Valid points... The drawbacks for me is no stereo sample export, quirky time stretch, and needs the Octotrak slicer implemented... These fixes should be coming in updates...
what is the bit depth and sample rate of the vocal sample? pitch shifting is not possible in general physically in a certain freq range if its not a high dynamic range or headroom
not at home and don't have digitakt in front of me, but @5:18 Pres Func + Keyboard, and choose sample distribution per key - KB Fold On , and you'll have what you want. And for Legato, go to settings and turn on legato only for overlapping notes and you can do pitch glide. Check Captain Pikant video on Digitakt 2 at 3 minute mark
It's weird when people want hardware to perform like a powerful computer. It's like they missed the point. If you want ENDLESS possibilities then get yourself a badass mac or PC and a controller surface and go to sound. You can have every sound, every effect, every sequencing option and style. Hardware is a different beast. You work with the limitations. They can be pretty inspiring if you give them a shot. Just stop wasting time comparing it to a computer. It's not meant to be that. Some of the best tracks of all time were made with gear that was 12 bits and had 16 megs of ram. I think you'll be all right.

It‘s not Elektrons fault when your source doesn‘t have filter option, or should the Digitakt have some premium mic amps as well? Mid-Side decoding? Neve EQs? Tube based overdrive? MADI connection? Wifi support?
Digitone 2 seems to be more improved than the Digitakt 2....even the Roland P6 has polyphonic playback of samples, really disappointed with Elektron recently...
What about the miserable file transfer? It’s even slower than DT1 using MIDI file transfer! What is this… 2002 ?! There’s a USB port, no USB 3 or 2 to transfer files. I owned one for 5 days and returned it. That was a deal breaker for me.
another alternative to global settings is a template you start with then save the progress to another project slot as something else. Kind of a pain to make but could save you time.
note: i do not own a digitakt 2. When i read the manual i had already seen the base-width filter before the filter section, it is on page 15. I can understand thought why it would be annoying of you are used to DT1
The biggest reason I still haven't gotten on the digitakt bandwagon is that there is no polyphonic sample playback. Like ooh stereo playback in 2024 wow, real progress lol.
Tbh still the best gear I ever got, and I am not dissapointed at all with the other new features. The workflow is everything I ever needed, and there is always a way to make something you want on this.
That time stretch and you can’t adjust the start/end points on sample slices?!! I know there’s the work around for that but Jesus. In 2024 at $1000 and you can’t adjust that? You can on the old Octatrack MkII
@ so with parts, you have 4 parts/bank, which means there are 4 "kits" kind of for 16 patterns. Parts are the machines you load in to tracks, all the parameters you set for the whole track, includinf the FX, the FX settings, the LFO, the LFO settings, the amp settings everything. In order for you to use it like you would use the DT, that each pattern is it's own thing, you would have to parameter lock every parameter that you want to change in another pattern. And if you for example forget to lock something, and you change it in another pattern, it changes it in a previously made pattern aswell which uses the same part. That's why I love the DT and DN, every pattern is it's own thing.
@@FigittyFau Thanks for the reply, makes sense. I just got the OT recently and also have a Digitakt. I haven't run into these issues yet but will keep them in mind. I'm thinking that there would be some advantages to parts as well though. Another would be that you might want to copy parameters (but not the sequence) from 1 pattern to another, which you also could not do on the DT.
