It was a very good opening episode so good it made me wanna pick up the LN so I can see Miyo happy. But I’ll keep my thoughts to this episode. I honestly really enjoyed the moments of quiet in the episode allowing me to just take Miyo’s world and the small bits of fleeting happiness she gets between the abuse she suffers. Also I don’t know why some of my favorite animes are set during the early 1900s like otome fairy tale they feel refreshing.
The first episode was great with both the visuals and music, and now that i know that Evan Call is responsible for the music im even more excited to hear more of the OST. Hope the series keeps up the quality!

I am reading the books and this is more than just a love story.
I did dismiss it…I couldn’t stomach her subservient pose…her over apologetic frame…but I stuck with it as you slowly …SLOWLY WOKE UP…and gained herself. I like it…but my god…it was hard and painful to get through.
Mi is the perfect match for Ki …. Reason is he is use to treating people gruff and is abusive and she is use to being abused …I think this will help her handle what ever he tries to dish out…. Oh and can we all agree that his Housekeeper is the sweetest ?? Oh and Little sister better watch out …. I suspect she will be knocked off that high horse her parents have her on…

At least it’s no GoHands, they can’t stop the camera a second. It’s beyond me why this stupid constantly tries to make me motion sick, multiple frame rate compositions is ever worse.
Back to the actual topic: I like the first episode, don’t know anything about the source but so far I’m intrigued. Kinda get that the show will change somehow since the first episode feel a bit Cinderella-est

The MC girl is very unlikable in the first ep. She has very little influence on the plot overall and she makes no effort to actually make her life better.
Ahhhh, that's the point though. She starts as a sort of pushover character only because of the trauma she's experienced. The point of the story is that she must overcome her terrible past and find self-worth!!
