- Wow! What a crazy episode!! One Piece Episode 1 Reaction. It is a full reaction for the new Netflix live action Adaptation of the popular anime series. This swashbuckling, well shot, well acted mega hit for Netflix was a great adventure. The characters Monkey D. Luffy played by Iñaki Godoy is charming and joined by a fantastic group such as Roronoa Zoro played by Mackenyu, Nami by Emily Rudd, Garp played byVincent Rega, Koby (-Morgan Davies and more. No that's some deluded one piece fan logic. The Fandom will come? It's a great show like any other but making videos on it doesn't mean some super influx will happen. I mean I'll watch every video he makes but it's not some magic bullet.

Been a one piece fan for almost 20 years. Love the live action show. I feel like it does a good job of showcasing what makes one piece special.
The actor who plays Luffy plays him in such a sweet and optimistic way, but his smile actually has a hidden sinister tone. As if he'd shank (haha) you at any moment. Love that duel dynamic.

Glad you’re watching and hope you continue to do reactions. I’m currently rewatching the show in Japanese as the main actors who’ve been doing the anime for the past 20+ years did the Japanese dub.

@@piusdoe8984 I only know that the actors for the StrawHat crew returned. I don’t know if they brought back the actors for the other characters too.
I honestly prefer the Japanese dubs. (Edit: of the anime) The voice actor that does Luffy brings top level energy to the character's dialogue.
@@Zachfive To each their own. I think Iñaki has been fantastic bringing Luffy to life and carrying on the legacy. It’s been fun watching the Netflix show in both languages.

As a One Piece fan for twenty years who went into this show with very low expectations, I was blown away by how enjoyable it was. It's a good bit different from the comic in a lot of places, but the changes they made aren't anything that takes away from the story. Very happy with this adaptation and very happy that you and so many others are enjoying it.
Love this reaction video. This show captivated me immediately. I could never get into the anime, so I'm glad I'll get to experience the story through this show. They knocked it out with the casting on this. Bravo

The one piece audience is huge and open to new viewers. Love all your content and the episodes are in batches of 2 so I recommend at least doing the next one as well. Read all the manga and seen all the anime and this is a great adaptation
I read the manga and one piece is one of the best fictional worlds ever. And I'm impressed by the number of people who are not familiar with the story that enyoyed the live action. Hope you continue on.
As a long time fan of One Piece, I really enjoyed the show, it got me so hyped. Can’t help falling in love with the cast, and the pacing is great! Looking forward to more of these reactions and glad you and your daughter liked it too!
I've heard of the anime but never watched it before. I did love THIS. The second we see Luffy, I was pulled in. This kid has so much instant charisma, the music, the production design, the way it is shot is just amazing to me.And unlike some other high profile shows, the episode is full length and action packed. I have been forcing myself to only watch a couple episodes at a time so the experience will last, but it is up there with my favorite Netflix shows already. And it gives me some hope that Avatar will be good as well. Loved the reaction btw. If you react to it, I'll watch for sure.
I'm really glad you liked it! I watched the first episode of the animated series (with over 1000 episodes now!) and it was fun, but watching all those episodes was daunting, and I never got around to watching more. When this came out, I watched the first episode, and loved it, so I'm watching it with other members of my family. I agree, Monkey D. Luffy is an amazing character, and I think Iñaki is perfectly cast.
This show is Absolutely A-MA-ZING.

This show absolutely delivered. Despite the limitations that live action has, it stays true to the heart of the manga and anime, which is the most important thing that many of these live action adaptations miss. The actors are super passionate about their roles and it shows through on the screen. The sets are gorgeous, the storyline faithful yet different enough to keep the fans as well as newcomers engaged. It just works.
As a fan of the anime/manga for over a decade now I loved it, because it is faithful to the source material yet different. It adapts the source material but makes changes for a variety of reasons but is incredibly faithful when it really matters. I think for people who don’t watch anime or read manga this is a fine way to get the story even with the changes.
Watched the first few minutes of this video, turned you off and put One Piece on. Binged the whole season, then came back and finished watching you. Loved the series. So much. Glad you reacted because it gave me a new show to love.

Every episode surpasses the previous one (in my opinion), so it's truly an adaptation that consistently gets better with every episode. I hope you enjoy it man.

I'm caught up with the manga and anime. I'm a huge One Piece fan. This show while it does take a few liberties, it also captures the soul of One Piece. I am so happy that its bringing in new fans that would have never watched it before. Now everyone else can see what us One Piece fans have been saying for 20+ years. Keep going! I need to catch up on the series. I couldn't find any more episodes after I made it through the marathon that was Alabasta back then.
As someone who has read over 1000 chapter i can say that what they have adapted so far is so good and respectful to the original source material. It does help that oda the creator of one piece was really involved with the production of the series

I appreciate that you took a chance on this show and like it. I was so surprised at how good it was especially since reputation for live-action adaptations of anime's is usually terrible. The pacing is wonderful because what you saw in 1 episode was like 8 episodes. Very good thing to do for casual fans. Hope you continue to do reactions on the channel but we will see what the numbers do for you.

Great stuff! Honestly as a hardcore fan it’s much more interesting watching people’s reactions who’ve never seen / read the series before. Fresh takes are important - I’m trying to see how people think of it as an actual TV show too, not just an anime adaptation - glad you had a fun time, the season only gets better

I got to say they’ve done a great job with this show. I was so sceptical that they could go from the anime to live action but it was great fun. The characters feel so much more rounded than in the anime. Solid start!

Stoked that you are enjoying the show. I've watched hundreds of episodes of the anime (I even have a model of the G**** M**** on my shelf) and it brings me joy to see others have fun with this world. The show is faithful to the source material as much as it can be, and true to the spirit of it when it can't. I think most of the casting is great.

Never watched the anime and I love this show. I actually watched a couple of episodes of the anime but was confused since there's like 1000 episodes. The live action was awesome and now I know what "One Piece" is all about. I can't wait for season two.

As a fan of the manga and anime, to me it absolutely delivers and I was amazed at how much love and respect went into this new format. My parents (70s) who knew nothing had a blast and ended up loving the show. I can't wait to see your full review

This is by far my favorite anime of all time, and this live action certainly did deliver.
And one of the best parts is getting to see newcomers react to it. Because that's what this was aiming to do.

oh man, I remember watching your weekly Star Wars thing on Collider way back before around the time ep7 was about to hit theatres, as well as the late Jon Schnepps weekly Comic book roundtable, always thinking how you'd enjoy One Piece.... the live action brought it on your radar AND you enjoy it, really glad you do.
as a long time fan, since early 2010, I really love this.... there are some things that are different, beyond concessions made through an adaptation, and nitpicky in nature mostly, but the tone, the characters .. the general feel ... were hit right on the mark

I didn’t know anything about this show and started watching it too. I am hooked. There is a huge lore and story payoffs from my understanding. Even in this first season. I really hope they get to make as many of these seasons as possible. So far it is bananas, awsome, heartfelt, and totally amazing!
