    In this multi part segment we go over the rust issues and begin to remove the rust and fit the new panels. This is a typical example of 02-07 impreza chassis condition from southern Ontario, Canada.
    Rust proof your vehicle before it gets to this state... or just live where there is no salt.
    Its too late to simply spray rusty cars with oil to try and preserve them at this age. So we break out the grinder and welder with a step by step complete restoration.

    I'm a pretty well rounded mechanic and welder and I dabbled in Subarus in the past 12 most and really like the brand and It amazes me how abused most of them are. WRX specifically. I believe 90% of these cars are owned and operated by children that get sold to other children. It is a shame really. It also certainly don't help that Subaru did a piss poor job making their AWD cars not withstand salt. I recently crashed my 04 Impreza Wagon because the Wishbones snapped and was really amazed how rusted out these cars are after such little time. This must be the Sanctuary where these cars get unfucked and put back together.

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very sad and very true my friend. As these cars became cheap, the youths got ahold of them and the rest is history.
      Then for rust compare these year subarus to same year vw’s and the vws are near still rust free.
      We are definitely the sanctuary to extend their life’s. But even ill admit, its always best to start with the least rusty car if your going to put money into.
      I own a dozen+ subarus, i rather pay more for a rust free example then to do rust repairs on my own cars 🤔

I am 'possessed' by a 240.000miles Forrester 2002 (although certificate states I own it!), which I love. Tell me where about are you; I'll consider going there if in Canada and not too far? I would rather take it there my self and fly back later to return for it. Any ideas as to the cost of it? Thank you guys for filming this educational service. My bugeye isn’t near this bad. It was a northern car but I’ve owned it in florida for the last ten years. Most of the suspension and odd parts are already replaced. I have a minimal bubbling and small spots from scratches. The rockers are a little eaten up from being lifted but they’re not even worth replacing. This gave me all the motivation I need to not drive it in the winter when I move to oregon; I’ll get a new WRX for that 😉

    Hey, I have a 2006 WRX wagon that I was hoping to keep driving for much, much longer. I am the original owner as I bought it new. This week the service place put it on a jack and they essentially said the rust is so bad that I should consider replacing the car. My car isn't anywhere near as bad as the one you show here, not even close. I'd rather not put money into buy one of these crappy new cars and was wondering typically how much would the restoration you showed set someone back. All the corrosion in mine is on the underside, both sides along the 4 doors and around the rear wells forward of the wheel on both sides and in the area around the gas filler cap.Otherwise there's no visible corrosion in the cabin under the carpets or in the trunk. I'd rather spend some money trying to repair what I have as opposed to spending more money on a newer vehicle that is so full of crap that is designed to fail. Thanks for your thoughts.

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey buddy, typically doing rockers lets say inner and outer is 3-4k (Canadian $)
      Doors arnt worth fixing vs replacing them with good doors.

    • @vincei4252
      @vincei4252 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheSubieSanctuary Thank you for the information. All my doors appear to be in good condition, there's no visible outer corrosion or bubbling of the paint that I can see. There's a place in the next town over that renovates cars, I'll take mine over to them tomorrow to see what their thoughts are. If I was in Canada I'd definitely bring my car to you guys. All the best. Cheers.

    Subaru forester rear shock towers?
    How big a job to weld/repair....honestly?

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rotted from the From the inside or the outside between shock and quarter panel.
      Both are really common, neither are fun but since both are unseen after interior back in etc. It leaves you able to do a solid job without spending a lot of time on a factory finish after. If you can cut, weld and grind then you are capable of doing a good shock tower repair.
      Its not too bad, might spend a few days to do it
