I noticed, when Junior lightened up, Steven's performance became better. Certain training doesn't work with all people. Some people can take things with a grain of salt, and other are sensitive and thin skinned. In this case, Steven is thin skinned, and strict training makes him nervous under pressure. I think, Junior would've gotten more out of Steven if, he would've just mellowed out, and let Steven do his thing. Let it flow. Trainers should recognize those traits in their trainees so, they can have better approaches.
Well said I noticed that as well also some times a little confidence boost like he did when Steven hit the gear I seen Steven light up and relax a little I would love to have a trainer like this guy he is very polite and respectful also very patient
He needed it, especially if you see the difference from the prior video to this. This guy was a mess the day before and this was a vast improvement, I give JH credit for getting him into shape as much as he had in this video.
U trippin the trainer wasn't treating the rookie wrong he was teaching him normally. He wasn't rude or putting him down. Y'all want him to baby the rookie and shit. This dude is fuckin wack he can't drive and I bet he washed out.
I’ve been blessed to train individuals to obtain their Class B and it was challenging, but so rewarding once they passed the skills tests and had their license in their hand. I’m getting ready to get my Class A and praying I get blessed with an amazing trainer. Steven you can do whatever you put your mind too. Stay focused on your goal and celebrate every little victory you achieve.
The more he shifts the right way the sooner he will develop muscle memory and shifting will come automatic with out thinking about. Thanks for the Video Brother,
That is really true... when i first started i always had to watch my rpm while figuring out whag gear i was in... now its like i hear the rpms without even looking i let go of the gas a little shift and bam next gear it becomes a habit after you drive all day every day
This dude remind me when i began to drive many moons back I remember when my instructor said to me stop señor!!! Stop señor !! I got so nervous that i almost end in a ditch ... now I've been on the road for 20yrs driving all kinds of transmissions. 98% of time on the road.
There is only one person who judge Steven and that is Junior. We only see a small part of the training. You can do it Steven. I really like the dry shifting drills, helps develop muscle memory. Lots more to driving than just driving. 😉
In my opinion the teacher sucked. The guy was nervous and all he did was micromanage him the whole time and not give him any truly relevant information.
I started hauling produce fresh out of trucking school and went OTR in a TEAM.. Luckily the dude that was assingned to teach me how things ran with that company gave me his patience humbleness and good work ethics.. i thank god that i got a chance to drive from L.A cali to Portland Maine on a dedicated route for 4 yrs straight.. I got to see the true beauty of this Nation.. I am now a Local driver in the city of Angels and miss the OTR life.. God bless all the truckers out there !!!
In the past I would've agreed with some of the comments that people are saying about him being to hard on him and that making him to nervous, but after going through training and having someone just like him, it actually really helped me. And I've trained several students now and it's a completely different ball game sitting in the passenger seat and letting a student control the truck and will work on your nerves lol. So keep doing what you do man and good job!!!
Watching this trainee's journey taught me ALOT, thanks Junior I start at Prime tomorrow. I have strong confidence; I'm going to impress my trainer & get my CDL first try. Keeping your mindset in mind.
You bet..but it's me who thanks you because I've already learned so much from watching your vids. Thank you for taking the time, dude. I only hope my partner is as patient as you.
im going to truck driving school and this is helpful to me .. would of been easy to show a more accomplished student, but this is great cause it shows how much concentration is needed.. and thanks for the instructors patience's to help the student..
When I first started learning how to drive a truck my dad was on my ass. I'm very thankful now looking back because he didn't cut me any slack while teaching me how to drive. It made me a much better driver on the road. I like your teaching method Junior. Keep it up!
I hope he does well, I know learning a new skill can be frustrating and terrifying . I did notice he doesn't look right as much as he should, but that's just what I see, you're the true judge. Love your style Junior, stay on top of him, I'm sure he'll get it.
Watching this one I realize u really need to get it right to get juniors positive reactions, earn it. I'm watching all these videos, meeting with a CDL instructor in the morning to talk about getting accepted in his class.
I am 37 years old I thought I was to old to learn how to drive a truck but after watching your videos it got me more and more interested that I am currently studying to try and test and get my temporary permit thank you for your videos
These have been the most frustrating video's to watch. You have patients, you really do. I am working on getting my CDL-permit. I would join Prime just to have you as instructor.
Heck yea Steven that downshift was nice! you getting there. Listen to the engine itll let you know when to shift, remember your gear pattern and if possible palm the shifter up (upshift) finger down (downshift) it helped me. GLAD TO SEE YOU GETTING IT BRO JUST TRYNA HELP ALSO
junior you are a great behind the wheel instructor.. I've drove a tour bus 1983 h3 forty foot 6 gears but it took awhile for me to learn shifting..aka double clutching but when it clicked in my head it was like that first girl that did it right.. I've driven in wrightwood.. mountain high.. Idlewild..most of southern cal mountains.. Big bear..etc via crown school bus or provost..provost don't make manual transmissions anymore...all that too say I like the videos and it's got thinking about truck training/driving..im are longshoremen and we like brothers @ my port! Having extra skills such as truck driving won't hurt.. your videos bring back memories when I was driving a school bus in 1992
This has got to be the most anticipated episodes of TH-cam. Good job fellas. Way to go Steven on that up shift, I feel like we just learned something together..lol proud off you homie.....both off you.... can't wait for the next video....
This is only his sixth day dam i wasn't much better takes time to get it. Im in Schneider's training course now learning how to skip shift. Lots of ppl commenting here i can tell have never driven a truck or you would know just how much of a learning curve there is
You the man Junior! The only thing that would be cool is if you had a split camera facing straight so we can see you guys and the road ahead. Watching these videos give me more appreciation of the hard work you truckers do! Much appreciated!
You're a good teacher! He definitely needs a good teacher, he looks super super nervous driving and doesn't seem to really pay much attention to where his trailer is
This kid doesn't know how lucky he is to have a trainer like you. Haha. If he had almost anyone else they'd be chewing him out. Keep up the good work guys and please be safe.
junior is showing way too much frustration at times, which makes any new driver nervous yelling and getting upset is no way to ever teach a human being you have to keep the driver calm and relaxed as much as they possibly can be at all times that’s how you stay safe everyone learns differently be Patient these things take time practice and dedication stay safe out there y’all
A trainer shouldn’t b chewing out shit, they ain’t nothing but a trainer. If you’re training someone Their obviously new. If u don’t have patience dont be a trainer.
Your a good teacher,Junior...definately gave this guy plenty of attention, and warnings...I was nervous for you,not gonna lie..wish I had you for a instructor..
Been watching all of your videos and I gotta say you’re a great teacher, Sir. I’m going to school in a couple of weeks and I hope to have an instructor as patient as you.
He's real young and still has the mind of a young adult who says he's got it,(arrogant) put on the spot his mind wonders and goes into a panic state almost... needs to focus, go to bed early and wake up refreshed and ready to do it all over and over again...early bird gets the worm.
Oh, so it's not looking good. right? Judgemental people acting like the personally know him. I guess yall didn't make any errors?? Anyway, if you read the comments young man good job, practice make perfect or I'll say makes you skilled. I'm sure Junior starting out was as good as he is now.
Junior Honduras I love how Honduras asked him how he knew he was gonna let him in.. Cuz that's some assumption people so while driving …me too and we end up causing unexpected scenes.. So I love this. I'm a fan...
Steven has the best trainer he could ever hope for. Steven needs to be able to multi-task when driving. That includes up and down shifting, checking your mirrors, using your turning signals, and do exactly what Junior is telling him to do.
Junior Honduras Hi junior . I’ll be out of truck driving school next week . Ill be watching your videos and they had help me a lot . Thanks and god bless you!!
You're the perfect teacher for him. I hope Steven realizes how lucky he is. He'll definitely get the hang of it. This is probably the hardest shit he's ever done. Good job.
Stumbled upon your videos and they are good junior! One trucker to another I gotta give you credit for being so calm with him and explaining things so blatantly clear to him. If he couldn't get it with you I don't know if he will ever get it and I'm not trying to be mean because the average guy would have let him drive a mile and said I'm sorry I'm not training you. I was sacred shitless for you just watching the video lol. Stay safe on the road!
I'm getting stressed out by this and I'm not even driving. I think the constant instruction is a little much but I don't know. I'm sure they are both stressed. Thanks for posting this.
Dammm junior you was in my state man I worked off of 81 for YRC FREIGHT I would have love to meet you man. I watch every video you post. Your a good hard ass instructor you play no games. Don't change it I only been driving since aug 2016 and keep teaching him everything you know some students you have to beat it into them til they catch on.
Steven it may seem like junior is a bit hard on you but he only wants you to be the best you can be. My trainer was the same very anal about the little things and after riding with a few other guys I work with now I'm glad my trainer was hard on me especially about shifting and keeping rpms down.
I just binge watched all of Steven's video... you're a great trainer and i hope Steven got it down pat. I'm trying to get as much info i can before doing my lessons. Great videos my man!
I’m thinking about getting my CDL and I came to TH-cam to see what’s up. I don’t think I’ll have issues with shifting at all. I’m worried about taking those wide turns and really worried about backing up/backing into those bays to get loaded
A Great instructor. the kid is Lucky to have you. He Scares me when he looks down at the clutch. he just gotta get use to doing it more. you'll doing a great job.
In a bus.. if you match rpm and rode speed I've experienced that going into the next gear from neutral it sucks in that next gear if you just lay it on the gear your going to go too! I don't know if truck do the same...and when I got it..I started using my palms more.
some people catch on quickly some don't ...right now he hasn't put the formula together...to do everything in rhythm...it could be today tomorrow but before he get back to test out...Steven i got faith in you ...walk away from junior at a stop ...play every thing over in your head he says watch ya mirrors rpms clutch in clutch out ..watch ya trailer...don't hesitate...everything on repeat...if u don't break u got it....junior that young man is a mellow operator...ya be safe God bless
I just wanted to see how a trainer trains on these big rigs. Very interesting. Steven is doing a good job, keeping his cool and getting onto whatever his trainer mentions. Thanks for putting vids out there so people can SEE what it takes to drive a truck!
Junior, How did you get started in this business? I have been on the road for over 30 years and you are by far one of the better, if the not the best trainers, I have ever known of.
Your shirt should say "This guy is a fantastic trainer." Hats off to you. I would be a nervous wreck. You're cool as a cucumber. No doubt the student will get better with your instruction.
Jr you probably don't remember this screen name, lol. The one who said R.I.P clutch. Anyways, love the passion you have on your trainees and the determination you're teaching and pushing someone to show/prove they can do it.! You're a good person with a big heart and I appreciate what you do. Keep him focus and keep him in shape my brotha. 👍 I'll catch ya later on the backhaul ✌
I remember learning on my friends truck a Freightliner Century, the first time i drove it was driving from Chicago to Toledo while driving down the highway we switched seats at 63mph the cruise was set at and that was my very first time behind the wheel of a big rig my friend set with me for about 10 minutes and went in the bunk to sleep i was scared shitless but i drove for about an hour and a half and came to the tolls on I-80 i could not get the truck going again i just kept stalling it, finally he got up and started driving. I didn't even have a permit for a truck
Love the way you teach and train always there at the moment ..... “From great power comes the great responsibility “ thats what he needs to learn.... since you’re the teacher so I aint worry about it... he will get it... much appreciate your time and effort for the videos.... stay safe...
JR I don't know how you do it man. I am all tense just watching. To sit there in the passenger seat like that, having limited control takes some big big balls.
I'll be driving with my mentor in about 4 days I'm a newbie. (I chose automatic, I have great respect to the ones that chose manual but I'm sorry like most students it was a one-way trip, sink or swim. And I wanted less of a learning curve is possible) but I'm actually happy to see that the mentors still help you out on your weaknesses an alley dock is definitely one of mines.
months?? Im currently going to CDL training school and only drove about 3 hrs and my instructor wants me to take the driving test already jaja he is crazy
I haven’t watched any videos after this one but some people got it and some people don’t when it comes to driving and never will no matter what, not tryna be mean but this guy is one of those that will never have it
What most of ya'll don't understand is that as a person driving an automatic for years and started to drive their first manual is not a piece of cake. It takes time but a little aggressive training does help and if you see that man progressing give them some lead way to learn. I'm not saying baby him buy all that spit flying has to slack up you dig....
hey junior honduras grittins from hollister CA from an chapin ... I been whaching most of your vid and you did a great job bro . its not easy to have a person on the driver site whom doesn't know even how to shift on gears or even using the splitter. not even whatch his mirror to see where his tail at in General all about. i was nervise when he its looking for the gears and don't pay attention to the road I goes like WHATCHAO VOS !!! bro i know how you feel but you an tough guy ... but we all know that that is the only way an student be come a profecional driver CLASS A i do love it its hard stressfull and somethimes you just wanna park on the side of the road and get away from but the secret its ... PACIENT and do it againg and agai ng and agiang and keep going and. one of good thing i saw from you its ..when they do something good. you congratulate them that's a good complement for sure they apreciate that.. and at the end they will be a real trucks drivers thank you catracho keep it chief
+Javier R Flores hey what's going on. I'm here just trying to figure out how im going to do next video and I have been busy as well. They got me running non-stop so its a good thing. Gracias por preguntar mi hermano se le agradece mucho 👍👍😎con cuidado
Hey junior I had to retake my cdl class A test twice because my permit expired I'm only 21 if I can do it he can too just have to put in the effort iknow how to float my shifts and how to downshift properly good luck Steven
Your getting better Steven, keep doing the practice shifting every chance you get, relax and listen to Jr, I think your doing better and will be fine I really think you n Ed to have a little more confidence in yourself tho just my opinion, I think if you keep telling yourself i got this it will make it easier, and Jr as always your doing great 👍 both of you drive safe and be safe, keep it rolling and have a great day
Hey, junior I think you forgot to tighten up the camera. Lol. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to do this. Maybe things will change in the future and you will be able to continue making this type of video.
tellm to forget about that clutch , and junior keep getting on him about them mirrors ,you just can't stress how important it is to watch them mirrors , and remember when you miss a gear going up hill , don't stay there trying to get in the hole drop it back into the hole you took it out of , but you really got to work on them mirrors , there's no time for all that day dreaming buddy , And stay away from that back row at them truck stops , lol
Makes me be thankful for driving an automatic. But the whole driving my trainer told me, your tractor doesn’t matter, it will clear everything mostly it’s that extra 60 ft behind you that you have to worry about. It really is difficult in the beginning but you just have to keep in mind that your trailer is the thing that matters.
he remains me of my self when i start driving, i was sooooo nervous and the doble clutch it just to kill me hahahahaha, he will get this he has a good mentor
Junior Honduras + not necessarily , you can take the drive test without double clutching, as a matter of fact , you ain't got to use the clutch when your driving with the guy at the dmv, at least not in California , but make sure you ask the instructor if he wants you to double clutch it , shit changes all the time
I am still learning but if i am going straight i dont need to look at my trailer every 10 seconds that is more time not looking at the road that is why he keeps telling him to stay in his lane
All I know is when I go through my CDL I be damned if my trainer talks to me like I’m stupid. At the end of the day you was a rookie once. They’ll have me all types of fucked up, you have to be patient. At the end of the day we’re all adults
using the engine to help you break is not a bad thing as long as your keeping the RPMs under the redline, like coming into a 35mph corner at 150mph you need to shift 6 to 5th, break, and right to 4th from 5th, and down to 3rd to hit that corner at 65-75 mph otherwise your going off
I noticed, when Junior lightened up, Steven's performance became better. Certain training doesn't work with all people.
+chris barnett 😂😂😂 I really appreciate it. Thank you 👍😎
I'm getting stressed out by this and I'm not even driving. I think the constant instruction is a little much but I don't know. I'm sure they are both stressed. Thanks for posting this.
Steven is gonna be ok. Its a huge adjustment for him. Let's keep encouraging him. Good luck Steven. I'll see you on Cabbage Patch real soon.
You’re a great teacher junior!! I wish more were like you
he looks overwhelmed!
He seems like this is his first manual vehicle he is driving. It will be overwhelming
Sure does lol that job isn't for him.
crazy4baja he’s learning he’s not going to be perfect
@@zackarymcnally1589 he will be just fine need patience when you teaching not everyone is knows things and get this in the first time
Steven it may seem like junior is a bit hard on you but he only wants you to be the best you can be. My trainer was the same very anal about the little things and after riding with a few other guys I work with now I'm glad my trainer was hard on me especially about shifting and keeping rpms down.
+Erik Wassabii Sparks Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
I just binge watched all of Steven's video... you're a great trainer and i hope Steven got it down pat. I'm trying to get as much info i can before doing my lessons. Great videos my man!
Did you ever get it?
I’m thinking about getting my CDL and I came to TH-cam to see what’s up. I don’t think I’ll have issues with shifting at all. I’m worried about taking those wide turns and really worried about backing up/backing into those bays to get loaded
He's doing good, keep up the good training Junior... Great Job!
Thank you very much 😀
it takes practice Steven, we all had our own problems as students. keep at it bro
+James Collins Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
A Great instructor. the kid is Lucky to have you. He Scares me when he looks down at the clutch. he just gotta get use to doing it more. you'll doing a great job.
In a bus.. if you match rpm and rode speed I've experienced that going into the next gear from neutral it sucks in that next gear if you just lay it on the gear your going to go too! I don't know if truck do the same...and when I got it..I started using my palms more.
+Reggie Anderson 👍👍
some people catch on quickly some don't ...right now he hasn't put the formula together...to do everything in rhythm...it could be today tomorrow but before he get back to test out...Steven i got faith in you ...walk away from junior at a stop ...play every thing over in your head he says watch ya mirrors rpms clutch in clutch out ..watch ya trailer...don't hesitate...everything on repeat...if u don't break u got it....junior that young man is a mellow operator...ya be safe God bless
I just wanted to see how a trainer trains on these big rigs. Very interesting. Steven is doing a good job, keeping his cool and getting onto whatever his trainer mentions. Thanks for putting vids out there so people can SEE what it takes to drive a truck!
Steven young blood don't get discouraged young blood we been there even your trainer,
Junior, How did you get started in this business? I have been on the road for over 30 years and you are by far one of the better, if the not the best trainers, I have ever known of.
I will learn this just by watching these videos one way or another!!
Good job Steven you’re learning with an excellent instructor!!
Reminds me how often my trainer says "watch your trailer"
Your shirt should say "This guy is a fantastic trainer." Hats off to you. I would be a nervous wreck. You're cool as a cucumber. No doubt the student will get better with your instruction.
Junior, it's good seeing you guys rolling....keep up the good work.
It's all about power & control with this trainer. He doesn't have the character or the patience.
It’s awsome watching your videos great tips and etc I’m 19 and going to be starting my first day in class this week wish me luck
The instructor is on-point, making sure Safety is adhered to.
Love the way you teach and train always there at the moment .....
“From great power comes the great responsibility “ thats what he needs to learn.... since you’re the teacher so I aint worry about it... he will get it... much appreciate your time and effort for the videos.... stay safe...
If yall come back through Shreveport you should stop by Diesel Driving Academy right off I-20.
+Billy Jezek Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
JR I don't know how you do it man. I am all tense just watching. To sit there in the passenger seat like that, having limited control takes some big big balls.
I'll be driving with my mentor in about 4 days I'm a newbie. (I chose automatic, I have great respect to the ones that chose manual but I'm sorry like most students it was a one-way trip, sink or swim. And I wanted less of a learning curve is possible) but I'm actually happy to see that the mentors still help you out on your weaknesses an alley dock is definitely one of mines.
took me months too get the shifting down to a science.
+Bishop but you got it. Thank you 👍😎
Wats ur number bro?
Bishop yep it took me a couple to few months but it’s not hard once you understand it’s just the opposite of upshifting.
Hes getting it!! Just keep learning Steven!!
+BennyBoombatz Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
thats what he needs, told when hes good. positive reinforcement. he just seems nervous.
+Nickolas Keys Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Hi
Fuck you
gay
Big respect for that student. I'm a student too. This things isn't that easy.
hey junior honduras grittins from hollister CA from an chapin ...
+Cesar Coronado I really appreciate it man and thanks for watching 👍👍
Where you at junior ? You doing alright we haven't heard from you?hope everything's ok hermano
This guy is a good instructor, I'm taking notes. Thanks for the upload.
doing a lot better than the first day driving :)
+Mark D Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
+justapasinthru1 Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Makes me be thankful for driving an automatic. But the whole driving my trainer told me, your tractor doesn’t matter, it will clear everything mostly it’s that extra 60 ft behind you that you have to worry about. It really is difficult in the beginning but you just have to keep in mind that your trailer is the thing that matters.
You are so patient... You're great! Love your videos
he remains me of my self when i start driving, i was sooooo nervous and the doble clutch it just to kill me hahahahaha, he will get this he has a good mentor
+mynor caballeros Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
+angel Flores The double clutching is for testing purposes and is required by the state. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Junior Honduras + not necessarily , you can take the drive test without double clutching, as a matter of fact , you ain't got to use the clutch when your driving with the guy at the dmv, at least not in California , but make sure you ask the instructor if he wants you to double clutch it , shit changes all the time
+justapasinthru1 that's not the case here in Springfield, MO. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
orale 1o-4
I know he's going to get it but I have to tell you hold the stirring, you are not pimping.
oh man that poor kid. hopefully he understands the great teacher he has.
+David Andersen I really appreciate it. Thank you 👍😎
hey Junior! you are a good trainer man! good work with training Steven! :)
+Gertjan Buijtenhuis Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
I am still learning but if i am going straight i dont need to look at my trailer every 10 seconds that is more time not looking at the road that is why he keeps telling him to stay in his lane
All I know is when I go through my CDL I be damned if my trainer talks to me like I’m stupid. At the end of the day you was a rookie once. They’ll have me all types of fucked up, you have to be patient. At the end of the day we’re all adults
Congratulations Jr. You good teacher man..
using the engine to help you break is not a bad thing as long as your keeping the RPMs under the redline, like coming into a 35mph corner at 150mph you need to shift 6 to 5th, break, and right to 4th from 5th, and down to 3rd to hit that corner at 65-75 mph otherwise your going off
