I just got a Studio and was very disappointed to find out that the workflow with Logic (my current DAW but I never liked it) is really, really bad. I got a free download of Live Lite with my Novation Launchkey and, despite Lite's limitations, I cannot wait to use it with your script. That's because there's no such feature in Ableton. You can sort of mimic it by adding a Velocity MIDI Effect but it's per track, not global - and there would be no easy way to toggle it from the controller.

Just got an MPC Studio knowing it only played nicely with akai software out of the box, so this finding this out is an extremely welcomed added bonus! Did want to follow up on a question that someone did have earlier. Was wondering if it would be at all possible to easily swap between MPC mode and Ableton control mode. I know that other devices (even the humble mpk mini) have options to swap between programs. Obviously this was not an intended function for this device, but maybe there's a way to force it? Regardless, fantastic work and such a great contribution to the community! Cheers!
First off thank you for doing the work and making this work for all of us who bought without knowing the studio didnt working with ableton out of the box. Has anyone else found an issue with Pad 4 & 16 (d#). Mine wont trigger the note and sometimes will trigger but freeze and sustain the note for a long time. Anyone with a fix with this would be greatly appreciated

I wanted to be able to do this kind of thing with NI Traktor Pro 3 so can use it as an additional controller to my mixer, but can't even figure out why the software is not even picking up a midi signal from it, don't know what I'm missing. if can figure this out it would be super fun to build a midi-map for this with Traktor p3. really cool project and can totally appreciate how much work you have put into this.

I had to manually create the folder so maybe that's the issue? I'm working on a Mac running Sonoma 14.1 if that helps. any guidance is much appreciated.

Hi, I have the Studio Mk2 and an MPD 218, I had clip launching set to the MPD, add your script and the Studio work as you meant it but then the MPD wasn't and when I did get it to work one but midi setting was assigned to two MPD pads and couldn't unlink in DAW. Then reset MPD Midis and now Studio is stuck on session mode and other pad banks play random, yet consistent based on which pressed, clips. Any suggestions?
Just noticed, works as intended in new sets, just not the one I was working on..? Seems like MPD 218 and MPC Studio 2 just don't play nice over midi mapping... One keeps overriding the other, even if one is mapped as 1/ and the other 10/ by Abletons default, when using pads or knobs as on MPD , former, and Studio, later, manually as input to mapping.
Add old project to Places in Ableton.Started new set and copied clips over. no Midi mapping but Studio is as intended by script again.?! Must be hardware issue.
Sadly, after months of use, just randomly stopped working for me. Tried reinstalling and no results. Sad. Really liked the functionality it gave me, in conjunction with my other controllers.
mine never worked. i think this is bc ableton update preference for remote scripts to python 3 and the script is python 2? do you know which python version the script is using? or do you manage to re do it?
this did not work for me; 1st there was no such folder as "Remote Script" inside my "User Library", so I created one, downloaded the zip from GETHUB and extracted that file then put it inside of "User Library". no good. I'll just continue to work in MPC then export out the stems into ABLETON LIVE. I am also new to this; still learning MPC. the tutorial was awesome.

Hey I have been working on a script for MPC Studio Albeit for FL Studio. Although I haven't gotten the screen working on my end I had a head start on the buttons as you can use a lot same code that already exists for the Akai Fire. There is a python Script for the Akai Fire for FL studio. I imagine with the proper modifications to the script we can get it working with the Studio as well. Let me know if you think this avenue is worth exploring
Is there anyway to develop the script, so that you can bounce between the native Akai programmed functionality of the controller, and your script, while using MPC software as a plugin, inside Ableton as the host DAW? - Loading MPC as a plugin overrides your script completely, negating your Ableton script functions, even when MPC isn't the active armed channel. Only way to get functionality back, is to remove MPC as a plugin, and then go into settings and turn off and on, the controller in Midi options.
I unfortunately do not have a /brand folder and ableton sits under my documents for some odd reason. I added a remote scripts folder as well as the pertaining zip to no avail. wont show up in ableton under midi preferences at all.

@@MrHermanRinger I did all that from the beginning and still no luck. Unsure if the overall install directory is the issue to begin with at this point.
Thanks for sharing your work. i installed the remote script exactly as you shared and unfortunately it does not work. It all looks exactly like on github however the mpc studio mk2 does not appear in my preferences. i did a lil research and did not find a clear answer for the problem. could it be that your remote script is based on python 2 and not python 3? (ableton switched in v11 on Python 3) does anyone have a similar problem and now a solution? any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Great stuff. SO do all the functions work in the script in Live11?| - transport controls full control? (jump fwd/backward buttons?!) - undo/redo function? - quantize function? - would be nice if the jog dial was responding for instance when moving markers in simpler. Let me know!

The_in the name of the folder is the important to get it to work in Ableton.

You create a new folder titled Remote Script In the user library, then open ableton preferences.

@@SCP13 after some f-ing around i found out that the ''full level'' and the ''copy'' button are ones for switching between pad banks

I unfortunately do not have a /brand folder and ableton sits under my documents for some odd reason. I added a remote scripts folder as well as the pertaining zip to no avail. wont show up in ableton under midi preferences at all.
I have ableton live 9 suite
@@cheekymantortoise6009 make sure you put the script inside a folder named "MPC_Studio_Mk2". It wasn't working and then I realised I just dropped the files in Remote Scripts but not inside the folder named MPC_Studio_Mk2. 🤦♂
@@MrHermanRinger I did all that from the beginning and still no luck. Unsure if the overall install directory is the issue to begin with at this point.

Thanks for sharing your work. i installed the remote script exactly as you shared and unfortunately it does not work. It all looks exactly like on github however the mpc studio mk2 does not appear in my preferences. i did a lil research and did not find a clear answer for the problem. could it be that your remote script is based on python 2 and not python 3? (ableton switched in v11 on Python 3) does anyone have a similar problem and now a solution? any feedback is greatly appreciated.

@@rockarockarockarocka I'll have to look where I put the folder. At first it didn't work because of how I named the folder. Needs to be underscored in the name_.

Ok, I figured it out. Very clever. I juat copied the script and it seems to be working, after I read the full installation instructions.

Great stuff. SO do all the functions work in the script in Live11?|
- transport controls full control? (jump fwd/backward buttons?!)
- undo/redo function?
- quantize function?
- would be nice if the jog dial was responding for instance when moving markers in simpler.
