I’m shocked and pleasantly surprised that you young guys like this. I’m 57 and always liked this genre of music. I think I was in the Navy around the time of this release.
This song always puts a smile on ya face :) But it has a serious message about the consequences of a lust for power. "Sowing the seeds of love" is another incredible track and album.
A quality song from back in the day which should be an anthem for all songs from the 1980’s the absolutely superbly talented “Tears for Fears” and it’s the first few bars of the intro that gets you hooked. But we’ll done to you guys for appreciating the kind of music us 60 somethings enjoyed as teenagers back in the day.
@@_MjG_I’m 58 and I got to enjoy it all thru high school and college. And got into 90s music as a young adult. I also love 70s music. I was younger then but did enjoy the music I heard.
Ha! ‘If you don’t like this song we can’t be friends’ 😂😂 So true! The size & detail…those guitar solo’s!! 🥳🎸🚀 can’t get enough of it and I was there when it was first released
This was played everywhere when I was working in bars and restaurants. Such a feelgood way to start your day😇 we'd all be dancing and singing to it setting tables up 💙💙💙🎶✊
Guys in case you don’t know it this Tears For Fears song “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” for me personally is possibly thee best pop song ever recorded . . . Period. So hello from us all here in Scotland.
Classic track from the early 80s... beautiful song with beautiful synth lines. This is how it was done folks. Great, talented band. Glad you guys appreciate awesome music!
The line in this song 'So Sad They Had To Fade It' is in reference to the song Shout, the record company cut it down to release it as a sing, 'Walls Come Tumbling Down' is in reference to the Berlin wall.
When somebody asks you how the 80s did sound like, play'em that song. Similiar built up and sound you'll find in "Alive and Kicking" by Simple Minds. BTW Great reaction . Sometimes I miss that hunting synth sound.
Great review! I love this song. There is a great 80s wormhole to travel! This is a great song to kick it off. Shout and Head Over Heels are great songs by Tears for Fears too.
Curt sings lead here. Roland songs lead in most of the other songs. Written by Chris Hughes, Ian Stanley + Roland Orzabal. The record company demanded 1 more song, a hit. This was the last song recorded for the 1985 album. Chris had a drum shuffle. Ian Stanley had a keyboard riff. Roland wrote the lyrics and the guitar attack, which bored him! L🤣L Better version than the one sung by Lourde. This song inspired members of Glass Tiger to write the song Don't Forget Me when I'm Gone with Jim Vallance. 🇨🇦. The bassline of Everybody... is also similar to Can't Stop This Thing We Started, written by Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange. Suggested next video: Glass Tiger and Bryan Adams perform. Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone. Suggested next Tears for Fears video: Break It Down Again. 🇬🇧
that 'echoing' is called REVERB. Turn your Bass up a little. Emotional response IS the intent of Music! Just recently found your channel, so try their HEAD OVER HEELS official music video, if you haven't already. Loved me lots of '80s music - it was a MULTIMEDIA RENAISSANCE, for sure.
A complex song, you get it if you learn to play it on a guitar. Roland truly shows off his skills on this tune. A truly hypnotic melody and beat. Killer classic, thank God I grew up hearing these amazing songs on the rock and roll radio. Generations now, you analyze our music, but you'll never truly understand what all this music meant to us when we were young. Eat your heart out listening to it, you certainly don't know what it was like when it was new, and the music was e v e r y w h e r e. Remember, we bought records, lol. You guys now, lol, you'll never, ever enjoy the same experience, this video reaction stuff is as close as you all get.
I can be listening to most anything on the radio in the car and it's fine. Bits of songs grab me, not too much change on me. This comes on though, i hear the intro, volume up, beginning to end its just me and the song. And always feel lighter, life-affirmed after.
Originally it was supposed to be called 🎵Everybody wants to go to war🎵. I thought that was interesting … they talked about it when they recorded for Spotify
When the music starts I think about walking into the world with a whole bunch of other people and other opinions. That we are moving in the same direction.. that's the imagery I get when I close my eyes and listen to this song. The '80s was a great time to live through
My favorite song by TFF! Sowing the seeds of love is a great song by them too.. probably my second favorite! I was 12 when they hit it big in the US… what a great decade to live in!
This was a genre known as synth-pop. Best ever representation of it imo. They still perform, and vocally still sound the same. Teeny bit shame you didn't watch the promo video too. I read that Michael Jackson asked their permission to use part of that intro, not 100% but think it was for 'The Way You Make Me Feel'. Of course they said yes (and got paid for it)
"Pop Royalty" is 'Spot On'! But then again, Pop Royalty was almost all there was in the 'Late 20th Century'! I just turned 75 and I'm So Glad I Got Too Experience The 50's Through The 90's Everything!!! Especially The Best Of The Best MUSIC... Perhaps, As It May Turn Out To Be, The 'Pinnacle' Of Creativity, A Short Space, In The Course Of Human History (Western Civilization), Which May Never Be Attained Again???!!! Especially, as we increasingly 'Descend' into the 'Pit' of 'AI' and 'Life In The Holodeck'!!!
Oh my goodness I love you guys! Tears for fears … such a great English band … so proud of the music of my country … please listen to Feeling The Moment by Feeder and btw … you in the middle! You are spot on every time! 🇬🇧

I used to be a DJ in the late 70s and early 80s and this was always a good dancefloor filler. It went well with Living on the ceiling from Blancmange, Messages from OMD, Just can't get enough from Depeche Mode, Fade to Grey from Visage and We are Glass from Gary Numan.
Coming off the 60,s 70’s classic rock era the 80’s took a minute to get used to sound wise … but this band was one of my favorite! Great music & lyric .

TFF are a duo comprising of Roland and Curt. Ian and Mani played on their second album Songs From The Big Chair but they never officially joined the band. Pop royalty! Yes… best driving song of all time… the best
"Welcome to your life, there's no turning back" That's some pretty heavy shit. Hit me back then. Still hits me now.
Haunting, isn't it? Think of all those who have had shitty lives.
Same here. I graduated from college the year this came out. I played this over and over driving back home.
The sound of the 80's. Unmistakable.
The 80's had a style and sound of it's own.
“How can you not like that song??” Well said.
This songs the best

This song always puts me in a better mood. It's that 80s magic
"I can't stand this indecision married with a lack of vision"

This song is so intertwined with my memories of my dad as a kid in the 80s, it's almost spiritual go me. It's like a prayer.
One of the greatest songs of the 80's a good driving song on a summer day. Did well also on the charts a winner.
It was a Number one in The U.K. And U.S.
Yes 👏👏
Agreed!
I believe Michael Jackson loved this so much that he asked Tears For Fears permission to use it on The Way You Make Me Feel (im sure he paid them lol)
