I use cayenne pepper everyday for my blood thinner, I had 2 heartattacks and could not take the prescription drugs, I use herbs for everything, that's my medicine.

The kids and I made dandelion jelly this past spring and gifted it to neighbors on Easter. When I dug a new garden bed for garlic a few weeks ago, I saved all thr dandelion root. I just dried it instead of roasting it. Saving it to bounce back from whatever creeping crud winter throws our way. It's a real pleasure being a student of the HSBM. Thank you for teaching all of us!
I've got to get back to the course. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I had to take a break but hadn't picked it back up. This makes me SO GLAD (amongst other reasons), that I chose this school. :) No time limit.
When my grandkids were little, they would beg me to make dandelion fritters. They picked the flowers and helped twirl them in the batter and cook them. Good memories.
Thank you! I put cayenne in my coffee every morning. It’s a great pre workout too!!! Gets you sweating! If anyone is thinking about the school it’s amazing and offers so much great information. I’ve made medicine for family and friends. Wonderful!
I started the course much earlier this year and started off really dedicated, but busy life got in the way, so I've not been as dedicated as I'd intended. However, it's nearly winter, so these long chilly nights are looking good for revisiting my studies 🤞🏻😇💖
One of my first memories, when I was about age four, is my mother showing me yarrow and sending me out in the field to find some for her to make tea for my father's bleeding stomach ulcer. We didn't have a road into town so I had a lot of opportunity to eat dandelion blossoms and wild rose petals on my way to school.
Wonderful Channel It is so Refreshing to listen to someone passionate about Herbs and Animals ❤ I love Animals and get really crushed when they are hurt😢 Veterinarian and Medical fields have become Rackets sad really sad
I use the more bitter dandelion leaves (leftover later in the season) chopped up in chillie con carne or curries as it the spice hides the bitterness somewhat.
I immediately thought of you saying 'if I could only have 5 herbs ..'😊I need herb help!! I killed my comfrey, some Oregon grapes, currant, salal, fern.... I'm in SW Oregon. Heavens.
You killed comfrey? Wow! I thought that was impossible! I planted comfrey years ago and haven't touched it, besides cutting leaves, no watering it or fertilizing and it grows like crazy! Maybe you're offering too much 'help' to your plants? Seriously though, plant a piece of comfrey root outside and just let it be for a year, you'll never be able to get rid of it.
@TheWidypierre ive heard that about mint. But I've killed both mint and comfrey i tried promoting after separating. It didn't grow well in planters but in and elevated raised bed it's massive. Happens with mint, some place I grow it, it explodes, other places seems it struggles to survive. I think you can kill just about any useful plant. I know when I was told mint was hard to kill, I thought I had q black thumb for growing, and didn't get into growing anything until a few years later. At the time I had tried the pot mint u buy in produce section, that's what I also killed. It was very discouraging when my friend is like you killed mint, you literally toss on ground and it grows everywhere.
, I truly believe comfrey has amazing capabilities yet you can’t put it on an open wound that possibly may be infected because it will not draw out the infection. It will seal it in. I learnt this the hard way, this past summer my toe was amputated by my horse and I was bare foot so lots of bad bacteria and I wanted it to heal faster but I only got a setback because there was an unseen infection in the toe, so they had to do surgery remove a joint & open it up. Allow the infection to drain. I had to discontinue the comfrey until after the infection has subsided, and there was no openings.
I have harvested and dried many of the things mentioned in this video and am planning to make both tinctures and salves. Can I combine yarrow, plantain, comfrey, calendula, cayenne etc. and have one "treat all" salve or tincture?
Thank you Doc Jones. I'm learning alot and hope to use many or at least some ( I'm hoping to replace medicines) but need to check with my doctor first like you recommended. So thank you very very much 😊
💪🌱 Thank you. Old man's beard grows heavy in a certain forest that I love in Leeds Maine. I've learned alot about it's usefulness. It tastes like a mildly peppered pine forest.☺️🌲
Greetings Doc, I’ve only been aware of your teachings for a few months, I’ve been binge watching a lot of older stuff, among them was one on dandelion, a few years ago. In it you mentioned “chase tree berry” as an aside in talking about inhibiting unstable hormones as it related to acne due to male hormones effecting hair growth and that girls might profit by it as it had progesterone; got me wondering if that might help to reduce facial hair growth in menopausal women as their hormones are going nuts too! What’s your take on that. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge and incites with us plebes! Blessings
Hi 👋 so thankful for all you do. I have learned so much from your school! I will go back when I’ll finished and start it all over again! So glad I found THE HOMEGROWN HERBALIST! ❤❤❤
Hello. I make a comfrey and white willow bark infused Castor oil daily for pain caused from severe kyphoscoliosis so the pain is real and this trio of ingredients works wonders for all mentioned like broken bones and other injuries or healing remedies. I add peppermint and Clove essential oil as well
Woke up with an old fashioned cold this morning and I just listened to this very informative video. I just don’t know where to start. I don’t take pharmaceuticals.
Hi Doc Jones, I’m wondering if you could explain deep puncture wounds and comfrey. I listened to your comfrey video and loved it. You advised not to use comfrey on deep wounds but also talked about it healing wounds. Sorry I’m a little confused about that.
I’m learning all about herbs to use as preventative and to treat current issues . What herbs would you recommend to take daily as preventative and what herbs is great for treating angiokeritomas which can be taken internally and externally
Doc, I had to replay this part a couple of times. @7:40 you state that "..echinacea suppresses hyaluronic acid which is important at rebuilding tissue.." Don't you mean to say the echinacea suppresses the venom that destroys the hyaluronic acid? Please school me. Thanks!
Very informative! When i have some extra funds i really want to join your school. Are herbs helpful for hair growth? That was something i was wondering and struggling with.
Having lost all my hair twice, once due to grief and once to Covid I can say yes there are definitely some will help What a huge help is getting rid of commercial shampoos, figuring out your hair type and using a very mild soap or detergent plus the oils you need for your hair I highly suggest mango butter and castor oil being in the top five or so ingredients Things like Comfrey and plantain as well as Rosemary and basil all make good washes to use on your hair for a final rinse and leave A small amount of vinegar in your water once or twice a month to help get out the excess junk is also helpful

The best kept secret of gardeners is that they kill more plants than they grow 😅 You just need to keep planting and growing ❤❤❤❤❤
You killed comfrey? Wow! I thought that was impossible!

You can’t kill comfrey. It’s impossible 😅. I love that plant. You can feed your chickens and in the garden
