i bought a 2 year old etron in uk cheaper than a model 3 sr plus, nicer ride, quiet, suspension, 4wd, tow capability and amazing charging, now tesla opening up etron over a Tesla
Love my 5 year old 2019 eTron. It's the most comfortable and reliable car I've owned. I'd love to see more range, though. My dash bubbling was covered under warranty in May 2024. It was so slight that I didn't even notice until I saw the recall.
Great video. I just bought a 2019 prestige for 35k. It has 29k miles and it was still under factory warranty. So far I’ve had them replace the dash which was covered and they replaced the headliner and all the seals and gaskets on the sunroof. My dealership is awesome. They give me a loaner every time. I love the car and so far I have done few upgrades. I put on q8 volsella 22 inch wheels and I blacked out all the chrome. Painted the callipers orange. Put on the roof rack too. Love the car
@@chrisconover no I didn’t use true car. I found it on Autotrader. Warranty came with the car. It is factory warranty. I did buy another 4 year 50k mile warranty through my credit union it was only 3k. So I took it.
I just done this exact thing in the UK, sold my EV6 GT Line and looked at Q8 e-Tron.... £100k (100,685.00 GBP to be exact) for the spec I wanted which is now called Vorsprung. But hey, parked in the same showroom was a used 2020 e-Tron 55 Launch Edition which is really the Vorsprung spec. It had under 30k iles driven, all factory options, virtual mirrors, double glazing, full ambiant lighting, B&O sound system, real leather light grey interior, brand new refubished wheels, paint correction, ceramic coating, brand new new tires, 5 years remaining on battery warranty including new battery updates for larger range, 3 years extended Audi warrenty for the car, 2 free services all for under £35,000 on the road, the 2020 e-Tron spec sheet and new price were in the gloove box documents book £92,750!!!. I havent been happier with the e-Tron, its ultra fast with 408bph, air suspension is truley amazing, sunroof, nightsign, e-Quattro! charges from 10-100% as quick as the EV6 did. But I do love the new e-tron external look. I had the Q8 e-tron for a 2 day test while my e-Tron was being prepped for sale (cleaned etc) and its the exact same inside ya know :). Thank god I didn't get the Q4! or the iX! trust me, you dont want them, I have test drove them, iX doesnt not get the range quotted, try 70% of what BMW say. Forget Tesla... we returned our company Y as it complete Junk, many many issues so it went
Very helpful, thank you! I'm going through the same thought process! Almost the same way as I got my s4 avant waaaaaaay back. Was at a dealer, sat in a brand new second-half 05 and the car hugged me. They had a low mile first half 05 one (that I still have as my primary car) at basically half off price.
You are a lucky chap. I have looked for a bargain in France and best full option 55 2022 model, March with 15000km is stil €70k . A 2019 launch model with 60000km is still mid €50k! 😢
Thank you so much. I test drove etron 55 advanced the other day, drive was amazing. I can now get it for 40 k thousand dollars in Norway: 2020 model, extended warranty including out 2027, Bang olufsen, grey leather seats. Driven 42 k miles. Just had service. Coming from hybrid xc40, want somethinh bigger, classic timeless design and electric. Is it a good deal? How much should expect to keep as a buffer each year for maintenance just in case? 2K?
Great review Alyssa! We have a Q4 e-tron and like it but the software leaves a little bit left to be desired. Hopefully Audi can step their software game up in the future.
continuing my comment. Cons for the Q8. 1. The MMI is very different from the MMI in the 2019 etron. The Q8 MMI has many other options - you find these by drilling down in the numerous menus. Unfortunately, this includes some new 'features' that i dont like, such as not allowing you to zoom or move the map while driving! It insists you must be totally stopped. 2. The MMI is buggy - i have spent lots of time with Audi support on the telephone, and with the dealer, and i still have problems with the MMI : 1. when I start the car it often tells me to wait while it downloads data. This can take 2 minutes!! 2. Currently the MyAudi app cant connect with car when car turned off. Hopefully, my local dealer will find a way to fix things soon!
Great review, Alyssa and team! Just wanted to share that after you guys bought your 2019 E-tron (Angela, as we know now) I also decided to get the same 2019 Prestige specced one, inspired by your reviews. Great car overall, but yeah, steep depreciation, and mine also had that leather dashboard problem but my dealer in FL did warranty replace it, with no question asked . Now, however, my E-tron is again at the dealership for warranty batery cells replacement, and it's been around a month since they have it. They gave me Q-4 e-tron instead, so can't complain too much, that car is surprisingly better than I expected. Waiting for the all new Audi platfom in 2026, really high hopes for that one!
Thanks for a useful comparison. I largely agree. But, I feel inclined to make a long comment because i own a 2019 etron Premium plus, and just a month ago started a lease on a 2024 Q8 etron. First, the Pros I see for the Q8. 1. Can approximate Tesla one pedal driving much better than the regular etron. On both cars there is a setting to set to "manual' rather than 'automatic' for regen, and then by double tapping the left shifter on each drive the car stays in one pedal mode for the duration of the drive. 2. Sound system - I find the sound system better in the Q8. altho maybe that is just because the 2019 is old and a prior owner damaged the audio system. 3. the longer range, AND slightly better efficiency and slightly faster charging speed. 4. The suspension - while maybe it is a bit tighter than the 2019 one, it has a more fun sportier handling feel. It still is cushier than any of the Teslas i have driven. 5. For me, i was able to get my choice of interior and exterior colors, and the car has that new car smell and feel. 6. You can lease the car and the $7500 tax credit applies. This helps lower the price nicely. I'll put Cons in my next comment.
@@RatchetHCO You are correct. I should have been clearer. With a lease the dealership gets a $7500 credit, and most dealers simply pass that on to the customer. So, it does help reduce the cost of leasing.
I totally get the “I love my car” vibe! I have a ‘21 M3 SR+, and I totally love it. It’s terrific! Bang for the buck, it’s hard to see how it can be beat. Numbers and spec sheets don’t tell the whole story. Besides, I’m intrigued to see how it ages. More than 2.5 years, 38K miles in, it’s aging very well indeed. Buying a car is like choosing an SO. Different wants and needs, different hot buttons, different expectations… It’s all very personal. Get what floats your boat. (Note Kyle’s review of the Micro car: “Objectively, it’s not a good car. But everyone should buy one!”) Nice work by you and Max!
Great job guys. I have a 2019 Edition One. I agree with you Alyssa. The car is more valuable to me than anyone else. I can’t get anything this nice for what I would get for it so I am going to hold out for the Q6 e-Tron. I do a 600 mile road trip from NJ to NC several times a year. And thanks to Out of Spec I’ve mastered the quick stops (barely have enough time to use the rest room!).
My biggest issue with the top spec is that there are things I hate along with the improvements. For me, the biggest draw of the older e tron is the charge curve.
Good review. I have a 2019 Prestige that I’ve now had for a bit over a year, and have driven just under 15k miles. It’s an awesome car. So comfortable, luxurious, and more than sporty enough. I’ve test driven the iX (M50) and prefer my 2019 e-tron by far. It is rock solid, and as Alyssa said, no creaks or rattles anywhere. Just handles bumps so comfortably. It’s range on road trips is far better than its official range - I often get 260+ miles, which is as much as I got in my 2020 Tesla Model Y LR (that officially got 310).
this was sooo helpful. Im looking for my first EV and i am considerin a used E-Tron. I am concerned about walking into higher repairs tho. How many things have you had to repair? dash not included.
I’m considering one of these as well for all the reasons mentioned. Only reason I’m considering a new q8 is the great lease deals available now (you can effectively get about 20k off msrp). Even a used 40k one could depreciate 20k over the next couple years so I don’t think the ownership cost woukd be too different
Great video! You hit so many of the great features. I have to say I also really enjoy the heads up display in my Audi as well as the adjustable suspension. Being able to raise the hight suspension in the snow and also stiffen the ride when you’re feeling more sporty is awesome.
Thanks for the vid and comparison! Very well done (even the dog barking). You guys answered most of my questions at the end (but, sorry to break it to you, you are high on estimated value of your 2019 prestige). My car is a 2005 s4 Avant and I've not been excited about updating to any car .... until now. I'm looking at 2019-2023 prem plus (you say no?), prestige or S and the used market where I'm at in Seattle presently has a price range from 32K to 64K. The higher price ones are two basically new Ss (
Just got a letter from local dealer offering $12500 lease discount off the Q8 Prestige. My Q8 gets about 60 more miles range on the highway vs O-G model.
Yup. Many are offering now $9,000 - $15,000 lease incentives plus another $6,000 - $9,000 dealer discount. New at 82k not great but at $62k new it's hard to beat
Amazing deals you folk can get…. In France a fully equipped prestige Q8 e-tron is more than 120,000€ and a lease over €2000pm !!! A basic model is still over €80,000 and a 2019 model 40-50k €!! And then the Government will be putting an SUV weight tax for all vehicles over 1.6 ton…..so at up to €30 per kg over 1.6 ton a Q8 eTron will cost an extra €33,000 in tax so a total of €153,000 for a prestige 🤣🤣🤣🤣 A crazy country to live in now for motor cars..even EVs.@@ronald4life1

Need to get those Laser Matrix headlights activated. Just had mine done on the Prestige S5, what a difference when these laser lights work as intended,
You might have pointed out that some of the styling changes, especially in the front end including the skirts, contribute to the new car's aerodynamics and therefore efficiency.
Great video guys, I'm looking at a used etron here in Ireland for under €30k euros with 40k miles. I can't believe the value and I need a utility car for bikes, dogs etc and I live close to work. It's a no brainier. Their cheaper than an ID4 and Kia EV6 etc.
I love my 2019 Audi e-tron Prestige. I got a great deal it's my new work vehicle It charges so fast I have plug in on the way home I'm there for 20 minutes and I'm done ready I do 60 miles a day and just waiting for my charger to get installed at home
They are really great used deals. I’ve been thinking of getting one as I love the soft, floaty, isolated ride. But the range is just too low especially when you factor in battery degradation and winter temperatures. I would rather not have to deal with fast charging, if I don’t have to.
Any advice on buying used? I’ve heard some issues with 2019 where coolant leaks into the motor or fast charging fails and I’d love to avoid those. Did you pay for an extended warranty or was it CPO?
In the 90's we always thought the suspension needs to be balanced with the engine power. Otherwise you could get yourself into trouble. With these new electric cars, they're all so incredibly powerful. The suspensions like the Model Y, match the power and speed properly, but it seems like manufacturers are trying to find some kind of suspension balance.
Q8 is the better car if holding for the long term as you don't have worry about the very expensive battery. Etron is a disposable like a cell phone. The battery is around 50k cdn for the GT battery and this one is likely a similar cost. The battery can be easily damaged by a small object or snow and ice which happened to one car which had to be scrapped. Even better is the Q5 or Sq5 with more speed and less fuel consumption than the heavy electric.
I bought my 2019 Prestige late 2019 for 62k out the door with 900 miles it was the car service loaner and two years ago the dealer offer me 65k my wife said no 😩
Question is the preconditioning or navigation route planning better for the 2024 vs 2019. I wonder if something other than the battery and motor have improved. We got the q8 e-tron and wondered if they improved preconditioning or route planning. Were you able to compare or test if it has improved?
Better idea wait until you can snag a used Q8 e-tron. The resale on these things is horrendous and I’m sure they will be a great buy. Do I have the money to buy a new one yes. But one reason why I have money is because I’m not dumb enough to buy a car that’s worth half its original price two years. There is no way I would ever buy one of these new. Maybe if I was a billionaire, then I wouldn’t worry. 😂
I thought the Q8 was a larger SUV before ev. Well anyway. I got in an accident and my gas Cadillac XT5 got totalled. Dont want to be in the car market rn with the interest rates. But I can get a 2019 etron for now @ low 30k, so why not! I made my mind up. Ita a car I need to buy like next week and I miss my BMW X6 anyway! Edit: Im in the SW, so Audi dealerships in Ca, NV, and Az are selling them for the same comp price. Me truly in a middle of the road car market. This is a low key purchase thats better than much else for value. 2019!
The issue with cobalt is not environmental or related to sustainability (well, no more than any of the other materials). The issue is the abuse of human rights of children in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where most of it is mined.
The one big negative to owning a Q8 is resale value. If you purchase a new one expect a 40-50% hit on depreciation if trading in after one year. Ouch!!!
I like the older front end better than the new one. Great video!
Alyssa crushed this video, love the comparison between the two e-trons!

is the new etron less comfy due to more weight with bigger battery or are they the same weight

Also if it was improved for cold weather would you change your mind?
Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Better idea wait until you can snag a used Q8 e-tron. The resale on these things is horrendous and I’m sure they will be a great buy. Do I have the money to buy a new one yes. But one reason why I have money is because I’m not dumb enough to buy a car that’s worth half its original price two years. There is no way I would ever buy one of these new. Maybe if I was a billionaire, then I wouldn’t worry. 😂
used are like 30K. its nuts. they lost so much money.
The resale on these is horrendous.
Seems to me Alyssa likes her car not this new 2024 model. She’s calls it cheap not worth it. All I hear is “mines better “
I believe the dash issue is now a recall.
Did you end up getting it??
get a 2020 Audi unlocked some of the battery capacity, 20 miles extra range, get comfort and sound pack in uk
Mine is a 2019 and the dealer did the extra milage unlock here in the States.
@@fpartidafpartida do you know if there’s a way to verify the extra mileage unlock? Is it a certain software version?
anna should do a comparison of the taycans
😳💀
For your own personal security, you should blur out the license plate number of your car.
you have an in-car dog harness restraint riiiight?
The issue with cobalt is not environmental or related to sustainability (well, no more than any of the other materials). The issue is the abuse of human rights of children in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where most of it is mined.
I asked for this ? Alyssa thanks
i think the audi etron was massively over engineered and a big R and D invest
lol. The Model Y’s quality is a joke compared to this car. 😂.

Is that internalized patriarchy?
You ppl rehash your videos. Not worth watching.
The one big negative to owning a Q8 is resale value. If you purchase a new one expect a 40-50% hit on depreciation if trading in after one year. Ouch!!!
Why I always buy second hand after at 50% has been knocked out
That dog probably cost you about $3k in resale value trashing your dash.
