Yassop (Usopp's dad) was the one who ricohet bullets on Luffy's flashbacks
Luffy declaring he's a pirate and explaining his dream while walking across the table was hilarious, and was such a Luffy thing to do 😂. The great Usopp's lies always come true!

the actor who played kuro is adding more to his resume to some horror, action, psychopatic villain...because he did an amazing job playing it...
Yassop was a crewmate of Shanks Red Hair Pirates. He is the one who ricocheted a bullet into a headshot.

Fan fact: Usopp is based on Aesop, the man who told the fables? And also based on the boy who cried wolf which of course is shown to be very similar in this situation!

oda loves puns, so it’s more likely that it’s a portmanteau of aesop and uso which is the japanese word for lie/lying.

A lot of characters have some sort of inspiration from other stories. Merry a lamb = Mary had a little lamb + Merry "Go" round. Buggy = Joker or any clown villain. Roronoa Zoro = Zorro the masked swordsman. Luffy = Goku. And many more.

Iñaki [Luffy ] and Mackenyu [ Zoro ] have behind the scenes chemistry similar to the roles. Mackenyu is just awe shocked of Iñaki doing things. Reel and Real life Luffy/Zoro.
Captain Kuro and Usopp's actor did an amazing job! I'm so glad you guys are enjoying One piece. It is truly a special franchise, and Oda is such an insanely good writer. It only gets better 🔥
I kinda hate how they removed alot of ussop becoming brave in this arc, but kuro DEFINITELY carried this arc like the way they turned him from a mid villain into someone who actually scares me, you know that he's big
@@lightningjadejavier I think people are jumping the gun on this with the character arcs of the crew. Their characters are established, they can now grow over the course of the series. Even Zoro's stoicism has been criticised as extreme in LA, but we see him (and Nami) open up and let those walls come down throughout the 8 episodes. The characters will develop.

Klahadore's actor is both menacing and charismatic, great acting. Also, Live action Sham is peak Sham, just saying.

The thing about One Piece is that it just keeps getting better and better, more complex, more world building, more plot twists, more details, then stuff you saw a ton of time ago come back and are talked more about and so much more! Can't wait for a Season 2, but I highly recommend the Anime :D

The first thing I thought of when I saw Kuro pop up on screen was "do the thing! do the thing with your glasses!!"
I burned through this whole season when it came out. I’m having so much fun re-watching it with you guys.
3:34 According to director Marc Jobst, he had special camera lenses created just for this show to emulate a surreal feeling similar to the long & zany perspective angles used in the manga.
Usopp's dad is Yasopp, the one with the guns, same marksmanship. But Kuro's minions Sham and Buchi are cat-themed, thus fangs and hissing, in the original they are the Nyaban brothers, Sham being a man in the manga, but the gender swap works quite well in live action.
In the manga sham was also pretty androgynous and the characters themselves aren't too important so the change is acceptable compared to some other series try to do a similar thing
Usopp saying the ship is the fastest is actually true. The type of ship shown is known well as a merchant ship, due to its speed. It's called a Caravel. It's the first time he tells the truth in the series.
The little piece of dialogue where luffy is talking about the going marry and how it “spoke” to him is such a great little Easter egg and nod to the fans that comes into play a little later down the road of the actual story.

In One Piece (and don't read this if you don' want to get spoiled) ships have souls pretty much. If you take care of your ship and truly love it, it will love you back. In the manga/anime, the going marry will very rarely show signs of it being "alive." Like when Luffy and Usopp have a falling out and duel each other, Marry sheds a tear. Or in Skypea Usopp see's what he thinks is a ghost on the ship, but it was actually the spirit of Marry repairing herself. The biggest moment however, is when the Going Marry burns and dies, and she starts speaking to the crew about how thankful she is for them and how she loves them. @@cocop1139

The ship *literally* speaks to them just before it “dies”. Because the ship is basically alive, since it’s based on a real life sailor’s legend of the Klabautermann. The Going Merry gets a really emotional Viking-style funeral. One Piece is the one show that can make you cry over a ship.
Love the Easter eggs in the live action like how Luffy said to the ship that if it talked but was Usopp

Yasopp was not the guy with goggles, he was the guy in episode 2 who did a trickshot off a pan to hit the bandit trying to choke the goggles guy out
They even kept one of Kuro's key details from the anime/manga. Normally, anime/manga characters adjust their glasses by pushing them up with one finger on the bridge. However, Kuro doesn't do that to avoid the chance of his retractable blades stabbing him in the eye. That's why he uses the palm of his hand.
This section of the manga was one of the first parts of One Piece I ever saw, and because of that I have a soft spot for Kuro. He's the polar opposite of Buggy and such a fun villain. This and the next episode nailed how frightening he is.
The ships are all practical, they built them and they’re just gorgeous!!!

I love watching these reactions, remind me of myself back when I haven't spent hundreds of hours watching and reading this franchise. Just trying to make predictions and theories, and just fully giving up on that at some point because the author loves making twists that make sense but so insane that only few people would predict/expect them.

I feel like the way this episode was shot in particular, has to do with Kaya being poisoned so we feel sorta disoriented too, and it actually does has a Alice in Wonderland vibe. Her being kind of a bird in a cage maybe?
I would think so too but it's actually because Buggy was listening in. These weird shots only appear when Luffy is in frame. I really like it because we don't know what's wrong but it makes is watch much more closely and try to find out what's going on. Which as you said works really well with Kaya being sick and us having to find out why.

Craziest thing watching these reactions as a decades old fan. I hear you describe the world building, the characters, and the story... And you could easily be describing the manga or the live action and I wouldn't be able to tell a difference. It genuinely is the exact same words, phrases, etc to describe the manga characters.
Usopp+Luffy have that close friend energy, same.
Luffy+Zoro being opposite but just working, same.
Organic world building that doesn't stop to explain everything and just let's it happen naturally, same.

i'm just happy to see a reaction where the actual footage isnt super transparent to the point you can barely recognize anything or the subtitles aren't mirrored while the rest of the footage is mirrored, i know one piece reactors have been through some sh!t but come on.
Usopp's dad, Yasopp, was the pirate in the last episode that did the trick shot during the bar fight if you guys were still wondering who he was exactly.
And still can't get over how good this show is, One Piece is one of my favorite anime and I really enjoyed the early parts of it when I first watched it and it's introductions to the world and everything, so seeing it again but differently has been amazing. The actors have been killing it and they really have their character's personalities on lock 🙏🏼

i think one of the characteristic i really like about Luffy is he does seem a bit naive and just don't get it sometimes. As the story goes on there are hints that he gets it but like a true pirate he just doesn't play by conventional rules. He often challenges the conventional norm and unjust in the world. They showed a bit of that with the Koby storyline in the live action adaptation.
Buggy is really important in one piece....luffy and Buggy moments are priceless
The actor playing Koby was the little shit brother from Evil Dead Rise

omg you guys need to watch the next episode so I can watch it again with you all! :D I've got to say I started watching the anime on Netflix about 2 months ago. It only gets better!! I just want to say... you might be shedding some tears in the future... but I swear this anime is amazing. Also, I honestly think this live action version of an anime is the best and most honorable one I've ever seen. There are some changes from the live action vs anime, but damn they really do honor it. I can't wait for season 2 of the live action... and I'll try to get to ep 1071 of the anime, which is the last episode for now.

its insane how the anime is very funny and comes across more lighthearted even in the dark stuff. now you see the live action stuff and its outright psycho horror :P
Usopp is one of my favorite characters in the anime along with the next crew member they meet and the third one is the musician that comes in much later. This show is amazing enough to wait for the introduction of all the crew and villains. I'd love it if the show went at least 10 Seasons.
It' s been a while since I've seen the Usopp intro story, but I remember that his father and mother weren't the same race. His mother looked like she was White or Asian in the anime. Probably Asian because I think she had a Japanese first name. Too bad they changed it, but they changed something that happened in the next episode with Kaya and Usopp that I don't think happened in the anime which caught me by surprise.
Also the Kaya actress looks a lot like the character in the anime and her character had a sweet and cute personality in it as well. Glad you two enjoyed the episode. I can't wait to watch the next episode to see how you like the final to the story of Usopp the Great.

You guy are right the world building is apart the anime. It gets even more in the manga and anime.
Here's the crazy thing " one piece has more than 1000 named characters and 90% of time no one really dies, and that's the genius of oda that he juggles so many characters and integrate them in story that feels natural and gets time to grow on you, like buggy who seemed like one time villain is like in center of stage with important players left in game even after 1000 chapters... Crazy

Are you serious? Sure, it was good, but it absolutely was *not* better than the material. They took away Usopp’s best heroic moments. They did Usopp dirty in this adaptation.
Watched this ep multiple time & never noticed Buggy was still missing a piece.
