I think it would’ve been cool if it were “villains” but not those ones, instead Cinderella’s stepsisters. It would explain part of why Bridget hates Cinderella and it’s an easier to understand why they attend the same school. They decide to mess with Bridget because she’s close with Ella and they hate her, Bridget thinks Ella played a role and that’s why she didn’t help. It also leaves Ella innocent of any real wrongdoing, while connecting everything to their ruined relationship.
But it is a part of the other movies bc at the end of the royal wedding they showed white roses with RED paint and they also showed the rabbit hole which gives us a clue of that the new movie will be about Alice in Wonderland and if you don't believe me watch it your self and you will see what I am talking about.

As a mom who just bought her kids Descendants: Rise of Red Halloween costumes AND WIGS, my conspiracy theory is that everyone had shitty Party City wigs so they can squeeze another $20 each out of parents. Also, for the love of god, get a drag queen as the wig woman on this movie. They don’t even need a big budget, the girls are used to doing more with less, and every wig won’t look like they just whipped it out for he bag and threw it on.
One thing that’s been going around and around my head since I watched this movie, is how Red is now fundamentally a stranger in her own life. Having such a different mom means that Wonderland was not in a dictatorship, and the new timeline, Ried would’ve grown up with friends and hobbies and love and a good relationship with her mom. She wouldn’t have a lifetime of training on how to be a cruel ruler bouncing around in her head. There wouldnt be anything to rebel against. She might not be close confidants with Maddox. This leaves me to believe that there must be some sort of insane adjustment period as Red slowly realizes that none of her memories are true anymore. To her mom, it might seem like Red was possessed by a surly bitter neglected stranger who flinches away from her for no reason and assumes the worst when talking to her. There’s even a risk that the “new Red” is still running around there somewhere. I think it would be incredibly lonely, even if all the changes are for the better, to find out that the world you came from no longer exists.
I don't have a solution for how they could've done the tribute better, I think what you said could've made it a little better, but it always felt a little corporate to me. To me, it felt like Disney didn't want to address it maybe bc they felt like they already had in the royal wedding short, but they knew people would be upset if they didn't. So they just slapped an old picture up and called it a day. And I know China and Cameron were good friends for a long time so I understand her being the one to do it, but Carlos and Uma weren't really friends, so that also took me out of it a bit
THANK YOU! I agree 100% with everything you said. I know it came from the right place but I also knew it felt forced because there was never any real close on screen connection to the Uma/Carlos characters in these movies before at all. Like from what I recall they never had an interaction or one on one scene before, so such a strong emotional reaction makes sense for China obviously as a human who knew Cameron... but not for Uma as a character in continuity who knew Carlos to be acting that way imo. She would be sad sure but I don't think this sad. Part of me wishes instead they had Jane there somehow as well to incorporate in this scene and back Uma up here, but perhaps her actress wasn't interested either. I think especially having Fairy Godmother but leaving out her daughter Jane of all people, when she was the character LITERALLY dating Carlos in these movies and had the closest in movie tie with him, it would make more sense to have Jane relay the "what Carlos would've wanted line" to persuade Fairy Godmother while looking at the photo whole also having Uma there on screen as support showing her respect and gratitude.

Like she did marry the Prince obviously so wouldn't that be obvious??? I guess it's a shock because Cinderella is such a benevolent, and gracious ruler and probably becomes that way over time. I think Cinderella in this universe becomes kind and benevolent because she remembers how Bridgit used to be, and she respected how her kindness made her stronger? Which is why Cinderella decided to become kind and welcoming in the future, I guess she was probably inspired by Bridgit?
I hate to admit it but they kinda copied ever after high by having their parents go to high school all together when they were young like it kinda breaks the continuity of the three movies before it they really should have workshop the story more also please do a analysis of ever after high or at least just the dolls since they based it off of the Grimm fairy tales so they had free control to do whatever they wanted I know you would describe all the details so well I know everybody always pin this two franchises together but I think you would have fun with it maybe do a side by side of the children together I haven’t seen anyone really do that seriously great video as always

it was already a joke about 1997 cinderella that a black woman and a white man somehow had a filipino son, and now with chad being established as brandy cinderella and paolo charming’s son with (to my knowledge) no implication that he’s adopted that joke can be passed down to a younger audience. edit: while i also would have loved canon disney lesbians, if zellie is meant to be rapunzel herself and not rapunzel’s daughter (which is unclear i know but her being in the past implies the former) i can see that potential plotline feeling. weird. and also bound to end without them permanently getting together because zellie is from the past, which chloe has to leave. unless chloe’s hypothetical plotline ended with her deciding to abandon the present and live in the past, and at the end of the series we meet an adult chloe in the present.
I have too many thoughts on this film so I'm very glad this video exists, you just *get* Descendants like very few other TH-camrs do (also I love the Attractionistas Maddie doll in the background)
I really felt like this movie had an interesting premise they just weren't able to fulfill. Time travel movies can be hit or miss, but when it comes to a franchise that already has 3 movies it could have worked. However, I didn't like that it didn't feel like they went back in time. Using ship names and using words like "vibe" feel way too modern and unrealistic. It doesn't *need* to be old timey, but it would have been the perfect time to try and replicate how older disney princess movies were in terms of dialect or style. Also, I feel like they didn't utilize the characters as best as they could have. I would have love seeing them subtly fixing what happened by Bridget gaining more friends throughout the movie who ended up stopping the prank. We already had a lot of characters brought up in "Life Is Sweeter" who we could have gotten closer to as the movie progressed and would have been a foil to Ulianna's crew.
one theory i had about the movie and why the queen of hearts turned good in the end, is because the cupcake prank didnt happen not for the prank and humiliation but because is the cupcake that turned bridget into the queen of hearts, the book saids the cupcake turns someone into a monster doesnt mention if the monster is physical or mentaly, some of the villains are monsters but their not mounstreous apparecen wise, so what i think happen is that ella and bridget go to castle comming togheter ella leaves bridget to dance with charming, uliana gives bridget the cupcake, bridget eats it and that makes her into the dictator we see in the movie, feeling abandon by ella and really anger for her suppose friends turning agaisnt her (not really) is what makes her bitter too, the book never specifies if the effects of the cupcake are permanent
if those two went back in time and then the present was altered because of it, would that not mean all the adults would remember meeting them back then?
i will swear up and down that Morgie is the one who did the prank. he’s the son of a very VERY powerful sorceress i couldn’t imagine it being that difficult for him to unenchant the book in order to do it, he also has a bunch of reasons to be the one to do it the main one being that he wants to be liked and respected by Uliana, it literally says it in the descendants: the world of auradon: royals and villains (though not sure how valid that one is) however you could argue that he’d get frozen too if he opened the book but 1, like i’ve said he’s the son of Morgana so if he couldn’t unenchant the book i’m sure Morgana could and then 2, maybe he’s just not down right evil like the other VKs and is only evil because he’s yk…he’s the son of a villain so he’s a villain by association and again with the whole wanting to be liked by Uliana but honestly that sounds more like a fanfiction than anything lol. it just seems like such a random exclusion to make him seem so important (he has more lines than Hades and Maleficent, and perhaps even screen time to boot) there’s so much set up to make him the big bad at the end of this entire rabbit hole that it feels as if they’re saving him for the second movie or something….
9:39 I said this SO MANY TIMES when the 2nd movie came out! Uma wanted everyone off that island FIRST then Evie saw Dizzy and then she wanted to get more kids like her off the island and at the end of the 2nd movie, she's advertised as the one who wanted all the kids off the island but then in the 3rd movie Evie says to Mal in one line "Mal, no one wanted those kids off that isle more than you!". EVIE WHAT? Mal literally didn't care and Carlos didn't even acknowledge the other kids on the isle at first either. I remember being so frustrated when I heard her say that back in 2019.
My sister pointed that out. It was so annoying. I at least appreciated them giving Uma the line "my plan" when the barrier finally came down, because yeah, it was!
All i could think about with Chester and Ace were the Twisted Wonderland designs of the chesire cat and ace trappola. I think you might find it interesting since you like Descendants so much and I really enjoy the character designs.

Red and Riddle are both children of unreasonably strict mothers, both mothers even have rules against sweets. Chester and Chenya are both based on the Cheshire Cat, and Trey is said to be twisted from one of the card soldiers, something Ace is turned into.
They should have use Madam Mim than Morganna. It’s weird for them to choose a random character than the one actually in sword in the stone. I was so worried when I checked the timeline there’s only 30 minutes left but the plot still building up. The ending feels empty. Then it feels intentional verses the good old lifetouch portrait that is only there for the tribute.

It would mesh better and look less out of place if it was the Queens guards, seeing as the guards show up anyway during the coup. Also does anyone feel like the coup was too early??? Like it should have been later in the movie, and that Chloe and Red would/should/could have more time to play off each other as characters?
My theory is that after the dance party it's reveled that since Ella was grounded she never got with prince charming and slowly Chloe starts disappearing and red has to go back and save her. It probably won't be the case cause at the end of rise of red chole and Ella hug, but it would've been cool

No I completely agree with your take on the Carlos tribute. I felt like such a dick for not liking how it was done. It felt forced, awkward, and made no sense for their characters. I watched the movie with my friend the day at came out and she liked how it was done and everyone else seemed to love the tribute, so I just thought I was the only one who was disappointed. I don't have a problem with them having one or with Uma being the one to make it, but why did she say that's what he would've wanted??? When did he specifically express that? He never had a strong stance on the issue due to only the girls being plot relevant. I feel like Uma could've named something after him on school grounds, especially cause she wasn't shown the be close with him in the movies. Or maybe when she was introducing herself as the new principal she could've unveiled a statue of him. Just spitballing, but I feel like it would've made a lot more sense than the awkward scene they went with.

When I first watched this movie I genuinely thought Ella was the one who pranked Bridgette and that’s why she says “I saw through her, everyone here is two faced and too fake” in love an’t it.
And I felt like everything in the movie just kept leading towards that. Like Ella didn’t want to go to the dance but suddenly she wants to go with Bridgette. And she seems so upset when Ella says it was a stupid prank, she seems angry in a way that made me think that she was upset because Ella was like underplaying something that she did to Bridget. And the villain kids seem like a red herring especially when red and Chloe say “well now we know who did the prank”. Ella also seems to look down on Bridgette because she’s too happy and too nice
I thought the twist was gonna be that since the book froze the VKs (and that would have happened anyway), it turns out they were never the ones to do the prank, that it was Ella, and that's why in the future she was like "It as a stupid prank" which was really dismissive of something that clearly traumatized this woman. As for my guesses on what they changed in the past, maybe something to do with Chloe's parents? I really have no idea
I haven't watched the movie (I'm not really planning to) but I have unfortunately seen the Cursed Child in the West End (this was before JK McTerf outed herself as a complete fucking monster). And from your description, this movie is giving Cursed Child vibes. Like, that play is so infuriating because (despite the choreography and stage magic, which was genuinely impressive) it's actually TWO PLAYS, each telling HALF A STORY, so you essentially have to pay twice to get one, very long, very terrible narrative. Also, that play is all about time travel. Harry and Draco's kids go back in time to save Cedric Diggary's life (I can't remember why), and for some reason that means that the Death Eaters won the war??? So they have to go back in time again to fix things and it's just so fucking irritating

I'm so sad about D4 cos I was willing to accept all the retcons and just have a good time, and I was, but then it didn't have a proper ending (and no, no potential sequel can fix that issue) Castlecoming was an absolute MUST, there's no discussion it had to happen even if D4 is just the first act of the new trilogy. D1 had the Coronation, D2 Cottilion and D3 resolved the whole Isle of the Lost, all of these were finished movies on their own, you cannot explain away that D4 is missing its climax by saying 'but Uma said it wasn't the end' That's literally in every one of the other movies, D1 and D2 set up their sequels too and still had their climax play out properly without letting most of their main cast fall of the edge of the planet Anyways i have so many thoughts of my own I'll watch the video now lol, edits may be added
I'm actually glad someone else isn't a massive fan of the tribute because if you're a heartless shrew, so am I. It felt like a ploy for sympathy ratings imo, like I don't mind that they continued the series but I think they needed to either find a better way to offer tribute, or not kill off the character - why couldn't he be off with the others? What happened to Cam was a tragedy and he deserves to be remembered but I don't know, I feel it would've been better to have his memory live on in his character.

The "dont be such a princess" comment was most likely Ella saying that Chloe goes through life with reckless abandon because shes a princess and she has the money and privilege to not care about things and not worry about say knocking over a vase because that object means nothing to her.
I feel like Ella is manipulated by Morgie or Uliana that they can help her get to the dance if she does the prank. So Ella goes w the VKs to Castlecoming to do the prank but Ella dances w Charming and after the prank Bridget goes to find her only friend Ella who asked her to the dance dancing w someone else. Therefore primarily blaming and hating Ella. Also Uliana might be the one to manipulate the situation further and blame Ella, and later helping Bridget become a Villain.

I think they made uliana the villain instead of ursula bc we know how ursula turned out and they wanted an original character to do what they want with. Same for morgie. I think they should’ve kept that same energy with the other ppl in the crew, it’s weird to see the parents of kids we know be just sidekicks. And maybe add Aladdin's son as Chloe's friend? And these would be the main 4 of this new trilogy. Imagine Aladdin's son reaction to "call us jaladdin" lol. What i liked tbe most on descendants was the relationships and friendships, and this movie lacks that
I actually did enjoy watching the movie (I tried to not pick apart the plotholes and continuity errors bc it would just make me hate it). I think the characters were nice and it was cute. But yeah they could’ve done so much more TT I really like your alternative endings tho and I wish they would’ve done something similar. Also, since you know so much about Descendants I suggest looking into Ever After High. It follows the Grimm versions of fairytales and is more mystical. The rules of the world are much clearer than Descendants and I think the plots of all the specials are really good. However, the parents of the characters aren’t always super clear and doesn’t really make sense, as well as how some of the animal fairy tale characters have human kids…
in EAH is canon (or at least heavily implied) that all the animals have human forms they shapeshift into. I also think EAH makes space for confusing lore by having the world be so innately magical, these stories magically repeat themselves generation after generation and where the school is located feels like a pocket dimension of sorts, that fairytale characters are able to access while studying or after reaching their fairytales' endings. I think of it as something similar to Dimension 20's Neverafter in the matter of worldbuilding.
I would like to point out that Morgana does appear in Disney's The Sword in the Stone as that purple witch lady. But yeah, they should've totally told Merlin. If not for the time travel thing, then at least tell him that one of his students is gonna get really bullied! Your idea that Merlin should've been absent is a good one, and Ella being tricked into doing the prank is also a really good idea. It would make more sense as to why Bridget is so angry at Ella. Edit: oops, was wrong about the Morgana part, sorry

I know I’m a bit late on this but I would like to put my two cents on why Star Wars and Descendants were different situations. Star Wars, by the time Carrie Fisher died, was already moving on from the OG cast. Not in a way many fans enjoyed mind you, and Disney still fully planned to include members of the og cast somehow, but it was no longer Luke, Leia, and Hans’s show. It hadn’t been for quite a while, long before any og cast members passed. Additionally we should consider that, as far as I’m aware, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford didn’t call Disney disrespectful for continuing the movies without Carrie. In comparison: If I recall correctly Descendants had only just barely finished it’s og trilogy when Cameron Boyce died. That means his death was very fresh when the third and final movie came out, for his family, the cast, and fans. On top of that, many OG cast members (namely BooBoo, Dove, and Sofia) either spoke out against the sequel or expressed a distaste for being in the sequel, which fans rallied behind. It makes sense that Descendants fans would have strong feelings about a new movie and the idea that in doing so, Disney is being disrespectful to Cameron. In comparison to Star Wars where it was easier to accept.
Honestly, even if it wasn't your fault, kneeling in front of your ex best friend who was humiliated and revived severe trauma seems like the least you can do to try and make them feel better. Seems like she just wants a sense of control after it was lost to her. Not that what she's doing is okay, but with how "nice" Cinderella is supposed to be she is very cold to her ex best friend who again went through something very traumatic. Also uliana, soften your pride, that incident was YOUR fault. She warned you not to eat the feathers.
I think what annoyed me the most is that they don’t use the lore that already existed from the books and ‘wicked world’ and inventing new characters instead of using already established characters, like Genie Gothel, Anthony Tremaine, Harriet Hook, Goston the first and the second Or CJ Hook, Freddy Facilier, Ali daughter of Alice in wonderland, or Ruby daughter of Rapunzel! So many characters you can explore instead of inventing new characters!!!
I love the movie so much and think it not only adds great new main characters but also is adding what seems to be good world building to the live action screen that is. Maybe bc I’m retired from my years and years of being a lore junkie for Star Wars and since COVID I’ve needed a new franchise to hyperfixate on all of its complicated and messed up lore, I’ve stuck to Descendants lol

I honestly think makes all sense in the world for The Queen Of Hearts to not want to join Auradon as well look what happened to Queen Grimhilde (The Evil Queen) and presumably The Horned King and King Magnifico all dump into the open air prison and disinherited of there respective kingdom like why would the Queen Of Hearts want that
which does make you think - if those villains were still in power when they got thrown into the isle, then Auradon had to invade their kingdoms and do a coup to annex the lands into auradon. If not, in the case that they were dead (ie the evil queen), they literally brought back people from the dead just to torture them (and apparently also everyone who ever once even worked for them for the sheer amount of people there were at the isle?)
I loved bringing back Brandi and Paolo. I hate that they didn't do Ursula like wtf? And I found the pair of actresses they chose to be young and old queen of hearts was an odd combo... both would have been fine individually but no resemblance....

22:12 I actually preferred the pacing of this movie rather than the first Descendants movie, one of my issues with it is that it was way too fast. I like a movie that gives itself time to expose the story and get us acquainted with the setting and characters, specially if they're gonna turn everything upside down as part of the main conflict. It feels like DCOMs kept getting faster and faster as the years went in (Newsies which is kinda a proto-DCOM takes its sweet time, it's 2 full hours long, HSM is a bit faster, and Descendants 1 was like everyone needed to get it over with to take the next train), I'm glad rise of red moved away from that

This video came out on my birthday? A little to late to wish me happy birthday though 😅 I don't find this movie disrespectful at all. The songs were enjoyable, and the characters were cool enough. As a mom who just bought her kids Descendants: Rise of Red Halloween costumes AND WIGS, my conspiracy theory is that everyone had shitty Party City wigs so they can squeeze another $20 each out of parents. Also, for the love of god, get a drag queen as the wig woman on this movie. They don’t even need a big budget, the girls are used to doing more with less, and every wig won’t look like they just whipped it out for he bag and threw it on.
One thing that’s been going around and around my head since I watched this movie, is how Red is now fundamentally a stranger in her own life. Having such a different mom means that Wonderland was not in a dictatorship, and the new timeline, Ried would’ve grown up with friends and hobbies and love and a good relationship with her mom. She wouldn’t have a lifetime of training on how to be a cruel ruler bouncing around in her head. There wouldnt be anything to rebel against. She might not be close confidants with Maddox. This leaves me to believe that there must be some sort of insane adjustment period as Red slowly realizes that none of her memories are true anymore. To her mom, it might seem like Red was possessed by a surly bitter neglected stranger who flinches away from her for no reason and assumes the worst when talking to her. There’s even a risk that the “new Red” is still running around there somewhere. I think it would be incredibly lonely, even if all the changes are for the better, to find out that the world you came from no longer exists.
I don't have a solution for how they could've done the tribute better, I think what you said could've made it a little better, but it always felt a little corporate to me. To me, it felt like Disney didn't want to address it maybe bc they felt like they already had in the royal wedding short, but they knew people would be upset if they didn't. So they just slapped an old picture up and called it a day. And I know China and Cameron were good friends for a long time so I understand her being the one to do it, but Carlos and Uma weren't really friends, so that also took me out of it a bit
THANK YOU! I agree 100% with everything you said. I know it came from the right place but I also knew it felt forced because there was never any real close on screen connection to the Uma/Carlos characters in these movies before at all. Like from what I recall they never had an interaction or one on one scene before, so such a strong emotional reaction makes sense for China obviously as a human who knew Cameron... but not for Uma as a character in continuity who knew Carlos to be acting that way imo. She would be sad sure but I don't think this sad. Part of me wishes instead they had Jane there somehow as well to incorporate in this scene and back Uma up here, but perhaps her actress wasn't interested either. I think especially having Fairy Godmother but leaving out her daughter Jane of all people, when she was the character LITERALLY dating Carlos in these movies and had the closest in movie tie with him, it would make more sense to have Jane relay the "what Carlos would've wanted line" to persuade Fairy Godmother while looking at the photo whole also having Uma there on screen as support showing her respect and gratitude.

edit: while i also would have loved canon disney lesbians, if zellie is meant to be rapunzel herself and not rapunzel’s daughter (which is unclear i know but her being in the past implies the former) i can see that potential plotline feeling. weird. and also bound to end without them permanently getting together because zellie is from the past, which chloe has to leave. unless chloe’s hypothetical plotline ended with her deciding to abandon the present and live in the past, and at the end of the series we meet an adult chloe in the present.

I really felt like this movie had an interesting premise they just weren't able to fulfill. Time travel movies can be hit or miss, but when it comes to a franchise that already has 3 movies it could have worked. However, I didn't like that it didn't feel like they went back in time. Using ship names and using words like "vibe" feel way too modern and unrealistic. It doesn't *need* to be old timey, but it would have been the perfect time to try and replicate how older disney princess movies were in terms of dialect or style. Also, I feel like they didn't utilize the characters as best as they could have. I would have love seeing them subtly fixing what happened by Bridget gaining more friends throughout the movie who ended up stopping the prank. We already had a lot of characters brought up in "Life Is Sweeter" who we could have gotten closer to as the movie progressed and would have been a foil to Ulianna's crew.

one theory i had about the movie and why the queen of hearts turned good in the end, is because the cupcake prank didnt happen not for the prank and humiliation but because is the cupcake that turned bridget into the queen of hearts, the book saids the cupcake turns someone into a monster doesnt mention if the monster is physical or mentaly, some of the villains are monsters but their not mounstreous apparecen wise, so what i think happen is that ella and bridget go to castle comming togheter ella leaves bridget to dance with charming, uliana gives bridget the cupcake, bridget eats it and that makes her into the dictator we see in the movie, feeling abandon by ella and really anger for her suppose friends turning agaisnt her (not really) is what makes her bitter too, the book never specifies if the effects of the cupcake are permanent
if those two went back in time and then the present was altered because of it, would that not mean all the adults would remember meeting them back then?
i will swear up and down that Morgie is the one who did the prank. he’s the son of a very VERY powerful sorceress i couldn’t imagine it being that difficult for him to unenchant the book in order to do it, he also has a bunch of reasons to be the one to do it the main one being that he wants to be liked and respected by Uliana, it literally says it in the descendants: the world of auradon: royals and villains (though not sure how valid that one is) however you could argue that he’d get frozen too if he opened the book but 1, like i’ve said he’s the son of Morgana so if he couldn’t unenchant the book i’m sure Morgana could and then 2, maybe he’s just not down right evil like the other VKs and is only evil because he’s yk…he’s the son of a villain so he’s a villain by association and again with the whole wanting to be liked by Uliana but honestly that sounds more like a fanfiction than anything lol. it just seems like such a random exclusion to make him seem so important (he has more lines than Hades and Maleficent, and perhaps even screen time to boot) there’s so much set up to make him the big bad at the end of this entire rabbit hole that it feels as if they’re saving him for the second movie or something….
9:39 I said this SO MANY TIMES when the 2nd movie came out! Uma wanted everyone off that island FIRST then Evie saw Dizzy and then she wanted to get more kids like her off the island and at the end of the 2nd movie, she's advertised as the one who wanted all the kids off the island but then in the 3rd movie Evie says to Mal in one line "Mal, no one wanted those kids off that isle more than you!". EVIE WHAT? Mal literally didn't care and Carlos didn't even acknowledge the other kids on the isle at first either. I remember being so frustrated when I heard her say that back in 2019.
My sister pointed that out. It was so annoying. I at least appreciated them giving Uma the line "my plan" when the barrier finally came down, because yeah, it was!

Twisted Wonderland mention!! Also, I couldn’t help but find that Red, Chester, and Ace are very similar to Riddle, Trey, and Chenya. Red and Riddle are both children of unreasonably strict mothers, both mothers even have rules against sweets. Chester and Chenya are both based on the Cheshire Cat, and Trey is said to be twisted from one of the card soldiers, something Ace is turned into.
You absolutely should watch the Brandy version of Cinderella. It's basically a pantomime with a decent budget.

No I completely agree with your take on the Carlos tribute. I felt like such a dick for not liking how it was done. It felt forced, awkward, and made no sense for their characters. I watched the movie with my friend the day at came out and she liked how it was done and everyone else seemed to love the tribute, so I just thought I was the only one who was disappointed. I don't have a problem with them having one or with Uma being the one to make it, but why did she say that's what he would've wanted??? When did he specifically express that? He never had a strong stance on the issue due to only the girls being plot relevant. I feel like Uma could've named something after him on school grounds, especially cause she wasn't shown the be close with him in the movies. Or maybe when she was introducing herself as the new principal she could've unveiled a statue of him. Just spitballing, but I feel like it would've made a lot more sense than the awkward scene they went with.

When I first watched this movie I genuinely thought Ella was the one who pranked Bridgette and that’s why she says “I saw through her, everyone here is two faced and too fake” in love an’t it.
And I felt like everything in the movie just kept leading towards that. Like Ella didn’t want to go to the dance but suddenly she wants to go with Bridgette. And she seems so upset when Ella says it was a stupid prank, she seems angry in a way that made me think that she was upset because Ella was like underplaying something that she did to Bridget. And the villain kids seem like a red herring especially when red and Chloe say “well now we know who did the prank”. Ella also seems to look down on Bridgette because she’s too happy and too nice
I thought the twist was gonna be that since the book froze the VKs (and that would have happened anyway), it turns out they were never the ones to do the prank, that it was Ella, and that's why in the future she was like "It as a stupid prank" which was really dismissive of something that clearly traumatized this woman.
As for my guesses on what they changed in the past, maybe something to do with Chloe's parents? I really have no idea

I haven't watched the movie (I'm not really planning to) but I have unfortunately seen the Cursed Child in the West End (this was before JK McTerf outed herself as a complete fucking monster). And from your description, this movie is giving Cursed Child vibes. Like, that play is so infuriating because (despite the choreography and stage magic, which was genuinely impressive) it's actually TWO PLAYS, each telling HALF A STORY, so you essentially have to pay twice to get one, very long, very terrible narrative. Also, that play is all about time travel. Harry and Draco's kids go back in time to save Cedric Diggary's life (I can't remember why), and for some reason that means that the Death Eaters won the war??? So they have to go back in time again to fix things and it's just so fucking irritating

I'm so sad about D4 cos I was willing to accept all the retcons and just have a good time, and I was, but then it didn't have a proper ending (and no, no potential sequel can fix that issue) Castlecoming was an absolute MUST, there's no discussion it had to happen even if D4 is just the first act of the new trilogy. D1 had the Coronation, D2 Cottilion and D3 resolved the whole Isle of the Lost, all of these were finished movies on their own, you cannot explain away that D4 is missing its climax by saying 'but Uma said it wasn't the end' That's literally in every one of the other movies, D1 and D2 set up their sequels too and still had their climax play out properly without letting most of their main cast fall of the edge of the planet

I'm actually glad someone else isn't a massive fan of the tribute because if you're a heartless shrew, so am I. It felt like a ploy for sympathy ratings imo, like I don't mind that they continued the series but I think they needed to either find a better way to offer tribute, or not kill off the character - why couldn't he be off with the others? What happened to Cam was a tragedy and he deserves to be remembered but I don't know, I feel it would've been better to have his memory live on in his character.

The "dont be such a princess" comment was most likely Ella saying that Chloe goes through life with reckless abandon because shes a princess and she has the money and privilege to not care about things and not worry about say knocking over a vase because that object means nothing to her.

Therefore primarily blaming and hating Ella. Also Uliana might be the one to manipulate the situation further and blame Ella, and later helping Bridget become a Villain.

I actually did enjoy watching the movie (I tried to not pick apart the plotholes and continuity errors bc it would just make me hate it). I think the characters were nice and it was cute. But yeah they could’ve done so much more TT I really like your alternative endings tho and I wish they would’ve done something similar.
Also, since you know so much about Descendants I suggest looking into Ever After High. It follows the Grimm versions of fairytales and is more mystical. The rules of the world are much clearer than Descendants and I think the plots of all the specials are really good. However, the parents of the characters aren’t always super clear and doesn’t really make sense, as well as how some of the animal fairy tale characters have human kids…
in EAH is canon (or at least heavily implied) that all the animals have human forms they shapeshift into. I also think EAH makes space for confusing lore by having the world be so innately magical, these stories magically repeat themselves generation after generation and where the school is located feels like a pocket dimension of sorts, that fairytale characters are able to access while studying or after reaching their fairytales' endings. I think of it as something similar to Dimension 20's Neverafter in the matter of worldbuilding.

I would like to point out that Morgana does appear in Disney's The Sword in the Stone as that purple witch lady. But yeah, they should've totally told Merlin. If not for the time travel thing, then at least tell him that one of his students is gonna get really bullied! Your idea that Merlin should've been absent is a good one, and Ella being tricked into doing the prank is also a really good idea. It would make more sense as to why Bridget is so angry at Ella.

I know I’m a bit late on this but I would like to put my two cents on why Star Wars and Descendants were different situations.
Star Wars, by the time Carrie Fisher died, was already moving on from the OG cast. Not in a way many fans enjoyed mind you, and Disney still fully planned to include members of the og cast somehow, but it was no longer Luke, Leia, and Hans’s show. It hadn’t been for quite a while, long before any og cast members passed.
Additionally we should consider that, as far as I’m aware, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford didn’t call Disney disrespectful for continuing the movies without Carrie.
In comparison: If I recall correctly Descendants had only just barely finished it’s og trilogy when Cameron Boyce died. That means his death was very fresh when the third and final movie came out, for his family, the cast, and fans. On top of that, many OG cast members (namely BooBoo, Dove, and Sofia) either spoke out against the sequel or expressed a distaste for being in the sequel, which fans rallied behind.
It makes sense that Descendants fans would have strong feelings about a new movie and the idea that in doing so, Disney is being disrespectful to Cameron. In comparison to Star Wars where it was easier to accept.

Honestly, even if it wasn't your fault, kneeling in front of your ex best friend who was humiliated and revived severe trauma seems like the least you can do to try and make them feel better. Seems like she just wants a sense of control after it was lost to her. Not that what she's doing is okay, but with how "nice" Cinderella is supposed to be she is very cold to her ex best friend who again went through something very traumatic.

I think what annoyed me the most is that they don’t use the lore that already existed from the books and ‘wicked world’ and inventing new characters instead of using already established characters, like Genie Gothel, Anthony Tremaine, Harriet Hook, Goston the first and the second Or CJ Hook, Freddy Facilier, Ali daughter of Alice in wonderland, or Ruby daughter of Rapunzel! So many characters you can explore instead of inventing new characters!!!
I love the movie so much and think it not only adds great new main characters but also is adding what seems to be good world building to the live action screen that is. Maybe bc I’m retired from my years and years of being a lore junkie for Star Wars and since COVID I’ve needed a new franchise to hyperfixate on all of its complicated and messed up lore, I’ve stuck to Descendants lol

I honestly think makes all sense in the world for The Queen Of Hearts to not want to join Auradon as well look what happened to Queen Grimhilde (The Evil Queen) and presumably The Horned King and King Magnifico all dump into the open air prison and disinherited of there respective kingdom like why would the Queen Of Hearts want that
which does make you think - if those villains were still in power when they got thrown into the isle, then Auradon had to invade their kingdoms and do a coup to annex the lands into auradon. If not, in the case that they were dead (ie the evil queen), they literally brought back people from the dead just to torture them (and apparently also everyone who ever once even worked for them for the sheer amount of people there were at the isle?)

I loved bringing back Brandi and Paolo. I hate that they didn't do Ursula like wtf? And I found the pair of actresses they chose to be young and old queen of hearts was an odd combo... both would have been fine individually but no resemblance....
Could have been Scarlet or Ruby or a Carmine but we got Red.....
I actually see the resemblance between Rita and Ruby in their facial structure, something about their eyes and cheeks makes it work for me

22:12 I actually preferred the pacing of this movie rather than the first Descendants movie, one of my issues with it is that it was way too fast. I like a movie that gives itself time to expose the story and get us acquainted with the setting and characters, specially if they're gonna turn everything upside down as part of the main conflict. It feels like DCOMs kept getting faster and faster as the years went in (Newsies which is kinda a proto-DCOM takes its sweet time, it's 2 full hours long, HSM is a bit faster, and Descendants 1 was like everyone needed to get it over with to take the next train), I'm glad rise of red moved away from that
I have a theory that uliana perhaps made a contract with charming That tricked him into opening the book so he could have Ella to himself at Castle coming with Bridget out-of-the-way. I feel like there was a lot of context in the scene where they check the mirror and the queen of hearts is like I’m not so funny now am I
This video came out on my birthday? A little to late to wish me happy birthday though 😅 I don't find this movie disrespectful at all. The songs were enjoyable, and the characters were cool enough. I enjoy the actors' chemistry even more than the og actors, because they feel more like a family here.
