  • We asked members of our hiking club if they would hike two trails in order for a television station send in a photographer to take photos of our “senior citizens” hiking and staying active. Over 20 hikers showed up and we hiked two trails. The first trail was the Devils Racetrack, a very scenic and about 2 1/2 miles in and out. Then we hiked up to the Yellow Rock overlook. This trail was about 3 1/2 miles up and down. All of us had a great time and the young photographer made the comment “ I don’t think that some of my friends , ages 25=30 , couldn’t keep up with you all. Our youngest hiker was 47 and oldest was 75. You can find these two trails plus others at Devils Den State park off interstate I-49 in Northwest Arkansas. There are two entry points, one coming north from I-40 on I-49 towards Fayetteville . The other entrance highway is coming south from Fayetteville AR. It is a a state park with excellent facilities . There are other trails at the park, cabins and bike trails . Enjoy and always remember , sturdy hiking boots, plenty of water , hiking poles and dress for the weather conditions.
