  • It was great February weather for hiking at Pedestal Rock - Kings Fall trail in Northwest Arkansas, the St Francis -Ozark forest . We hiked to the falls , some went down to the waterfalls , where others explored the pedestal rocks. Then we went below the pedestal rocks to take in all the splendor of the caves. It was a 5 plus mile hike for all and we were hungry. We traveled to Jasper on Highway 7 and ate at the famous Ozark Cafe. You can access the trailhead at highway 16 east. If you are coming from Fayetteville AR you go on highway 16 east to highway 7, go south on 7 until you come to Pelsor, take highway 16 east until you come to the trailhead sign. From Russellville you go on highway 7 north to highway 16, turn right on 16 drive until you see the trailhead sign. From NWA go on highway 412, to highway 21 , go towards Kingston and then at Boxley Valley, go right to highway 16/21 intersection . Go left on 16 to highway 7, go south and then to highway 7/16 go left until you come to the trailhead. As always I recommend sturdy hiking waterproof boots, hiking poles , gloves , wide brim hat and plenty of water. A first kit can come in handy plus a small folding knife . Have fun ,
