth. I put all of mine outside in shade / dappled/ Setting Sun during the summer and they grow quite quickly!
Absolutely love this plant! Your soil mix looks like what I use for epiphytes. My plants love the humid summers outside. Definitely not full sun bright light and some shade. I plant mine in slotted plastic orchid pots they add air flow to the roots.
Until I got into orchids, scale was only a pest I read about in books. I have only once seen it on any other plant--a ZZ Plant given to me as a premium on a fairly large purchase. I'd had it for quite a time before they reared their ugly heads. What you describe for treating it is good, but I would also add spray with End All or similar product after going over the plant as you describe. What you describe will get rid of the adults, but the young scale insect is a little more mobile, and tiny, hence the need for a little follow-up. Keep on with your informative videos!
Thanks Rob for the extra information. I had scale once on a Ming Aralia. Another viewer commented about the sticky sap they produce and that was the thing I first noticed, but forgot to mention in the video.
I'm here because I love this plant and I've killed 2 and cant understand what I've done wrong because I really want to try again. Mine have always gotten black soft spots on them or black crispy spots ...
Wow that's a really interesting plant. I've never seen this one before. Would the care be similar or same for a ric rack cactus? Thanks for the tutorial. Always enjoy your videos.
Hey Joe. This one has not bloomed for me yet either, but I do have a queen of the night cactus which gets much more light. I've only had it for a bit more then a year and I have what looks like two smaller flower buds popping through! Maybe try some higher light
I have a massive fern leaf I bought already massive ... pushing out new growth all over the place (hooray!) but i don't have the new growth on a support like the main plant (back support) - the new leaves are much smaller ... do the leaves grow bigger over time or do they only grow larger if they are on a support like some of my philodendrons? the new leaves are an inch or two only while the leaves on the original plant are 5 to 6 inches!

Me perturba que al principio toque una y otra y otra vez la misma parte del cactus, la misma hoja, la vuelve a tocar la misma hoja...es desesperante!!!🤯

I feel like Wildfern is going to watch this and drool, haha. I know this is one of her wishlist plants! And rightfully so. It's gorgeous!
I already sent her my IG post about this plant lol. I think we will be doing some sort of plant trade and doing a video about it!
@@EverythingPlants Yesss! That is super exciting! Can't wait for that video.
This is so helpful, i got one two weeks ago but it seems getting yellow from stem. i will follow your steps to adjust the care❤

@@EverythingPlants I will, thanks
Love this plant 🪴 it is one of my favorites that I have and grows quickly from cuttings . Great video 💙✌
Thanks Suzettte!
Love your all purpose tool! The yellow pencil. Ha!

Thanks so much Kathryn 👋 I can't wait for the blooms either
I really enjoyed your video. I just bought one last week ...I love it!! 😍💚
Wonderful! They are so beautiful. Thanks for watching Carmel.
Wow this video is just in time mine has been growing really small leaves.
Give it time. I hope this video helped you with your plant.

Thanks Justin....I never really understood why the nitrogen is lower for cactus/succulents. I have the foliage pro 9-3-6 which I'll use next time. 👍

Such a detailed video! Thank you!

@@EverythingPlants No very good video!
My wish list just got longer. I like this one a lot! Thanks for all the info.
Sorry, not sorry! 🤣
@@EverythingPlants Cheeky! can you try rooting in pearlite next time instead of your soil mix? It's my favorite rooting medium.

Awesome! Let me know what you thought of the video!
Great information! I’m thinking of getting one.
I highly recommend it
Bet you were fuming when that happened😂 Lovely looking plant.
When I killed the first one? Ya, I wasn't too happy 🤣
I'm hoping to find one of these beauties this year.
I hope you do, because they are so worth it.
That is beautiful
Thanks Diana!
ooohhh... I am on the look out for this... hopping to find one soon :)

Very pretty.

I don't have the ric rac, but they are similar plants so I'll assume the care would be the same!
I bought a fishbone cactus thinking it was a Fern leaf cactus and so now I will have both when I finally get the right one! 😄🍀🪴🌷
They are such cool plants and I hope you get the correct one soon!
I have had one for 30 years now. I’ve made many small pots from cuttings. It’s never bloomed.

What is that leather looking bag you have your dirt mix in? Can you provide a king where you got that?
It's a repotting mat that I bought off Amazon a few years ago. I'll check later if I can find the link for you
Thank you 😃
Thanks for watching!

I would love to get a piece of this plant I can buy it from you if it's okay please let me know have a blessed evening❤❤
There are some mealy bugs on leaves.
I bought it twice and twice they died. I think I was giving it too much sunlight.
That was my issue the first time too. I hope the video helped you with the care of this gorgeous plant!
I can never do just 7 drops 🤣
Do you mistakenly put in 8? 🤣
