There is a small mistake where I list under the specifications that it has GDDR5, it does not. This card utilised DDR3....Realistically though the card isnt even bandwidth limited with the use of DDR3 so even the GDDR5 Variant wont perform much better. Just a heads up. Not much of an issue, as you can clearly see it says DDR3 on the card. Also for those that dont understand the point of the video: If you have an older SFF PC, namely a Core2Duo/Athlon System then it makes for an ideal upgrade over the iGPU, as it can and will run a majority of newer titles with lowered settings. AAA Games from the 2012 Region, will also run in a HD Resolution with better Framerate than a PS3, so you sort of see the possibilities it opens up. The HD6450 however will NOT be worth it for any system using a remotely modern iGPU, or a Full Size (Non SFF) System, as you can just grab a GTX465 or something like that for the same price, which will completely destroy any performance this card has to offer. Tl;DR: Perfect for older SFF PCs if you want to do some gaming on a small budget, if you don't have an SFF buy a better full size GPU.

I think you might be the only TH-camr to actually go back and revisit these cheap low power options, to make sure they're a good buy. I might get one. Put it with a £5 C2D System. Bang Xbox 360 Performance for £15.
I’d also recommend the 1GB variant of the HD5450, I had that card paired with a C2D E7500 and used it as my main pc whilst mine was off getting repaired. It held up well, and for the games at the time that I was playing it definitely showed some impressive frame rates from something so cheap.

Why not use an HD 8570 or R5 240 instead? They are OEM cards that usually sell for around $20 on Ebay, have a 30W TDP, and have current driver support. I got an HD 8570 for a friend's kid so his Optiplex 755 could run Minecraft. I tried it in my system first and it ran Fortnite at 45fps on low settings at 720p. It also runs Minecraft at over 100FPS with default setting on the 755! The HD 7570 is also in this price range and has GDDR5 memory but the TDP is 60W and driver support ended in 2016.
smoked_out The GDDR5 version of the Hd 8570 is hard to find, more than twice as expensive (you can do a lot better for $45), and has a higher TDP (50w vs 30w from my research). My results were for the ddr3 version. There was no GDDR5 version of the R5 240. The R7 240 had a GDDR5 version but it's also hard to find, usually full height, and also at least twice as much. In the $20 price range and requiring it to work in a SFF PC you really can't do much better.

Nah, the poor mans gt 1030 is the hd 7570 or the 8570, I got a 7570 for $15 shipped and the next day I found a guy on r/hardwareswap giving an 8570 away for shipping cost.
yeah i had a 6570 and that was a huge improvement from the intel hd 2000 i had. Then I upgraded to a 1050 ti and now a 1060 6 gig (I have a ryzen 7 1700x)
I bought a card exactly like this for my dad's internet pc, and i does it's job fairly well, playing movies and things like that. I think the thing won't be replaced until it breaks, or the support for it will expire. At that time (6-7 years ago) , the card cost like 18GBP, and well worth the price.
Even F1 2015 stops at 800x600, which is the resolution I had to use on my laptop (and it ran abysmally to boot!). On my gaming PC with an i5-4460, 8GB DDR3 and a Zotac GTX960 (2GB) it gets over 60FPS on the highest settings. And that's at 1080p.

Considering it cost around £29 in early 2012 and had updates up to late 2016, this [at least the 1GB variant] is a great card considering it handles Fallout 3 & New Vegas quite well at medium settings in 720p, provided it's near a case fan.

VRAM doesent matter that much, realistically the HD7770 is only slightly less powerful (and in some cases more powerful) than the GT1030, regardless of the VRAM Present.

I used to have a Dell Radeon HD 6450 and ended up giving it to my friend. He was eventually able to upgrade to an actually decent gaming pc and when we took the 6450 out, we realized the heatsink had exploded and we never noticed.
Try this card on the latest AMD drivers! It’s actually possible to get unsupported cards to work on crimson and adrenaline drivers using some manual method of installation. Not suing this will fix it, but sometimes drivers themselves can optimize how the card handles its vram budget better. Neither CPU nor GPU were pegging out in intense modern titles. This screams issues somewhere ein the pipeline.. pair this with modern CPU and modern super fast DDR4 ram and the latest AMD drivers it may make this card more usable. Maybe able to get an extra bit more out of it where the GPU was like 80% load. Imma guess some areas get extra 10FPS and much smoother 1% lows if you try all that.

Just wanted to add some info that may help you with your testing when benching Fifa since I have seen this mentioned in several of your videos (not sure if somebody has pointed out this fix though), if you go to the control panel of the GPU drivers, enabling vsync (on/adaptive) fixes the stuttering and frame dips on replays. Hope this helps :)
This video card came with my first PC. I played many different games with it, like Path of Exile, The Sims 3, AC Revelations and the list goes on... Back in 2016, while I was playing Crysis 2 (720p low settings, around 40fps), it died on me lol. Seems like the fan on it stopped working due to dust or something, then it overheated and died. Nowadays I'm using Intel HD2000. Do I miss that little gpu? Kind of. I could at least play games with it!
Had one of these for the past 3 years because I'm cheap haha, its a nice card, it can struggle at times but if you go for some light gaming or major tweaks in triple a titles you should be good
I have a 6450 that I pushed to the max overclock just for fun... The limit was within MSi Afterburner, the card maxed the overclock limit in Afterburner. No doubt in the world I could probably double the clock speed on that sucker... I might have to find some hack to let me push it farther now...
Mine did only only 710 mhz on the clock with active cooling. I belive it was limited by the power delivery because the temp were in the 40-50 celsius, but the memory went up 970.

IMO, a used GTX 750 1 GB GDDR5 is the current budget sweet spot. A very solid performer. Though lately the prices have gone up a bit on ebay. Not sure why. Though this card is at a much different price point so it's not fair to compare them.
Got mine for a 15€ with shipping, for a HTPC for the living room. Emulates everything at 1080p starting at N64 and older. That in and of itself is great, but it also runs everything at 60fps 1080p from the PS2 era. PS3/Xbox 360 era games can also be played, but poorly (720p or lower, low settings, sub 30fps mostly).

I made the mistake last week of buying a cheap ($20 shipped) HD 7570 to replace the HD 5450 (I found for free a fan-less Asus model that OC'd like 50% better!) in my SFF Lenovo browser machine (the G2020 is decent though). But I did not realize the PCI-e x16 slot had such low limits.. 25 watts? So the 44 watt HD 7470 will not work.. system won't even boot with it installed. Crap- that would be an awesome SFF card if it worked as they are also cheap and low profile but 3x the graphical power of an HD 6450. Now I get to experiment with an x1 to x16 pci-e cable adapter (sata powered). Wish me luck. I want this little thing to play Crysis! lol. Heck.. GTA V...?

I had 1gb ddr3 version of this graphics card on a older computer that had only a 200w power supply, 8gb ddr2 6400 ram and amd phenom ii x4 955 95w tdp rev. c central processor unit. With 1GB of memory, there is a big difference in playing titles like gta 5, DirectX 10.1 at medium settings and fallout 4 on lowest (around 15-32fps). On Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, when installing a card, there is a problem setting up a graphics card driver because the latest version of the driver does not support the windows 7 64 bit version as it is recognized as a standard video adapter so it is difficult to find the online version of the driver because the graphics card is no longer supported and for that card is necessary to disable automatic driver updates. PowerColor R7 240 2gb ddr3 is slightly better choice for that price and if there is enough space in the computer case and adequate power supply.

I still use a xfx 9800 gtx. It's meh. Good for indie titles and games from around its day. Plays skyrim at medium/high at 30-50 at 1024/1028, vram limits it i think. Feels like it can do more.

Yeah but if you have a 2500 I guess you have it over locked to 4.5 or better GHz, your only bottleneck is sata 3, otherwise you should be fine. Make sure you have a good cooler, intel hates heat, amd live to be cooked.
this is basically the same setup as the PC i use when im in bed. (except that one has an i7-2600 in). It will run new titles at 1080p/60+fps/medium+ settings

I'm pretty sure if you go ahead and go some hard scrpting within GTA V you could queeze up to 40-45 fps. What makes me say that? I've bencmarked and tested GTA V a lot using an HD 7600M. Messing up with some graphic scrpits, I was able to squeeze it up to 75 fps (of course, the game didn't look pretty, but it was more than playable).
Of course Crysis runs. The HD 6450 performs around a mid-range card of the games release. And that is how the game actually runs on it. Would be interesting to see how the games would run on a CRT, without all the blurryness from TFTs. I remember a friend playing Fallout 3 on a HD 6450 a few years back. In my eyes it was smooth when he looked to the ground, but for him it was enough it seems. (felt like anything from 20-40 fps on the card) In his rig it was paired with an Athlon 64 X2 4200+, would say even for that CPU the card was a little slow.

Yea but always check if it's the GDDR5 (good) or DDR3 version (bad). Applies to both of these cards and the performance difference is quite big.

Could you do a review of a GT710, i would like to see what you get out of them
IMO, a used GTX 750 1 GB GDDR5 is the current budget sweet spot. A very solid performer. Though lately the prices have gone up a bit on ebay. Not sure why. Though this card is at a much different price point so it's not fair to compare them.
what is the liquid you use to clean the components inside your builds?
Got mine for a 15€ with shipping, for a HTPC for the living room. Emulates everything at 1080p starting at N64 and older. That in and of itself is great, but it also runs everything at 60fps 1080p from the PS2 era. PS3/Xbox 360 era games can also be played, but poorly (720p or lower, low settings, sub 30fps mostly).
Curious to see how the HD 7570 GDDR5 model holds up in 2018, would you consider doing a retest of one of those?

What graphics card would you recommend for a very cheap upgrade? I currently have an HD 6670 1GB GDDR3 and it just can't keep up with my needs. I'd like my games to run at 1080p lowest settings, but it can usually only do 720p, if that.
I made the mistake last week of buying a cheap ($20 shipped) HD 7570 to replace the HD 5450 (I found for free a fan-less Asus model that OC'd like 50% better!) in my SFF Lenovo browser machine (the G2020 is decent though). But I did not realize the PCI-e x16 slot had such low limits.. 25 watts? So the 44 watt HD 7470 will not work.. system won't even boot with it installed. Crap- that would be an awesome SFF card if it worked as they are also cheap and low profile but 3x the graphical power of an HD 6450. Now I get to experiment with an x1 to x16 pci-e cable adapter (sata powered). Wish me luck. I want this little thing to play Crysis! lol. Heck.. GTA V...?

I tested this card myself 2 weeks ago. It played Minecraft at a smooth 60fps, which was surprising. I though it would be worse.

I had a 6450 in my HTPC. It died at the same time as one of my 2tb HDD's.
The cause was never discovered....
a question, why is it GDDR5 versus DDR3 on this card has minimal performance impact, yet on the GT1030 going from GDDR5 to DDR4 resulted in 20% less performance?

The 1030 D4 Is cut down compared to the GDDR5 Variant, which was largely bandwidth limited in the first place
I had 1gb ddr3 version of this graphics card on a older computer that had only a 200w power supply, 8gb ddr2 6400 ram and amd phenom ii x4 955 95w tdp rev. c central processor unit. With 1GB of memory, there is a big difference in playing titles like gta 5, DirectX 10.1 at medium settings and fallout 4 on lowest (around 15-32fps). On Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, when installing a card, there is a problem setting up a graphics card driver because the latest version of the driver does not support the windows 7 64 bit version as it is recognized as a standard video adapter so it is difficult to find the online version of the driver because the graphics card is no longer supported and for that card is necessary to disable automatic driver updates. PowerColor R7 240 2gb ddr3 is slightly better choice for that price and if there is enough space in the computer case and adequate power supply.
Great test of a old gpu but could you try to run a gt 9600 in the games what you showed ,maybe run it aswell in SLI the cards cost 15€ on cex or about 20$ per card, i would like to see it because i only got 1 gt 9600 and well i cant find a 2nd one anywhere ,so could you do it?
Personally id look into a better GPU Than the 9600GT, and get one single GPU overall. It will work better

I still use a xfx 9800 gtx. It's meh. Good for indie titles and games from around its day. Plays skyrim at medium/high at 30-50 at 1024/1028, vram limits it i think. Feels like it can do more.
DropShotz Football thats cool ,i use still my gt 9600 (512)its good can run anything from 2008 to 2012 on high with 40 to 50 fps ,just vram is a issue because i started farming simulator 2017 on low and fs15 on medium and well thats what vram is to blame but i did get about 30 to 40 fps most of the time

I have a question. I have an i5-2500, GTX 1050ti, 16 GB DDR3, 2tb HDD/SSD hybrid. I gave it to the PC place to have it built/fixed. The 1050ti is actually new and I haven't used it yet. Am I able to run modern games? (This was my budget PC used from old PC parts and a cheap 100 dollar base.)
WolffeMC&More You should be able to run most if not all modern games on low or higher settings based on those specs
Yeah but if you have a 2500 I guess you have it over locked to 4.5 or better GHz, your only bottleneck is sata 3, otherwise you should be fine. Make sure you have a good cooler, intel hates heat, amd live to be cooked.
this is basically the same setup as the PC i use when im in bed. (except that one has an i7-2600 in). It will run new titles at 1080p/60+fps/medium+ settings

The original drivers for the HD 6450 aren't available anymore. It runs on HD7000 Series drivers.
So I have a GeForce3 500ti and it won’t go into my PCIE slot. Is there some sort of adapter that can will allow my Gpu to plug in?
It's an AGP GPU. There is no way to use it asside from with an AGP Board. As the only AGP->PCI-E Converters were experimental and did not work well.

Hey bro I got a new PC and it has an AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and a AMD Radeon HD 6450 2gb graphics card and I got a problem where when I start to play a game like GTA 5 or Euro Truck Simulator 2, the game would freeze and the sound would be looped until I restart or sign out my PC, do you know what might be causing this? Could it be some kind of compatibility issue? Thanks for the help :)

yes especially if you are playing newer games.
Have a check the fps of your game vs a more powerful cpu and see how much it bottlenecks

i5 7400 sounds like ok cpu for your gtx 1060. if you have the money go for it

The selling point of this card is UVD3 video decoder, it should handle 1080p60fps (may be 120fps) video decoding like a champ according to the paper
May be you can consider video decoding benchmarks on those cheap cards, i am really curious which one of GT520 or HD 6450 is better for h264 decoder. Vp5 vs UVD3. That way i can spare 1 dollar, lol. Jokes aside just curious.

I'm pretty sure if you go ahead and go some hard scrpting within GTA V you could queeze up to 40-45 fps. What makes me say that? I've bencmarked and tested GTA V a lot using an HD 7600M. Messing up with some graphic scrpits, I was able to squeeze it up to 75 fps (of course, the game didn't look pretty, but it was more than playable).
Of course Crysis runs. The HD 6450 performs around a mid-range card of the games release. And that is how the game actually runs on it.
Would be interesting to see how the games would run on a CRT, without all the blurryness from TFTs.
I remember a friend playing Fallout 3 on a HD 6450 a few years back. In my eyes it was smooth when he looked to the ground, but for him it was enough it seems. (felt like anything from 20-40 fps on the card)
In his rig it was paired with an Athlon 64 X2 4200+, would say even for that CPU the card was a little slow.
