63 in January, my senior year high school I played the drum set in a percussion ensemble and concert where my friend Jason can’t read music but played in marimba lead in our percussion unsellable….. the mood of living life should feel like was way more enjoyable than back then this confusion delusion of today
People go by decades but the changes in music came mid decade. Mid 60's to mid 70's to mid 80's etc. I consider disco to be an 80's phenomena. I love the 70's music and am not a fan of disco.
This is my Summer song. Summer of 1976, my wife and I just graduated from HS and just started dating. 48 years later we're still together. BTW Bruce Blackman still tours and writes songs. Thanks for the musical memories.
The wind threw some luck in my direction, I caught it in my hand today. I think you made a sneaky French connection, you winked and gave me your ok...LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Saw them do this live in 1978 in Michigan. The singer/xylophone player absolutely KILLED THIS!! In concert, the solo was extended and very complex. A very accomplished musician!!
Turned 16 in '76, was visiting SoCal from my small hometown of Astoria, Oregon, driving on PCH with the top down of my then gfs MG and this song came on when we looked at each other laughing "wow, this song was PERFECTION" it took a week to find an unsold copy to record onto a cassetted. I got home 3 months later and it was all over the AM and FM stations. Summer of 76 was something everyone should experience in their life...to die happy no matter what.
Loved the marathon guys, thanks. Please keep checking in now and then with a tune from the 60’s or 70’s. Lots of us baby boomers enjoy watching young adults react to the songs of our youth 👍🏼
Yeah, a summer song for SURE. Always fire, from when I was about 5 years old! The whomp-whomps are fantastic, but the best part 100% is, LISTEN CAREFULLY, for the singer to give out a "heh heh heh!" RIGHT before the chorus starts. Amazing marimba solo, the finest in rock history.
It's always fun when guys groove to the poppiest of pop songs. Don't get me wrong, it's fire, but that you guys grooved to it rocks my socks. This was what 70s pop was like.
Some songs just alter your mood. When I hear this song, it makes me smile. Imagine it, driving your convertible on a warm summer night by the ocean, holding your girl's hand. What could be better.
Oh no, don't stop! There are so many songs like this that get missed by reactors, that need to be heard. Thanks for doing these, it's been a real delight!
This superb pop song perfectly encapsulates the sound of the summer of '76. It truly captures the feel of a trip beside the ocean. I also love the way the lyrical rhyming scheme follows the A-B-A-B pattern, where first and third lines rhyme, as well as the second and fourth. You don't get that very often in pop music. (The tune reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.)
You guys must be smokin' some good shit - the giggle machine is on full blast LOL Always loved this piece - native Marylander here, driven across Chesapeake Bay Bridge countless # of times.
One of my favorite songs, from when I was in grade school. I remember I was just a little kid, headed towards Grandma's house (over 400 Miles if pavement ) for the summer, in eastern Oregon and this song came on. The song, take me back to that day... What a Day🙏
I saw them do this when they opened up for Wild Cherry at Mississippi State somewhere around 76 or 77. I was like 12 and the entire arena filled with a certain smoke. They gave us a different type of atmosphere that we were used to. My best friend and I went to our moms and they seem to enjoy the smoke as well. I’m 59 now and I do remember that xylophone solo.
Oh the memories from this song! I’m “older” and had my first date when this was popular 😌😉 It makes me think of another song, Starland Vocal Band, Afternoon Delight.
I envy the younger generation...so much great music to explore..Abba to Zappa..AC/DC to ZZ Top..The Animals to The Zombies...America to Zager & Evans ...Its great to experience these songs again.
"Moonlight Feels Right" was a major American hit, peaking at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 the weeks of July 31 and August 7, 1976,number two on the Cash Box chart, and number four on Record World. It is ranked as the 34th biggest US hit of the year. On the Canadian chart, the song reached number three in early August 1976. It is ranked as the 51st biggest Canadian hit of 1976.
You guys are my favorite reaction channel! Your reactions are so awesome, fun and enjoyable! 🧡💛💚 This song is one of the best 70s songs to give you that mellow feel we all had! Pure 70s right here.
This was a sure thing! One of the great-all-timers in my book. Sounds as fresh today as when it used to spark up the radio and you guys captured its essence. Keep spotlighting these lost gems. You also need more of the one of the greatest voices ever, Linda Ronstadt.
Another gem from my favorite year in music. The incomparable, impeccable unbelievable year of 1976. It was incredible to wake up nearly every day and hear another fabulous hit that would be destined to live in your heart forever.
This is a great song! Love watching you react to these great 70s songs. You would also love Strawberry Letter 23 by The Brothers Johnson, these cool guys who played what might be one of the ultimate 70s song vibes.
Not sure how many might be aware but Louis Johnson also played bass on Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)." This was with McDonald on vocals/keyboards, Toto's Steve Lukather on lead guitar, Toto's Jeff Porcaro on drums and Greg Phillinganes (Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson) on clavinet (the awesome keyboard sounding instrument that may be most well known in Stevie Wonder's "Superstition"). Furthermore, Lukather, Porcaro, Phillinganes, and Johnson would also all play on multiple tracks of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album (produced by Quincy Jones, who was associated with The Brothers Johnson) at around the same time as working with Michael McDonald. Talk about an absolute "best of the best" support band. Every player was a total all-star and it still shows today in all that music. 😁
I got a good chuckle watching you guys react to the jazzy marimba/vibes solo. it's the same thing I did when I first heard that in the 70s... a "wtf was that?" moment. HA... I'm typing this and I'm getting to hear and watch you guys listen to it again. Cool choice... cheers guys!
This song really put me in a yacht rock mood. So, I am going to make some requests. 1. Holdin’ On To Yesterday - Ambrosia (their best) 2. Strange Way - Firefall 3. Sooner or Later (OR) Two Divided by Love (OR) Temptation Eyes - The Grass Roots (yacht rock ahead of its time 😊) Nothing better than watching you guys react to yacht rock.
The Grass Roots never seemed to get their due outside of the time that the group was putting out hits. My dad was a big fan and that's how I was exposed to the group's music back in the early 1980s. Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)," The Doobie Brothers' "What A Fool Believes," and many of the early to mid 1980s hits by Christopher Cross are pretty significant "Yacht Rock" songs that the guys haven't got to yet on the channel as well. To a large degree, the guys have just "scratched" the musical water's surface when it comes to "Yacht Rock." 😂
I wonder if the one hit wonder musician's families ever see reactions to these old obscure songs and are like "DAD! These guys are listening to your song and they really like it A LOT!".
I actually have an original LP of this given to me as a gift in 92’ by a DJ who found it for me if I remember correctly in OSU library….(one of my favorite songs as an 8 year old when it first came out in 76’)
Wow..... I was camping on Assateague Island when this song dropped. And it turned out to be so prophetic. Met the girl of my dreams amongst the sand dunes. 😃
Just an incredible tune that was so creative. Especially for its time. This is near the top of my Yacht Rock playlist. The subtle bassline is underrated and really ties the song together.
The part that really hit was his voice - smooth & sexy & then the lyrics. You can't get better "lines" than you can find with this poetic version - & the good part is that he is warning her of EXACTLY what his intensions are - & how it will be delivered - in a sailboat at night with the moon shining down. It is up to her to decide if she is interested (at all - she doesn't have to go for all that he is hoping. Just let him know that he may be on the right track if he keeps it up.) As you said "it's fire."
Bruce Blackman, writer and lead singer of this song, has a video that explains how he came up with the lyrics and all the ins and outs of this recording. It is fabulous info.
The live version is spot on also. The keyboard player looks like my old bookie, the marimba player is classic long haired , unbuttoned vest wearing hairy chested 70s, style. This came out in my senior year of HS, it was one of the fun summer songs that looking back now portrays in your mind a fantastic memory of the times.
Please don't stop the marathon, all your reactions to these songs have been wonderful and you've barely scratched the surface. Here's a suggestion for your next song - I'm On Fire by the Dwight Twilley Band.
Found you guys, recently. Enjoy your presentation and camaraderie, as a team. Two quick comments: 1- our could not have started the marathon any better, than with Donnie Iris and Ah Leah! 2- Loving the Cincinnati Reds shirt!
This was a fun watch! I was thinking after the second verse: If the guys think this is fire so far, can't wait to see how much they like the marimba solo! You did not disappoint.😊
Yeah! I know you guys would love it. This is on my main playlist. This song was used during an episode of The Six Million Dollar Man... Which I was addicted to when I was young.😊 HE WAS RUNNING IN SLOW MOTION.
Kudos & thanks for a terrific marathon, guys! And marathon or not, you always manage to embrace such a diversity of styles. It's cool to see genres like Death Metal, as well as Yacht Rock, each get their due.
I love you guys!! ❤❤❤ I needed this laugh and you guys are just fun and hilarious! I love how you love 70s rock & radio music too! High school all over again 😂😂😂❤❤❤
You guys NEVER disappoint! What a great reaction…I was so hoping you would choose this song. I have loved this one-hit-wonder marathon!!! I hope you’ll do it again…
I love this song. I was just listening to it last week. Windows down and sunroof wide open. I just listened to him talking about how he came up with the lyrics, the arrangement as well as programming the Moog. They tried to make them take the marimba solo out. Bruce Blackman put his musical foot down.
This reminds me of the summer of my Junior Year, it played all the time on FM radio, WNAP and WFBQ. We were always outside traveling around playing softball games and this song was at its peak of popularity.
Three Rockers boppin to this is hilarious to me 😂🤣😂 This was a kinna like my own little secret song. My rocker friends, Ya know Floyd, Zeppelin, Rush lovers, would give me such a hard time for listening to this. I'm wondering now if they were secretly listening too! What a fun song. Great to see you Ty! Love y'all ❤
Thanks, guys. I'm glad the marimba solo got to you. It was played by Bo Wagner in a one-take improv.
@starbuckmusic would you place yourselves in the yacht rock category?
Your music was a core element of my 70's childhood!
Solo is fire and so is the vocal!
@@monkeysuncle2816 The genre did not exist when I wrote it. But if people say it's Yacht Rock, then it is. I'm all good with it.
If you want to see the marimba solo live (our reunion show in Atlanta) - th-cam.com/video/LZK9wImwtqE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=X_MSpN6uOT7qjGwQ
I love your song dearly. Always makes me smile.
Gino Vannelli- I Just Wanna Stop is a must listen for you guys.
Love that one!!
Wow memories! Good one!
Saw him in 1976 at the Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh. He put on a good show. He of course looked amazing.
Also Canadian!!
I adore Gino Vannelli. He is so underrated. I understand that he is touring.
Hey guys! I just sent this video to the singer of this song, Bruce Blackman. ❤🎉
You absolutely have to link his reaction.
@@tlyon5196 I posted the video on his Facebook page and messaged him.
@@tlyon5196 My reaction was great. Love to see younger people getting into it.
Lol, Pete, you beat me to it. I think Bruce would appreciate this!
I was 14 or 15 years old when this song came out. It was a great summer song at the time. I'm now 63 and still sound great today in 2024😉
63 in January, my senior year high school I played the drum set in a percussion ensemble and concert where my friend Jason can’t read music but played in marimba lead in our percussion unsellable….. the mood of living life should feel like was way more enjoyable than back then this confusion delusion of today
For most people, say "70s" and they picture disco. Not me, THIS is the sound of the 70s😊
Disco was really only in the late 70's, really about 76 or 77 through 1980. By 1981, disco was done.
Happy Memories of this track, Miss Those Times.
So true, I've downloaded so many 70's tunes on my phone and maybe only a few would be considered Disco. No Abba or Bee Gees yet lol
People go by decades but the changes in music came mid decade. Mid 60's to mid 70's to mid 80's etc. I consider disco to be an 80's phenomena. I love the 70's music and am not a fan of disco.
Disco became a thing in the late '70s, and it was only ONE of many genres at the time.
When I’m feeling down, I watch your reaction to this, and it instantly makes me happy! Thank you! 💕
Love the little chuckle before singer launches into chorus… hehehe
I also like that it’s the only pop song that references Baltimore and “Old Miss” university.
This is my Summer song. Summer of 1976, my wife and I just graduated from HS and just started dating. 48 years later we're still together. BTW Bruce Blackman still tours and writes songs. Thanks for the musical memories.
That marimba solo was STRAIGHT FIRE!!! I'm a lifelong percussionist, and I could never come close to the mallet skill on display in this song. WOW!
This was such a big summer hit in ‘76. The whole country had Bicentennial fever, and this song and Afternoon Delight were everywhere.
I remember the days. Nothing but love ❤. A kid with no worries....
I remember!
Happy days love from Durham uk
Picture it, Summertime in America, 1976 and playing on the radio " Moonlight Feels Right." Priceless..
I remember it well! Good times! 😊
Why would you want to stop this marathon?! You’ve hit so many great songs and have so many more to go! ❤
You will NOT regret this tune ❤❤ Woohoo!
The singer said he laughed in this because of a Mic problem...and they decided to keep it in the song. Love this song. 😍
"Moonlight Feels Right" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on 4/17/76 & charted for 22 weeks peaking @ #3 for 2 weeks.

I agree. It was magical!
My favorite marimba solo!
And that sly laugh before heading into the chorus curls my toes.
