I love your car. I used to have a 65 Mustang, but I got in a accident and didn't have the means nor the skills to repair the car. If I was able to purchase another car and if it was available in a decent shape, my dream car would be a 68 Ford Torino Cobra jet with a 428 CJ engine. That's why I love your car. Keep up the great work.
I am going to swap a t5 in my 69 torino convertible. I emailed MDL about a cable they didn't have any workable kit. Currently have a AOD starting to slip in 4th too many times rebuilt. Did the math t5 is the way to go.
I am in the process of putting a TKO600 in my 68 GT from American power train with a hydraulic clutch. Originally a floor shift C4. What modifications did you do to the crossmember and what headers are you running? Thanks BTW, I love your car and videos!!
I didn’t have to do anything for the crossmember that was in there with the 4 speed. Bolted right in. Headers are Hedman Headers 1 5/8” full length. With the TKO you will need to cut open the trans tunnel a bit to make it fit.
The factory crossmember is slotted. Yours has been cut. Check out a picture of one and you will see what I mean. The way yours is cut on the ends makes me wonder how it has held up to jamming gears at 6500 …
I've watched your other videos where you race the car. Really impressive times considering the engine and weight of the car. But I'm really curious: why a T5 instead of a toploader or a super T10? Wouldn't that be stronger?
Its from Modern Driveline but last I heard they no longer make it. It wasnt correct. MD-6871T-CC is on the box th-cam.com/video/ipEA2WM2iX4/w-d-xo.html
Great car man! I have a 1968 ford Fairlane 500 fastback and I’m wanting to install a T5 in it as well, I was wondering what’s the length on the driveshaft you need for these cars with the T5?
No way lol. He's the man. A lot of Torino guys ask about putting a T5 in and since I was doing the clutch I figured why not do a quick video since there are no Torino videos on TH-cam.

MDL discontinued the cable kit they sold me . It isn’t great anyways. Their hydraulic kit looks like the way to go.
Did you get the t5 in yet?
A REAL MUSCLE CAR!
T5’s ROCK!!!
till they dont......... :9
Nice work. No issues with headers??
No issues at all. They were in there with the 4 speed and z-bar when I bought the car. Headman 1 5/8”.

@@mikeymac9 I noticed in the video your crossmember is cut up. Was it like that with the 4 speed?
@@kennyleejohnson5253 The 2 bolt holes are slotted. Other than that it’s a stock piece.

Cool Car
I've watched your other videos where you race the car. Really impressive times considering the engine and weight of the car. But I'm really curious: why a T5 instead of a toploader or a super T10? Wouldn't that be stronger?
Overdrive. I drive it everywhere with 4.30’s. This is a GForce gear set too so it’s stronger than a stock T5.
Awesome video mike, have the same car. Do you have a part number for the RPM you inserted on the dash? Looks super clean.
Thanks. I don’t have the PN but I’m pretty sure it’s just the standard Autometer and it slips right into the pod.
Do you have a wideband in the car? The spacer may not be worse, the air was so good it may have went lean.
I realize you said you changed from 4.10 to 4.30 rear.
What RPM at 65 mph with 4.10 : 1 rear gear?
Right around 2000. This gear set has a .59 5th.
Is that the Powergrip 550HP or Powergrip HD 650HP clutch? Thanks
It’s Ram 98794 HDT. Says 650 in Rams description. Honestly too much clutch for what I’m doing.
What’s the part number on the clutch cable you’re using now?

@@mikeymac9 ok thanks.
Good video Mike!
Thanks Joe!

I had a custom aluminum one made. I swapped the 8 inch out for a 9 inch and the 4 speed for the 5 speed so just measured and had one made.
@@mikeymac9 ok, gotcha, cool, thanks man.
Starting to compete with the 5.0 tussin Channel I see lol.

@@mikeymac9 lol ya he is but the video was good man. Got me excited for race season again lol
So how has it affected your gas mileage? Before and after?
I’ve never checked mileage honestly. Just wanted over drive for the highway with 4.30’s and a 26” tire. The .59 5th gear is is great.
No scatter shield ?? Not good
