@@HomeGrownHerbalist I had no idea you had books! I recently found your channel, from another channel I watch! You are a treat to watch and learn from! Question, why do you think honey is bad for tiny ones when it’s the perfect food??? Something doesn’t sit right with me on the botulism thing... Has anyone looked deeper into it? Seen the reports? Studies? Just curious about your thoughts? Love and light to you and your family with many blessings! You have a beautiful granddaughter! ❤️🙏🌞✨🤗❤️
Although I use cinnamon and fresh ginger, my family does not care for the clove. So, once the mixture has cooled, I add freshly squeezed organic lemon juice and the honey.
I didn’t think it was going to work but it seems it does :) I got the elderberries from your store and followed your recipe. I was fighting a cold for 3 weeks. The elderberry syrup worked for me. I made a batch for my family and I will see how it works for them. I’m very thankful for what you do.
Greetings from wisconsin! I've just discovered your channel and I'm so glad you're doing what your doing to educate everyone on the value of plants. I grow my own elderberries and the syrup I make saved us thru covid. My question is what about elderberry syrup for dogs? Can this be something of value for them. Thanks Doc.
there's so much discussion about the cyanide in elderberries, especially the leaves. Is that an old wives tale ? I understand cyanide is heat sensitive, but not sure at what temp or for how long to kill the cyanide? I'm using freeze dried elderberries so they don't need to be cooked to soften them. Any ideas for cyanide safety and best cook times for freeze dried elderberries? Thanks for your awesome presentation
Lots of fruits we like contain a little cyanide. The levels in elder aren't too much of a concern. I use the flower, leaf and berry. The berry is safe enough that I don't worry about it. The flower is even safer but i only use that on tiny kids. The leaf is a little stronger so I only give it to adults. I've never seen more than a bellyache in decades of use with countless clients. Do you use tinctures in your herbal remedies? If so, what alcohol do you recommend? I’ve tried vodka and whiskey but I can’t stand the smell or taste. Plus even pouring boiling water into the tincture so the alcohol burns off before drinking it does not entirely make ALL the alcohol go away! I feel very tipsy after.
cute, the funny, smart doc with a sweet assistant. Next year I will have plenty of berries (if I protect them from the birds :) ) your child cheater -though fitting when it comes to a dough bowl!- is a spatula LOL
Just curious, when you say the leaves are stronger than the berries and the flowers do you mean stronger medicinally or in sense that it can upset a weaker stomach easier? Also about how long would this last in the fridge? Thank you!
The leaf is stronger in both senses, medicinally and in the ability to give you a belly ache. I don't see issues with the leaf in adults (Except the very rare bellyache if someone took too much) but I don't use it on little people. Berry and flower are fine for kids.
Thank you Doc Jones! I love your wisdom, and your humor. Your granddaughter is a very blessed girl! I have learned a lot from you, and your book. :)

It really does work. I give it to my grandkids, even when they’re not sick and when other kids around them are sick they don’t get sick.
Thanks for the tutorial- your adorable helper did a great job!

There’s only one problem with this syrup, it’s so delicious. I give this to all of my grands.
❤️❤️❤️. I got my kit a couple months ago and made it right away. Thank you!

What is the shelf life of elderberry syrup when kept in the refrigerator?
I live in the uk and wanted to know about the toxins? How long to cook to remove toxins
Run through trainer without cloth first. Then use a finer small strainer the second time. You lose too much in the cloth.

Hello should I used with a full belly or empty belly before taking
Could this be done with service berries and leaves?

I use vodka for tincture making. If the hooch bothers you, you can do teas or just put the dry herbs in a smoothie or some such.
Can i add echinacea tincture? If so, how much? Thank you
I only have access to elderberry powder, can I use that? and how much do I need
Does any one know how much honey you are supposed to add? Doc Jones forgot that info in the video.
Oooh! Oooh! Pick me I know! 1 cup... :0)

Can you use the ginger, cinnamon, cloves if you are on a bp med that's a diaphoretic?
How long does this last in the fridge?
I planted a black elderberry bush last year, it's doing good,, still too small to make berries but eventually.

If you use fresh berries how much should you use?
If the berries are fresh rather than dried, I'd use about twice as much.
