I’m also upset at them for making a bootleg Ella/Cinderella. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited to see what happens next, and I absolutely adore Bridget, but they messed up MULTIPLE characters personalities AND stories lol.
Not to mention Prince Charming’s parents in the 1997 movie that the same actors are from clearly aren’t Filipino, so it’s not surprising that they would be fine with adopting a kid.
I will never stop thinking about the implication that Chad was adopted alongside the abandonment issues he displayed in the third movie, plus Cinderella’s whole history of abuse and neglect at the hands of her stepmother… did Ella continue the cycle???
When we were watching the movie and were at the part when The Queen of Hearts offed Cinderella, my mother thought the Queen was going to hold up Cinderella's decapitated head instead of the glass slippers. I then reminded her that this is a kids movie.
Royalty did not typically adopt because keeping the line of succession in the blood was very important for some reason. A king was more likely to die childless and have the throne pass to his brother than to adopt a child.
Did anyone else see that Fairy Godmother/Melanie Paxson is also a returning cast member from the original Descendants movies? Im curious. I know she doesn't play the biggest role but still.

Actually I come from the south and in my experience this is true to an extent. We have access to the internet and tv so our accents are much more neutralized and just a general “city accent.” But my friends’ grandparents still go around like howdy how yall doing. Every once in a while we slip into the drawl but nearly everyone I know has the ability to sound California adjacent if they feel like it. Obviously it’s not like a universal thing but it’s p common imo even in the smaller towns
My biggest gripe with this film was Maleficent's horns. THEY LOOKED STUFFED SND PLUSHY AND SHITTY. It just killed me to see how fake they look. I can handle bad plot, inconsistent wigs, plotholes galore, but messing eith the horns??? I can't.
I mean it wasn't really the casts or even the choice of characters fault that the movie wasn't good. It's just that the plot was so oddly rushed. If they do a part two that actually shows the consequences of this movie and flushes things out more, I'd be down. I actually liked these VKs a lot and kinda wanna see more of them.
I don’t think the cast was bad, I just think that the script was not great (it had potential but I get the feeling that the writers had Disney breathing down their necks the whole time) and the costume department needed a budget of more than 15 bucks per wig. Not to mention that it kinda just breaks some of the established canon of the universe, but to be fair it’s not like Descendants media is well known for maintaining its canon (* cough cough * the books * cough cough *)
I've come to the conclusion that it is a setup for another movie where they realize they did, in fact, screw something up. It was poorly eluded to, but Uma's end dialog pretty much confirms it was what they were trying to do.
8:25 actually got me thinking, there’s another movie coming out soon, and there IS no way the VKs pulled the prank in the og timeline, someone else HAD to have pulled the prank, and hopefully the next movie reveals who
This movie feels like someones kinda crappy fanfic turned into a film (but also I wouldn't be surprised if the original idea was it's own franchise that got warped into a descendants movie)
My friend said that for our own peace of mind, we should think of it as them getting Cinderella grounded for the dance saving Bridgette. It's implied it's Cinderella's fault, and maybe it couldn't happen cause she had to stay home
The only fourth film,is the animated one where mal and ben gets married. 1:38 Those rap battles slapped though on TH-cam. 5:02 Maleficent and Hades were married.Hades mentioned that.
I could've forgiven the movie if they showed us the DAMN PRANK?! We were building up to smth but noOoO we'll have a cringe dance party in what should be the middle of the movie to end it off. The villains didn't even do anything 😭
We need a fanfic where Bridget became evil after her bestie (and probably lesbic crush) left her alone at the dance and decided "fuck it, I'll go with Charming" EVEN AFTER SAYING NO TO HIM 'CAUSE SHE HAD BRIDGET
8:15 Okay, I'm going to give my 2 cents on this. Yes, Uliana's crew got frozen by the spell Merlin placed on the cookbook and were subsequently caught by him in his office. However, consider that the only reason why Merlin entered his office to begin with was because Red and Chloe couldn't stop the security owl from escaping. Personally, between Uliana's tentacles, Hades' fire, and Maleficent's magic, I find it unlikely that the owl would have escaped, meaning Merlin wouldn't enter his office until the next morning, leaving time for Morgie, the son of Morgana, who was outside keeping watch, but could see into the room, to find a way to break the freezing spell. Then, realizing that they couldn't open the cookbook themselves, they could have tricked someone into opening it for them. Furthermore, they could have tricked Ella into giving Bridget the magic cupcake, leading Bridget to think Ella was the one that played the prank, potentially adding insult to injury when Ella ends up spending time with Charming.
The only two things that genuinely bugs me is the existence of chad charming being completely ignored and the fact that jaladdin was even approved in the first place
2:17 The prank wasn't just to make her ugly. The prank was to turn her into a monster at the school dance. And for a kind, young girl who just wants to make friends, public humiliation and being laughed at by everyone is very bad. She will have to live with that memory for the rest of her life, whereas if she burns she will be in terrible pain for a few minutes and then she will die. And Uliana wants Bridget to suffer just like she did. 3:04 China didn't have anything better to do? The scene with Carlos shows that it was very important to China and that this movie meant something to her. China didn't have anything better to do because this was important to her. 5:29 Maybe the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella won't notice because they watched Red and Chloe grow up and have not suddenly met two girls in the present who look exactly the same. They'll also have a hard time remembering two girls they knew for less than a week over 30 years ago. 7:43 Or Uma's statement at the end makes it clear that there will be a sequel and that the ending was planned that way. The 1997 Cinderella film explains how Chad can be white. Aladin and Jasmine were 16 in their story and they are not in the same class as Bridget and Ella, which means they could be older. The reason it is Uliana and not Ursula is because Ursula is the big villain and Uliana wants to get out of her sister's shadow and it is all the more important for her to get revenge because she definitely doesn't want to be seen as weak and therefore not as evil as her sister. It wouldn't have worked with Alice's daughter because then Alice and Bridget would have been friends and Alice and her daughter would have had a completely different attitude to certain actions than Chloe and Ella. And although the villains froze, they only opened the book at that moment because Red and Chloe were there. If they hadn't been there, they would have opened the book later and the spell might have been broken before the ball. Chloe also changed something important that may have an impact on the future.
I know people think it's bad, and honestly it opens a lot of plot holes, but the song Life Is Sweeter single-handedly convinced me to give Descendants another try, and I actually like it a lot now
Regarding Uliana... if they were going to give Ursula a sister, why not Morgana from the Little Mermaid II? Where is she getting all these direct to video sequel sisters from????
Personally, I enjoyed this movie, but I absolutely love how everyone has the same reaction to "call us Jaladdin". Also, with Chad, given that the actor that plays Prince Charming is the same actor who played that role in Brandy's Cinderella, I choose to believe that he has the same family that he had in that film, which when you take that into account, Chad being white doesn't bother me at all. 8:55 Did you not listen to Uma's ending narration? She clearly implied that there would be consequences for messing with time.
my favorite part is when Uliana calls herself the worst thing on earth, true evil, etc. and I was like "then why are you attending highschool?" also Hook in this movie is very hot, but nothing can top Harry
Literally don’t know how they thought they could make this a decent movie without Cameron Boyce like bro he was the only reason I sat through the first 2 💀
Haven't seen the movie in full...but from the many clips I've watched and all the chatter I've heard about it...everything was valid except the part about Chad. In the movie his parents are from, his dad's dad is white (VICTOR GARBER) and his dad's mom is black (WHOOPI GOLDBERG). He literally comes from a legacy of colorblind casting.
Fun fact Uliana is brought from Juliana Nicomedia who was beheaded after suffering torture in 304, during the persecution of Maximian. It is said that her torture included being partially burned in flames and plunged into a boiling pot of oil, before finally being beheaded.
K, so to preface my critique of this children's movie for children, I'll clarify that I am a guy in his early 20s who recently watched though all four movies with his twin tweenage sisters because they asked me to. So, yeah, I am very *not* the target audience for a movie like this, and I'm not attached to the world and characters like fans of the series are. I did think 1 and 3 were pretty nice though. I agree with pretty much every comment in the video (especially the one about the finale being cut, that *absolutely* happened). But what disappointed me the most was Red's character. If I could change anything about the OG Descendants movies, it would be to make the VKs more evil at the start. Like, aside from the love-potion laced cookie (which is nullified almost immediately), none of the VKs ever actually do anything particularly evil. Like, the snooty royal kids are *clearly* worse, and they don't really try to hide it. I know that's kind of the point, and the third movie does do a lot to point out the double standard, but when the VKs decide to "change" at the end of the first movie I wasn't really sure what they were changing from. Like, they were all clearly uncomfortable with their parents' plan from the get-go, and they never seemed like they were actually going to do it. It felt almost victim-blame-y to me. What'd they have to be sorry for? Anyway, the fact that the "Villain-Kids" were never really villains is fine and serves the story well enough. But what I wanted from RoR was to see a VK that was actually *evil* to start with. As is, she comes off as really wishy-washy about the whole "world domination" thing, but not in the way the original VKs were. The OGs were conflicted about taking over the world, whereas Red just seems largely unbothered by it. Her main issues with her mom don't really come from the fact that she casually and gleefully murders people, she just thinks she's kind of a nag. In the beginning, Red sidesteps ordering the execution of the commander guy, which might make you think she has a problem with murder. But then, not ten minutes later, she orders the execution of Cinderella just because Cinderella said she wouldn’t. It was a petty "Ha! That'll show her!" moment, but involving a murder, which would actually be fine by me if she stuck to her guns afterwards. But no, she's *immediately* remorseful, which is not what I would expect from someone who was A-OK with literal murder thirty seconds ago. Red had more to work with than Chloe when it came to motivation and backstory, but it felt like the writers couldn’t decide whether they wanted a rebel or a dictator.
I hated the ending. Like all they had to do was just hide the cookbook and there. That’s it. Nothing special didn’t even happen. If Ella was the one who did the prank that would’ve been better. And I feel like the music in this movie doesn’t really match too.
The second the movie was over, I audibly went: “that was it?” Because even though it’s leading up to a sequel, it was just- not even a cliffhanger. It was just too short, even though it’s normal movie length. The ending was way too abrupt. Also like, why did Chloe’s wig change every goddamn time the scene changed. It was very noticeable. (Also young hook is so fucking hot in this oh my god)
Theory about the plot of Descendants Rise of Red and potential sequel to it if there is one. (Possible spoilers of the movie? I don't know.) Hear me out... what if the Fairy Godmother did it? What if she put the curse on Bridget? It kind of makes sense, she couldn't do any spells and yet Bridget could. Ella was her best friend and probably wouldn't help the villains. However, maybe the villains could've easily manipulated the Fairy Godmother, like how Mal convinced Jane to steal the magic wand for her own desires in the first Descendants movie. Since the spell book opens for those who are not villains or those who are good, they could use Fairy Godmother to open the book so they could have access to spells. We probably also don't see Fairy Godmother for a lot of the movie, not even during the plot or when the villains first appear. So this could make sense if they're trying to make a sequel where they show the actual villain. Or maybe, the Fairy Godmother could confess that she helped the villains curse Bridget. Not entirely sure if it really makes sense, but it is a good theory. Let me know what y'all think.
In the original Aladdin movie, Aladdin and Jasmine first met they where in high school age, and lived in Arabia. In the Rise Of Red movie they are high school age which is the same age as when they met in the OG movie. And also the married I the OG movie. They are dating in Rise Of Red and also in some magical-land-place and not Arabia?
My friend and I watched this the day it premiered on Disney Plus and thought what a lot of these reviews were saying: IT FELT SO UNDONE!! My best friend has *not* endured a five-year-long Descendants fixation for this. 😔 (Jk... Sort of.)

also, she shows up when uma's sister falls into the fountain and she laughs. honestly she wouldn't do that.
why would she choose the name zellie, if she had to choose a nick name it would be raps, or something sun related
anyways i'm upset at disney for making a bootleg rapunzel and not vat7k
Tangled fan spotted
I’m also upset at them for making a bootleg Ella/Cinderella. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited to see what happens next, and I absolutely adore Bridget, but they messed up MULTIPLE characters personalities AND stories lol.

3:38. I believe Chad was mentioned as being in college, so I don't think it's too far stretched to say he could be adopted.
Not to mention Prince Charming’s parents in the 1997 movie that the same actors are from clearly aren’t Filipino, so it’s not surprising that they would be fine with adopting a kid.
Funny thing about Maleficent and Hades being together, in the show House of Mouse, there’s an episode about Hades simping for Maleficent.
the fact red actually made a your mums dead joke in the film makes me say it's a 10/10, most i've laughed at a kids film ever
At the risk of expressing a not-very-unpopular opinion, I think they really should've just stopped making these movies after Cameron Boyce (RIP) died.
They honestly should of. I think that’s why the main cast didn’t want to do another movie because it wouldn’t be right. Rip Cameron Boyce
I will never stop thinking about the implication that Chad was adopted alongside the abandonment issues he displayed in the third movie, plus Cinderella’s whole history of abuse and neglect at the hands of her stepmother… did Ella continue the cycle???
Maybe his first parents were crappy and then he got adopted?
yoo blackbeard pfp? sick! :D
all i could think about while watching that movie was where the heck chad spawned from.
When we were watching the movie and were at the part when The Queen of Hearts offed Cinderella, my mother thought the Queen was going to hold up Cinderella's decapitated head instead of the glass slippers. I then reminded her that this is a kids movie.
3:46
people forget that adoption exists
4:56 they were married before! Then he dipped, lol he literally said “try being married to your mama”
i know adoption exists i just wasnt thinking at the time 😭😭
Adoption is such a boring answer, it's more fun to say they have their movie's colorblind genetics and he just takes after his white grandfather
@@brodenm2024oh dang that's literally you lmao
Royalty did not typically adopt because keeping the line of succession in the blood was very important for some reason. A king was more likely to die childless and have the throne pass to his brother than to adopt a child.
@@stevenhiggins3055 Disney wouldn’t make it something like that if its for kids. But, im pretty sure sure its canon that he got his grandad’s genes
Did anyone else see that Fairy Godmother/Melanie Paxson is also a returning cast member from the original Descendants movies? Im curious. I know she doesn't play the biggest role but still.

How do all the parents have southern accents but none of their kids do? (except Dixie)
The same reason why in HTTYD everyone but Hiccup and co. are Scottish
I can't.
Dude, this was my question in 2:05 like why couldn’t they just use Ursula ever since descendants two I wanted to see Ursula‘s
if we get a 5th movie with this cast, i'm going to scream.
edit: by cast, i mean red, chloe, bridgette, etc, not kylie, malia, china, etc
the story seems like a two parter so ig it will be idk
With joy or terror
@@meias. terror. absolute terror.
2:08 I mean Uliana’s cauldron thing suggested a plan that was super effective (Bridget was traumatized very badly and hated everyone afterwards)

Even the jaladin part?
I've come to the conclusion that it is a setup for another movie where they realize they did, in fact, screw something up. It was poorly eluded to, but Uma's end dialog pretty much confirms it was what they were trying to do.

This movie feels like someones kinda crappy fanfic turned into a film (but also I wouldn't be surprised if the original idea was it's own franchise that got warped into a descendants movie)
I saw something that Chad was adopted because a lot of people think Ella would adopt a child in need (maybe like Chad?)
My friend said that for our own peace of mind, we should think of it as them getting Cinderella grounded for the dance saving Bridgette. It's implied it's Cinderella's fault, and maybe it couldn't happen cause she had to stay home
I’m not sure if it actually is, but I’ll forever consider the fourth movie a spin-off

As much as I wanted to, I cannot bring myself to hate this movie. Despite its flaws, I found some of the awkward moments kind of endearing 😂
True
Finaly a good thing
I SWEAR EVER AFTER HIGH DID *NOT* DIE FOR THIS
8:15 Okay, I'm going to give my 2 cents on this.
As a Brit, I can confirm. You do develop an English accent when you become a villain. LOL
5:30 It’s simple, Back to the Future logic.
The only two things that genuinely bugs me is the existence of chad charming being completely ignored and the fact that jaladdin was even approved in the first place
If Cinderella and the fairy godmother went to high school at the same time then are they...the same age in this universe?
The continuity errors in this movie are crazy.
Don’t get me wrong, the original trilogy had their share of flaws but this is just…..WHAT?
4:03 if I had to go to school with jalladdin I would too 😰
I personally think that the 4th movie takes place in another universe 💀
The fact that Tiana's verse was cut over Jalladin is criminal
Jasmine and Aladdin head spin will forever be stuck in my head
Descendants will probs be the one to unexpectedly save Disney
i feel like the movie was good, but much more than that.
also saying China had nothing better to do is wild, insane even
But not false...she had that whole religious crisis some time ago... I was surprised to see her back in Disney😅
5:03 He mentioned being married to maleficent so it was never a fling
I know people think it's bad, and honestly it opens a lot of plot holes, but the song Life Is Sweeter single-handedly convinced me to give Descendants another try, and I actually like it a lot now
Regarding Uliana... if they were going to give Ursula a sister, why not Morgana from the Little Mermaid II? Where is she getting all these direct to video sequel sisters from????
8:02
That part got me 😂
Personally, I enjoyed this movie, but I absolutely love how everyone has the same reaction to "call us Jaladdin".
I love watching your channel and patreon members grow.
my favorite part is when Uliana calls herself the worst thing on earth, true evil, etc. and I was like "then why are you attending highschool?"
also Hook in this movie is very hot, but nothing can top Harry
Gonna be totally honest here, Hook was ok, BUT NOTHING CAN TOP HARRY HOOKS EYELINER. that shit had me simping at like ten years old-
Fun fact decendants rise of red has 28 minutes of deleted scenes including that character they got rid of can't remember her name
Literally don’t know how they thought they could make this a decent movie without Cameron Boyce like bro he was the only reason I sat through the first 2 💀
The fact that we didn’t actually see what happened at castlecoming bums me. Would’ve made the movie a lot better
We should’ve kept it a trilogy
HEY TWINK HOOK SERVED !!! ( i love joshua so much y’all watch dead boy detectives he’s my fave little gay crow in it )
THE PLOTHOLE WAS SO REAL. WHY?!
Red had more to work with than Chloe when it came to motivation and backstory, but it felt like the writers couldn’t decide whether they wanted a rebel or a dictator.
we could’ve had a tiana rap verse but instead we got jalladin
I don't know.)
Hear me out... what if the Fairy Godmother did it? Let me know what y'all think.
yes! I like this theory
@thank you!
9:02 it literally did… or will from what we know from Uma’s monologue at the end
In the original Aladdin movie, Aladdin and Jasmine first met they where in high school age, and lived in Arabia. In the Rise Of Red movie they are high school age which is the same age as when they met in the OG movie. And also the married I the OG movie.
