With every game that brings a great hero, comes a great villain. And nothing is more iconic than Mario and Bowser. Since 1985, these two have fought each other in most of their games for the sake of Princess Peach. With the Mario movie coming in less than a month, we thought we would talk about Bowser and how he could become the best villain that Illumination has created up to date.

I can't even tell that Jack Black is the guy playing bowser, he's good at disguising his voice in the trailers when every other film he's been in he's always used his real voice as far as I've known so I could always tell it was him playing the character.

I don't think he's truly had to before. Bowser has an already known or otherwise surmised general taste of voice. We have that audio in our head. If he didn't try at all, it would be jarring even though his natural voice is already great.

Actually there are a few minor changes
Bowser’s shoulders have green scales, and there is a third tail spike.
Also another similarity that Bowser and Jimmy Crystal have in common is that they are actually taken seriously by the narrative at least as far as we can see from the trailers in Bowser’s case.

The one difference with Bowser and Jimmy Crystal being that Jimmy Crystal has very standard and generic villainy which is why he isn’t Pure Evil meanwhile Bowser straight up is trying to DESTROY the Mushroom Kingdom which sounds pretty nasty.
@@Rediscool9yeah but we still need to be wary, there could still be a redeeming quality for Bowser, and he might be a comic relief character out of all the scenes that we don’t see from him.
@@chadpeterson5698 If there is even a slight redeeming quality for Bowser, it will just make him Near Pure Evil instead. It will be okay if he gets small comedic moments as Laughably Evil Pure Evil villains exist, but if he’s somehow far too comedic (which I hope to god he’s not) then he’ll be Inconsistently Heinous.
I hope we will have a flashback of Bowser when he was baby and why he is an orphan.
Nah, keep the tragic origin story out for now, Illumination must first prove that they are capable of making ruthless villains with little to no redeeming qualities that are actually taken seriously by the narrative first.

I’d argue that Sombra has a lot more pride than Trixie, he knows full well who Grogar was, but didn’t care and outright bragged in his face, and is shown to believe that even Discord is no match for him.
And Chrysalis is a fair bit more wrathful than the rest of her colleagues, especially since she’s the most likely to explode at a moments notice.

Bowser only has one kid, Bowser Jr. The Koopalings are just higher ranked members of his army.
I hope if the movie gets sequels Bowser is given more depth as I hope he’s not one-dimensional.
Whilst I’m very excited, I’m going to keep my expectations low, just so I won’t be extremely disappointed if the story is lacklustre, or overly enthusiastic if it’s absolutely incredible, either way I won’t think that was a waste of my time for not having high expectations

Simple, Bowser is Nintendo’s popular villain as well as one of the most popular villain characters of all time, Illumination and Nintendo putting a lot of effort in this film, and bonus points for Jack Black
Even without his history in the franchise, Bowser would definitely be considered Illumination’s greatest villain just from the teaser alone. I mean, who wouldn’t love a fire breathing spiky shelled villain who has an army and a flying castle with lava who is voiced by Jack Black?

Hey WickedBinge, personally I think that Bowser is a way more interesting character than Mario, Bowser has a cool castle and kingdom, Fire breath, strength like he was able to hold and throw ack a heavy cannonball in Bowser’s Inside Story, and other things. Mario is just an average everyday man and I think villains are sometimes more interesting than goody two shoes.
Also The 1993 Not Mario Movie mistake was going trying to e as far away from being faithful to the source material. There were no power ups, no toads or turtles and the goombas and koopas and king koopa looked nothing like their game counterparts.
I hope that the 2023 Mario movie does well.

I think Bowser (and the Mario Bros. Movie in general) will blow the original Super Mario Bros. out of the water! And yes, I know that generally Movies based on a video game franchise are perceived as awful, I don’t think the Super Mario Bros. Movie needs to worry about failing.

I thought Bowser was going to sound Like Po in and angry and edgy mood, but Jack Black went above and beyond with his voice. He has such a grizzly and booming voice who occasionally sounds like a normal person, but that kind of voice is overshadowed by his menacing tone.

This is the movie that will effectively put Illumination on the map. Aside from the Seuss’s, this is their first real license. Bowser is their most well established villain.

Bowser should have the best parts of illumination villains, he needs to be cunning, intimidating, have loyal troops, and most important, POWER
along with seth as donkey kong(or for a different video game villain example jim carrey as robotnik.) knew i was going to love jack black as bowser as along with the metal themes bowser's rather boisterous and(outside kid icarus's hades and a few others.) has a lot of personality of nintendo's villains compared to more one note ones like ganon and really is showing off how dangerous he can be with his army,making his castle fly as a warship and how he wrecks the penguin castle with his fire breath that seeing him in action against mario will be a sight(even more if giant or even dry bowser's included.) alongside his musical number.
with that despicable me comparison be interesting how bowser jr./the koopalings relationship with him if they show up in a sequel.

I wouldn't call Bowser a dictator, and he definitely cares for his army. He's a power hungry conqueror, but he has shown many times to genuinely care for his troops and was furious when they got in danger (ex: super paper Mario). He even forgave 3 traitors and let them rejoin his army, and while he has shown to disrespect his minions, he clearly cares for them. Though it is possible the movie will change that bit of his character.

@@chadpeterson5698 Eh, he clearly loves Peach.. Other than that yeah he has no redeeming qualities lol. Though while he clearly doesn't care at all about his minions in the movie, they seem to be just as loyal to him in the movie as they are in the game. Kamek for example doesn't seem different at all from his game self. Heck, Bowser's minions sent the Banzai Bill at the mushroom kingdom despite the fact it would have clearly killed THEM as well due to Bowser's continent sized castle being right next to Peach's castle which is what they were targetting, and even after Mario sent the Banzai Bill in the warp pipe, the explosion was still powerful enough to affect them. And the blue shell general basically did a kamikaze for Bowser.

Bowser doesn’t seem bad in the games, he seems like just a king trying to king, he’s just angry at Mario.
In the movie however, he seems like a villain that actually is a villain and not just guy.

In that same Yoshi's island game, he traveled back in time to kidnap children all across the entire planet in order to find the seven star children and rule the universe. He kidnaped CHILDREN for his own selfish goals. If that ain't evil I don't know what is.
Also, in paper jam bros, he enslaved toads and fired a canonball at peach's castle while citizens were still in it. In dream team, when Antasma blows up islands, Bowser says that it's awesome... Like dude, people could have been living in those islands for all we know.
Not to mention all the times Bowser calls himself the bad guy, he wears the tittle of villain like a badge that he is proud of, when he was a baby, Kamek literally needed to tell him that the milk he was drinking was from a evil cow in order for Bowser to drink it, as seen in partners in time. And Bowser in that same game told his younger self to become more evil.
Yeah, Bowser has good qualities, he genuinely loves his minions and he adores his son, but that doesn't make him a good person, evil people CAN still be evil yet have good traits. Bowser constantly invades other kingdoms for his own selfish dreams of conquest and power, and he tries to force a woman who doesn't love him into marrying him. Not to mention in dream team, we've went in Bowser's dream, we've seen what it looked like- Bowser's dream world literally has CHAINS in the sky and has an obvious evil atmosphere. The guy's clearly a bad guy.

I absolutely loved hearing Jack Black play bowser. He did such a good song and I am super glad they gave him a song to sing to really let him showcase his musical talent.
In the new super Mario movie when Luigi gets captured and held in a cage we get introduced to a blue depressing star which any good fan would know they are called Lumas and it seems to point some comedy on that but we will notice there's only one so what if its a teaser that the sequel will have Rosalina in it because she is like their princess/mom so what if that Luma is foreshadowing? Think about it and discuss it!

The reason why Bowser is the best Illumination Villain is because he has back story’s about his childhood when he was trying to date Princess Peach in high school by giving her piranha plant flowers but then suddenly got rejected. Then everyone laughed at him calling him “LOSER!” while he ran off crying. That’s why he was the way he is to get revenge on everyone for laughing at his face. And this is when he wanted to try this again by asking Peach to marry him so he could finally be happy for once or else he would destroy the mushroom kingdom.
That is clearly not canon. That was an abandoned idea.
Besides it wouldn't make sense, Bowser is the king of the KOOPA KINGDOM, Peach is the princess of the MUSHROOM KINGDOM- They're 2 completely different kingdoms, so why on earth would they have went to the same school? Plus none of them would have had the guts to mock Bowser, and if they did he would have beaten the crap out of them rather than ran away crying.
