How does the 20X compare in performance/ driving to the 255/257?
They do have less bottom end power and less torque over entire power band. But they will make the HP pretty easily as their original 255/257. In most stock scenarios, people hardly notice a difference in the bottom end power
In the fuel filler door the outer skin is seam sealed to the inner, but what did you do to attach the repair panel?
Get out the foam stuff the best you can, could use panel bond inside. The foam is what causing them to start rusting near the gas door 🥲

Hey man I’m in the middle of doing this specific swap on a family friends 09 outback. About to put the motor in and I realize the oil pan on the JDM 2.0 is dented. What do you know about oil pan compatibility? I’ve read different things so not sure about what part I should order
You can order the same oil pan for the 2009 outback and it will fit the same no problem

Awesome stuff. I’ve always wanted to do this to my Hawkeye so this video/series is awesome great resource. Personally I’ve been more interested in the launcesport kit which seems to be more of a tarmac spec wheel arc for some better fitment styling. I believe that kit also comes with an added rear door extension rather than a whole new fibreglass one. Really cool to see guys!
You would not be disappointed in the luansport, have their kit for a coupe. Great quality

I used to own an ‘07 Fit Sport, it was an awesome little hatch, all it needed was more power, but with just a few mods it handled superbly.
They are sweet, They can be great little track cars too with some basic stuff

Glad youve saved another XT ive got a Red xt here in Scotland same story but it was £1750 with a years ticket cant complain its a manual most are automatic had too buy it from England as no manuals in Scotland

Nice build! Just one thing tho, the interior stuff should have been detailed before the stuff was placed inside.
Carpet, floor mats, steering wheel were new. Rear seats steam cleaned, front seat bolsters were cleaned and each plastic was washed before install. I can only fit some much of the 370hrs into 10 mins. Its all in previous vids though

Thats a good question! No it is not factory, im unsure where he got it from but i also really like it myself. He said the brand is “liberal areo” I have a 05 legacy wagon myself, I want one too
I got it from some guy who came up to me years ago and said something along the lines of “I ordered this from Japan, my car got written off before it got here, I’d like you yo have it” but I insisted he let me pay for it. Super nice guy, no idea where to find them now, but it was apparently shipped in from Japan. There is also someone in western USA that was making a wing that looked very similar, but I can’t find the link right now

Hey there, so will this work in a 2003 Impreza ts? Any major parts I may need to change? I've heard something about dealing cams and cam gears?
So if i did all this and went with bigger injectors and vf48 turbo and tune would i be ok
Absolutely! Even if you used the pink sti injectors or the dark blue 255/257 injectors youd easily be able to hit 270-280whp after a tune

That carpet was a nightmare to try and get it decent. It did tone down a lot after the black floor mats. It worked out nice in the end

That 2L DOHC sounds exactly as it should! I've got a '98 with well over 400,000 kms on it. Throw some sway bars on the front and rear (if you haven't already), and take it down a twisty road! I think you'll enjoy this car!

@@TheSubieSanctuary that is very generous of you to offer. I saw in this video it didn't look like you swapped the driver's side cam gear or crank gear from original engine. Can you explain why that wasn't necessary in this swap? Also, is a new timing belt generally a good idea and where/how would I find the right belt for my swap EJ20? Is it the same belt on many EJs? Is it something I can get easily, like a Subaru parts dept or other retailer? Thanks in advance. I do see in a previous question about timing kit, you said: "if your 205 comes with oil cooler then you’ll order timing kit for 02-07 wrx and if your 205 comes without oil cooler then you’ll order timing kit for 08-14 wrx"
@@poneil this jdm 205 was a 32 bit ecu type engine, going into a 32 bit ecu type car. No need to swap cam or crank gears, they are the same. Also, yes follow the timing belt types depending on with or without oil cooler.
@@TheSubieSanctuary ok, one more question :) my '04 FXT is an automatic. isn't there a cam/crank gear swap necessary if the donor 205 wasn't an automatic? thank you!
@@poneil they are all the same even if auto vs manual among all subarus that were originally 255 or 257. If you think you need to change cam or crank gear on your jdm engine then you are getting the wrong engine and will have bigger issues then just the cam and crank gear. Like the cam shafts, and machining the cyl heads to accept 32 bit cam angle sensors. Be sure to buy the jdm 205 with the plastic intake manifold, same as we used in the video. The jdm 205 with the cast aluminum intake manifold is a huge mission to get going in replace of a 255 or 257
I think you got lucky on this one as SoC sadly won't bring in JDM parts due to safety concerns. For this particular part it seems it was in stock at Subaru of America as the JDM V5/V6 bumper was standard on the American 99-00 2.5RS. The USDM bumper beam is NLA so maybe they carry JDM beam instead.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just put the 2.5 heads on the 2.0 block and use back all the 2.5 harness and accessories just asking has it just pick up a blown up 2013 wrx.
A few reasons why a 2.0 block and 2.5 heads would be more difficult and more $ defeating to purpose of a $1k engine swap. As far as I know, 2.5 block and 2.0 heads will work but not so much the other way around. Hope that helps, we also have an 08-14 wrx how to swap vid with this same engine. Its the same process just different visuals

@@johnsondominique57 for the 08-14 wrx you will need the ej20Y engine because it has the air pump. You will have no codes, it is recommended to get a tune though for sake of displacement and timing. It can be tuned with a cobb ap or done via opensource or ecutek.

I'm lost, you used the jdm 2015+ sti ej20 into 2015+ usdm sti? Retaining the jdm's twin scroll and all that? That's not what's going on here, or is it? Cause that would be the awesome thing to do.
We used a jdm “ej20y” they typically are found in japanese 08-14 wrx’s they do come twinscroll, you can use the twinscroll stuff but that requires twinscroll downpipe. We used the domestic sti’s exhaust and turbo in this swap.
@@TheSubieSanctuary yea my interest would basically do the engine of the last final edition of VA JDM EJ20 with the twinscroll into the left hand car. with the twin scroll. I can imagine there's a good reason why it must be so much better but i wonder if that requires ecu, electric or any other issue with it. that would be a nice project you could do.
@@dwori the jdm va 207 with twinscroll would work in our usdm va sti without issue on our usdm ecu. Just need a tune. Those engines are typically half the price of a va sti. Still too new to be affordable, but the 207’s are unbeatable in reliability and rev range

The are a great set “tein flex z” all teins are unfortunately green 🥲 and your right they are a bit of a clash underneath. I do have some never used custom made fortune autos (all black) but I plan on saving them for my coupe build
