IMPORTANT TIPS: 1. You can download the OpenCore-Patcher.pkg file instead of the GUI file - OpenCore is transiting to this method but either should work for now. 2. It's best to go with a 32GB or larger flash drive unless you have to use a 16GBG. Mine was 64GB. 3. Choose the options at the boot menu quickly (or just don't let go of the option key) or the computer will autoboot on it's own. 4. Make sure you have at least 30GB of free space on your hard drive before starting the install - check after creating the bootable installer. Have fun on Sequoia! :)
Wow! Thanks so much! Best ever. Anyone have a solution for booting Sequoia first boot? Where right after language selection I get a frozen grey screen.

You've just saved my business thousands. I can't thank you enough. Wow. Even for a 51 year old dude, I managed it and works a treat. Seriously, my next trip out was to buy two new 27 inch macs.... Thank you
You saved me an $1500 upgrade from my Late 2015 27" iMAC, to a new Mac, on the worst time ever! for this expense! I had to reinstall everything, Which took me a few hours, But it looks the same now, And I can update my apps to their latest version. 😘 Thanks!
Unbelievable! This is the first time ever a step-by-step TH-cam tutorial matched exactly to the actually process. The only difference was at the last few steps where he says you don't have to do anything while your system reboots two or three times and to just be patient. In my case, if you have a screen password, you have to enter it each time. But, that's it. This tutorial is perfect, detailed, and easy to follow for anyone (I'm 62) and it actually works! Anson has an amazing speaking voice with an exceptional talent at relaying the information succinctly. All of the on-screen prompts matched exactly, no surprises.
This project started when I bought my kid the new Touch ID keyboard for her 2012 iMac. Touch ID didn’t work. Learned Touch ID only works with silicon Mac’s. Then learned the volume buttons on the keyboard didn’t work unless you have Sonoma. Then ordered a 2019 iMac i5 with 8GB of ram from Amazon. 3 days later, received a 27 inch 2017 iMac i7 with 64GB ram and 2TB ssd drive. A few years older but specs are way better. Ventura was the highest it would go and the keyboard buttons still didn’t work. Found this video and got an error on the usb build with a Samsung flash drive. Tried another flash drive and it worked. Now on Sequoia and the Touch ID keyboard is working. *I didn’t do a fresh install, I installed over Ventura. So far so good. Much love from Colorado
You are a living legend, Anson! Your guide just saved me a ton of money. I'm a freelance journalist, and I was beginning to save up for a completely new iMac because my 2017 27" was "stuck" on supported macOS 12.7.6. But thanks to your guide, my iMac now runs Sequoia 15.01, just like my much newer MacBook. The installation got stuck at 28 minutes the first time I tried, but I rebooted, and then everything went so smoothly! The iMac might be a little slow on startup now, but that's it! Once again, thank you so, so much!
I have to say this has got to be one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. You just saved me $1000 from having to go buy another Mac to do my taxes. You’re the man!
My old 2012 Macbook pro still firing thanks to this wonderful tutorial! Just remember to do the 'Post Install Root Patch' otherwise your computer may run very slow.
I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro, and despite watching the video I'm not sure how to do this exactly.. I don't want to screw up the only Apple device I currently have linked to my apple account... I'm not very tech savvy, although I use to be. The last time I used a Mac computer was 2011 in my senior year of high school.
@@misscorky Gotcha, to ultra-avoid any risk, if I were you; I would buy a small 120GB SSD SATA (10 bucks for a second handed in ebay), remove your current SSD and put the clean-blank SSD and run a clean Sierra/High Sierra/Catalina install... then upgrade to Sequoia with this tutorial. If anything goes wrong just put back your original SSD... You are 10 bucks (and 2hrs of your time) away to see if you can upgrade to Sequoia 💪🏻 Greetings from Monterrey Mexico.
I wanted to congratulate you on the quality of your video: precision, seriousness, pedagogy are there. Great art!!! Few videos of this type are at this (high) level. I laboriously translated your entire comment (I'm a frenchie...), I watched the video several times and I embarked on this adventure which lasted part of the night to bring everything up to date (updates, ...). I now have an external SSD that boots on Sequoia. After studying the "clean" update, I plan to install all of this on my internal drive. Bravo again and many thanks !!!
Amazing tutorial! My wife got herself a new iMac M4, and I took her old MacBook Pro from 2015. I installed Sequoia on it without any problems using your tutorial here. Everything works great on this 10-year-old MacBook! Of course, it's not as fast as the M4, but hey, for everyday work, internet browsing, and even making music in Logic or Ableton, it's perfect. Thank you!!
Thank you for the tutorial. The installation went smoothly on my macbook pro 2012. Surprisingly Sequoia runs smoother than Catalina from freaking 12 years ago. 😱
What can I say, a perfect upgrade guide. Followed it to the letter any my 2014 iMac is now running Sequoia without any apparent problems. Took me an hour start to finish. Thanks.
@@ColoCulture not really. Office 365 was really slow on 15.1 but 15.2 seems to have cured that. All the Mac stuff (that doesn't need a silicon processor) works just fine.
You just saved me 1300 Euros. Thank you so much, it works like a charm on my MacBook Pro Retina 2015. Sure, the apps start a bit slow sometimes, but that's alright I guess :) Im using the Macbook for Safari, Notes and Mail only so that's fine.
I normally never comment on anything in TH-cam, but I think that this is worth sharing. I am completely stunned, flabbergasted and extremely happy. I upgraded my unsupported Mac mini 3,1 from 2009 (!) to MacOS Sequoia yesterday and it is working! Sure - not everything is running smoothly and fast, but seriously? What do you expect from an old lady. I tried to upgrade to Sonoma before that, but that did not work at all. My "Macci" has issues rebooting - I knew that for some time. So when rebooting it just shut down on me or showed me an error message. At first I was very doubtful if I should take the step to Sequoia, never thought that it would work. I worked with Monterey for at least two years and before that Catalina. Anyways, I am happy and hope that it will continue working until I have the money to get my dream Mac mini M2. Thank you, Anson, for all you are doing! 🙂
@@TheSadistNat1on it depends on how you instal it. I did not touch the internal harddrive. I have my ElCapitan on there. So it should keep all your files. But you should always make a backup before doing any upgrade anyway. Itś very easy to get something wrong. And then all your stuff is gone. For example: years ago I upgraded my little Maccie from ElCapitan to Catalina and accidentally killed my internal harddrive... so I had to run the OS completely from my external SSD, because.. well, Maccie could not boot anymore... But I was able to ressurrect the internal HD and now Maccie is running on Sequoia through the external SSD and when I plug it out it still boots from to The Captain. :-) Hope that answered your question.
@@rolandsequeira Yes, yes, yes! I am saving for it. The coolest thing is that I can easily live with the cheapest one even though I am into Music Production! So happy I can`t tell you.
I used the v2.2.0 of the OpenCore Legacy Patcher and it recognizes when I updated to 15.3 and asked me if I wanted to run. So really nice that runs automatically. Great video.
Excellent video from a long time Windows user, completely new to Mac. Just updated my 2015 Macbook Pro Retina 13in Big Sur Mac OS to Mac OS Sequoia. Followed your instruction and the process went without a hitch. Excellent video.
Very good! I discovered this video through my bf who wanted to help me “fix” my MacBook & I wanted to tell you it worked! Went from High Sierra on a MacBook Pro late ‘11 to 15.2 Sequoia ❤ this is amazing!!!!
I'm very grateful for your help with this. I updated my MacBook Pro early 2013 which I was motivated to do after finding out that Apple were not interested in an exchange if I bought a new model and a recent visit to the local recycling centre where I saw a mountain of discarded electronics. I found the update to be much slower than expected, but this could have been the quality of my USB stick, so overall about 3 hours or so. I also realised near the end that I was installing 2.2.0, where as this instruction was for possibly 2.0.1. I think the difference resulted in a slightly different appearance of the process towards the end in the root patch part, but I got there eventually and all is working well. I've no doubt a new MacBook would be much faster in responding to mouse clicks, but I couldn't justify the expense when this option was available. Many thanks.
MacMini Late 2012 MacMini 6,2 Went from 10.15.7 to Sequoia 15.1 in one mighty leap, clean install method. Followed Anson’s steps. Had one hiccup in the OS install when it gave an 🍏 Unsupported OS scary error. I had to OK then exited, it restarted by itself and just carried on. I probably had 6 reboots, some with the drive option screen but it auto-selected. They all had some REL text bottom right hand corner that suggested it was OCLP screen rather than an 🍏 screen. At 9:13 had a scary moment when, USB removed, it restarted to the folder/? screen of death. I powered down then re-powered up the MM and used Option key to select EFI. Thereafter it has behaved itself. Well done and thanks Anson from the workers paradise that is Birmingham, 🇬🇧 UK.
Notes 24hrs later: . TV app crashes if I play my own mp4 or m4v films, so I had to update Open With commands to open in QT. Not a big deal. I solved the TV app crashing by deleting the TV folder in home/movies/tv and I had to whack TV related pref files in Library. . I lost my iTunes library stars and playlists. And the move I made I think was too big for the iTunes xml files to work, Catalina->Sequoia. . I wish I’d made a note of my email passwords (in Keychain) but luckily I have an older MBA (High Sierra) not yet updated so I was able to use them. Other than that, all good. Now I have to decide to update to 15.1.1 which just came out…I’ll wait a day or so and see what Anson & Co pronounce.
OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!! I DID IT!!! Thank you sooooooo much for making this video!! It was a major trust the process for me. I have a 2012 Mac and know nothing about how computers work, BUT I am really good at following directions. Your instructions are really clear and to the point! I can’t afford getting another computer so Thank you for helping me stick it to the “man”!!!
Thanks! 6:50 The error I got was after agreeing to the license. When I choose the SSD, which I have previously erased, I get this error: “An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again.” Do you guys have any advice? Thanks

This weekend I upgraded my aging 2016 MacBook Pro to Sequoia, encouraged by this guide. I had been running Monterey for quite a long time, which was fine until I wanted to do some development for my iPad and discovered that it had updated to a version of iOS beyond what Xcode on Monterey supports. Now with Sequoia I can run the latest Xcode again and I have to say, everything is running about as well as you can expect from a first-gen Skylake MacBook. I decided to update to Sequoia in-place without erasing my hard drive and that went pretty smoothly; the only caveat being that I had to pay attention to the reboots during the installation process, otherwise it would auto-boot into the USB installer again.
OMG, I was about to literally bin my 2016 Macbook Pro 16" because the new FCXP would not install on it as I could not update to current OSX. It now has Sequoia running on it and FCPX current version 10.8.1. Tested some projects and all works very well. I always new about OCLP but never bothered with it until now. Thanks for the very easy to follow instructions. Champion!
I did the upgrade on my 2011 mbp. Runs like a champ. Your videos seem so much easier to follow than the others. I am not tech savvy, I upgraded the memory and put in a solid state driver , my mac is cruising now. Thanks

Thanks so much for your video Anson. I was able to update my iMac 21.5 inch late 2013 without much issue. I bought my iMac second hand a few months ago for only a couple of hundred pounds and this has refreshed it without me having to spend anything. Your walkthrough was very easy to follow. I have a Cricut machine and while it did work on Catalina it is technically not compatible. I wanted to update so I could use my Cricut without compatibility issues. I decided to update to Ventura 13.7.3 instead of going straight from Catalina to Sequoia. The only issue I encountered was during the first reboot. I was stuck in a loop of restarting and it wouldn't bring up the boot menu. I worked out through googling that it was the timing of pressing the option key. It worked when I pressed it just after the sound rather than as soon as the screen went black. I saw some comments of others having this issue so hopefully this helps.
Followed the steps and now my 2017 MacBook Pro is running Sequoia when the last update I could get was Ventura. Worked super well for me. Love having the screen mirroring and the passwords app that syncs with my iPhone! Great way to extend the life of my computer as it is still in excellent shape

For those who are contemplating a "clean install" option (from 5:44), I have a few pointers. Before you wipe out your hard drive , make sure to logout from your AppleID so your device won't go "missing". For MacBook users, your wireless connection may not work right away (along with laggy and ugly graphics display) until you update the drivers with the root patches, so you should copy the "OpenCore Legacy Patcher" app on some USB drive to patch your MacBook off-line. Otherwise, you have to download/troubleshoot using wired Ethernet, so a thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter is handy. With a few detours, I successfully upgraded MacBook Pro 2015 Retina from Monterey 12.7.6 to Sequoia 15.2 with the help of this video. :)
thx for the advices, wlan didnt work, ssd got wiped out and installation failed and now i cant login into apple id anymore. so i guess i my device got missing.any idea how to fix that problem? apple id keeps freezing.
@@djl.a.6805 Without WLAN, you need direct connection to LAN to recover/reinstall your Macbook using the Internet. Depending on model, you may need a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter and/or USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Good luck!
Hey guys! I just wanted to thank Anson. The installation on my MacBook Air 2015 went smoothly. I only encountered one issue when I rebooted after ejecting the USB, but it corrected itself. Everything seemed to be working even before applying the patch. Thank you so much!
i wanna thank you so much it worked on my 2015 macbook pro although it took long just to jump from monterey to sequoia. its good tbh thank you so much fir this useful guide
Very happy I referred back to this video. A friend of mine had me do this unsupported sequoia install 2 months ago and I told them not to update unless I did it for them. Well they did an update, initially everything went well but when it restarted it lost the graphics sound and networking drivers. The machine has an ssd but you would have thought it had a mechanical hard drive based on how slow it ran. I ran the open core post install patcher and they are now back in business phew thought it was going to be a difficult process but it was fine
Ansin thank you for this great way to renew old MacBooks. I’ve got 2011 17” and it is like new. I’m planning on replacing the hard drive and installing 16 gigs of ram. I used to use this laptop for editing photos. The screens resolution is as good as it gets. I have Ventura as my last update. As you know Apple stopped supporting this yrs ago. Makes me made that Apple products are not supported longer than they do. I’ve always said they should put expiration dates on their electronics. I use Photoshop for editing and my laptop cannot run the latest version. If I up grade the operating platform after replacing hard drive with a SSD and upgrade ram with my laptop then run the latest Adobe software.
Just a small doubt what should i do when i see the boot up menu again after presssing reboot option on 8:29? Should i just leave it or do something on the next boot up menu?
Dude I’m definitely donating to the open core, and you got a sub from me I’ll be telling all my friends and family about the update ty sir your a lifesaver!
Wow! Great tutorial! Last time I did this update with Sonoma I had to turn off system integrity and do a bunch of stuff that made my computer run buggy. Even after restoring it to factory settings it still behaved weird. This is on a Mac Pro 2013 with 64GB, 12 Core, 1TB SSD and dual D700 Graphics. I bought a second one for render farming and changed both to a 10 core. The second one was noticeably snappier so I performed a migrate assistant backup and made it my main computer. After this update I noticed a significant improvement in performance. During the patcher I noticed a network and graphics card patch. So my super old graphics cards are now optimized. I even did a black magic disk drive speed test and was shocked to see it reach 1400MB/s for both read and write! Previously I was getting 800-900 on both! I was even contemplating buying NVME drives and dishing $300 for both. My internet speeds are faster! Read and write speeds are faster! Performance is snappier! UI is beautiful! Temperatures are lower! Sequoia has brought life back to my trash can! Thank you!
Followed all the steps until the menu with "disk utility", erased my hard drive, and clicked install senoia, download completes but then it just reboots back to that same menu with "disk utility" and stays there. Any advice on what to do if this happens? help greatly appreciated!
I turned my 2014 macbook pro off after the install and when I went to turn it on a few days later it didn't want to start up. Completely gone! Ended up holding down the option key when starting up and then there was an option to boot up with the new drive name. Any way around this? Or do I have to boot up every time this way?
After selecting "Install macOS Sequoia" from the boot menu I got a black background with an apple and a progressbar not mowing and the menu containing "Restore from time machine, Install macOS Sequoia" etc. never shows on my iMac 2009. Did I miss something?

@@naimrashid3908 You don't have to pay anyone. That's why the entire video is there. The first time I tried, I screwed up everything. I had to reinstall from my back up harddrive the old El Capitan. Instead of going guns blazing to OS Sequoia. I first installed MacOS Sonoma. Once all the newer drivers are downloaded and copied in the main drive. It's much easier to work on MacOS Sequoia. I wish someone had told me that before. Make sure you have an empty hard drive (32 gb) handy to work with. I had 2 USB drives. I worked with Sonoma on one. Once everything worked I made a back up on my time machine (Just in case anything went wrong with Sequoia). Opened Open Core Legacy Patcher (OCLP) again and followed the same steps for MacOS Sequoia and it just worked flawlessly. I hope this helps you with your update. Have patience. Hello! I have the same Mac and I was thinking of updating from Monterey. Is there any issues or unavailable features like the other comments mentioned?
Thanks for the easy walk through. I have a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro that is in perfect condition. In the spring I used the Patcher to install the previous version of MacOS overtop the very old, supported version of MacOS and it was very buggy. My MacBook had fans running constantly, flickering screens, constant hard reboots. It was to the point that I was looking into buying a new M4 MacBook Pro. I saw your video and thought I would give it one more try. This time I did a clean install, so I reformatted the drive and within an hour, I had the new OS running and everything is silky smooth again. After 3 days of many sleep/awake cycles (something that would require hard reboots before) now just work. No flickering. No high CPU loads or fan noise or high temps on my lap. Just like a new mac. I have VMWare installed running Windows 10. I have Rider installed. Office 365. RDP. XCode. VPN with Wireguard. Everything is working great. After 3 days, it seems I do not need to buy a new M4 mac, this is working great! My recommendation, do a clean install and then re-install your apps. So worth it. Thanks again.
2015 MacBook Pro 13" failed. Followed steps exactly and everything seems to be going OK then after a couple of reboots the Mac reboots into the Recovery screen giving options to Restore from Time Machine, Install macOS Sequoia, Safari or Disk Utility. Only option I have here is Install macOS Sequoia which after about 10-15 minutes just leads me back to this Recovery screen. Have reformatted the machine, installed Ventura, redownloaded the GUI utility, redownloaded Sequoia, recreated the USB drive but all to no avail and after a day of trying I'm back at the Recovery screen! 🤷🏻♂
This is the best step by step explanation for someone that wants to get it done right the first time. Taking your advice, I was able to revitalize my late 2013 iMac 27" with Sequoia. I also updated my storage with a 1TB NVME drive, a i7 Quad Core processor and 32GB of RAM. Many thanks Mr. Alexander. QUESTION: If you have any insight as to why I cannot access my old 1TB 7200 spinner hard drive, I'd appreciate it. I'm leaving it connected in the computer because of the fan temperature sensor issue.
I have followed this video twice with no luck. When is goes to boot up I get the circle with the slash thru it and the apple help address. I am running a late 2012 mini Mac Model Identifier: Macmini6,1 Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Core i5 Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz Both times I did not reformat the hard drive. Would that prevent the upgrade from working? Should I try it again but this time reformat the hard drive ? Should I try downloading one of the older OS available on Open core? Looking for suggestions and any help on this Thanks Tom B.
thanks to you Anson I've managed to get Sequoia running and fix the corrupted Sonoma half-cooked version I was running, much appreciated and the OCLP team a great Xmas present
Hi, nice video, but I had some problems with the installation, once I chose "EFI BOOT" and after "INSTALL SEQUOIA" once the loading was finished it doesn't detect any input and gives me the screen with the instructions for connecting the mouse I also tried with a USB mouse but it doesn't recognize it. I have a 2009 MacBook
Have you figured out what is going wrong? I heard about that problem before I took the step to Sequoia. When you look at the video from Mr. Macintosh about installing Sonoma on unsupported Mac he is saying that you should get a USB 3.something hub for your mouse and keyboard. I don't know if that might fix your problem. I have a Mac mini 3,1 late 2009 and with the USB hub everything is working fine for now.
I just figured it out now. Is it okay if I disconnected the drive to put the hub while in the reboot process? I saw the instructions but ignore it since it didn't mention about it in the video 😭
Hello everyone, I recently attempted to download and install the latest macOS on my old MacBook Pro late 2016 15inch (4 thunderbolts). While the installation process went smoothly, I am now encountering issues with iServices. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? If so, were you able to find a solution? Great video Anson, thank you! I recently added Sequoia to a MacBook Pro 2012. It worked well on the install. My issue is more with the apps than the install. Installed on my late 2013 13” MacBook Pro as well. Thank you!! I’ve been messing with a lot of operating systems on this poor thing. I’ve had it for over a decade and it still works like brand new. And now it’s even on the latest version of macOS. 😄💀
Worked perfectly for MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013), 1.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7, 8 GB Ram, MacBookAir6,2, macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 with OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher 2.2.0 to Sequoia 15.2. For now it seems more responsive than Big Sur 11.7.10. May God bless Anson Alexander for clear instructions without superfluous speaking, concise just what was needed to be said without music distractions ect.
Another comment here to thank you for the incredible step by step guide, just installed on my late 2014 mac mini. One step i had to re-do a couple of times was the reboot, not sure whether this was becase i was using an external HDD rather than a flash drive, but got there in the end, thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video! I did this on my 2012 Mac Mini. It upgraded to Sequoia without a hitch. Very informative video, and easy to follow. I'll get a few more years of use from my Mini before I need to upgrade.
Wow 🤩 after about 8 hours of letting it do its think and a small issue I experienced, I’m finally running mac os ventura on my MacBook Pro mid 2010 15 inch 🎊 🎉
Huge thank you for this! I was unable to use the newest version of Logic Pro on my 2017 iMac, until now! Did a fresh install and it's actually faster than Sonoma was.
My 2013 MacBook Air still works great, I just could not do certain things like install Teams for a job interviews as I could not upgrade OS. I was so scared to be downloading anything and messing around with my computer but I really didn’t want to have to buy a new one. I followed this tutorial exactly, it took about 3 hours in total, but it was screen for screen and click for click what the actual process I went though was, aside from having to enter my own password and certain stages. I could successfully install teams wkth sequoia macOS. So worth it!!
Hello Anson! I have been contemplating on upgrading my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012) to whatever is the latest macOS for a long time. I only did it right now for macOS Sequoia 15.2! I followed each step carefully and IT WORKED! The only problem I encountered is the painfully slow download speeds (not OCLP’s fault it’s AT&T Wi-Fi being crappy sometimes). Otherwise I have fully setup and organized my full refreshed MacBook Pro! I can’t wait to upgrade my MacBook to future OS versions! Thank you very much for showing us these careful and detailed steps! You just a new sub! Have a great day!
IMPORTANT TIPS:

How are things at this point? Just installed sequoia on a 2017 i7 iMac 27’. Seems ok so far

oi mate. does it keep all of your stuff that you had on the computer itself too? doesnt factory reset it?
did u need a flash drive to do it?

Went from 10.15.7 to Sequoia 15.1 in one mighty leap, clean install method.
Notes 24hrs later:

This is very important step - you need to be aware that you have to switch to macOS installer in boot menu!
OMG, I was about to literally bin my 2016 Macbook Pro 16" because the new FCXP would not install on it as I could not update to current OSX.

Nothing can go wrong as long as you have a back up on your external HDD or SSD.
@@naimrashid3908 also sometimes it can take 3 -4 attempts
Can i use this guide as a totally new user ? i havent tryed opencore before so i just wanna know if i can start here or i need to see an older video of yours first.
Hello, it installed for me without any manipulation with the pendrive, the first time it showed an error, but I tried again and everything went normally :) MacBook Pro 13" 8/128GB 2015
Great to hear! Thanks for reporting back and well done being patient and sticking with the installer you made.
@@AnsonAlexanderI have previously installed Sonoma 14.6.1 according to the instructions you provided :) I installed it on September 15, 2024
I have the same issue with MacBook Pro 14,1 (2017)
Same here
Same. And the instructions are so clear and everything worked until I got to the reboot. I want it to work so bad!
@@kenmmcnattany updates? Did it install??? Im on mini 2012 from High Sierra
@@christiandietlmeier6721 hey did you ever fix it?
I am running a late 2012 mini Mac
Model Identifier: Macmini6,1
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
Both times I did not reformat the hard drive. Would that prevent the upgrade from working? Should I try it again but this time reformat the hard drive ?
Should I try downloading one of the older OS available on Open core?
Looking for suggestions and any help on this
Thanks
Tom B.
Took me a total of 2.5 hours just loads up took ages but it’s done and I’m so great full thank you so much LEGEND 👏🏼👏🏼
did u need a flash drive to do it?
@ used a 32gb usb stick
thank you so much it really helped me
You're welcome, glad to help!
This is brilliant, Thank you! I was about to purchase a new Mac but decided to give this a go on my late 2012 iMac 27". It worked a treat.
Thank you so much !!!!
You're welcome!
thanks to you Anson I've managed to get Sequoia running and fix the corrupted Sonoma half-cooked version I was running, much appreciated and the OCLP team a great Xmas present
@@amirahrashiqah8859 oh! I honestly do not know. Did it work?
You are great. I tried this on my Early 2015 MacBook Pro 13inch. It worked well and working smoothly. Thank you for giving a right process.
Hello everyone,
I recently attempted to download and install the latest macOS on my old MacBook Pro late 2016 15inch (4 thunderbolts). While the installation process went smoothly, I am now encountering issues with iServices. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? If so, were you able to find a solution?
Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
When you say iServices, you mean like iCloud and iPhoto and stuff? What issues are you having? Have you tried logging out and back in to your iCloud account. My iCloud services are all working normally on the 2013 Macbook Pro.
@@AnsonAlexander My Apple ID is working, and so are services like photo synchronization, email, and calendar. However, several apps like Messages, FaceTime, and Contacts are not working. These apps simply won’t open, and after force quitting them, I get the option to send a report to Apple. This situation is frustrating. I’d be interested in seeing a video from you where you, as the video creator, solve this problem comprehensively and officially. Thank you all.
@@steckworknonstop I was able to solve the problem of them not opening by creating a new user with no iCloud account. So, I went back and erased the drive and reinstalled Sequoia via OCLP. Then I signed back in and Messages, FaceTime, and Contacts would open and sync (very slowly). But, I could not send new Messages etc. This is not related to your issue per se: but I discovered that my VPN will not work with Messages. It's fine for everything except Messages, FaceTime, and Contacts. I have to disable it temporarily to get them to go through.
I had the same issue. I end up removing the device. On iPhone go to settings. Click on your name. Scroll down until you see your device. You can also go here. account.apple.com
I removed the devices and started the install again. It allow enough time for apple refresh hardware. I also removed the device then waited ten minutes was able to sign into iCloud. Something seems to get funky on the back end with apple.
@@steckworknonstop Hi, i have the same issue on MacBook Pro 2016 13'. Have you managed to fix this problem? Cheers!
I happen to have run into your video today, I was thinking of upgrading my mid 2017 iMac because I didn't like the fact that I couldn't run the latest OS. Coincidence? I think NOT! Thank you so much for your time and effort into these videos. It really was a foolproof step-by-step! A little late to the party, but finally made it!
Does it faster then before as when I update my Mac 2017i7 it gets slower with each update
I’m doing my 2017 IMac right now now, can’t wait!
What abt future security updates? Would it be a problem?
You'll be able to perform incremental updates with OpenCore almost immediately after they're released by Apple.
whooo hooooo, it worked.. Thank you so much for this man.. Wow, this is outstanding.. I just did 2 Mac's and dude, outstanding..
Hi, everything works but everytime when I start imac first show the disk and then start. Please can somebody expleain me how to set to start directly when I switch on? thanks in advance
Open open core legacy patcher, go to seeting disable boot select then rebuild and install to disk that's all
I have the same problem.
Can you explain exatly ?
Great video Anson, thank you! I recently added Sequoia to a MacBook Pro 2012. It worked well on the install. My issue is more with the apps than the install. I’m a video guy and adobe calls for certain hardware only found in newer macs for after effects and premiere. So the older macs don’t support installing 2025 after effects and 2025 Premiere Pro. Other than that, it’s been great so far. I have a dual hard drive setup. One with the latest supported version of osx for the 2012 and the other with sequoia. It’s the best of both worlds
I upgraded from MacBook Pro 13inch (mid 2012) to the sequoia version 15 . Thanks loads you’re awesome everything as you said it. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤝🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽appreciate it loads man
Worked perfectly for my iMac 2017,
Directions were simple enough even for someone like me who’s not a tech savvy person,; thank you for such a great video !
I did it on my new old mac mini late 2014, all the steps were exactly same as the video! Man you are awesome!!!
I’ve Mac 2017ventura ! Thanks very clear explanation and that works , but i didn’t erase hard disco cuz i install some software i need ! May i ask how can install updated and install my software been on Ventura!
I build Hackintosh Macs and let me tell you, it used to be a pain to gather every single Kext manually and use a bunch of software to get this things to work. These developers deserve a nice tip.
Thanks. Has worked like a charm. You’ve gained a subscriber today
Worked like a charm. One suggestion for users: watch Anson's whole video (twice) before you start. I was running Big Sur 11.7 on my 15-inch Retina Late 2013 Mackbook Pro when I started. Following your advice, updated to Sonoma, and then did a clean install of Sequoia. Finally, after doing all the root patches, I migrated my files and apps from my backup, updated all my Adobe and Microsoft apps and - voila! - am running smooth as silk! Thanks!
You are such a genius, I just gave another life to my MacBook Pro 2012, and is running faster with sequoia than with Catalina, 5 stars tutorial, thank you 🙏🏾
Thank you so much It worked flawlessly and the process went as sooth as it could go.
Just installed on my 2013 IMac, works like a treat! (Took five hours, but certainly worth it), now I can update all my Office 365 apps! Thank you so much much!
Never got the popup for 'Installing additional components' @8:33 , went ahead and installed the root patches thought, seems fine so far.
Got our late 2011 MBP (upgraded 16gb ram and 1Tb SSD) updated from Catalina to sequoia, got a couple errors and boot loading issues on the restarts where it loaded a boot camp version of win7 but not sure what I did to get it finally into sequoia. We hardly use the laptop other than to back up pictures, phone images and do our taxes, this year H&R Block software needed OS12. Def gave new life to this old laptop, thanks for the video. I did need a 32gb flash drive didn’t recognize a 16gb.
Thanks
Installed on my late 2013 13” MacBook Pro as well. Thank you!! I’ve been messing with a lot of operating systems on this poor thing. I’ve had it for over a decade and it still works like brand new. And now it’s even on the latest version of macOS. 😄💀
I did this with my mid 2015 MacBook Pro and it worked flawlessly it feels new again! Thank you for this video!
Mate you deserve a thumbs never thought that someone could make this easy of a tutorial
As soon as I finish getting the dust off my 2012 Mac Mini, I can enjoy it again. Thank you!
Wow 🤩 after about 8 hours of letting it do its think and a small issue I experienced, I’m finally running mac os ventura on my MacBook Pro mid 2010 15 inch 🎊 🎉
What do you mean do its thing? Did you get errors?
Im getting a few “ error occurred “ pop up on my install.
It worked very well for me for my MacBook Pro 2017, thank you so much.
You are a genius man. Done upgrading my MacBook Air 2017
This is the best video that I’ve seen about this matter.
Thanks man! I just upgraded my monterey 12.7.6 to Sequoia 15.3 as now it's working perfectly fine
