It's amazing that you started this show, BUT I hope you take the LONG journey of watching the anime, in Subbed of course, lol. All 1073 episodes 😀😀😀
I love that you're coming in fresh as an audience, with no knowledge of the original source material, cause it's fascinating to see how a fresh mind, would view the "One Piece World" from Netflix from a "newbie" experience. As opposed to someone who HAS knowledge of it. This is gonna be fun watching you guys. I'll be refreshing the page hoping for the next one soon lol
WHo did the into. His voice was perfect.
Is it me, did the 3 sword guy looked like the green ranger.
@@6dayzofchaos584 the guy who owns the hotel in John Wick.
THEY BROKE THE CURSE. Literally, the best live-action anime adaptation I have ever seen.
it was pretty amazing haha
RUROUNI kenshin broke the curse long ago blud. But this one did too 👍
Now, we need a fantastic adaptation of DBZ, and life will be content again.
@@mikewikstrom6412 I heard somewhere naruto is also getting live action
@@mikewikstrom6412honestly the bdz brand works better as a movie franchise and they defenetly need to have snyder on this project, he knows how to capture the effect of the fight scenes
"Do I go out the door? Which way?"
Greg not knowing that Zoro is famously directionally challenged and gets lost every other episode made that so much funnier
directionally challenged 💀
Directionally challenged? Bro got lost going in a straight line 💀 he's more than challenged
He's like me...
Yes, Zoro always "lost" everytime he walk by himself.
Good thing that Netflix use most of material in original manga and follow the main story.
As old One Piece fans, i'm happy.
@@renflower1910hahahaaa I'm the same.
I say 'I have no awareness of direction' 😂
The live action feels like a parallel universe of the original anime and manga. Very close but at the same time with differences that make it unique and endearing. I loved it.
One change i liked a lot is giving garp and coby more screentime and giving a certain swordman a better purpose to show uo later on
They cut a few moments and details out of Namis story that I loved from the anime and it didn’t hit as hard for me emotionally but other then that I really have been enjoying it a lot
Well said
the idea of a parallel universe is the same thing that "HALO" tried but couldn't quite get
@@MrLizestelle I think Usopp's too. I wish I could have seen more from him and I hope Netflix doesn't decide to water him down.
This is one of the best live action adaptations of anything I've ever seen. It's perfect. I'll admit when they broke the curse, I cried a little.
I was expecting this to be bad. But i was very surprised. The show is incredibly fun and the world feels fun to explore. Definitely want a season 2
The flashback of Sanji broke me, to see it in live action really hit me
@@CrossriderBankai23you already finished it??? I just finished ep 1 lol.
As a non-anime watcher (of One Piece) I'll say the show is pretty good based on this live action. I thought it would be a total crap and cringey but it exceeded my expectations.
@@justsomeintrovertedhuman5726 lmao I saw it seconds after it came out 😁 I already watched every 8 episodes 3 times
They did it. They really did it. Oda being HEAVILY involved has to have been the key. They really scouted the casting for people that knew the anime and it paid off. This is by far the best live action adaptation I’ve seen. I actually felt like I was watching the anime all over again. I’m beyond happy with this. I just wish there were more than 8 episodes. Please watch the anime, I slept on it until this year and it’s blown me away
We may get 10 episodes next because the first season was for budgetary reasons. Here’s to hoping
Yup it is that they even went back to africa or som just to make the shots perfect as oda wants
As a person who doesn’t watch anime this live action adaptation is actually amazing I’m so invested and can’t wait for season 2
If they make a Season 2, get ready for a hell of a ride. The anime and manga gets crazier everytime. Is going to be fun.
@@electrobodyboarderyeah alabasta arc is one of my favorite arc.
it might be impossible because there will be a lot more devil fruits in the grand line.. some of them transform into elements like fire, ice smoke and sand.. also devil fruits like luffy and buggy that are weird and a new type where you can transform into birds and humans and stuff
Facts, most live actions do not do well at all, this is the first one that actually shocked me on how well they did it!
Oh no, you're gonna wait alright lmao😂
I've loved One Piece since I was a kid, it's always THE comfort show for me. And let me tell you, I cried so much watching this😅
me too! it's just beautiful!
This tv show trash live trash action
@@nochillpharaohif ur in so many replies having to tell others that it is trash, it probably isn't trash. Otherwise you wouldn't have to say it over and over.
I had that Iñaki Godoy Luffy smile on the whole way. Cried multiple times. We need to see this cast go all the way! I wanna see it all!
@@gingerdog8203He’s probably pissed that it didn’t fail like he wanted it to.
you say its a long show, but trust me, when youre caught up it feels like there aren’t enough episodes and you will want more
indeed
true
I'd say read the manga lmao the anime will turn people off cuz the pacing. While one piece anime is fun it has alot of dragged on scenes
@@oppideez2158 it still applies. dont matter if its manga or anime. you will want more
Very true
As someone who loves the series and has been a fan for years, the live action was really fun to watch. I really enjoyed it the whole way through, the last 4 episodes especially. I was just smiling the entire time, and that’s what One Piece is all about, having fun
Episodes 5 and 6 were the best for sure.
Who would've thought a live-action adaptation of One Piece, one of the most fantastical, whimsical anime ever, would break the Netflix live-action anime curse?!
Is it a perfect show? No. But the fact that I had a smile the entire first season speaks volumes. To see this world completely realised into live action is a small miracle. By all means, these drawings and the world Oda has created is *impossible* to create into live action, that's why animation works so well. That being said, this show does SUCH a good job translating it into this new medium. Every episode just screams love and attention. It's like a gift to all the fans. It's beautiful to see.
Exactly! There were some things in still not used too right off the bat. But overall it made me smile so much, it took me back!
No show is perfect show. Perfection is non attainable
Yes. It IS perfect show. Sorry not sorry.
It helps that the show runner is a massive One Piece fan too! Thank God or this could’ve been terrible
Oda specifically said that when he started One Piece, he felt like there was no point in making a comic if he was making something that could have just been reproduced in live-action. He actually went out of his way to make it as unreal and unadaptable at possible at first. It wasn't until he saw Xiaolin Soccer a few years after starting that he began to believe it might be possible.
i’m so happy oda decided on making a live action and turned out great. i’m glad to see more people enjoy one piece
This is a dream come true!
I’ve watched 3 episodes so far n honestly the show as a whole has been pretty impressive n very faithful to the source material I honestly still can’t believe Netflix got this right tbh and honestly the more brutal moments like zoro cutting mr.7 in half was a nice addition tbh
Helps when you have people who are actual fans of the source material*cough*Witcher*cough*
As a HUGE One Piece fan they definitely did this live action more than justice! I never subscribed to the fact that anime live action adaptations could never work you just gotta find the right people to make it and this series proves that!
Out of all the anime’s I watch, One Piece is the most daunting, and I probably will never begin the actual anime. I got super excited when I found out they were making a live action, and the fact it’s pretty damn good, is the cherry on top
did you like the live action series???
Luffy is like Jack Sparrow in the beginning bailing water out of the boat. Love the wanted poster intro's. It's a great idea.
Luffy is like that in the Anime/Manga, he is so optimistic and always smiles.
Just finished the whole series, and by God, did they do this justice. It was absolutely incredible
as one of the few who didnt watch the anime but had an idea about it, this show is really fun to watch. its good and people needs to give credit for it!
Agreed I knew of it cause my brother's watch it but I was just like eh this show hooked me though!
"Luffy is cheerful and has charisma"
"This world feels lived in"
For you guys, who have never seen the anime/manga to instantly come to the same conclusions as us long time fans, just goes to show how good and faithful this live action is! Even though it isn't 100% accurate to the source material.
So happy that Greg and Aaron are reacting to this show! This first episode was a lot of fun! 👍
I was OBSESSED with the manga as a kid. I ket crying HAPPY tears watching this show. I LOVE IT! They did so well with the adaptation!
One Piece is a top tier anime. I feel like the live action is great for multiple reasons. The sets/ costumes/music. Cast really feels like they stayed true to their characters !
I didn’t expect this live action to be so good! And I keep repeating “Help that boiiii” 😂
Lmao
This is probably the first live action manga/anime adaptation that isn't ashamed of it's source material.
It feels like they didn't just make this because they could, but because they actually wanted to, and they wanted to do it right. The main cast have such great chemistry. Which is a credit to the manga for writing the characters this way in the first place. But it wouldn't have worked nearly as well if they didn't lean into these character the way that they have. Inaki Godoy as Luffy feels like one in a million casting.
I’m six episodes in out of the eight and I’m loving it so far. All of the characters are interesting and they seem to be adhering to the spirit of each of them. I call this a successful adaptation.
One Piece is a good show. Seems like all of you enjoyed it.
😂😂 if this is good then the last air bender live action good as well
@@fate1413sorry but this show doesnt name the characters
Laffy
Numi
And ziro 😅
Already finished it. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot fun. With great characters, music and production
Not an exact recreations but I think that’s a good thing, plus with how open the world of One piece is, there’s a lot of creative liberty to take compared to Cowboy Bebop. The pacing I was concerned with since the East Blue Arc is long for newcomers. But they established the main points well. Again I don’t mind the some of the changes they did, especially with the pacing of the story cause this was all backed by Oda, and thought they were good. Overall I think this was a really good live action and hope they make season 2 longer.
I think we they worked with minimum budget as well, NOT SAYING it's bad but they can only invest so much into season one, so if audience love it and want more, THEN Netflix can prioritize it too
Still the closest we’ve gotten to a perfect anime live action adaptation
@@tjselwyn7003Minimum budget? Well, i have news for you...
It is a very hard job to make anime real but they did a great job except for some scene but its ok as long as they don't divert from actual essence of character that's imp rest story it's ok to change some story.
As someone who also has not seen the anime, I love this pilot. It was so much fun.
Mexicans = native and Spanish. Some have more then others. Colombians and most Caribbean Latinos = native/ African/ Spanish some have more then others. (Luffys actor’s Mexican and the kid him is Colombian)
Also because of the two people he later grew up with and the foster family he gets after shanks leaves he could have developed an accent from them
These are the only two people I've seen who were confused about who they kid is.
Oda said if this were the real world, Luffy would be Brazilian so it makes sense him picking Inoki. He does a good job
Seeing someone else experience the pure joy and fun of one piece for the first time is always so wonderful
The production designers have done such a good job with this…I’m really enjoying the one piece show so far …they nailed it 💯 😊
One Piece is my all time favorite manga & anime. This adaptation, just based on Ep 1, is amazing!
There are changes that were noticeable immediately, yes, but those changes make absolute sense!
The original author has a broader structure of the plot planned out, but he wrote the in-betweens mostly on the fly, chapter to chapter.
Here they're taking advantage of the fact that it's a live-action adaptation:
At the beginning, the author was quite experimental, & the story was told through the lens of Luffy, but over time the manga & it's anime adaptation became aware of it being a multi-cast story.
Here, it's being telegraphed like that from the get-go.
For example, Zoro's 1st scene. In the og material, he only refers to that interaction in retelling, there wasn't even a flashback to it. We had no reason to experience it, because the story is told through Luffy. We only see Zoro for the 1st time when Luffy sees him for the 1st time.
Overall this adaptation is very good at planting early plot seeds, that weren't there in the og material at that time, so these kind of changes are actually in-canon.
And yes, omg the stretching looks soo good! I'm like super-surprised O.O
One of my favorite things about it how they introduce the characters with the bounty
damn i wish i can feel what theyre feeling watching one piece for the first time
I've never seen this specific anime, but I loved the pilot anyway, just feels like an anime brought to life. Kinda silly, but brings joy. And jeez the main actor is infectious
I'd be SUPER HAPPY, if you guys are bingeing this for the react channel for us 😊
very high rating for the series sofar
9.5 Adaptation, deserves a 5 ⭐
Next Season 2 I have higher expectations, if they fail it's a shame, this where things gets a high scale if you know what I mean.
I know exactly what you mean 👍😆
My mind can't comprehend how they could adapt the insanity in later chapters.
I feel like it's inevitable the would hit a wall because one piece get pretty crazy later on.
My expectations in regards to character truthfulness and writing definitely have gone up A LOT, haha. But I'm not going to expect anything insane, especially since next season should introduce Chopper and I'm vaguely horrified how that will turn out...😅
@@Ringoroadagain6I think by the impel down arc, they would have enough support to invest in better animation.
Having finished the show, it's extremely accurate to the source material. It shuffles things around and it's not a 1:1 adaptation but it keeps all the important story beats, stays true to the characters and the all around vibe One Piece has which is just a lot of heart and sometimes extremely goofy. It's so in tune with the source material, Zoro fighting that Mr. 7 guy and being approached to join Baroque Works is just something that was mentioned in the manga/anime as exposition but here they actually show it which was awesome to see as a fan.
One piece is my favorite anime. I binged the live action one yesterday and loved it. Easily the best live action anime adaptation
luffy has always been described as a greek complexion by oda
Them assuming that Nami's whole "I hate Pirates" shtick isn't anything serious is hilarious. Cant wait to see the moment they find out about her backstory.
Disney/Marvel is definitely gonna try to take notes on the strechy-ness of Luffy's power 🤔 it really looks good 👍
Ive never seen the anime but have fallen completely in love with this show and im only halfway through! Have been completely nerding out about the shot compositions, cosutumes, sets and all the characters are amazing. Inaki is incredible as Luffy and ive been saying the entire time to my brother that he has incredible charisma.
I have watched the whole series, and as a person who has seen most of the arcs and am uptodate with manga, the series changes some minor and major things but all the vibes and emotions are still the same. I think I cried in every episode from episode 2
I'm so happy that a lot of reaction channels are not watching the anime first. it makes it more refreshing and the live action pretty much tells you along the way of the story. i think the live action is goofy but i love it.
The funny thing is live live-action Luffy is way more anime trope in the way he talks and his words than actual Luffy. He really is a great Luffy and manages to capture the essence of Luffy so well. But he is also quite different. This whole show is like that actually. Such a great adaptation.
its good to see pure newcomers to enjoy one piece, even if its a live action
i was very wary of this show because i've been a huge One Piece fan since the beginning, but after watching the first episode i'm completely sold and will be watching the rest over the next few days.
it does make some small changes here and there (i understand why), but still keeps the same style of humor and adventurous tone as the Anime and Manga.
yeah, it has the feelings from one piece, it makes me want to rewatch the very beginning of the anime.
the humor is not the same at all beginning of one piece was basically a show made for kids and fun they made it very serious for some reason.
This is such a charming adaptation, I am having a blast watching it
I love seeing reactions like yours to this show! It's nice seeing this adaptation reach out to a new audience and introduce them to this world that so many of us have been captivated by for decades!
I actually cried when i watch this, maybe because the show is running for 20+ years and its been 20+ years since i watch the first few episodes. Its nostalgic but its not just that. The Live Action Itself is amazing. ❤
I've never watched the One Piece anime, but I just binged all of Season 1 in a day yesterday! This show is an amazingly fun and well shot fantasy adventure with awesome characters and stories! Wow!
It's crazy how much they nailed it! 9 out of 10 from me! Been watching 1Piece for over a decade and I cried like a little kid man! Watching this live-action was a dream come true, especially after so many disappointments. Sure they changed a few things but it works out so well!!!
*This is the beginning of new PIRATE ERA!!!*
Them laughing and enjoying the show is literally the purpose of making this adaptations oda literally saif i wrote this story to make people smile ❤
I'm so old that I've read the manga from early 2000 through 2010 and this show just reignited my love for it again! This is the lil pirate with a DREAM who I fell in love with! So many laughs and cries with these characters! I love watching people discovering this world with an accessible adaptation! If a world deserves it, it's this!
I love Luffy in this show. He truly embodies the friend everyone wishes they had.
Great thing about this adaption for me is that they don't shy away from the "Grime" - in the Anime you don't really see much death or "hardcore" gore but so far we saw someone get cut in Half and buggy actually looks intimidating and not some random clown pirate! they did a great job!
Dude as a long time fan of the show and after watching One Piece L.A., these reactions make me so happy to see how new viewers see the show and even enjoy it :]
It was a surprisingly good adaptation One Piece is my all time favourite anime and this brought so much joy for me
I'm really excited you guys are reacting to this show!! As a fan, it's been great so far, and I'm so interested to hear your thoughts about it since you guys aren't familiar with the source material! 💙
I am absolutely happy that you guys are checking One Piece out whether it was the anime or this live action adaptation which works really well to introduce you guys to this amazing story I’ll say this you guys are DEFINITELY in for a fun ride with this one🏴☠️🔥
Nothing is perfect, but One Piece makes me smile. And gasp. And cry. And one time I'm pretty sure my eyes popped out of my head.
Glad you are reacting to this greg😄
Been a One piece fan since 2018 and can say the world of One piece is just so fun and immersive.
I remember being 15 and dreaming about a One piece live action. I remember people being sceptical when it was announced 5 years ago. I'm 23 now and just finished watching it and still can't believe it exists. The Live Action adaptation of a seemingly unadaptable Anime is here and it's magnificent ❤️
Can't wait for season 2!
I was waiting for you to react to it's trailer. I'm really happy that you are reacting to it Greg 😁 I hope you'll enjoy it! Love from India 🇮🇳
OMG! I was seriously hoping that they will cover this OP live action.. and they did! As an OP hardcore fan, I'm beyond excited to get to see your reaction on my favorite story of all time!
I'm so happy that Netflix has finally made a good adoptation. It's a very sweet and perfect package for new fans who are daunted by the length of One Piece. This helps them fall in love with the world and characters bringing more fans in.
Please don’t stop this series.
I really enjoy your reaction and now my fav reactors + my fav series. Is like cherry on top.
Keep it up !!
Good to see that this show made you wanna watch the anime/read the manga because i honestly, i felt the same even as a fan.
As a fan of the anime and manga, watching you guys go in completely blind and react to everything from a completely fresh, un-spoiled perspective was such a delight. Loved the reactions to Luffy's powers and Zoro's skills, and was so happy to see you warming to the characters right away. One Piece is a phenomenal series, but it can be difficult to sell people on it because of its length, and because the artwork and general vibes can feel a little corny at first, and it takes a little longer in the anime/manga for the plot to really get moving. I really hope the live action can provide a good alternative to introduce people to the world and the characters. Really looking forward to following the rest of this reaction series!
I'm so happy to see you guys are watching this. I've been a huge One Piece fan. A friend finally convinced me to watch it like 6 years ago. It took me a while at first and then I took a break for almost 2 years. Then I picked up where I was around ep. 130 and within 6 months I was caught up to episode like 890 at the time cause I legit got addicted. It was so good. Then after watching it weekly I got so impatient almost a year ago and picked up the manga to catch up in that. It's so good. And cause most live actions are trash I was scared when I found out they were trying One Piece. But I'm 4 episode in now and Its not perfect. But its pretty damn good as an anime live action and even just good as a show.
I'm really glad you two enjoyed the episode. I've watched all the show already and I'm looking forward to season 2 when they decide to announce it. I was completely sold when they nailed the feeling of the final story arc of this season. It made me tear up just like in the anime and after that I was all in for the long haul. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.
I just finish all episodes and all i can say is amazing great and i need season 2 now 😢
Please keep it coming!, i would love to see the raw unfamiliar reaction from you two for the rest of the season!
I am so happy you are reacting to this! I would love to see the rest of these. Genuinely glad that Greg is enjoying it so much! I saw this anime as a child and recently got reacquainted with it. I love this series so much and am excited for you guys to watch it too! :)
Subscribed! You guys are fun! Can't wait to check out your other stuff! 😊
It's a good adaptation, they did an impressive job.
I really hope that people who have never watched the anime or read it the manga, decide, after finishing the series, to give the story an opportunity.
Yes, it's long, and you need to give it time and have discipline, but the storytelling of Oda, his amazing characters and worldbuiling are worth it.
As a one piece fan for 20+ years this show was absolutely perfect.
I requestes this many times thank you for reacting and watching this ❤
This is the type of reaction I’ve been curious for. My feed is full of people who are already fans, been curious how new viewers follow and enjoy.
Watched all 8 eps already. I liked it. Haven't watched the anime in a decade.
This live action is great. But regarding comparison, live action is the ground and manga, anime are the sky.
YES! YES! YES!!! I wanted to watch a reaction of someone who hadn't watch one piece and I thank the lord it was you guys!
This show is perfect for people not willing to spend 14 days+ watching 1000 episodes 😂
I usually tell people who interested in one piece to read the manga.
It's like 3 times faster than watching the show.
Yeah but the anime is better
I went into this blind having not watched the original anime even though I’m aware of it’s existence. Three episodes in and I’m enjoying it so far. It’s definitely better then Cowboy Bebop as far live action anime adaptations go.
This IP is all new to me as well! And I love your reaction team-ups! Awesome group!
I think it's fun to see reactor that haven't watch the anime or even read the manga. It's genuinely a fun show and I think they translated the anime feeling pretty well so keep up guys. I think your reaction, as viewer who start with live action is so interesting and valuable.
All we need now is a live action Yu-Gi-Oh movie based on the 5ds season, my favorite season.🐉🏍️
Loved your reaction! I assumed you were familiar with One Piece. I've been binging it this summer. It's so fun! And so is the live-action. Def impressed by the adaptation
I love the review...it definitely makes me feel validated in my love for the adaption... cuz i know Im bias, but seeing that the same feels were hitting you made me smile even more
They really did and amazing job with this, i love one piece. the cinematography is excellent, am on episode 4 thanks guys for reacting to this.
Yall are hilarious. Fun to watch with you!
Hope to see more of this from you guys. This show exceeded a lot of expectations for live action anime. It wasn't perfect, but it stays true enough to the core characters and story that if it's able to get more seasons, I think they can refine it down based on criticisms. The creators are very in touch with the community and I think they'll do a lot to try and shore up weaknesses for season 2.
this really did keep close to the source material while changing some things but didn’t bother me with the different changes. we binged it all last night id love to see the rest of the series on your channel! Enjoy!!
Makes me so happy watching someone who was not an original One Piece watcher/reader and still ENJOYING IT
So glad you are reacting to this, watched the first 4 episodes together
Wow You started a reaction series on this. So Jaby will get to hear it from you as well. Kudos man. Excited for your input.
As someone who's caught up with the manga and anime, this adaptation is a good introduction to the franchise to people who have never seen it before. Can't wait to watch y'all's reaction to the other episodes
So glad as a One Piece fan, you're trying this out! I thought this series went great. I hope you guys enjoy the characters and world building! :D
