+s0rl If you have a system powerful enough to emulate the PS2, then you can be able to listen to the fabulous tunes as much as you want, and play the game at the same time ;) Like this: gyazo.com/58dcf99ee000d4db620ab0ffea61b556
s0rl Not bad.. Mine broke down like 6 years ago :( Disc reader went bad. But today I got a powerful PC that can emulate the fantastic PS2.. And I still got all my old games
I remember watching his videos for the first time like 5 years ago on a terrible laptop with broken hinges and now I have like ten computers with from all kinds of time periods. Still always excited when he uploads.
I overclocked my 6450 and it started flying around the room! I couldn't catch it, it was so fast. When i did touch it once it was so hot my finger melted slightly. After about an hr it fell str8 outta the air and into the trash. Dont oc a 6450!
@Narkomancers i used the amd tool with the safety stuff turned off if i remember correctly but it was allmost 6 year ago i did it so the software's properly changed makeing it harder to almost kill the card
ItzGabrielBitches gt4 music yeah lol that was the racing game I spent most of my time playing. I finished entirely every championship and got all cars 2 times. (after losing my 8 mb memory card once lol)
***** Well, my CPU is an Arrandale CPU (Intel Core i3 380M) Of course, that's mobile, so it explains why. Also got a new PC with a G3258 and GTX 950 :P
For those of you saying that overclocking these cards aren't worth it, they are. Just only in a few situations. He got a 10-20 fps improvement, and when you are running hand me down hardware or have a relatively close to zero budget, overclocking these lower end cards can mean the difference between playing games or not playing them. Do not discourage gamers with relatively no budget or we may lose them from the ranks of our brethren altogether. I used to game on a Dell Dimension 4400 when I was younger and I was horribly disappointed with the amount of games I was handed down that I could not play. If I had access to overclocking, the Geforce card I had inside could have at least been able to handle a few of them and I would have been much happier. Instead I was forced to switch to consoles and leave my computing behind for a few years. I think it's great that channels like GHG show us that it's possible to make some games playable if you can't change your hardware. So thank you for this video.
I remember having a 5450 before. I got a r7 250x and was just crazily amazed at how insanely faster it was compared to the 5450. I gave it to a friend and his APU was considerably faster then it. Sad.
Lol love the gran turismo 3 music in the background i randomly stumbled across your channel but i must say this was honestly one of the best videos i couldve ever asked for i havent seen many in depth videos of overclocking lower end hardware this video was great but anyways thanks for informing me on the potential to be tapped on the hd 5450 it only makes me more curious as to what the 6450 could do only because it has twice the amount of cores in it
i like you. you remind me of myself when i didn't have a good pc and was playing games at 20 fps. Unlike some people nowadays that cant play unless its 1080p at ultra and 60 fps
For the games I play my Radeon 6770 512mb is enough for 1080p 60fps, tf2 and gmod run just fine and while I did need to lower all settings to potato, o did get beam ng to run Gina and gta v to technically turn on.
My current rig: CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 935 @3.0GHz GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5450 512MB of fucked-if-I-know RAM: 8 GB of DDR-Celestia-knows-what 1866 Storage: 1TB 5400RPM HDD Case: Hewlett-Packard-because-seven-cocking-years-ago-we-were-too-stupid-at-the-time-to-realize-that-pre-built-"gaming PCs"-are-absolute-piles-of-arse-and-we-should-have-built-our-own-full-stop. ...I think I need to upgrade.
This thing is ancient as fuck. Back when this was made, 2 gigs was the minimum requirement for quite a few of games. When it was brand-new, it ran games decently. Now this dust collector is at the minimum for modern titles and DX on the GPU is outdated. Truth be told, I don't know if I can get DX10 or higher without swapping out the GPU. In that case, why bother? I'm already planning and saving for an i7 6700K, 32GB RAM, 980ti small form factor rig that boots and stores games on a 512GB M.2. When that runs out (which would take forever) prices for 6gb/s SSDs would have plummeted significantly and I'll get a 2tb Samsung Evo for mass storage.
+ArthurSixx Don't even buy an Intel CPU if you wanna play games only. Go for AMD in that part. There's no reason to get an i7 if you won't use Premiere and After Effects along with the games.
+ArthurSixx Well, the 5450 does support dx11 so your comment on whether you would have to swap out the GPU for that reason makes me cringe. But talking on another story, you already have planned ahead to a excellent gaming pc so I wish you a great experience.
My first GPU was a ATi Radeon 9550 back in 2004. That card lasted me for 4 years for one good reason. For some reason, you could overclock it could to ridiculously high clockspeeds (considering the base one) and it would still run fine! I think I ended up doubling the core clock speed and I got a completely playable experience. I ended up using the 2004 rig to play L4D when it came out and I got a pretty good experience at medium to high settings. All in all, old ATi cards were pretty okay.
Marcus Christensen I just don't get the fucking point of your comment...it's like not even necessary because I referenced my 8500gt as a relationship to the video...but maybe you're not smart enough to figure that out.
+Irrozan Yes both sides have their piece of shit models for the broke bastards :P When i was a broke kid, my piece of shit was the Geforce MX 440(i'm a little old now). Pretty bad when you get better frames with the integrated gpu half the time lol.
Nice video, the overclock helped indeed .. I remember overclocking my 4350 for around 50-100Hz.. It jumped from 25fps to 50 :) Now I have a GTX950 and am playing at FullHD Ultra settings on 300 FPS lol
Used to have an old 5670, but even at stock speeds it head heat issues due to the fact it was passively cooled, and it started showing artifacts all the time, I ended up putting in my gramp's PC, as it's still good for hardware accelerated video playback, which his PC was in need of.
Good to know for someone who might be stuck with a card like this. It does make a difference. I got a pc for fairly cheap and it has a Zotac gt-630. Not a great card, but the pc was a good deal. In that kind of situation, it makes sense. But never cheap out on a card when you are actually upgrading or building a pc and graphics card shopping
People relate me to your channel quite a bit even though I wasn't really trying to do any parodies. This sort of "go over a friends house and watch them mess with a computer" style is more what I do. I think I should return the favor and try some more narration-driven stuff about computers... :-D
Thank you again for this video Green Ham. I have been debating if I should keep my XFX R5 230. It handles HD video fine, but I tried to run Doom 3 on it and it got about 7fps right at the get go without anything happening. There's plenty of VRam on the card. 2gb to be exact, so the 512mb that the game takes at ultra is clearly not the problem and I think I'll see a lot of improvement if I push my core clock up a bit.
Reminds me of my old Geforce 7300 GT. It was a passive card, but alter strapping a fan to it, it was quite good to overclock. I was able to push it to 640 MHz on the core and 440 MHz on the memory (stock was 375/350 MHz) I haven't had any card that clocked this well since then. Some times the lower end cards, especially when cooled passively can be quite impressive overclockers.
Hey whoever is using this card, i tested this overclocking method on mine, i went to 770 mhz it was pretty amazing i played dead space 3 at 25 fps with some drops low shadows and a res of 1024*768, pretty bad i know, but when i clocked it to this frequency i got a solid 30 fps at a res of 1280*1024, i cant thank this bro enough because im stuck with this chip and i needed a boost like this, and whoever is in the same boat with me, go out there and play ds3 its great, my specs are Cpu intel i5 3470 at 3.4 4gb ram Gpu Asus hd5450 Also play games like prototype on here, but if you are experiencing lag, its mostly the bad optimization of the game, so dont feel bad
My laptop has a Radeon 5470 which is the same chip but with a stock clock of 750 MHz. Overclocking, I pushed it to 900 MHz before artifacts occurred. Had to bring it back to 880 MHz for gaming otherwise the I lose the display as well.
When I moved back to PC gaming about 4 years ago, I was stuck with this card, I had over clocked it as far as it would go and had a large heat sink bolted to it with a fan to try push it further. It was horrible. I used it for as long as I could but before it drove me mad it was banished to a drawer. I think I replaced it with a used HD4850 1GB which was great! (That eventually burnt itself out)
I had a Sapphire HD 5450 Passive Card with 1GB DDR3 and I could put it @ 690 Mhz GPU Clock and 860 Mhz Memory Clock. I replaced the thermal paste and put an extra fan on it. And my case had a good airflow. The highest temps are around 42-45°.
I remember how I could get something like 25-50% greater framerates out of games on my 2006 era laptop with x1400 graphics. The actual overclocking headroom on that chip was quite substantial. But it's unusual to try and overclock laptop parts. (required a non-standard driver and forcing the overclocking functionality from desktop chips to activate.) The thing is, overclocking (or even massively underclocking) the core frequency did almost nothing to gaming performance. All the speed boost (or slowdown) came from altering the memory clocks. That suggests the chip was seriously starved for memory bandwidth compared to what games expected graphics cards to be able to do... Overclocking sometimes shows you weird things like that...
Yeah, i did some overclock on my 5850 yesterday too. 980/1100 on 1.187v by it's pretty risky to keep such clocks without proper cooling, cuz i have reference card. So i edited my bios and set clocks 900/1100 and 1,1125v. By default it was 725/1000 and 1,088 core voltage. 24% not bad, eh. Good HD5850 ref cards may OC up to 1000 mhz by core. Anyway 1 gig memory is outdated for modern games which causes freezing, but it's awesome that after almost 7 years of being released this card can handle games like Dying Light... Anyway i grew up for playing games, sometimes i play 7 days to die with my friend. So HD5850 is a good plug to touch new games.
I managed to pull out stable 870MHz core on mine. Asus HD5450 is different. It has PARK(Ati Mobility HD5470) core instead of CEDAR (like in normal HD5450). These are higher binned allowing for much higher clocks
Overclock an ATI Radeon HD 2400 and I'll really be impressed, I have one that came in a wimpy little Dell Optiplex 755 and the performance of the card leaves a whole lot to be desired.
I overclocked a 250 gts from I think a 540 stock clock to 1310 mhz and it was very stable. It literally never crashed at this speed. I relegated it to Physx duty when I added a 275 gtx from ebay for cheap.
With only 80 stream processors, that thing is pretty weak. I had a sapphire 5450 and I just put the sliders all the way up in catalyst control center. Was stable haha
Had this card in my first computer, never really thought it was that bad. Played WoW, Minecraft, and other games just fine. Then in 2014 I upgraded to a GTX 750 Ti. Still getting good performance out of it.
@@garrett5071 nice my man, I'm currently using a i7 2600, 16gb ddr3 and gtx 1650.. im hoping to upgrade to an i7 8700 and 32gb ddr4, gna keep the 1650 for a while yet until gpu prices normalize.
It's sad that these low profile cards don't have more pleasant surprises to them. I love scratch-building PCs as tiny as possible, but it seems like I have to give up the ghost on low profiles and just start using PCIe extension cables to stick GPUs under the mobos.
I overclocked my Asus Radeon HD5670 1gb dr5 from stock 775MHz to 900MHz(max) and it runs really well (with intel core 2 quad q9300) (8gbRAM) i can play GTA V on normal 1024p with 30+ fps and i turned my fan on 58% it's pretty loud but it has a nice temp of 50avg most of the time :) i overclocked this card for over a year now and it's stil working, It's incredible that this card does not need a 6 pin power cable, Asus and Amd are great quality brands
If you still have the card, and still want to blow it up. You should strap an intel heatsink to the core and unlock voltage with bios flash. I'm sure you could get a hefty overclock with it.
That moment when you have a Radeon hd 5450
the feels
i have a 6670 meh :(
***** same here, i have a PNY GeForce 9600GT
***** Nah, I've tried overclocking a 6200 before, the screen went grey. I'm not risking it again.
***** but i wouldn't want to sacrifice it to play modern games.l
Took me a few seconds to emember what song is in the background but its the main menu music from Gran Turismo 3!!
***** Gran Turismo 4 you mean lol
***** I swore it was GT 3
Alex Nguyen I personally didnt like GT 3 as much as I liked GT 4, then again I think I had GT 4 before I had GT 3 when I was littler.
it was in gt4 as well
But 2 years ago i finish gta v and i like it most.and now i not like it!
That Gran Turismo 3 music in the background made me cry with nostalgia.

G6 Liara Eh, I prefer the actual system even though I know emulation is waaay better,
My poor analog stock is worn off already
As for me, I'm using an Xbox 360 controller, kinda great being wireless
I love you Tim. Even if you never make any videos again, you've changed/impacted my life for the better. Thank you mate.
I remember watching his videos for the first time like 5 years ago on a terrible laptop with broken hinges and now I have like ten computers with from all kinds of time periods. Still always excited when he uploads.
Agreed on all fronts, this channel is 100% a classic and wouldn't have made as many fun experimental builds if it wasn't for him.
I overclocked my 6450 and it started flying around the room! I couldn't catch it, it was so fast. When i did touch it once it was so hot my finger melted slightly. After about an hr it fell str8 outta the air and into the trash. Dont oc a 6450!
lol i had the same card fanless model and it did not like the oc and warframe game i was playing i think i made the card hit about 90'c
lmfao I'm dead
@Narkomancers turned the oc to as high as i could on everthink befor it crashed
@Narkomancers i used the amd tool with the safety stuff turned off if i remember correctly but it was allmost 6 year ago i did it so the software's properly changed makeing it harder to almost kill the card
The fucking Gran Turismo music makes this that much better.
Exactly!

No fire, no like
+Gorbaz The Dragon You need overvolting to make fire lol
hahahaha so funny
you want fire that's an easy fix spray some zippo lighter fluid on to the card and light her up and watch her try to run while on fire
I bought this card today!!!.......... Don't judge, it was $3 dollars. I couldn't resist buying it.

May have to sneak an RS tune everynow and then. Glad you liked it.

I'll send you my old one to see crossfire if you can
Xplosion51 i still have one 5450 Dishonored Medium 27fps
And now Gt 1030 Dishonored highest 102 fps
Ge force FX5500 is even more dreadful than the HD 5450 :)
You forgot the infamous Nvidia FX 5200
Please... Geforce MX 440!
Is it possible to overlock the FX5500?

isnt it as powerful as the ps3 gpu?
ps3 uses more like a hd5770
+juli5770 lol if it uses a 5770 then its pretty shit because my pc has one.
+komay of azur cpu is a factor as well
Keuzy very true but this gpu can run bo2 at 60fps on high settings and that is the same as the ps3, unless my cpu is just op ofcourse.
Far from it. PS3 uses a gimped 7800 GTX, in which its performance is similar to a 4770.
Been watching these older video of yours that I had not seen yet. Makes me want some new stuff for sure!!!
You set crysis 2 on high preset obviosly its not gona run well.
Crazy Tubex My Crysis 2 dosen't have a Medium or Low preset. It's only got High, Very High, Ultra and Extreme
Green Ham Gaming ha

I expected this video to end in fire. I am pleasantly surprised at the results.
thumbs up if you paused the video and made yourself a cup of tea

It was a piece of shit who cares
+Marcus Christensen damn dude wtf? who hell asked you? I never said it was good...besides I didn't care that it died for that exact reason.

It was a passive card, but alter strapping a fan to it, it was quite good to overclock.
I was able to push it to 640 MHz on the core and 440 MHz on the memory (stock was 375/350 MHz)
I haven't had any card that clocked this well since then.
Some times the lower end cards, especially when cooled passively can be quite impressive overclockers.
you just earnt a subscriber. great video mate!
Hey whoever is using this card, i tested this overclocking method on mine, i went to 770 mhz it was pretty amazing i played dead space 3 at 25 fps with some drops low shadows and a res of 1024*768, pretty bad i know, but when i clocked it to this frequency i got a solid 30 fps at a res of 1280*1024, i cant thank this bro enough because im stuck with this chip and i needed a boost like this, and whoever is in the same boat with me, go out there and play ds3 its great, my specs are
Cpu intel i5 3470 at 3.4
4gb ram
Gpu Asus hd5450
Also play games like prototype on here, but if you are experiencing lag, its mostly the bad optimization of the game, so dont feel bad
My laptop has a Radeon 5470 which is the same chip but with a stock clock of 750 MHz. Overclocking, I pushed it to 900 MHz before artifacts occurred. Had to bring it back to 880 MHz for gaming otherwise the I lose the display as well.
You know you love your job as IT Engineer when you are watching this vid drunk af on friday evening and having a blast
(That eventually burnt itself out)
Great Content without ads damn
Love the Gran Turismo music in this!!! 4 and 3's versions of Light velocity
(required a non-standard driver and forcing the overclocking functionality from desktop chips to activate.)
The thing is, overclocking (or even massively underclocking) the core frequency did almost nothing to gaming performance.
All the speed boost (or slowdown) came from altering the memory clocks.
That suggests the chip was seriously starved for memory bandwidth compared to what games expected graphics cards to be able to do...
Overclocking sometimes shows you weird things like that...
Omg I love that Gran Turismo music soundtrack! xD the memories lol
0:33 as an owner of that graphics card, i couldnt agree more with you. Yes it is a piece of shit.
You could add a fan over the heatsink to keep it cold, and make overvoltage by biosmod, doing that I think you could pass 800mhz
i agree...a better overclock can be done!!!!
This song reminds me of when I got a playstation 2 and got gran turismo 3 with it... used to play it everyday haha
I managed to pull out stable 870MHz core on mine. Asus HD5450 is different. It has PARK(Ati Mobility HD5470) core instead of CEDAR (like in normal HD5450). These are higher binned allowing for much higher clocks
That GT3 music was beautiful and earned my sub
Overclock an ATI Radeon HD 2400 and I'll really be impressed, I have one that came in a wimpy little Dell Optiplex 755 and the performance of the card leaves a whole lot to be desired.
I have one of these never used it once. bought it and never actually got around to using it.
oh yay, someone who enjoys pushing the limits of hardware like I do. This is the kinda shit I do on a daily basis before work. Subscribed.
wonder what it would go upto with a bit more voltage, overclocking crappier stuff can be quite alot of fun I reckon, subbing your channel
I overclocked a 250 gts from I think a 540 stock clock to 1310 mhz and it was very stable. It literally never crashed at this speed. I relegated it to Physx duty when I added a 275 gtx from ebay for cheap.
You know it’s an old video when you don’t hear Tomato Conveiance Store!
Oh my god, the gran turismo 3 music in the background. I played that when i was 7 >.< I'm 13 currently, much nostalgia :P
Still getting good performance out of it.
what are your specs today i wonder?
@@DAN.eight6 i5-6600K and a GTX 1080. Still playing WoW, with 1440p at 144hz.
@@garrett5071 nice my man, I'm currently using a i7 2600, 16gb ddr3 and gtx 1650.. im hoping to upgrade to an i7 8700 and 32gb ddr4, gna keep the 1650 for a while yet until gpu prices normalize.
@@garrett5071 i play nothing but assetto corsa atm . Srp is very cpu intensive hence why im after a system upgrade rather than gpu right now.
I had a 5450 once. It blew itself up, all on it's own, also messed up a motherboard.
During the Minecraft benchmark, what was the music playing? I recognized it from Grand Turismo for the PS2.
My 5450 is good for what I use it for. It's used in my media centre and works great 1080p with HDMI.
We have the same keyboard :)
Really great keyboard, had it for 5 years now and kept dropping it and sometime hitting it, and it still works perfectly.
you should have pumped as much voltage as possible through it
0:06 f**king gangrene foot on that marlboro red plain packaging got me again !!!!
It's sad that these low profile cards don't have more pleasant surprises to them. I love scratch-building PCs as tiny as possible, but it seems like I have to give up the ghost on low profiles and just start using PCIe extension cables to stick GPUs under the mobos.
i just bought an optiplex 745 off of ebay for $50 free shipping and it has 4gb of ram, 160gb hard drive, and comes with a 5450. not bad not bad
Isamu Ohira's gt3 menu music; I like your style very much!
"I wonder if this 5670 is good enough for Netflix."
*watches video*
"Outta work."
I love this guy.
I love The Gran Turismo music in the background
