One complaint about this thing people may have is "She's so weak, this thing wants women to be like that, it's misogynistic"
To that, I can say, her "weakness" is a result of poor self-esteem from years of being mentally abused, and NOT presented as a good thing. Her mind has been squished to think she doesn't deserve to speak, that she doesn't deserve happiness and she doesn't deserve to exist without being of service. A lot of people deal with thoughts like this. It doesn't make them weak, it just means they're going to have to spend years unlearning all the thoughts and rewiring their brain. This applies to anyone regardless of gender.
This is the romance of the season ! The animation and the music is just a chef’s kiss 💋 for the romance fans! No other romance this season comes close to this one

I like the way all the characters are presented, like Kouji went from being a coward to becoming a hero to save Miyo. And I like how the Saimori family mansion burned to the ground in a karmic way, symbolizing the downfall of the family
Few thing i like about My Happy Marriage
1. The fact that it's the most accurate spiritual adaptation of Cinderella. Most modern Cinderella retelling made the main character more "empowered", conveniently forgeting that, at its core, it's about a girl being abused by her family. And the fact it a significant part of the show is how the abuse affected Miyo, even after she left it
2. Kudo Kiyoka. I never met male lead who is so green flag. One of my favorite little scene with him is when Miyo introduced herself, he lowkey threathened her then was surprised when Miyo just accepted it. He never really meant it, but he was so used to past fiancees disliking him or just after him for money or power that he was surprised that someone just accepted it.
3. Their relationship. Arranged marriages aren't new in literature but it is one of the few stories i know of where, instead of them splitting or one of them ending up with someone else, the core is them trying to be the best they can. And it works. You really feel them trying to be the best for one another.
4. The fact that the narative treats them equally. It takes Miyo's abusive past seriously and how it affects her relationships, even when she left it. It also shows how Kiyoka not just knowing what she went through, but actually doing something to help her move on. If you want my favorite example of the author taking both of them seriously, take the scene where Miyo was kidnapped and Kiyoka rescuing her. While Kiyoka is fighting to rescue Miyo, Miyo is fighting to keep her marriage in her own battle.
I really hope this anime gets the attention it deserved
I'm an absolute sucker for wholesome romance. Cinderella type stories are something I've always loved, and no anime has ever come close to the level of love story that this one does. Too many focus on the "will they won't they", or "they like each other, but won't admit it" tropes.
Here: They end up liking each other pretty quickly, fall in love faster than two Disney characters, and want and fight to be together. It was so damn refreshing!
The romance in this is so sweet and wholesome! Welcome into it man❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I felt the start of "My Happy Marriage" was like "Taisho Otome Fairy Tale". Problably because of the abuse and hardship of the protagonist. After some episodes it got more exciting and a lot of character development happens and now I hope Miyo is more than meets the eye.
I preferí that she stays the dame,but that she`s always safe😊
I will say this, having read the first of the light novels, I cannot hate Kaya. She is completely a product of what her parents made her. She's spoiled because she always got her way. She treats Miyo terribly because her parents taught her that that was what Miyo deserved. She believed that she deserved Kudo simply because her upbringing led her to believe that she should always get the better deal over Miyo. I hated how she treated her half sister, but it honestly made me hate the parents more while somewhat sympathizing with Kaya. Just my $.02
I just stumbled across this show on Netflix and after watching 5 episodes, I was surprised by how the animation looks so good, the story is like Cinderella with abit of a mix other animes with super powers it kinda reminds me of the hyuga clan from naruto lol.

YES! God yes... I totally feel yeah on wanting to just reach in and help our girl. I was like swearing at my tablet when Miyo is being abused by her step sister. I'm just waiting for Miyo to show her true potential and overcome her scarred past. So many feels.
Kudo-San is such a boss! Like, crouching teddy bear, hidden badass! And Mio… she deserves hugs. Not just a few hugs, like, all the hugs.
I get that feeling you were talking about. Kiya is trashing Mio because Mio got the better bargain as far as marriages go. Then Kudo turns up and just SAVAGELY shuts Kiya down. He puts her and her entitiled mother in thier places.
That moment was one of the most satisfying of the entire year

i actually watched this last night at 12am i was expecting my self to fall asleep in like mid on episode 1 but it got me Captivated and interested from the beginning so i end up finishing the story up to 2 am 😂

I don't like the stereotype of oh the girls mum died her father remarried and oh look this person treats our girl like trash, her father you will marry this man, he then finds out oh wait she will be happy not on my watch, Yeah the sister is pure evil but what do you expect of a spoilt rich kid, When the MC showed up to save her was so cool, he was like what are you doing to my bride
Happy Marriage Life, should come with a disclaimer not always happy because this anime hit feels good. Kaya definitely close to one those characters that gives me unending rage like Myne, Rachel, and Akito.

Yeah Indeed My Happy marriage is the best romance anime this season and also one of the best anime this season can offer ❤ with great animation and music . The opening is also one of the best this season such as Masamune Kun revenge R , Jobless Reincarnation, The girl i like forget her glasses, The Devil is a part timer , saint Cecilia and pastor Lawrence op etc.

Arrange marrige for power is just the plot behind the Todoroki family of MHA, but My Happy Marrige i think expend it.
Yeah. It is pretty great.
The problem with this one is, going by the title and first episode, it masquerades early on as a pure period drama. Powers aren't even mentioned (IIRC) until episode 2.

Currently watching this and wow the Mother so reminds me of Yuno Gasai's Mom (And that's not in a good way at all)
Overall this is reminding a bit of Fruits Basket 2019 (Another series I just started watching currently on S1E5 ) which is sometimes good (Wholesomeness) but sometimes bad (Noticing some comparisons between how Miyo and Tohru are treated by their families)

Im so disappointed by the direction of the story. Up until the ( SPOILER ) kidnap arc it was so good. But then instead of focusing on miyo and her emotional struggles the just went "OH BTW SHE FROM SECRET BLOODLINE AND NOW WEIRD SHIT IS HAPPENING". Like imagine her and kudo working through her ptsd and nightmares tgt and bonding. Instead the story goes "oh she has nightmares cus usaba clan :)" like wtf. What a waste frfr
And the scene where kudo sees miyo half dead, or kudo gets taken away from miyo. The execution is just not it. They should be DEVASTED and instead they r just like "oh no :(". They needed to take more time on those scenes and gave the voice actors more space to perform
