Man i wish i had a teacher like you when i was learning. No yelling, no blaming. Just calm and relaxed directions. There needs to be a lot more teachers like you out there!
Absolutely. In class b/t yesterday and today was like a night and day difference because I learned from this guy's videos! My instructor wasn't as nice and patient and wasn't as good in explaining as this guy!
I'm currently in trucking school and my instructor is JUST like this dude. Calm and collected. Gives direction well and explains your mistakes without making you feel dumb. Yesterday was my first day on the road and watching this video and another video of how this man explains getting back into gear if you miss your next gear made me feel confident and less nervous the second time around. I did way better today than I did yesterday.
I can appreciate your patience and the time you take to teach your students to downshift. I get evaluated tomorrow and get nervous when it comes to downshifting.
Yes watching him teach shifting helped me figure out what I forgot. I’m back in the seat of a manual again and it’s coming back but this time it’s a 13 speed instead of a 10speed.
Mad props to the instructor… had a ton of patience, was very informative and made the student feel comfortable. Wish my instructors where the same way.
My shifting was good according to my instructor except i was grinding 4th and 5th like crazy to the point where my instructor said if you keep doing it we're going back to the yard and switching you to automatic. 😔 This was my first time driving too. I didn't complain or get discouraged just took a few deep breaths and kept at it. Turns out I was getting too comfortable letting my habits of driving a car into driving the semi. 🤭
I’m watching this to get a refresher on how to drive a 10 speed again since I haven’t done it in about 17 years and you are an EXCELLENT teacher.. you should definitely be running a school and you have a great temperament. Thx again!!
I had a real problem with shifting....once i realized i wasn't pushin thru wall and going into the right gear. After that everything was gonig in like butter...three days later i was starting to float them...great instructor very patient and encouraging
So amazing in teaching , the best tips ever , I never knew anything about shifting , now I can’t believe how better I’m getting with shifting , thank you so much Mr. Hunsell
This guy a is pro at driving and teaching. He makes the student feel confident and calm I have seen other channel and they act like you should know how to drive.
Its stressful sometimes i hear ya, but its a learning process, this guy is very patient though. I know, no matter how many time you going to explain things, the students will keep doing the same mistake again n again. It all comes with practice y’all take it easy and drive safe.
This guy I wish I had him as my teacher!! So positive and calm and patient. This lady is awesome!!! 👏 👏 best video ever!! Both the teacher and the student personalities and vibes match each other. I had HORRIBLE teachers!!
ace kings I WISH YOU WERE MY INSTRUCTOR! Im learning on a company 10 speed truck right now and all my guy does tell me i'm messing up the truck because its the only one we have right now. Love your videos and how nice you are to people.
He’s a good teacher I’ve seen these videos where the teacher gets mad at the student cause it’s there first time driving a manual or a manual in a semi
"We have student driver written on this truck don't we?" She's a legend. She's doing a good job too. She's like me. Once we get the nerves out the way we got it💯
Got my license got a job pulled out of yard and taught myself! 20yrs ago Did everything on my own. Knew about clutch less shifting bit just winged it! Didn't break anything and kept job!
Thanks so much for your video on downshifting. I go take my test in the next 30 days I was needing help on this , thanks again 🙏🏻 and May God bless you and your students and with safety 5-2-21
Looks like she's not double clutching at all. That might be part of her issue getting it to slip into gear. Her upshifts are probably only working cuz of the natural rpm drop.
I THINK ALL INSTRUCTORS NEED TO SEE THIS GENTLEMAN TEACH ESPECIALLY NETTTS IN RI. I PAID 10K TO GET REAMED AT EVERY TIME I STEP FOOT IN THE YARD. I WILL PUT A HURTING ON THE NEXT INSTRUCTOR THAT RAISES HIS VOICE AT ME.
Rok Major that’s right boss, Technically you rev just a little enough to keep the needle alive, not 15 rpm. but I like to give you more time to react. Just remember to Rev Engine with the clutch released (those 2 pedals don’t like each other , “gas and clutch”)
I appreciate the graphics added to show when gear was and wasn't hit. I go to school in a week and am ready as I can be. I am paying, so what will be the hardest part of the first year? I am looking at regional or local.
I'm in training now my 1 time with shifting gears. I got my class B and my permit for class A. I always drove a Automatic I'm willing to learn how to shift gears.
We where switched trucks and the shifter is difficult.literally....in the other truck we were pulled from i had nearly no problems shifting..i dont understand.even the instructor had difficulty shifting without the gears grinding.help me understand.because i feel this truck is not ok to test in.gears are literally like pulling USING MUSCLE....wthell....and the clutch is a hard push even...i dont get whats going on....but your videos help..i just feel set up for failure.when the other guys had this truck they did terrible then the switch of trucks and none of us are now doing well.im so lost.....
A couple of things to watch out for on every truck you try. 1: Figure out the level of the clutch ( different trucks have higher or lower clutch engagement) 2: Make sure your timing is less than 2 seconds from gear to gear(some truck's rpms die faster than others) 3: If you are double clutching, make sure you are releasing the clutch completely for every clutch (for the reason of tip #1 level of the clutch) 4: Make sure that truck's engine brake is not engaged (if equipped with it) 5: Clutch brake may be brand new on that truck, thus you were being forgiven by the last truck's wear of the clutch (don't clutch any beeper than level of the brakes to prevent the clutch brake) Hope this helps you improve your shifting. If I was there or If I can see you driving in a video, I can tell you right away what's wrong with your shift. Good luck
Dj Nathan start low if coming from complete start, maybe 2nd. If fully loaded and high hill, the start on 1st. While moving into a hill, use a lesser gear than the one you on right now and keep your rpms up close to 1,500 rpms.
Mista iLLuzioN//Tha TruckeR\\ sometimes you have no time to downshift. If you’re in high range 6-10, just before you come to a stop, put the splitter down and shift to your normal starting gear. I usually start in 2nd gear
Man i wish i had a teacher like you when i was learning. No yelling, no blaming. Just calm and relaxed directions. There needs to be a lot more teachers like you out there!
U right brother had same problem
Absolutely. In class b/t yesterday and today was like a night and day difference because I learned from this guy's videos! My instructor wasn't as nice and patient and wasn't as good in explaining as this guy!
My school had a calm teacher and a teacher that yelled, I learned better when the instructor yelled at me
Absolutely I agree

I can appreciate your patience and the time you take to teach your students to downshift. I get evaluated tomorrow and get nervous when it comes to downshifting.
I keep watching these types of videos knowing really well that I know how to shift a 10 speed. It’s crazy that all of us started like this lady.
Hes a great instructor !...I literally learned downshifting off of this alone !
You sir are awesome teacher! You make your studies comfortable !
Chris Cunningham thank you sir, hope this helps you
Many people may have the knowledge but not the skill to teach because teaching is an act of love.
Downshifting is the hardest thing I feel like but I’m getting the hang of it
My shifting was good according to my instructor except i was grinding 4th and 5th like crazy to the point where my instructor said if you keep doing it we're going back to the yard and switching you to automatic. 😔 This was my first time driving too. Thanks you helped me get a new job after being stuck In a automatic for 5yrs with no restrictions on my L's

Its stressful sometimes i hear ya, but its a learning process, this guy is very patient though. I know, no matter how many time you going to explain things, the students will keep doing the same mistake again n again. It all comes with practice y’all take it easy and drive safe.

Big Meezy Sauce quick advice, ask your trainer what are you doing wrong. If he don’t tell you, then maybe you should be teaching him.

Looks like she's not double clutching at all. That might be part of her issue getting it to slip into gear. Her upshifts are probably only working cuz of the natural rpm drop.

Great video!
Your an awesome teacher
Ingrid Davila thank very much, Your feedback is what keeps me going.
So when you miss a gear you rev it up to 15 then shift to the gear you missed
Rok Major that’s right boss, Technically you rev just a little enough to keep the needle alive, not 15 rpm. but I like to give you more time to react. Just remember to Rev Engine with the clutch released (those 2 pedals don’t like each other , “gas and clutch”)
thronic yes, here’s a more detailed guide th-cam.com/video/90FUmCWLoXM/w-d-xo.html
I appreciate the graphics added to show when gear was and wasn't hit. I go to school in a week and am ready as I can be. I am paying, so what will be the hardest part of the first year? I am looking at regional or local.
Thanks for your comments, Local will be hard to get until you gain enough experience. You can still find a good local job if you look hard enough.
Yes sir, I appreciate it, I suppose regional will be my best possible bet. OTR if I have no choice.

I'm in training now my 1 time with shifting gears. I got my class B and my permit for class A. I always drove a Automatic I'm willing to learn how to shift gears.

This guy is amazingly fabulous !!!!
that woman is admirable
The seat belt was giving her problems, does that truck have a comfort latch over your shoulder to hold a tiny bit of slack in the belt?
Good Idea 👍
Please, kindly send me the backing videos, and how to calculate when you are backing the truck,
Thank you
Thanks bro I’ll been learning a lot with this videos
Looking for backing and driving in very tight spaces like parking lots
Look for and keek daylight on both sides.

Am in Uganda i wanted to know which gear can i apply on hilly areas
Dj Nathan start low if coming from complete start, maybe 2nd. If fully loaded and high hill, the start on 1st. While moving into a hill, use a lesser gear than the one you on right now and keep your rpms up close to 1,500 rpms.
Super teacher
So can you technically stop in any gear ? Like for instance when coming to a stop sign..light..or abrupt traffic..is downshifting crucial ?...
Mista iLLuzioN//Tha TruckeR\\ sometimes you have no time to downshift. If you’re in high range 6-10, just before you come to a stop, put the splitter down and shift to your normal starting gear. I usually start in 2nd gear
