The Sacrament is such a wonderful and important ordinance that we get to partake in each week. One thing that I like to do when I conduct the meeting, during the transition between ward business to the Sacrament, is to invite our members to focus on the words of the prayers offered over the bread and water and ponder about what they mean and how we can remember our Savior this week. I think it's a great opportunity to invite reverence into our meeting and the ordinance.

Thank you, dear brothers Muhelstein and Tanner for teaching us how our hearts can be knit together in Christ.
I marvel at His Grace symbolized as we each take the sacrament.
One holds the tray for me and I get to hold it for another. Freely we receive and freely we serve eachother in this way ❤

I also like that the Savior invites them to hold up their light in chapter 18. If we connect this back to chapter 15, when Jesus tells His disciples that they are a light unto this people.. perhaps Jesus is inviting the people to sustain their leaders and each other in the work of God. Elder Rasband gave a great talk this conference on what it means to sustain.

As I was pondering who I would go get and bring to Christ to be healed, several people came to mind. As I thought about how I could bring them to Christ, I thought about the power of partaking of the sacrament with them. I was grateful for your testimony that healing does come through the sacrament. I have loved thinking about the connections between the sacrament and 3 Nephi 17 and 11. So many parallels to ponder about coming to Christ and being healed through his atoning sacrifice.

I love the discussion on the sacrament, but my favorite part of this discussion is the thought that Christ is not going to prevent us from getting wet, but if we are built on Him as our rock, we will not be washed away by the rain. So good!❤

Thank you brothers for your faithful discussion. I do feel with partaking of the Sacrament that the Lord is protecting those not worthy from accountability that might have to be faced.
For me chapter 17 has references to Jesus casting His eye about, seeing and feeling their needs, from which came along with many blessings, unspeakable privileges. Sister Burton invited this by inviting us to first observe then serve.
Your discussion helped me in many ways, what came for me was an added appreciation for the spiritual life that partaking of the Sacrament gives to my soul. It helped me appreciate the Heavenly nourishment it brings as a gift from my living Christ. I feel very much my need for my Savior's help, thanks for helping me remember that.
It is my understanding that none of us would be growing, becoming, attending church without the Sacrament, we would lose the Spirit, and wander off from our Savior and cease to grow in His life giving light.

It’s our willingness not our ability. My favorite part today! I’ve been struggling with a few self doubts and frankly, that scares me! I’m fully aware of the rabbit holes those thoughts can take us down. But I found peace this morning as I listened to your thoughts on willingness not ability. I might not be that person who makes gingerbread houses for all the grandchildren and then some but I can be willing to do what I can with the ability that I have and do it from the heart. I’m reminded that the Lord loves effort and I’ll put my faith in that. It’s actually something I have always known and taught but self doubt has a way of casting a mist of darkness over truth. Thank you for taking time to discuss “willing”.

@@marilynjensen8096 I love this! We often look sideways and compare our abilities with others. But God gives us each our own! I've found when I serve with my own strengths I'm much more effective than when I'm trying to be like someone else.

@@elizabethpeterson9914 I probably applied “willing” a little different than it was intended but it is what struck me at the time. But I have pondered about the willingness to take upon us the Sacrament covenants and what that means since posting my comment.

Wanted to comment generally on your podcast, Kerry. I love the "deep dives", your approach to thoroughly discussing particular passages of scripture. My time is limited and I pray to be led to what I most need to the best sources of learning FOR ME. Your podcasts are feeding my soul and deepening my scriptural understanding. Thank you!

“…this shall ye do in remembrance of my body, which I have shown unto you.” (3Ne18:7). As I read this verse this time around, I noticed that the Savior is being very specific about “which” body to remember: the Nephites are witnessing a wounded but resurrected body. Definitely something for me to keep in mind. The Savior is inviting us to look forward with hope to the Resurrection in spite of the incredible suffering that we also might be going through. Through Him we can overcome.

When I think of the angels ministering to the children, I think, these are little kids. They've been there all day. They are tired and hungry. There are probably little ones crying. How do nursery leaders minister to children? They feed them. They hold them in their laps and tell them stories. They comfort and rock them. They pray with them. I like to imagine that these angels were doing many of these same things.
Also, regarding the sacrament: I really loved the idea you introduced about witnessing being a public thing. It's so obvious but I've never thought about it before. Of course you can't witness in private, you must witness to someone else. Thanks for all the good you do.

I recently came upon a TH-cam comment from someone who had a real issue with tithing, along the lines of: The dead can be saved without paying it, but if the living don’t pay it, they’re doomed.
I felt impressed to share my testimony about membership and what it means to me, even though I knew it might not be well received.
    But it actually was.
And in the days since that dialogue (including some of his questions I couldn’t offer answer for-especially not on that platform), membership has taken on a deeper level of meaning for me: I pay a tithe because I am part of the work of the Church in such a REAL sway. I serve in callings because I’m part of the Church.
Everything the Lord is doing through His Church: I am a PART of that! I don’t understand all that the Church does, but I’m not sure I never WILL understand. And meanwhile, my membership opens so many possibilities for me to be a part.
And the sacrament is such a tangible expression of that.
☀️Thank you both for this study and for your heartfelt invitations.

There is sooooo much we get out of being part of the Church and the covenant community, and the sacrament reafies that! Your thoughts are wonderful and helpful. Thank you!

I was once taught that a good way to approach the Sacrament is to think on the many names/titles of the Savior (such as Redeemer, Good Shepherd, Prince of Peace, Immanuel, Wonderful Counselor, etc) then focus on the name/title that I needed in my life at that moment.

I think if I could change anything about the song I Am a Child of God, the first chorus would be “teach me all that I must know”, the second chorus “all that I must do”, and the third “all that I must be.”

I took an Introduction to BYU life my first semester there in Summer 1977. I think Bro Tanner was my teacher. Was that you. You were very young and had a lot more hair. My name is Pamela Jean Rhodes. After graduating from BYU in 1981 I moved home to California and married a young man from the Ward my parents had moved to while I was at BYU.

When the angels ministered to the children, is it possible that each child received something like we would recognize as a patriarchal blessing?
