Same addiction here, the best way to desexualize our minds is to replace the idea of people as sexual objects, to pure beings who were made in the image of God and who have a purpose in life. Fighting temptation is useless because our flesh is weak, we need to change our mindset by genuinely believing Christ's words and we won't even feel attraction to sin

it's in your power. just dont do it. the only reason you go back is to escape your feelings of loneliness. or to escape from a life that you dont enjoy. if you have girls to see , you wont care to do it. it's just a drug that releases dopamine, gives you a high and then crashes you with low self esteem and anxiety. you gotta workout regularly and talk to more girls. if you do that then youll be gettign laid and wont need to jerk off. you have to start by controling your thoughts and not give attention to the porn scenes in your head. you gotta switch the thinking asap. you only go back to it because youre thinking about it. if you remove the thoughts and let them pass, you wont do it. rememeber, every time you do it, youre making a conscious (yet impulsive) decision. you have to just say no, and do something else. it's the only way. the only way to not do something is to not do something. and the only way to get your life together in other areas is to take action on those other things. comes down to habits. make a daily habit everyday of talking to women and working out. if you do that the chances of falling back into it will be lessened. if you dont do that, then you just fall back into it. you're only a thought a way from doing it again. i suggest going 100 days without pron or masturbation to get your mind right. then start socializing with more women on a daily/weekly basis. i bet if you do that and are getting laid regularly . you wont wanna go back.

One day the lightbulb came on and I realized that I wasn't putting any plan into action. I wasn't formulating concrete steps to avoid porn. If you want to “quit” and just can’t seem to, you need to realize you can’t on your own. You need some divine intervention to help you out of it. So pray for it every day. Every time you catch yourself in temptation, say a prayer to the Holy Spirit. Ask Mary, St. Joesph, and St. Michael to protect and pray for you. Get rid of social media if it’s what causes you to fall into temptation. And for God’s sake, stop looking at women you see out in the world as objects because they are your sisters in Christ, even if they don’t dress like it.

So many people think that they have to replace with having a partner. Not for me. I’m still single. I replaced it with being obsessed with studying, being proactive, building my desk setup, having a good housekeeping routine, being organized in my room, in my car, being punctual to work, being good at my job, steadily taking classes at my city college and getting good grades, saving my money, being organized with my digital documents, improving on my piano pieces, improving my typing, learning and studying on my Anki. I’ve replaced my alcohol addiction and PMO addiction with all that stuff. The rest of the dating stuff will figure itself out. I’ve become fulfilled in my own routines and projects, and find personal enjoyment in doing those things and living an honest life, a clean life where I have nothing to hide. I’m preparing myself for when I do meet someone. If I never do, I’m okay with that.

It's incredibly sad to see people justify their own addictions in the comments. That's the difference between the content sinner and the repentant sinner. The repentant sinner understands he needs help and pursues remedial avenues. The content sinner either suppresses the shame so that he doesn't have to deal w/ the discomfort within, or he simply lies to himself and perpetuates an ever-growing snowball that'll eventually destroy him and potentially others who are close to him (e.g. family). Pray for everyone who's still lost in the dark. We were not designed to dehumanize others by treating them as sexual objects to gratify our lust. And all you have to do, in my opinion, to realize that truth is by thinking hypothetically about how you would feel, truly feel, if you knew your mom, sister, or god forbid daughter, were involved with porn. Innately, we would all react with revulsion.

I'm 28 now and haven't been using corn for more than 6 months, I already feel much better than I did before but I still have a long way to go to find my inner peace.

The interest comes and goes. I views far more when I was younger. And loved it. Never thought of quitting. Annoyed me whenever anyone had even suggested that there was something wrong with it. Still does today. Thought I view far less than I did. At times, I may go months without seeing any. And when I do view any, is because I want to. I'm not trying to quit, just not as interested in it anymore.
Did I mention that it annoys me whenever anyone suggests that there is something wrong with viewing it.
I will admit. It can be a damaging addiction to some. Just like anything that can be addicting. Sugar. You need it, to some extent. Your brain for one uses a lot of it, if you are a thinker type of person. But it is addicting, and bad if over used. But it's not bad in of itself. People just need to take such things in moderation.
Some things that can be addictive, should not be taken at all. Such as alcohol and cigarettes. Though some say alcohol is OK in moderation. Is said one glass of red wine with diner, can be quite healthy. Though, some will still disagree.
As for cigarettes. That is one thing I don't feel anyone can say is something good to have, even most long time smokers will agree is is bad for you.
If this topic was about cigarettes. I'd be behind this all the way. But seeing it's about porn, something I enjoy, from time to time, it annoys me with how some obsess over telling others that you should quit it, as something bad to be doing.
It's a very subjective opinion. When you go looking at just how many porn sites there are, and how many users there are, and how many view it per week, out of what they can manage to count, it's a lot. And if you view some of the comment sections, you will find, many tend to enjoy it, each in their own ways.
And there you have it. On porn being bad, I agree to disagree.

It's true that you have to pray much to get off it, but what's not mentioned is that you also have to cooperate with the graces given through the prayer. It comes down to willingness to suffer. I think the only real way to cooperate, and get off of it completely is to decisively get rid of every avenue you would have to watch it again, and also harness a tremendous amount of courage and strength to resist the urges that will 100% follow for awhile. It needs an act of the will to say "I'd be willing to die, and even be tortured to death than ever watch even the smallest instant of this again......for love of you, Jesus" while really and truly meaning those words. Then, you forcefully avoid it when your appetites erupt again and tell you that you need it (they do eventually subside). You also need to be prepared for the new life you're going to have afterwards without it, and the freedom you're going to have, and the healing you're going to need. Those images are in your imagination and apart from a special grace they're going to stay there even while living a completely chaste life which is one (only one) of the reasons it's so destructive.

This interviewer is marvellous. I really like the way that he tries to pull Jordan, in a friendly manner, into answering the questions logically, pulling through some of their esoteric nature.
That being said, he is providing slightly too many 'backchannels' in linguistic terms, while the other person is talking. Slightly too much smiling and nodding, and "yes" and "uh-huhs". While this, if natural, gives the impression that on is listening closely, when it is performed to excess it gives the impression that one is concerned with *appearing* as though they are listening, as opposed to genuinely listening
This is certainly a matter of taste, and only the interviewer themselves will be able to know if this mirrors their conscious experience, and whether they are genuinely listening, or trying to appear as though they are listening.
    Keep up the great work!

I agree that the fear of the Lord is a wonderful gift and great motivator to quit bad habits. However, the love of Jesus Christ is so great and glorious, that once you experience it and seek to open your heart to him habitually, you gradually won't want to sin anymore. You will only want God's love and will not want to be separated from it. His love is what saves. I would just caution judging people as perverted or disgusting for their habits- certainly nobody wants to be seen as a perverted creepy uncle, but this isn't always motivating enough for people to change. Change happens in the present, constantly, and the past is the past. The Lord should be feared, but fear of his omnipotence and the punishment we face, in my opinion, is the wrong sole reason we ought to follow his law. It is okay to be firm and tough, with a patient love. I believe this is what will ultimately encourage our brothers and sisters who are struggling to seek out God and eventually be delivered from their sins... rather than trying to quit in order to save, preserve, repair, or defend their self-image. I don't know, just my thoughts.

I think that happens naturally when you fix the root issue, but that's not how you fix the addiction. All addiction comes from a source of pain, a bad relationship, bad parents, being bullied, trauma, difficulty at work - whatever it may be. I was never an alcoholic or had trouble with alcohol, however I stopped consuming it because for some reason my body stopped being able to tolerate it. Just one drink was enough to make me feel dizzy and nauseous and give me a headache, so I don't drink it and haven't in years. And I will say that as a result of that, I developed a certain mindset that really values sobriety. Like I really really value being sober, so I avoid anything that is mind altering, and I feel like there's a great deal of self respect that comes with that. I don't know how to explain it. It's almost like a form of self love, and then I pity people who feel like they need to turn to that, especially those who feel like they have to go out and drink on weekends to have fun. You really don't need alcohol for anything. Not for socializing, not for having fun, nothing. Alcohol is an antiseptic and it's a poison. Just don't put it in your body!
Regarding porn, I don't have an answer for this. If you feel it is a problem in your life than it probably is. Many other people, like myself, are able to watch it without feeling any shame or guilt. It's just one of those things I like. It doesn't control my life and I don't think I'm addicted to it. So for that reason I see no reason to quit. If you don't feel like porn is a problem for you than I would be skeptical of people who try to convince you otherwise because often times they have religious or puritanical reasons for trying to convince you. Only you can determine what is right and wrong for yourself.
