This doesn't change anything about the video or the points made, but I misspoke in one section: Pariston's vice presidency led to the highest number of Hunter *disappearances,* not deaths.
Would you mind if I asked you how you got to be so eloquent? You have an amazing way with phrasing and I strive to be as skilled as you in weaving words with grace while also telling a story. It's incredible to me how you seem to do it so effortlessly(even if you're going off of a script).
Aleczandxr have u watched jojo bizarre adventure I would love too see jojo vids along with hunter x hunter I'm sure others will too and I feel like it would match ur style that is so good
Pariston is the hunter who works tirelessly to capture his prey and then releases it. He just truly enjoys the Hunt. One of the most important Hunters in the show
That's beautiful and perhaps on a scale, the inverse of his relationship to the chairman in one way. The chairman Netero would hilariously would _allow_ the trolling _at times_ (as I would infer based on both character's sentiments). But both Ging and Netero give Pariston one important thing that no one else has done for him. Someone else who can genuinely enjoy playing games together _with_ Pariston, and Ging definitely does enjoy beating Pariston. They are rivals.
That just shows how much Ging knows about resources and how much he could commit to something that valuable. I think it showed how he cares for those people too. In number he was 2 but to them he was becoming 1 coz he also shows integrity.
I don't remember Pariston's introduction but when I first watched Hunter x Hunter, I remember seeing his almost plastic-looking face, fake smile, and sparkles around his face as he talked and just thought, "yep that's a politician".
Yep. He's the kind of person that politicians think they are when it comes to games of social dominance. But most politicians are not that cunning or subversive. Most political games were plain as day to me when I was a kid because I saw what they were doing was no different than the mind games kids would play with me just to incite my rage and my reactions. If a little kid can see the grand scale playground tactics in a politician's game, then they aren't very clever.
What a crazy out of left field follow up to Meruem. One of a kind villain not just because of his own traits and merits but because of the unique time and way he was used in the series. He's incredibly underrated and I'm happy to see you've made a video on him
To be honest ,Meruem was more like an antagonist than an actual villain;or to be specific is more like a character who happen to be born as chimera ant,who happens to become King etc..
Jimmy Ichigo i think he said he’d like to do more but they don’t get nearly as many views as his naruto vids, but yeah of course it’s up to him to make them and if he doesn’t then we’ll make it
Did Fuushin tornado jutsu defeat Rinnegan Sasuke's Susanoo?! Also do you think Fuushin and Chino are underrated? I'm curious to see how the 5 kage would deal with Fuushin's Tornado since not even Six Paths Rinnegan Sasuke's Susanoo could beat it. Also chino can pretty much one shot anyone who's not an Uchiha or have a tail beast to wake them up out of her genjutsu before she makes then cut themselves and blow them up.
Normal person: I always end up hurting the ones I love most and everybody close to me hates me. :,( Pariston Hill: I always end up hurting the ones I love most and everybody close to me hates me. :D
true their is some type happiness in being the cause behind the person you love every emotion .. like illumi said once even if killua hate me I will continue to exist in his heart forever 😊
It's funny how Parriston and Leorio were the 2 last candidates. Being the complete opposite of eachother. Leorio wears his heart on his sleeve and barely thinks 2 steps ahead. While Parriston has taken everything into consideration, never showing his true intentions. Parriston wants to break people, while Leorio wants to cure them. I think Togashi has already set them up as enemies for the future. Especially as Leorio and Cheadle are spending time together. While Leorio stands no chance right now, hopefully he will get more relevance and development down the line.
Ging I think will also kind of mentor Leorio in the future, I feel, they already have a sort of (rocky) relationship with the punch and stuff. I can see them getting to be frenemies of sorts lol
@@ernestocuengil1366 I don't think that they'll be frenemies. More like Leorio will be pissed at Ging and will likely act as if he hates him (constantly being angry at him about the smallest things) for abandoning Gon as a child, while Ging will not care about this and will continue to do his own thing (if it includes Leorio somehow, he will act as if nothing happened between them before whatever they are doing at the moment). He won't act hostile towards Leorio (well, mostly, sometimes he will probably yell at him for being too annoying) because he sees him for the man that he is. A kind-hearted, friendly man. He will also know that Leorio has a legitimate reason for being upset so he won't push it too far againt him. I can see them developing a bond in the future.
I like the idea, which means now all the 5 main characters have/had the own Nemesis Gon - Pitou Killua - Illumi Kurapica - the 4th Prince Leorio - Pariston Hisoka - Chrollo
One thing i really loved about Pariston is the fact that (as most of the Zodiac members) he is most likely a really skilled Hunter, but he plays his part in the story withoutshowing that.He doesnt need power to shake people`s mind,he doesnt need violence to make himself an objective of hatred,he just achieves all of this by his own mischievous yet remarkable intellect, and seeing that on a shonen is something you dont really expect.Togashi will never cease to amaze, and with those videos, neither do you.Keep up the good work!
I wholeheartedly agree. After watching two or three scenes involving Pariston my friend was shook and told me "fuck that, I don't even wanna know what his Nen ability is"
I love Togashi, but as a writer myself, seeing characters like Pariston Hill and watching your breakdowns show me that I am no match for this writing god. This is depressing, but thrilling because I love HxH and YYH.
@@Aleczandxr Definitely and thanks! Truthfully, I can't even see myself coming close to his level of skill, ever. I'm okay with that though, because Togashi is a whole other level of genius. I'll just do things in my own way.
@@BelartWright I'd love to have a talk on writing and perhaps a beta reading talk off somewhere in the middle. If you'd so give me the time I be much delighted
The amount of characters someone could chose as their favuorite it's so high in HxH, it's insane. It's really hard to chose one over the other, personally.
When a side antagonist which is only in the series for a short amount of time is better than a lot of the main antagonist i have ever seen lol. He could probably be the main villain in a standalone series.
@Cold Violet Meruem still feels like a villain majority of the time he is in the series but that is not to say he changes a lot but how you want interpret his change is very much up to the individual.
Yet another fascinating character in this wonderful series. Someone like Pariston was just perfect for this arc and one of its highlights for me. Serious props to Togashi for not falling into typical shounen trends of vertical progression, instead managing to keep things simple directly after his most ambitious and complex arc (so far!!!). Nicely edited and scored as always Alec, I could hear the FF tracks before I even clicked on the video lmao. Keep it up my guy!
@@willjhonathan5844 I think it's enough of anyone to credit in the description. His only flaw was him not mentioning that credits are in the Description. Other than that, his actions aren't Ill-Boding
@@Александр-р9ч8в i'd say saccho more of a rabbit than anything. But i'd have to agree that Pariston encapsualtes the qualia of a rat perfectly: adaptable, mischevious, alert, outgoing. much like a person born in the year of the rat. However we haven't seen the characteristic disadvantages of timidness, pickiness or querelity because he's so flexibile and can fashion most situations (to an extent) to his liking, accepting whatever the in-between process might arise
@@Александр-р9ч8в That's a myth. Rats are actually very clean creatures when they're not forced by necessity to live in sewers. One of the cleanest pets you could ever own. Very polite (at least mine were XD) and VERY intelligent. So he absolutely reminds me of a rat.
I am so glad that you made a video about Pariston! Like Hisoka, he is a very intriguing character - there is something about their unpredictable and seemingly nonchalant nature (e.g. seeing the world as their playground) that makes them so fun to watch and read. He really made the Election Arc for me. I am looking forward to reading more of him in the Dark Contintent Arc, especially about his relationship to Ging.
Honestly, anyone that remotely likes HxH should watch all your videos. It simply heightens the enjoyment one can get out of this story. Been able to understand the small details one picks up but can't truly understand why they work so well, truly shows how great Togashi is at creating a story and how competent the staff at Madhouse are to be able to adapt it so well.
@@KurapikasChains727 Well said. Was about 2014 when I first saw HxH 2011. Also watched the 1999 version after that. Can't compete with 2011, but it has its merits. Some characters get more detail and even the filler stuff often grasps the original feeling of the canon/manga material. Problem is that since I knwo HxH no other Shonen can please me. The diversity of topics (politics, biology, anthropolohy, psychology, ...), the Nen system, the depth of story and characters, the beautiful strategic fights (especially when Hisoka, Chrollo or Kurapika fights). It has its flaws, but in its best moments it outshines every other Shonen.
@@GaaraSama1983 Truly tbh, I watched Brotherhood expecting the same feeling I got with HxH but its not the same because even though its arguably better, thats because of its consistency and lack of flaws, not nearly enough poetry like HxH. Watching some consistently excellent isnt bad but compared to a show like HxH that peaks and slowly reverts back is poetic in itself and on my opinion much better.
Simple motivations are best. Chrollo wants identity, Meruem doesn't know what he wants but he wants to find out, Hisoka wants to get his nut and Pariston wants to piss everyone off.
@@Aleczandxr Honestly these motiavions are not simple at all. To search for your identity, is something that very few would do since it really takes some intelligence to question who you are in the first place. It's not questions with definite answers beforehand but rather questions you answer by living your life. Same for one's desires. Most people would be satisfied with material wealth or simply a basic close social group/family. It's not often to see people crave for more. Hisoka is certainly primitive but even that is not simple because it really takes effort from an individual point of view to push back socially enforced expectations about your desires. And so is expected about joy and anger in general. Even Pariston who could seem simple in the context of "simply controlling" everything, by giving part of his power away, he risks of not being able to piss others off in the future. Point is that in a society that tries so hard to shape us into social creatures who will coexist primarilly for the sake of society's existence, looking inside yourself is like rediscovering yourself and it truly takes some conscious effort to conceive the idea of such self-examination. Because, the more you discover your more individual side, the further you alienate yourself from society.
I'm not gonna lie, Pariston was one of the few guys whose next move I could see in the Election arc cuz I thought "What would a troll do here?" Heck, Cheadle & Ging basically said, "He's a muthafuckin troll" but it a very wordy manner. He didn't care about rules, didn't want to win, but didn't want to lose because doing either is a game ender and winning the game isn't always "winning the game". There's a certain way to flex your stuff, plus Pariston has that little extra in knowing he'd win and things "All according to keikaku". Some trolls know they can't win and are within more of a salty "crabs in a bucket" mindset, but Pariston toys around knowing for sure he'd get the W so he'll play the fool, gas people up, and go on To Give a Marionette life, let you see he did it, and throw the game, leaving a terrible taste in your mouth. I kinda think of his way in a video game. Let's say Smash: Pariston could feign being trash and just zone you out and jump around the stage, yet let himself "be read", take damage and lose stocks. You put in all the work and he's on his last stock at a high sudden death percentage, and all of a sudden... you can't touch him, he kills you with disrespects, juggles you, knock you off stage and hits you back to the stage, taunts, and then kills himself. You win but you know he let you know that you were his bitch, *he let you win* , and his you with the WasteHisTimeHxH2011 hashtag. Pariston... a dude that not only likes his food with spice, but enjoys his meal more when that spice burns others as he has his fill. Oh, thanks for the video. Greatness 👍
hard agree. wouldn't go as far as to say that i knew he was trying to cause a turn around or complete chaos.. but you could see he was scheming and despite the stakes for everyone, his game was more important.
@@aperson7329 Yeah its kinda funny tho, out of all antagonists Genthru is the most standard one: Just a dickhead who wants power so he fucks people over, so id assume he'd get some love but most people hate because of the lack of poetry and how much he pales compared to literally everyone else lmao. He was straight up just a jackass
Funny you said that bc tompa is definitely older than pariston, and it's funny to assume that these two could have met in the hunter exam at some point when pariston passed as a hunter. I wonder how their meeting was like if that was the case 😂
To me personally, pariston feels like a perfect mix between Kimblee and Hisoka. He like Hisoka can be overwhelmingly sybaritic (totally didn't Google a new word for this), but with Kimblee's ability to hide his sociopathic tendencies. Like a butterfly putting its wings on display, then hiding them from predators who would rip life's fun away.
Also I love how *MANGA SPOILER* When Pariston and Ging leave the Zodiacs, Kurapika and Leorio respectively fill in for them. Leorio takes on the Boar. Like Ging, he's hardly ever on the screen, but makes a gigantic impact when he is. Then, Kurapika being the Rat is EXTREMELY fitting. He's someone willing to sacrifice everything (especially himself, to the extreme) for his goals, similar to Pariston. Kurapika had his clan, lost them, then found new friends (the main cast, the Yorknew mercenaries, some of the people in the succession arc). As Pariston sees his new Netero in Ging, Kurapika sees his new family in the groups. And now Pariston has a contradiction in his gameplan. Hating Ging might force an unhealthy (for his standards) obsession out of him. Kinda like the Kurta eyes do with Kurapika. Togashi does pull parallels with his characters, so the fate of Kurapika might go hand in hand with Paristons.
I dont see them similar in personality for one kurapika cares about people and pariston about the thrill, he isa gambler but both are extremly cunning and adaptive in situations. But thats where their similarieties end. You could say its similar between ging and leorio as both are charismatic and have a strong impact through that and honest, but again leorio uis a better person and actually cares about people while ging lets his child alone in his obsession with making it a hunter game.
@@solitary2 I think what they’re trying to say is that they are similar in being willing to go to great lengths to achieve their respective goals, and also hurt themselves in the process
I believe people have hard times to understand how enjoyable it is to be happy. And the reason is most people on this planet don't even know what makes them happy. Most people are happy with little simple things like family, enough income to support a peaceful life, etc. But there are people on this world who were born with a special type of happinness : disturbing others and make them crumbble. That, is a very real thing, and for some, usually many of them, when they discover what they are and finally accepts themselves, they become what we call "monsters". Thing is, they aren't, at least from their perspective, they are just people like you and I, why do they have to accept to feel sadness looking at happy and chilling people around, and not the other way around ? That's what Pariston is. That's what Isaac Netero is. What Hisoka and Chrollo are. And to some extent, Ging. But that's very much not what Kurapika, Meruem, Leorio, Killua and Gon are. Kurapika cannot achieve what Pariston can, nor Leorio could what Ging can, because the sheer amount of will to get there can be summarized as "not being anymore" : you are not you, you are nothing, because you are not yourself, you try to be what you are not. In order for Leorio to commit some bad things, the end goal MUST be worth it in a way it does more good than bad. Leorio is driven by morale concerns established by society. Despite being a little of a scam himself, he is actually a very generous and simple person with a strong sens of justice. In order for Kurapika to commit some bad things, a violation of strong principles and code towards himself or his affiliates must have occurred. Kurapika is driven by principles and duty. In order for Meruem (before Komugi) to commit some _bad_ things, his ego must have been triggerred, like a spoiled brat who knows nothing about life, which he was. The, with Komugi, he discovered what he really was : someone who values people with great capabilities or willpower, someone who will NEVER get in the way of those who make efforts. He is driven by empathy and love, meaning without losing his memory and keeping going on with that idea of being on top of the world, he would have died out of boredom and sadness without ever having a glimpse of happinness in his entire life. Pariston is a whole different animal. What is good or bad, better or worse, wise or not *is irrelevant.* The question is : _"how do I feel better for the long term, now that I'm bored ?"_ => Manipulate people, make them do weird things and watch them struggle like if it was a TV Show. Once people understand that, they may understand logic or principles or morale have nothing to do with what those decide, and rules are meant to be breached. Want a real life example : Donald Trump, Michael O'Leary... Those are people that don't give a shit about who and how many they hurt as long as they can have a good laugh about, and on top of that, they are smart enough to secure their position especially when they are no longer under the spotlights. People seems to be pleased to criticize them, but none have a tiny fraction of their power and happinness. There are other people like them, but when they are not smart enough to secure their happinness (don't kill yourself in the process by letting a mob of angry people get up to your throat), they become what we call "failures" : people that have been rejected by society long before they could get anywhere in life : psychopaths. Netero is a little special. He does have the narcissic personnality, but, it appears he is half altruist, he do care a little for common interests, or maybe, he matured enough to understand you can't get entertained if everybody is so broken they are not funny to watch anymore. Therefore, from time to time, do real good things and spread fair hopes. By the way, you can't have multiple "trolls" around, one is okay, two is already one too many, more than that, all your time gets devoted to trying to break the other trolls, a tough and daunting task, that's not entertaining (that's also why in real life politicians are innefficient at best, incompetent and a shame at worst : too many trolls with the same personnality with the same will to waste the time and ressources of everyone around) That's also why unlike Cheaddle (and others), Ging and Netero were never around and why Pariston was Netero's 2nd : go play with the Zodiacs while I'm busy with little cheap pranks, and only when politicians has to be tamed, I come back. Ging is also the narcissic type, but unlike Pariston who devotes his entire efforts in crushing others, Ging has a passion : discover new things, thanks to his father. His way of doing things is always tinted with that cursiosity of unveiling new unknowns. The "vagabond" is always covered in dust because he is also an adventurer. That's how he has in his way more than what Pariston could ever provide and appears to be one or two steps ahead of Pariston. To counter that, Pariston has to seek help (manipulation) or throw in some bold random moves to catch Ging off guard. Could Leorio do the same ? No ! Actually, Kurapika is the one that may compete with Pariston, but only if he goes into scarlett mode and cold determination for the rest of his life : use intelligence to compensate for your lack of evilness (but again, you'll never be happy in your life). Similarities and look alikes, there are so many, but what matters is the understanding of what someone is. Once that settled, what appeared to be similarities becomes contradiction. I often read comments about authors making good stories... Togashi is one of them, and hell yeah, he has a good knowledge of person profiling (personnality traits which are immutable, you are born with them but they can be influenced by your life experience). An author that lacks that knowledge cannot define strong characters with a clearwater background and motives. That's the basis of writing sagas : define the challengers first, who they are, what's their story, before anything, never be satisfied with normal boring people with no personnality. If there were no Sasuke, no Danzo and no Orochimaru in Naruto, just Jiraya and Hiruzen... well, that would be another Digimon story. That's why Boruto failed : everybody is either good, bad or irrelevant. Noone has a strong defined motive in life, the bad want to rule the world etc. etc. Boring !
Ha ha ha. This is so unrealistic, I mean, a blond and powerful man trolling his way towards the most powerful political position in the World is just so... oh.
You mean the comedian who got a majority vote in the italian partamentarian election with his partybut reused a coalition stirring up trouble doing so. Beppe grill in the vote 2018 I dont see which else troll it could be. Hmm. And he has black hair. I mean who else could become so infamous or even worldwide known as troll. XDXDXD
Pariston: Ging, I have a question for you; Do you consider me your friend ,right? Ging: of course😑... now I have a question for you; how many people have you trolled? Pariston: yes.
I read someone's comment in a different video saying ,"Parriston might be an empty genius, with no passion in mind but just to watch others burn." This for some reason sounds the best way to describe him.

What about a video on Leorio? He is so underrated, his gold heart and great personality , his reaction to Gon being alive ( because he finally has a friend that survived and that he didn't lost)... I don't know if there is that much to be said but I feel it's important
I did not like Pariston at first, but I have to admit he was such an interesting character and a great addition after the Chimera Arc. His character was so well-written it blows my mind.
I think everyone misunderstands Pariston, especially his relationship to Netero. Pariston was specifically chosen because Netero knew that Pariston would do the opposite of what Netero wanted. This accomplished two things. First, it gave Netero a challenge, something that Netero was obsessed with. Second, it actually makes the association stronger because its subjected to conflict to overcome. This is (in my opinion) why Ging was 100% serious and 100% right when he said that Pariston was the only one still carrying out the will of Netero. Sure, Pariston might be doing the opposite of what Netero wanted (and he is), but Netero *wanted* Pariston to do the opposite, and I actually think Pariston knew this as well. In a sense, while I think you're right that the first purpose of Pariston's trolling during the election is to mark his territory and demonstrate his superiority, but it is also about his last final game with Netero--one that he can't win and one that he can only delay. Pariston didn't want to lose the election, but he didn't want to win either. When Pariston won he finally lost, because Pariston's goal was to never allow the election to complete in the first place, pure and simple, an impossible goal that was his way of saying good bye to Netero.
This makes much more sense and adds to the selfish yet good nature of netero that parallels with gon. I haven't caught up with the manga but pariston comes off as a very indecisive person. Seemingly bored as he is always trying to get the most interesting/entertaining outcome yet irritated by ging when he shows he can keep up with him. There's also his weird glorification of self isolation through his love of making people hate him. I can either see him becoming a threat close to the likes of gyro or being revealed to be much more sympathetic than we thought.
This video convinced me to rewatch the election arc. When I first watched it, I didn't like it but after looking at it from a new perspective I realised just how fricking amazing it is.
i can’t be the only one who kinda likes his character. he is here for the thrill and truly doesn’t care about results, he just wants to troll people. even though it doesn’t seems like that, and he jokes a lot, he is smart and other than ging, he is one step ahead of the rest of the zodiacs. in the manga he tells ging that he loves when people hates him, that it makes them happy, and then that it makes him happy to hurt those people. he is a terrifying character when you think about it, and going seriously against him would probably be insane
They see him Trollin' They hatin' Patrolling and tryin' to catch him Trollin' dirty Tryin' to catch him Trollin' dirty Tryin' to catch him Trollin' dirty Tryin' to catch him Trollin' dirty Tryin' to catch him Trollin' dirty
I stumbled on your channel by luck Your analysis and opinion of Pariston Hill is beyond remarkable and it highlights your attention to detail, the unimaginable amount of effort in describing him & the insights in your on thought process. All I can say is SENSATIONAL WORK
My favorite part of Pariston, and specifically his relationship with Ging and Netero. They all have this playfulness about them. That whether we see them as good or evil, they all have on thing in common and that is they enjoy the Game of life. They are gamers in the truest sense
People usually and totally misunderstand Pariston character existence and goal. In reality, Pariston, Askeladd (Vinland Saga) and Griffith (Berserk) are the three most original, real, complex and audacious anti-hero/villain characters that I have ever seen in anime/manga (shonen/seinen) and they're in my top list of any media too. And each one at their own way. But Pariston is another proof of how much of a genius Togashi really is
The likes of Pariston & Hisoka make this series even more interesting, can't wait for these 2 to interact at some point in the manga hopefully during the Dark Continent arc
I'm so glad you spoke on Pariston, I feel like he's symbolic of the kind of writing I enjoy from Togaki. I don't think it would be possible to have an Election Arc in a shounen unless you know how to not only an intelligent thought process, but implementing that intelligence in a completely non-action oriented scenario and keep it just as exciting and engaging. !SPOILERS! I kinda wish you spoke on their scenes in the introduction to the Boat Arc, where they are pursued by the mercenaries. The whole charade was set up to see Ging's ability, but because he thinks like Pariston he knew to deal with the situation without giving any clues to what his ability might be (plus it showed off his skill of mimicking any punch-type ability he sees). If I recall, that's when Pariston wonders what he would do to someone he hates. Anyway I'm gonna go on a tangent, great video as always.
Yeah, I didn't feel any need to go into those specifics because I thought they were general dynamics of the relationship between the two for which there were numerous enough examples. But yeah, that's one of them for sure. Anyways, glad you enjoyed the video.
Maaaaannn I missed you so much and I'm so happy to see you back in the game. Regarding the video I cannot stop thinking about the fact that I'm just jealous of Paris ton because he is just like Jin, someone of such an intellect that whatever he does people can't stop themselves to be amazed and to look in their directions. At the end of the day, they are both just two incredible geniuses in their organisation and despite others being specialists in their fields, which doesn't always means genius, dangerous cannot rival these two in terms of sheer talents. I just freaking love Pariston and Ging in the same way and I can't wait to see what's the future's gonna bring for us about them. Anyway dude as always you're the best and I just love every thing you do and I wish you the best and especially a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year bro!!! Take good care of yourself!! #WESTAN
There aren't many villains/antagonists I "love to hate". Characters I love like Hisoka and Meruem have qualities that I can genuinely respect, despite the horrible things they've done..... But dear god do I love to hate Pariston. He and Freeza are the epitome of that phrase to me.
Wow your thesis was gold, I didn't realize it at first, but you do actually get the character and how he's a mouth piece for togashi and it's wonderful to know other fans appreciate the subtleties of his character.
The best Hunter x Hunter video creator makes a video on my favorite antagonist of the series. The only think I'm upset with is youtube taking almost a day to let me know this video happened.
One of the reasons i like pariston as a caracter so much it's because he did'nt do all he did because he wanted power or some other generic vilanous reason, he just did'nt want to get bored, that's his hole motivation wich on paper it may sound stupid but honestly makes him a very interesting character because that means that he is capable of metaphoricly shooting hinself in the foot for shits and gigles and that whould not be out of character for him
Pariston is probably one of my favorite characters. Every time hes on the page is exciting, just to see what sort of twisted games he can run around people while keeping up his facade. Its endlessly entertaining, and he's one of the most intriguing characters. If he's this good at mind games imagine what his ability is like 😂 i cant wait to see more of pariston. Dude was so fun to watch i didnt even realize he was a villain until after the arc
I often find it hard to find videos or works of art which rivals my own in quality but this video literally ticks all the boxes. I’ve watched this video at least 35 times. Pariston hill is the best HXH character. You’ve hit gold this time. 10/10
I was expecting a 'Pariston/Sheila' theory from this video. That theory was mad brilliantly done by 'that' theorist. Still, this video is one of a kind!
Christmas has come early! 😍 I’ve been waiting for a video on Pariston, he is one of my favorite characters because he is a legit troll and a true hunter (in regards to getting his “target” to act how he wants it to). Reading about him in the Dark Continent arc has me so hyped for Togashi’s plans with Pariston, Ging and their interactions with one another later on. He is brilliant in his presentation of his characters it’s really something if taken the time to think about the vast cast of Hunter x Hunter. Thank you for another brilliant analysis video!
An absolute masterpiece of a video, as your HxH videos usually are. You've inspired me to rewatch the series and reminded me why it is and always will be the best series I've ever watched.
My favorite thing about Pariston is how he really did get under my skin: the way he would make his seat the most important. Whether it's being late and then dragging his seat to the head of the table or insisting on sitting upon a more oppulant seat than his fellow candidates, it really pushed the idea that he thinks pretty highly of himself. He's also interesting because, honestly, he barely interacts with the protagonists. Leorio does not seem to recognize or care about his games. He's, rightly, more worried about Gon and didn't actually want to get into a pissing contest with Pariston. And Gon just flat out says Pariston should be chairman and leaves, barely giving the elections a thought in wake of worrying over Kite and meeting his father. Their personal lives barely touch Pariston.
By definition he was an antagonist for the election arc. He isn’t a typical antagonist, he’s still a hunter (the “good guys”, even tho Togashi deconstructs this stereotype) and shows affection for Netero and his ideals. However, an antagonist by definition is a character who “creates change” of which the protagonists have to overcome. And by this definition, Pariston is definitely a (minor) antagonist
Every time I see Pariston, a smile is put on my face. He is an admirable hunter and his rivalry with Ging is amazing. I can't wait to see them working "together" in the Dark Continent
This doesn't change anything about the video or the points made, but I misspoke in one section: Pariston's vice presidency led to the highest number of Hunter *disappearances,* not deaths.

Pariston hates Ging because he can't troll him
That's beautiful and perhaps on a scale, the inverse of his relationship to the chairman in one way.

Yep. He's the kind of person that politicians think they are when it comes to games of social dominance. But most politicians are not that cunning or subversive. Most political games were plain as day to me when I was a kid because I saw what they were doing was no different than the mind games kids would play with me just to incite my rage and my reactions.
Seeing how Cheadle IS grooming him for the position of a zodiac, I'd say that what you wrote down here makes perfect sense. I hope it happens as well.
Ging I think will also kind of mentor Leorio in the future, I feel, they already have a sort of (rocky) relationship with the punch and stuff. I can see them getting to be frenemies of sorts lol
@@ernestocuengil1366 I don't think that they'll be frenemies. He won't act hostile towards Leorio (well, mostly, sometimes he will probably yell at him for being too annoying) because he sees him for the man that he is. A kind-hearted, friendly man. He will also know that Leorio has a legitimate reason for being upset so he won't push it too far againt him.

Thank you so much ^_^
@@KurapikasChains727 Well said.
@@bladenleague2668 Damn... Kind of sums up my feelings
Reasons are best when they're simple. Truly ToGODshi's greatest characters are the simplest in terms of motivations. Praise be to his name
Simple motivations are best. Chrollo wants identity, Meruem doesn't know what he wants but he wants to find out, Hisoka wants to get his nut and Pariston wants to piss everyone off.
@@Aleczandxr "Hisoka want to get his nut" LMFAO
Worst part is no lies were told
Motivation's overrated :D
@@Aleczandxr Genthru has the worse motivation then: He just wanted Gon to give up. lol

He's not as extreme as Hisoka but regardless, I like this comparison!
Now that's poetic

Same feeling here really.
11:02 I find that so sad, you could tell he wasn’t bullshiting like he always does he genuinely meant that from the bottom of his heart.
The title explain the main reason he's one of my favorite he's just a massive troll
Also I love how
*MANGA SPOILER*
When Pariston and Ging leave the Zodiacs, Kurapika and Leorio respectively fill in for them.
Pariston and Kurapika aren’t similar at all
@@solitary2 I think what they’re trying to say is that they are similar in being willing to go to great lengths to achieve their respective goals, and also hurt themselves in the process
By the way, you can't have multiple "trolls" around, one is okay, two is already one too many, more than that, all your time gets devoted to trying to break the other trolls, a tough and daunting task, that's not entertaining (that's also why in real life politicians are innefficient at best, incompetent and a shame at worst : too many trolls with the same personnality with the same will to waste the time and ressources of everyone around)
That's also why unlike Cheaddle (and others), Ging and Netero were never around and why Pariston was Netero's 2nd : go play with the Zodiacs while I'm busy with little cheap pranks, and only when politicians has to be tamed, I come back.
Noone has a strong defined motive in life, the bad want to rule the world etc. etc. Boring !

Damn, i like the way you think.
I'm just waiting for Pariston and Ging to smash tbh
Togashi truly knows how to make some of the most intriguing characters with simple motivations and adds nuance to it
I never understood Pariston’s motivations so I’m glad you uncovered them. This video has me hyped for the future of HxH
Awesome, happy to hear that I could help a little bit.
Hisoka, Illumi, Pariston Hill and Shaiapouf are my favorite Hunter x Hunter baddies ❤️😍👌👍
Harley Howl Mine’s would be Hisoka, Pitou and Meruem in that order.
are u guys tripping what about my man the legend the one netero feared and respect the hunter crusher tonpa
Add Chorollo and my psycho/socio baddies list is complete😍..as for the hotties i add Feitan and Kirua❤
Omg, I love both Hisoka and Shaiapouf so much! Glad to see someone not hate on Pouf since he's props the most well written character in the series.
STOPH me! *one of. Determining who’s the best written character would be the longest debate ever.
I did not like Pariston at first, but I have to admit he was such an interesting character and a great addition after the Chimera Arc. His character was so well-written it blows my mind.
I wonder what pariston has in store for ging in the dark continent
I think he'll try releasing the calamities into the outside world
I wonder what Ging has in store for Pariston...

Props for playing Kefka's theme in the background. Excellent choice for Pariston's character.
It's crazy how many great, well written characters one series can have. Togashi is a genius writer. I aspire to be like him.
i can’t be the only one who kinda likes his character. he is here for the thrill and truly doesn’t care about results, he just wants to troll people. even though it doesn’t seems like that, and he jokes a lot, he is smart and other than ging, he is one step ahead of the rest of the zodiacs.
in the manga he tells ging that he loves when people hates him, that it makes them happy, and then that it makes him happy to hurt those people. he is a terrifying character when you think about it, and going seriously against him would probably be insane

Your videos are really deepening my understanding of analytical essays for my AP English class. Thank you so much bro for making me feel smarter 🙏🏻
Glad you enjoyed mate.
I stumbled on your channel by luck
Your analysis and opinion of Pariston Hill is beyond remarkable and it highlights your attention to detail, the unimaginable amount of effort in describing him & the insights in your on thought process.
All I can say is SENSATIONAL WORK
Thank you very much!
But Pariston is another proof of how much of a genius Togashi really is
Pariston is very similar to Shakespeare’s Iago
The likes of Pariston & Hisoka make this series even more interesting, can't wait for these 2 to interact at some point in the manga hopefully during the Dark Continent arc
People like Pariston in fiction = peak.
People like Pariston in reality = need to go outside
That Final Fantasy music elevated this analysis to a whole new level!!!!! Brilliant video!!!! Such an underrated character 😊😊😊
Thank you!

#WESTAN
All the best wishes for the holidays, my man! Thanks as always!
Watching these videos makes me feel more aware of myself and those around me in a strange way.
Truly your best video title so far, great work! It's nice to see Pariston being discussed.
Cheers.

There aren't many villains/antagonists I "love to hate". Characters I love like Hisoka and Meruem have qualities that I can genuinely respect, despite the horrible things they've done..... But dear god do I love to hate Pariston. He and Freeza are the epitome of that phrase to me.
Frieza is horribly written and one-dimensional boring character.
@@testtest-vz8oj he's more iconic than pariston tho. No need to shit on DBZ togashi himself took a lot of inspiration from toriyama.
Can't wait to see Pariston in the manga again
Wow your thesis was gold, I didn't realize it at first, but you do actually get the character and how he's a mouth piece for togashi and it's wonderful to know other fans appreciate the subtleties of his character.
Many thanks.
The best Hunter x Hunter video creator makes a video on my favorite antagonist of the series. The only think I'm upset with is youtube taking almost a day to let me know this video happened.
TH-cam can never give me a break..
One of the reasons i like pariston as a caracter so much it's because he did'nt do all he did because he wanted power or some other generic vilanous reason, he just did'nt want to get bored, that's his hole motivation wich on paper it may sound stupid but honestly makes him a very interesting character because that means that he is capable of metaphoricly shooting hinself in the foot for shits and gigles and that whould not be out of character for him
"I love it when a plan comes together"
When pariston won the election he quit straight after thats how much of a troll he is
Pariston is probably one of my favorite characters.
I often find it hard to find

Christmas has come early! 😍 I’ve been waiting for a video on Pariston, he is one of my favorite characters because he is a legit troll and a true hunter (in regards to getting his “target” to act how he wants it to). Reading about him in the Dark Continent arc has me so hyped for Togashi’s plans with Pariston, Ging and their interactions with one another later on. He is brilliant in his presentation of his characters it’s really something if taken the time to think about the vast cast of Hunter x Hunter. Thank you for another brilliant analysis video!
Thanks for watching! Merry Christmas :)🎄🎁
An absolute masterpiece of a video, as your HxH videos usually are. You've inspired me to rewatch the series and reminded me why it is and always will be the best series I've ever watched.
Thank you very much, and if I can inspire a rewatch then I've done my job :)
Another 11/10 video, enjoyed!
Thanks!
Haha that laugh at the end made me really uncomfortable. Great video👍🏼
Thanks!
I laughed so hard when he gave it all up. I both hate and love sociopaths of his caliber. Jarring yet tantalizing
Truly amazing. This brilliant analysis made me see some points I missed and it makes the arc much more enjoyable.
Many thanks, brilliant to hear that.
thank you for this perspective! I was blown away when it came to light that Pariston didn’t care about the position in the slightest
Can't wait for the Hunter x Hunter 2046 anime to see where Pariston will do next!
The essence of trolling is ironic nihilism, believing nothing mathers, accepting that fact, and then finding all forms of seriousness funny
That’s that not what nihilism is, nor is that even what the essence of trolling is.

11:28 that part of your analysis hit my heart hard. It is so touching. Made me feel emphathy for Pariston's feeling toward Netero.
God Pariston would fit perfectly in a Call of Duty 2011-2013 game lobby
I liked pariston as a character/antagonist ? Rival is a better word
He was pretty mischievous I loved it
By definition he was an antagonist for the election arc.
Thank you for making a video on my favorite trash boy
Every time I see Pariston, a smile is put on my face. He is an admirable hunter and his rivalry with Ging is amazing. I can't wait to see them working "together" in the Dark Continent
I love how hes like “he pissed off the 13 zodiaks” but ging is just chilling there staring blankly while the rest are mad
What do y'all think Pariston's Nen ability is going to be
Hard to tell excately what, but he is most likely manipulator and specialist
Filip Ivanov It’s actually be a good subversion of expectations if he wasnt a manipulator
@@solitary2 would be absolute hilarity if he was actually an enhancer XD would be a major subversion of expectations.
i'll say transmuter, manipulation or specialist, but i think from what we know, specialist is better suit.
