You'll have to take us along on a sumac foraging video. We have the smooth here and the berry clusters are slightly less 'berry' like and more a fuzz head cone. I don't know what parts I should be keeping and maybe I waited to long to pick, there were alot of little worms in them :P
I split my syrup and in one batch it's just the immune boost and in another I will add Lavender (anti-inflammatory), Marshmallow root (helps with breathing) this one I use if you start to feel bad.
Can you pleeeeeaaassse tell us what cheese press you use and where to get it. Also, your cabinets I love!!! Where did you find the metal cabinets? I love you and your mom. My favorite calming and informative channel!
I only have a couple bushes and the birds LOVE the berries. Also, the berries often ripen at different rates. So for the last 2 years I have made syrup out of the flowers. It has helped me ward off colds more than once.
I have dried and ground ginger, I have an herb garden planned (and maybe even a stone herb spiral) I am adding two raised beds, upscaled the quail (53 hatched last weekend to beef up the flock) and two rabbits for fertilizer and possibly future meat. Thanks for being part of the journey!
Please clarify. In the audio you said you use 1/4 cup of sumac berries. However, the recipe states three quarters cup. And the spices? Are they whole or are they ground? Thank you so very much! I truly enjoyed your videos!
I see that this is a syrup, I ended up making a tincture with apple cider vinegar. It will be ready in two weeks but I was wondering if you know if im able ti add cloves, cinnamon or honey once I extract the berries? I made it this way because of my grand children. Is cooking them better??
Question - What can we do with the leftover elderberry mix after we strain them. Can we use them in tea? Would we store it in the fridge or dehydrate it or just put it in a jar with a cover...or trash? We don't have a compost pile.
My favorite Elderberry syrup that I buy has echinacea and mullein in it . I want to make my own but I'm not sure how much echinacea and mullein to add . If anyone has any thoughts please let me know😊
Im wondering how it would taste with some sea berries made into a syrup? The only other berries i have are black berry, raspberries, honey berries, and currants..
Hi honeystead. Do you make Kiefer. I would like to make the probiotic milk for my gut. But I was told that I could get sick or die from useing raw milk
Two cups of honey is a personal preference I'm guessing, for that amount of tea , correct?! And I think I would also put two cups for that amount of tea and if it's less tea put less honey. How long did you cook it for , 35 min? Meow
I don't, but check out www.frontiercoop.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAlJKuBhAdEiwAnZb7lX-GqVw_BkREFgF0ylmUTrS-7dkF_aT6UtmYNWBJDd5Uyhl3s5vZjhoCBfwQAvD_BwE
How do you keep your syrup from going bad? I followed a recipe that used all honey and one that was 50/50 honey/vodka. the ones with Vodka look fine and taste fine except they are alcoholic a bit. The ones with just straight honey, pop their lids and when I open them, pressure escapes. I smell them and they smell fine and taste fine but keep pressurizing. I don't refrigerate them since I have a case of quart jars that I made. I didn't know how to pressure just the elderberries without freezing them since space is at a premium right now. Is this bad or do I need to add vodka to those that are straight honey?
Hey, great video. I told my friends at homegrown passion that you might be interested in hydroponics, and you can reach out to them at your convenience.
Omg please how do you not put your hair up while in the kitchen, I don't know why that drives me nuts, I always put mine in a bun when making medicines ❤

I’d love a video on you harvesting sumac from your property when it comes time for that!
You'll have to take us along on a sumac foraging video. We have the smooth here and the berry clusters are slightly less 'berry' like and more a fuzz head cone. I don't know what parts I should be keeping and maybe I waited to long to pick, there were alot of little worms in them :P
If you hadn't made a mess I would have thought I was on the wrong channel 😂
I split my syrup and in one batch it's just the immune boost and in another I will add Lavender (anti-inflammatory), Marshmallow root (helps with breathing) this one I use if you start to feel bad.
How much lavender and marshmallow root do you add?
We harvested a bunch of sumac berries for lemonade. I'm totally adding it to my elderberry syrup. Thank you so much for the info❤❤❤
Can you pleeeeeaaassse tell us what cheese press you use and where to get it. Also, your cabinets I love!!! Where did you find the metal cabinets? I love you and your mom. My favorite calming and informative channel!
The fire cider press
We just propagated our elderberry today was a beautiful day so it was perfect day to clean up the elderberry trees 😊

Used to make sumac lemonade. It is a refrigerant. Lowers body temperature in summer. Got seeds to plant on my property.
Oh yes!!! Very delicious 💛
Just decanted my goldenrod tincture! Wow! The herbal course is amazing and very confidence building.
This makes my heart soooo happy!!!

that recipe sounds amazing!! i always just made mine with plain old elderberries. so excited to try a new way!
Ohhh it’s super yummy!
Thanks for the video, I'm picking Elderberries today, peace.
Thank you!
I also use these additional herbs in my syrup, and I love the taste! I think it tastes like gingerbread, with the ginger, cinnamon, and sweetness ☺️🫶🏻
Oh boy 😋 Thank You 💖
I use Astragalus root and then the sweetener I use is Molasses. Amazing flavor.
I have elderberry tincture on the go right now. 🥰
For sure saving this video for later. Thank you for this.
I make my elderberry alot like fire cider... Minus the spiciness (kid house) really love adding nettles for iron support.
Yum!!!
oooo one of my favorite remedies!! i'm overdue to make more, thanks for the reminder! ❤️
Thanks for posting this!
Love making Elderberry syrup! Where did you get your jar labels?
I have a Peterson's Edible plants book. There is a lot of food out there.
🙌🙌🙌
Did you post the Elderberry recipe? I didn't see it? Thank you

This mix sounds delicious, could you use it to make a tea?
How should raw honey be stored to keep it from crystalizing? The elderberry syrup recipe is delicious! Thank you!!
I follow a similar recipe but add 1 star of anise also.
ohhhh I bet!!! I would love to try that and maybe add rosehips!
If im using just straight elderberry would you leave it as 1 cup of elderberry or increase it to make up for the sumac.
My favorite Elderberry syrup that I buy has echinacea and mullein in it . I want to make my own but I'm not sure how much echinacea and mullein to add . If anyone has any thoughts please let me know😊
Hi, thank you for the recipe! Where would this be stored and for how long?
I got it: refrigerate for about 2 to 3 months. Thank you so much!
Do you freeze dry the berries? Can I just dry in net dryer?
Somewhere I heard you could add bourbon to elderberry syrup to make it shelf stable. Do you think that would work?
Im wondering how it would taste with some sea berries made into a syrup? The only other berries i have are black berry, raspberries, honey berries, and currants..
Where do you store it?
Hi honeystead. Do you make Kiefer. I would like to make the probiotic milk for my gut. But I was told that I could get sick or die from useing raw milk
I am wondering how long Ginger honey is shelf stable?
Can you simmer the ingredients a second time for tea, for example?
Two cups of honey is a personal preference I'm guessing, for that amount of tea , correct?! And I think I would also put two cups for that amount of tea and if it's less tea put less honey. How long did you cook it for , 35 min? Meow
How do you dry elderberries withoit the stems being in there?
could you add Mullen for upper repository?
Kaylee, I think I remember reading that anything over 180° degraded the good properties of the elderberry. Have you heard this or is it bad info?
Ty. Do you sell the elderberries? Where do I buy sumac seeds?
I don't, but check out www.frontiercoop.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAlJKuBhAdEiwAnZb7lX-GqVw_BkREFgF0ylmUTrS-7dkF_aT6UtmYNWBJDd5Uyhl3s5vZjhoCBfwQAvD_BwE
I purchase from them when I need to!

You would need to do an alcohol base if you don’t refrigerate. You can always add the tincture to tea to dilute the alcohol flavor
@andreacremeans1055 Perfect. Thank you Andrea for the response. I did that with the first batch. Will retrofit the current batch to alcohol base.
can you can the syrup to make it shelf stable?????
Which elderberry do you grow and use for your recipe?
I grow sambucus nigra!
Do you ever use aronia berries? Are they as beneficial as elderberry?
I haven’t, but would definitely have to read more about them!
Just cinnamon powder and do you recommend the Ceylon?
You will be just fine!
❤
Can I use ground ginger if I don't have the cut and dried root? (I have whole cloves)
Absolutely
maybe just add a little less!
In what form is the ginger and clove?
The ginger is the root and it is cut and dry and the clove is whole and dried.
Thank you so much for your quick reply. I'm going to be making some of this in the morning

Hey, great video. I told my friends at homegrown passion that you might be interested in hydroponics, and you can reach out to them at your convenience.
Ohh awesome! I’ll check them out!
I accidentally let my elderberries slow boil for 30 minutes instead of simmering-did I ruin the medicinal value?
🌹❤😇❤😭🌹
