    I loved the insight of considering these teachings in a light of what they had just experienced! They were experiencing the blessing of seeing the Savior... because they mourned, were humble, obedient, merciful, and hungered after righteousness. It gives me hope and direction to know that if I continue faithful, I too, can survive the turmoil that we are experiencing now. It's walking the covenant path with Christ that matters. It's being a peacemaker that matters. I don't need to get caught up in the contention and divisiveness of our day. The only side I need to take is Christ's.

      You are so right! The contention can be avoided as we focus on Christ!

    How wonderful to be able to have the words and teachings of our resurrected Saviour. I am so grateful for how Heavenly Father blesses me by somehow through today’s technologies I have been able to receive these truths that help me grow with greater understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of the things you are sharing I’m growing stronger in my relationship with Christ, in my testimony and understanding of the importance of living a more celestial life. May we all continue to be blessed and prepare for the return of our Lord and Saviour.

    I think we can see God in many different ways. We may not be ready for a face to face visit, but we can feel the Spirit, hear and live God's words, learn from others who represent Him doing His work, and see His Hand in every tender mercy.

      That is so well said. There are so many ways to experience God, and we sometimes forget to see it in our interactions with others.

    Two things from these chapters feel very relevant for me. First in 12:29-30 the reminder to choose only those thoughts that are fully clean and good. There is so much to be entertained by in this world but it is not all fully clean. Some can seem "harmless" to me but that little bit that was maybe questionable is all satan needs to begin to lead me astray. So even though choosing to go without the fun things can feel like a cross I am far better off when I allow only truly good things into my mind. I am sure the Nephites were aware of this after seeing the destruction of those who had sought worldly pleasure.
    Second in 13:8,32 the reminder that God knows my needs and will provide for me. I should not fear. Have faith that God is in the details and His timing is good. ❤ Thank you for another wonderful episode! I loved the part about turning and coming. Both are invitations that show how much Christ loves us!❤

    We were just talking yesterday about how we understand some things differently now than we did previously. I love your explanation that we are in an ongoing restoration and that God, through His Prophet, is giving us clarifying information that helps us to understand so much more than before.
    This was an exciting discussion today. Thank you for your efforts in our behalf!

    I love this statement by your guest: "What a shame if we let imperfections or perceived imperfections in Mormon or Moroni or modern church leaders drift between us the son, Jesus Christ and obscure the light from our lives!"
    Yes, what at shame!

    The thing that gives me peace in this day is spending as much time as I can in the temple and finding my ancestors

    I love that when the Savior visits the Nephites, that in His sermon at Bountiful, He reiterates the Sermon on the Mount. We know that by the mouth of two or three witnesses shall all things be established. His sermon in Bountiful affirms, strengthens and solidifies the sermon on the mount as more than mere words of wisdom casually taught on the side of the hill. It is more than just wise counsel and interesting musings. It is an integral part of the fulfilling of the Law of Moses. It is new doctrine that was introduced to usher in the higher law of love, given directly from the mouth of our Savior. This is not a directive that can lightly be brushed away. This is doctrine that when followed will bring the blessings of happiness and joy, and lead you to eternal life. Jesus finishes His sermon by telling the Nephites, "ye have heard the things which I taught before I ascended to my Father". He was telling them this is an additional witness to this new doctrine and that this is important.

    One thing that has come to mind, as I have been studying these chapters, is that those who first encountered the Savior were at the temple. They were in a holy place not despite their circumstances, but because of it. We dont know why they were there or how often they went, but they were prepared for the bridegroom. I have found that "when upon life's billows I am tempest tossed, when I am discouraged thinking all is lost..." I need to keep going to the temple.
    Another thought Ive had about chapter 12 is the first part seems to tell me the Christ-like attributes I need to develop. The latter part tells me the things I need to do to attain them.

      @TheScripturesAreReal  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Such great stuff. And they intertwine, the temple and the development of Christlike attributes. Well said!

    I also find interesting that in chapter 15, in one breath Jesus says that He is the light, and in the next, tells His disciples that they are a light unto this people... Just a plug for conference this weekend.. listen intently to our Prophets and Apostles. They bring the light that is our Savior. And as we exemplify and emulate our Savior, we can reach out to our brothers and sisters in our neighborhoods and wards and branches, and share that light as well. Be a disciple of Christ and help lift those around you. Do something nice for someone this week.

    I’ve found what works best for me is to listen to each episode then read the scriptures that go with the podcast. Unless I actually read the scriptures and not listen to them to get the most out of the lesson. Most times I will listen again to the podcast because I always get more out of it and what I just read the second time.

    Love your podcasts. A comment was made about how we live here determines the kind of body we will have in the resurrection, along with where we will live and who we will live eternally with. What does this mean referring to the body? I thought all would be resurrected with a perfect body except for the sons of perdition. Are you able to clarify this?

    • @TheScripturesAreReal
      @TheScripturesAreReal  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't claim to fully understand this, but it would seem (I can't be sure), that there is a different body as part of having eternal increase, etc.

    2:04 Rob cites his and Joseph Smith's appreciation for nature and how it points to our Creator.
    "...all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator." --Alma 30:44
    Then why does BYU teach that a single-celled organism transitioned into H. sapien through an exclusively unguided naturalistic process? Apparently at BYU nature doesn't point to God.

    • @TheScripturesAreReal
      @TheScripturesAreReal  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I don't know that all of BYU says this, but there are some there who do. I know some think that God using single cell organisms to grow into all sorts of beautiful creations is a sign of God working beautiful things, and others think it couldn't have happened that way. Fortunately, both focus on the key element, the first four words of the Bible: "In the beginning, God." As long as we focus on God being the creator, then it will work out.

    No wondering abput why they were all gathered at the temple , they were prolly celebrating one of the Jewish feasts aka holiday..either passover or Day of atonement? It's like us getting together twice a yr for general conference.

      It is likely they were celebrating something along those lines, though they knew the Law of Moses had been fulfilled at this point. I am curious to know more about this.

      @@TheScripturesAreReal did they really know the law of Moses was fulfilled? Jesus had not appeared to them yet, so why wouldn't they not continue to celebrate/recognized the feasts/ appointed times

      @@sherielink601 In 3 Nephi 9:19 they hear the Savior saying the Law is fulfilled. The question is what did that mean to them? Would they have interpreted that as meaning that they didn't need to celebrate the festivals? Even if they understood that they didn't have to, would they still out of tradition? We just don't know. That is why I think it is very possible they were there in some kind of festival gathering.
