Just wanted to post here. @Trovarion, You've always provided some of the highest quality and most insightful videos. I always appreciate the time you take to go through each technique and provide feedback for your viewers. I've only been painting a few years but have grown as a painter specifically due to your content. Thanks for all you do man.
These unifying color tips are majorly helpful. Even the ad is helpful. Corvus Belli recently won me over with Infinity and Warcrow, and the ad reminds me that I have never once painted a metal mini in all my 7 years in the hobby. I bet my local shop has some stock, so I'm gonna remedy that today.
Yes please to colour theory vid. This sort of tip seems more relevant to the majority than developing high end technical skills. Regardless of ability, choice of colour scheme and where to apply it will build great looking groups of mini's for display or gaming imo.💪
These are really useful and practical tips that don't think I've heard before, or at least not in one place. I'm starting my own Infinity force (Nomads), so I can try to apply these right away. Thanks!
That haircut is on point! Looking great! Also I found Infinity about a month ago, because I was looking for cool mechs/warsuits. This is good timing for me.
Another great video, Chris! Still a little confused about the title of this one. I don’t think there were any top secret/proprietary painting tips mentioned that GW wouldn’t want us to know about lol
I always felt that the only stuff that I needed to learn mini painting are the two ones from you where you paint the blood bowl teams, get good results from the first mini I painted and then get better with just improving what I learned from there, so cannot wait to watch it and instant like before hitting the play button. Thanks for what you doing, for me you are the best teacher in youtube.
Great video, and I appreciate the idea to have a uniform shadow colour. I play Salamanders and I've used Nocturne Green as my basecoat for ages, which has had great effects - it's actually quite funny how the 'official' GW way of painting salamanders doesn't call for it and 99% of the community has never even heard of the paint that is actually named for the Salamanders' homeworld.
I love how much knowledge and actually usefull tips you can give in a way that is easy to understand and try to apply. Specifically the full paint process type of videos i really enjoy and take away a lot to try and improve my own painting. Keep that good stuff coming. Thanks for the effort you put in your content! I personally struggle with adding more contrast to my minis. So i will try the unifom basecoat as a shader for the whole mini next time. And then try to actually leave it in the dark areas instead of painting over it again with the mid tone like i tend to do.
I have this same issue too: I go to all the lengths of choosing a specific shade colour and then end up painting over it all and using washes to re-add the depth! For my next project I'm going to make a conscious effort to avoid repeating this!
So love this army idea series and just in time for me to follow on as I've got a army I want to start but always put off thinking it's to daunting with all the metal detail. Seeing your start on your army makes me want to explore a new colour scheme now and get into the new rules again. Thanks again for getting me motivated to try somthing else with my new airbrush.
6:48 repeating colors: that's one of the very first things I've did when I painted my very first miniatures, back in 2018: zombies from zombicide Was batching about 15 miniatures. 5 would get the pants, 5 the jacket, 5 the shirt. Then I'd take another color (brown for example), mix the zombies dans do it again, etc etc At the end, all my zombies are different, wearing different clothes. Some of them are more noticeable (because I wanted to have fun): a KISS- makeup, a creepy joker-like clown, 2 mafiosos in white tuxedos, etc... but the rest of the "classic zombies" are all dressed with different colors, making it, I think, quite realistic And it allowed me to paint my first 1000 minis in less than a month, with a decent result
Great video!!! This is the kind of thinking that I've been turning around for a while. This video gives some golden clues, it's going to be very helpful for me. In addition, I really liked this kind of content such as an artistic and procedural discussion, and less a paint easy/fast a single mini. I think you are in a really positive and unique content creation line.
My only problem with Infinity is how difficult it is to understand what miniatures you need, and actually acquire them. Love the Combined Army! Those triangely markings on the hoods in photoshop looked great.
@nutellanorbert2799 quite possibly. I used to review their products between about 2018-20 and others were definitely getting promo material before that. Angel Giraldez for example. Their marketing team is great at working with their fan base.
Nah all the big paint channels had corvus belli sponsorship lately, surprised they aren't mentioning that the new edition is releasing in October... seems related to that, and they have the animated show they are pushing
Put inifinity in the title! I didn't watch straight away because to many Games videos out there 😂 Great content man ! Cant wait to apply that to my JSA, yu jin , pano and nomads... Did i buy all the second hand models in Europe... None of your business 😅❤❤❤
just started getting interested in this game a week ago! Good Timing! And heard they release the new edition N5 this October! Good time to get in i guess!
I have been taking a look at infinity miniatures and they look like real fun to paint, lots of curves and different surfaces. Also, they are cheaper than GW’s
Would appreciate a colour theory video. Maybe on dealing with metal minis, as it isn't something I have had to deal with all that much in assembling or converting - most have been resin or plastic.
I would love to see you paint more Infinity and maybe some Malifaux as well. You're incredibly talented, and I always learn SO MUCH from your videos. Are you going to be near Atlanta or Nashville in the future, because I'd love a class.
Great tips, I'm (slowly) working on a Tau force and there's some useful ideas here. Now i just need to go back and fix the minis i have already done...
Great video with lots of useful tops! I have one question regarding your tip to use desaturated colors: how do you decide whether to add balck/grey or complementary color to desaturate?
Hm...good question. I would say a good rule of thumb is to consider if you want a dark or a brighter result. So here for example i wanted the cloak dark, so mixing black into the blue was a good way to go. On the element on the back of the cloak that was bright i went with blue mixed with the offwhite. Complementary can give you either or...but typically results in a more midtone grey, unless you mix very dark basecolors. Also keep in mind that there are premixed desaturated colors! Any of the magentas/purples i showed briefly were desaturated with white. Or my color for the armor already starts out a desaturated green. Hope that helps and enjoy pushing that pigment!
I'm struggling thinking about how to paint my Farsight Tau army on forest bases. I bought dark camo green primer from Pro Acryl since I was thinking of doing green for the model as a base, but I dunno if that makes sense to layer red over it. And their fatigues I was planning on an olive drab or field gray kinda color, where ironically I think a dark reddish brown would look better as a shadow, but I thought green initially because forest, and because it's a complimentary color for red...I dunno, I've kinda overcomplicated the whole thing and as such I haven't done any priming at all yet.

9:29 always up for some color theory!

They’re beautiful minis and an awesome game!
Really happy to see you cover Infinity, I hope to see you painting more from the range!
For some reason Combined Army seems like perfect army for you. No idea why.
And yeah, CB is throwing dollars like crazy and I can't complain!

I hope that infinity gains enough popularity for you to be able to paint these awesome models regularly on the channel.
You and me both, bud.
More infinity please!!!
Agreed
I learned something new 👍 I really like the cloaking effect!
Would love to see a "All the colour theory" video from you, Trov! Great vid here - many thanks!
Oh, it's so nice to see somebody who's not just being paid by CB but also knows the game! Thank you so much!
That haircut is on point! Looking great!

From all the hype I just bought my first action pack. Gonna paint aleph so exited to use your tips.
Shasvastiiiii, yes! Love the idea that the Shrouded already blends in with its surroundings.
That camouflage effect with the base is awesome.
Great video. We love Infinity
Another great video, Chris! Still a little confused about the title of this one. I don’t think there were any top secret/proprietary painting tips mentioned that GW wouldn’t want us to know about lol
As I'm building lots of rat boys for my first Skaven army, I found these tips super useful. Thank you

That combined army looks fantastic and these are excellent tips for unifying a force!

This is beautiful. Fun to see amazing artists paint my favorite mini line. Inspires me to do better.
Awesome ! I needed the advice about off white and off black in order not to add a new color and going clown fair. Thanks a lot !!
Beautiful color scheme
Genuinely useful video and I love some Infinity
Excellent video Chris!
Nice Tips

I love you call him Dr Worm too.
Especially as he’s not a real doctor but he is a real worm, an actual worm.
