Hahaha...Courtney, I am a metal artist and I walk old railroad tracks looking for nice old railroad spikes that I weld together to make ornate crosses with...One day while driving across an old railroad crossing I spotted a bunch of railroad spikes about 10' off the road. I pulled over and (in my crocs) walked to gather them...about 5ft away from them I indeed stepped on a 2" rusty nail that completely stabbed into my heel. I screamed in pain and had to "un-stab" the nail from my foot...I always wear wear boots at work and I was SO PISSED at myself for just jumping out while wearing my crocs. It was a very painful experience and healing took forever with a doctor visit to clean the puncture....so yeah guys, LEAVE THE CROCS AT HOME!!
For dress, I go with "Johnston & Murphy Hawthorn Cap Toe." Buy them big, so you can put a thick insert in them. Not too expensive, so you can buy a second pair to change them at noon, or every other day to let the leather dry. And I bring them, even if brand new, to a shoe repair store and have a non slippery pad glued on the bottom, heal and sole. This also prevents the main part of the shoe from damage. Leather soles are slippery and wear out quick.
If someone has a problem with my shoes, they just downgraded my opinion of them. That's how real, grown men feel, opposed to fragile, boys and girls who never grew up.
I use the Crocs only in my car after Work. I wear heavy duty boots at work all day. It feels nice to wear crocs while I drive home out of the work boots. Would I wear them casually no.
I never understood the hype around crocs. Wouldn't wear them even at a water park. And they're complete eye sores. And leather sandals are ugly as hell, especially if you're wearing socks
Crocs are good if you live somewhere that you have to walk to/from a shower or toilet trailer, especially through gravel. Ugly as sin and I'd never wear them for any other reason, but every other pair of shower shoes I owned during that part of my life would blow out within a couple of months.
7:00 Funny how women don't like what is healthy. Square toe shoes and shoes with wide toe boxes such as Barefoot shoes are really good for your feet because they allow for your toes to spread out. This in turn can prevent a whole host of ankle, knee and hip issues from arising. Why does look have to be more important than functionality especially when it comes to health? I would sy sod what women think I will do what is healthy for me.
Shoe design has developed over centuries, when we used horses for transportation. Meaning they are narrow to the toe for ease to kick in to stirrups. We just gotta get away from that.
@@harlanjackson6112 Yes exactly. However, it is a relic that still exists in the psyche of women. At one point it showed status to have these kinds of shoes because it showed that you could ride a horse. However, our ancestors were not smart enough to realise that it screwed up your feet, knees, hips and posture. We need to try to brainwash women again to believe that barefoot shoes are a status symbol. Then we can have our health as men with the attraction of women. Who doesn't want a healthy man?
I enjoy my hybrid dress kicks and casual sneakers with gum soles. I like to switch things up. Im able to make it work. (Yes, i have plenty of casual & dress boots, etc.)
Top notch advice, Courtney! Sadly, high quality men's shoes in classic designs are getting harder to find in the High Street, being crowded out by tackier and less flattering designs; it's now become a matter of shopping on the internet and doing LOTS of research before buying anything.
I agree with most of these except the pointy dress shoes comment. It’s hard to find comfortable enough versions of those for a wider than average foot vs the flatter styles. Or maybe I’m not looking at the right brands.
Yeah you're absolutely not, any decent shoemaker will offer a range of lasts and shoebox styles. And if you're not buying your shoes from a shoemaker, but instead a fashion house that intends your purchasing to be a cyclical affair: rethink that.
Hi Courtney, what is your opinion on white sneakers? Do you think they are a no or go? One style of shoes I always hated, and thankfully haven't seen in awhile are the toe shoes. They had to be the ugliest shoes I've ever seen.
I only wear crocs around the house as slippers, mainly because they’re so easy to wash off when you go out side and it’s raining and muddy and whatnot.
I really appreciate this video, my partner used to make sure that i didn't make any wardrobe mistakes but when she passed away i've been trying my best to not make any mistakes. Thankfully with shoes it appears i'm doing ok.
At the urging of a friend, I tried Crocs a few years ago, and I am still wearing them. They keep my feet cool in summer. and warm enough in winter(without socks!). The large toe box has allowed my feet to resume their normal shape. I still wear boots for snow, and leather shoes for dress up, and gym shoes for workouts.
This is great, thanks for this content! It's one of my fun goals this year to "up my shoe game". I had a good pair of Santos monk strap shoes, that I have now given a good shoeshine, storing them with shoe trees in a proper shoe bag. I intend to purchase some Weejun's from GH Bass, some Oxford shoes (unsure if I will go for wholecut or captoe), brogue derbies and likely some Chelsea boots and Chukka suede boots for the colder seasons. I don't mind paying an extra if I know it will last me a long time with maintenance. That's how I purchased my kitchen tools, mattresses and other equipment.
I'm in Healthcare. Everyone quickly adopted Crocs as the healthcare shoe of choice. After about a year, everyone quit wearing them. We were all developing plantar fasciitis! You never see healthcare workers in crocs anymore!
@@IRatherbeTrashthanADemocratCrocs was initially a relief to my plantar fasciit, but not enough as they easily allowed the feet to twist. Wearing crocs in public was never an option. I went to a specialist at a store who manufactured custom insoles for me. The pain soon vanished and I could resume my dancing hobby.
Ok, so what should we wear on a hot summer days if not sandals? They at least keep our feet ventilated. And because I have really ugly toenails and I don't want to expose them in public, I wear ankle socks (no fungus, but some might think they have that...and before anyone suggests, yes, both of my big toe nails have been removed, but they grew back just as bad 😏).
Anatomically, there is 0 requirement for arch support, bar mangled feet genetics. Your feet are evolved(in some cases devolved due to use of shoes) to be without support at all. Anyway thays beside the fact. Hey dudes are like sandals, the most extreme side of casual. They are basically kicks you wear out to the beach or something you quickly throw on, with shorts, to the grocery store. You don't wear them to be fashionable. Regardless wear whatever is appropriate for the situation.
14:29 Oddly enough my favorite pair of shoes is from Florsheim. I purchased them for 3 bucks at a thrift store and didn't wear them for many years. The dust was so thick that I almost threw them away. But, they cleaned up very well and very handsomely. The leather is thin and flexible, the grew on me
00:05👞 Courtney Ryan discusses men's shoe fashion, emphasizing subjective taste and personal style uniqueness. 00:41👟 Emphasizes the importance of functionality and style in shoes to enhance appearance and self-expression. 01:20👞 Begins tier one with "Hey Dudes," criticizing their comfort and unflattering silhouette, suggesting sneakers or loafers instead. 02:39🥿 Criticizes Crocs for their functional limitations, unappealing design, and overpricing, except for specific scenarios like water activities. 05:11🩴 Advises against leather strappy sandals due to their impracticality and lack of aesthetic appeal, especially with socks. 06:56👞 Square-toed shoes are discouraged for their bulky appearance and lack of versatility compared to rounded or slightly pointed toes. 07:51👟 Puffy skate shoes are criticized for their bulky, unflattering appearance and impracticality for everyday use. 09:40👞 Gum sole dress sneakers are deemed awkward for their inability to blend formal and casual styles effectively. 10:31🔩 Warns against shoes with impractical hardware, which can cheapen their appearance and durability over time. 12:13🛍 Advises caution with luxury designer brand shoes, suggesting they may not always offer the best quality for their price compared to less-known brands.
Fashion is off putting when it comes to women, it gives me high maintenance vibes, give me a girl in jeans and t-shirt any day. Likewise the same should be true for women looking at men, as I've noticed men who are overly concerned with their appearance are usually not very trustworthy.
I'm with you on the arch support, especially since I have high arches. Switching to well supported running sneakers and certain exercises saved me from chronic plantar fasciitis. But some, and even a minority of podiatrists favor a minimalist approach. They claim that shoes more akin to walking barefoot serve to keep the functional parts of the foots strong.
Thank you for this video. I decided to get my 1st pair of cowboy boots. I decided to get a used pair of Quality boots that way I'm not heavily invested but still have quality. I found 2 pair of used boots in my size that are in perfect condition Snakeskin new would be over $300 and a pair of Sharkskin that sells for over $400. I bought them for $50 ea. and OMG!! do I LOVE these boots!!! These boots if taken care of it will last me my lifetime. Thank you for showing what not to buy and what we need to buy going into detail.
Thank you for this input Courtney! I'm soo glad someone finally said something about crocs and hey dudes. The worst. And your definitely right about keeping shoes separate instead of a hybrid monster that doesn't look and feel right. Again, another great video!
Miss Courtney Ryan I imagine you with short hair. You would look much nicer and short hair would make you attractive with touch of strong individuality. Sorry do not want to patronise.
Nice insight. What about Retro Jordans? How you feel about those? Also, the gum sole, would you say the Thursday boot sneakers are on that list? The leather sneakers with the white mid sole?
I’m glad you made an exception to the square toe work boot. I’ve got some steel square toe Ariat boots that are super comfortable and have lasted for years already. They go great with overalls. 🤣
I commited several mistakes of the video, especiallly using square shoes. Finally as a 50 year old I have discovered the style that makes me feel comfortable and well put. I now love Monkstraps (double are my favorites), Oxfords, Derbys, Chukka Boots. As a mexican, there are options made in Mexico that are pretty afordable . There is a region in México that produces leather shoes with high quality and it is not neccesary to spend high dollar amount to buy them.
I would name Carlo Ronaldo, El Gran Par, Brantano, to name a few brands that I have tried, they manufacture leather shoes with great quality, but I am sure there are many more brands especially from the central region.
Just when I was thinking about getting new fancy shoes :). Thank you for the vid. I've just bought brown and dark blue derbies. They will look cool with my other stuff.
Courtney, as a 48 year old guy, am I too old for my first pair of Thursday boots? If not, can I wear them without jean cuffs? Think I might be too old for cuffs. Thanks!
Interesting. Now, can you make a video about shoes grown women shouldn't wear? Because I've seen some women wear shoes that don't look good at all. However, most men are unlikely to point that out to a woman because it seems to me that women also get a free pass regarding what they wear.
Good point on the designer brand shoes. Some shoes that are expensive truly are made cheaply. Some brands used to be quality but have since been bought out and cheapened unfortunately. Makes sure it fits well in the store and don't assume it'll get a lot better as they break in. I have shoes that got tried on and bought and never saw pavement. Such a waste.
Courtney, you mentioned timeless and craftmanship. Shoes are an investment aimed at quality, being an older man I have found this is true if your buying a blazer or shoes. I take care of my shoe polishing and cleaning but once a year my dry cleaner also uses a cobbler and when I pick them up they look new, the laces replaced and it's inexpensive for what you get.
I work in a hospital. Most of the time I wear Merrill sneakers at work. But when my feet bother me I switch to Crocs! I keep a pair at work . I also wear them at home as slippers. They are very comfortable and massage my feet.
I have purchased three pairs of Grant Stones. 2 Diesel boots in black and crimson. 1 pair of their Traveler penny loafer in the natural chromexcel that haven't yet fully broken in . I love these boots! They do make everything I wear with them feel elevated. I even wore them with a printed tshirt to the Daytona Rolex 24 hour race a few weeks ago. They're comfortable enough now that they are broken in that I can walk all day in them without issues. I can't say that about my Koio leather sneakers unfortunately and I don't believe they can break in more than they already are. I would LOVE a pair of Nick's boots. Probably in natural leather. I just imagine those would patina so nicely. If I had the money I might like a pair of Viberg service boots in black maybe idk. I got sucked into the boot thing too a while back. I picked up some Rokker motorcycle boots and it started a bit of a boot fetish or something idk.
I am guessing that you also felt good about your shoe collection after watching. She really was trying to help guys that are clueless or oblivious. I am a little shocked at some of dress shoes I see people wearing in my office.
The square toe shoe is for dancing, it's a less intensive version of the pointe shoe. It may look heavy or bulky, but if someone wears pointed toes on a night out or to an event they're wearing the wrong type of shoe.
I like military-style boots because they're made for long-distance walking, and if I need to put my foot up someone's butt or kick something else, they'll absorb the shock better than sneakers or dress shoes. Lol🤣
I’ve worn the same two pairs of Danner Acadias on patrol since 2005. I use real shoe polish and edge dressing. They still look great. They can be resoled as well.
I went from white leather Nike tennis shoes to more durable hiking shoes/boots, and the brown & black design give it a certain mature look while they're versatile in use and they last! Thought I'd share a good option of type of footwear since I also dislike all these shoes mentioned in this video.
My re-issue Chet Thomas Globes are “puffy skate shoes” lolols 🤣🤣🤣 but they are for skating only. They are weird to wear with street style (elephant foot like you said)… I got Vans specifically for the casual look… 👍👍🙏 thanks again Courtney ❤️
This was fun. I'm a dog trainer/Upland Bird Hunter and high quality, Thinsulite/ Gore-Tex lined 10 inch tall Danners or Red Wing Elk Tracker Boots are essential equipment for me. I use a small stainless cooking pot to melt the boot oil I use, and gob it on with a paint brush before rubbing it into the leather. Always use Kevlar Bootlaces. After a day in the field I use a Noma or Thermanator Boot Dryer to gently dry the boots out from the inside out. Chasing Pheasants often means marshy conditions and of course, soaking wet morning dew and later, snow and ice. And of course, always keep some terry cloth towels in the truck to dry your dog off and keep her nice and warm in the truck cab, and naturally if it's cold at night she sleeps under the covers right next to me. Anybody who has ever been around a real hunting dog knows what I'm talking about. Spoiled rotten.
Well, I feel a lot better about the state of my footwear now. I 1000% agree on all of the shoes you said not to wear, especially crocs. I have sneakers for the gym or casual wear, vans for longboarding or casual wear (vans are actually great for doing roofing too, they're light weight and have great grip on roof shingles), heavy steel toe work boots for when I'm remodeling homes, hiking boots for (you guessed it) hiking/camping, and a nice pair of (slightly) pointed dress shoes for more formal events.
Gotta disagree with the square casual/dress shoe. when you have triple d wide feet, they don't push into the narrow toes. unless you want some clown shoes.
I find Hey Dude shoes to be the PERFECT summertime shoe to wear in the urban Arizona desert heat. I don't wear socks when temperatures are in the triple digits and the Hey Dude shoes are light-weight and they breath well, thus keeping my feet cooler than if I were to wear athletic/tennis shoes. The casual look also goes well with the laid-back urban western lifestyle. By the way, white tennis shoes paired with anything other than athletic shorts make you look like an escaped senior citizen from an old-folks home . . . I don't care what age you are . . . white athletic shoes with pants looks childish or old and decrepit. I also wear nice leather flip-flops made by Olukai (Hawaiian), but only when wearing shorts. Of course, when outside the urban environments, sturdy outdoor shoes are necessary for the desert southwest. Cowboy boots are still very common and functional.
I was going to say the same thing about Hey Dude's in the summertime. I mean c'mon there are seasons and times/places for wearing certain shoes. I also wear Oofo like slides.
Agree with most of it, apart from the Hey Dude's. As a very casual footwear, they look fine. Especially in the summertime. Perfectly suitable for a bit of window shopping, roaming the streets at weekends, etc.
I watched a similar video from Antonio Centenio a while ago, and after that started investing in nice footwear, mainly boots (Chelsea, dress boots) as well as sports shoes for specific purposes (basketball, walking) . Kept a pair of low cut Chuck Taylors just for my daily walks but otherwise I don’t wear sneakers to work. Great video , Courtney!
Ugly or not, there is nothing more functional+comfortable together than socks with strapped sandals. The ventilation is amazing. The support is there to walk all day and even run as necessary. They go on very quick with a velcro strap of the heel. They're
Real Men™ wear shoes that meet their needs in any given situation, and they don't care what shoes TH-cam videos tell them to wear. Also, "arch support" is a myth; your arches are supported by the muscle tone in your calves, where the muscles that bend your toes and curl your feet are located. Wearing shoes without "arch support" forces those muscles to strengthen, which is what's supposed to happen. Square-tored dress shoes look fine and are vastly more comfortable than pointed-toed dress shoes are, which any woman can also tell you. I would never want a woman to wear dress shoes that mangle her toes the way pointed-toed high heels do, and I won't do the same to my feet either. Oh, and I owned a pair of Clarks padded leather sandals with straps back in the day, and they were SUPER comfortable on hot days. And yes, I wore them with socks, to keep my feet clean while still having much better ventilation than sneakers. No I don't care about the stereotype. They made my feet happy. That being said, I do like your videos in general. This is just one specific video that doesn't need to exist.
Love the addition of the lifestyle element to your channel Courtney. Also, your positive vibe and approach. I just got my first pair of white sneakers ;), thank you.
My dress shoe of choice is a lace up boot, much like the one in your thumbnail. Jeans, chinos or even a suit, I get compliments on them often by complete strangers (typically women). It is a delicate balancing act as they can come off a tad eccentric, but if you consider outfitting yourself like Jeremy Irons' "Alfred" in the DCEU Batman saga, it can totally work in your favor.
Some people are skeptical of men wearing sandals but during the summer months I will often wear a pair of Birkenstocks, it just gets too hot to be wearing socks and shoes, the are also comfortable, I think they are an ok sandal for men to wear.
Excuses. I live in Arizona and won’t be caught dead in a pair of sandals. Other than Crocs they are the dorkiest looking footwear you can put on your feet. Combine that with cargo shorts and you’ve gone full frumpy mode.
All of those shoes are horrible, but I shed a tear when you said you didn't like Vans. I actually think I'm heartbroken. I though we had something special. This relationship just isn't going to work out now at all. I got 22 custom pairs for Christs sake.
I wear Keen Uneek Sandals when I'm in shorts sometimes and quite frequently when I'm in beach towns. I've gotten nothing but compliments on them from both men and women. Not all sandals are the same. I hate Crocs and the few times I wore leather sandals my feet sweat really bad which defeats their purpose, so I won't wear them.
Another amazing under the radar brand of shoe is Beckett Simonon. The only downside is that they’re made-to-order so it can take up to 3 months to arrive but SO worth the wait Thanks for another solid video Court!! 🔥🔥🔥
I'll have to disagree with you about square toe shoes versus pointed shoes. I hate the look of pointed shoes, and think that a squared off looks way better. I also wear a size 13 shoe, so the elongated look looks terrible imo.
I was with you all the way...except...for when the image of that perfectly nice jodhpur boot flashed on the screen @10:52...nothing impractical about the hardware of a jodhpur, except maybe that it takes about five seconds more than a chelsea boot to put on...but, i think the jodhpur puts out a much more unique and cooler vibe than the ubiquitous chelsea
Your opinions are directly on point without any doubt in my mind. Each item directly reflected my own personal opinions. Especially those UGLY Crocs which my wife wears gardening. She doesn´t wear them outside of the yard so that is a good thing, but I cannot see her gardening without thinking that they´re ugly every time.
Courtney, I agree, heydudes/crocs are bad, I think the popularity is bc drs are showing how bad narrow pointed shoes are for the foot..bunions 🤮 I wear a 13, any dress shoe suggestion that won’t make it look like I’m going skiing?
Great advice, Courtney, but one small correction about the hardware on the shoes: on jodhpur boots the buckle actually serves a purpose. It's essentially a riding boot and you can tighten it around the ankle using the strap. Not useless at all. Of course, this only applies to real jodhpur boots, like the ones made by Carmina, not cheap imitations.
To cuff or not to cuff??? I own two pairs of Johnston and Murphy Connelly boots. In brown is the Wingtip and black is the cap toe. I wear them most often with nicer, straight leg jeans. I’m 55, 6’4” and 265. So, cuff or no cuff with the jeans???
I actually think those can look quite nice with a great simple combo, a pair of dark jeans black preferably and a nice loose fitted T-shirt, it’s giving Keanu Reeves vibes.
This outfit suits you very well Courney. It highlights your beautiful physique in an elegant non-provoking way. Best outfit I have seen you wearing. Keep it up!
I agree with all the shoes. That you have mentioned and it's funny some of them. I don't even have or don't even wear them. I do have great shoes about 13 pairs. That in great condition. I take care of them plus I have cowboy boots about 18 and I take great care of them. The point is that the footwear is very important for a man to make sure it looks great on them, not hideous. Good advice thank you
Gentlemen wear the shoes you feel comfortable wearing. Never wear shoes or clothes for anyone else except you. You shouldn't care what anyone else thinks about your style. You do you.
I have a sneaking suspicion we have a very different outlook on shoes. My view on shoes is the same as my view on watches or cars... use what suits the purpose. For instance if I'm going trail hiking I wear Altra trail running shoes, but if I'm going backwoods hiking I'm wearing a boot. In either of those cases the watch I'm wearing is either my G Shock or my Hamilton Field Khaki. Here's why... they work in those environments. Honestly, unless I need to wear a suit or I'm out on a boat I'm probably wearing a Field Khaki. If I'm wearing a suit I wear Oxfords and a dress watch. If I'm on a boat I wear shoes appropriate to the type of boat I'm on and a dive watch rated at 300 meters. PS my absolute pinnacle of shoe to wear around the inside of the house clicks not one but two of your no go shoes... Crocks flip flops. They sit right inside the door so when I get home I can take off my outside shoes and slip them on. Are the ugly? Yes, they are. But, they're insanely light and comfortable, and they last forever with indoor use. Slippers and house shoes only last me four to six months before they need to be replaced. My ugly "Crocks flops" last much longer. I'm on only my second pair since 2009.
Why is there an ad of you talking about your husbands ED? I believe it’s fake because it doesn’t really sound like you but they did use you in their video.
I wear square toed shoes and they are so comfortable and look great, so you are wrong. I do prefer Oxfords, and will get a pair as shoes need to be rotated so the leather 'rests' and can be aired.
While waiting for my friend at one of the top night clubs in London, I noticed a group of young ladies commenting and criticising the men around the club. I started a conversation and then asked their opinion about my style. One of the ladies pointed at my shoes and said they were not nice. That was a shocker because until that point I always chose shoes based on convenience and utility and did not imagine that anyone notices them. When I finally met the Italian friend I was awaiting for, I told him what just happened, and he agreed that my shoes were not nice. I was like, dude why you never told me! I told the story to my colleagues too and they confirmed. That was quite a realisation! I always pay attention to the shoes I wear from now on especially when going out. I do from time to time fallback to the utilitarian mindset when I go to the gym.
Excellent advice, Courtney, on the worst types of shoes that men wear. -Women truly appreciate shoes, and I've never understood why so many men don't understand that one of the first things a woman notices about how a man dresses is the style and quality of his shoes. As a fifty-eight year old man, I have completely retired sneakers, sandals, and boots from my wardrobe. Whether I'm wearing a suit, or a navy blazer with grey flannels, or a tweed sport coat with khaki chinos, I always wear medium brown quarter brogue oxfords, or full brogue wingtips in a walnut colour, or brown basket weave loafers or tassel loafers, all made by Allen Edmonds. Worn with a thin cushioning insole, these dress shoes are just as comfortable to wear as sneakers and they are a hundred times more stylish.
So here is a question. My family and I love to go on cruises for vacation. I typically wear a tan pair of chinos to the dining room or specialty restaurant. What would be a fashionable shoe to wear? By the way Hey Dudes are a big thing on cruise ships.
Well I confirmed my suspicion that, besides avoiding Crocs, most of my shoe preferences are against informed fashion advice. I needed a little more information on alternatives, but I do see now that the dress shoe sneaker is not good.
The only shoe I would wear on this list is Crocs, and it's for one reason that places them above all of the others: the shape. Crocs are more foot-shaped than any of the other shoes here, so they're the only shoes I'd consider, but I've never worn Crocs in my life and don't have any plans to. All of these other shoes have a high chance of causing bunions and weakening your feet. Arch support is actually not necessary at all most of the time, and I naturally overpronate, or at least I used to. Arch support, like orthotics, are braces, and a brace is something that you wear while you heal an injury, or to stabilize a problem area of the body. Arch support is meant to be temporary, so if you need it to function properly, then you likely need to change how you move. I found out that my ankles hurt so much because I was putting my weight on the inside of my feet, rather than the outside. I thought I had flat feet, but my arches had just collapsed. After about 7 months of wearing barefoot shoes and relearning how to stand, walk, run, and whatever else, I don't have any ankle pain, my muscles in my feet and legs are stronger, and the arches in my feet are doing great. What are barefoot shoes, you ask? They can be defined by 4 factors: thin, flexible, flat, and foot-shaped. The soles of these shoes are usually anywhere from 3mm-10mm thin, you can roll them up into a ball because they're so thin and flexible, there is no arch support or heel lift as they are completely flat, and the toe box is shaped like a foot to allow our toes to spread out naturally and do what they're meant to do. A few of the pairs that I own are the Vivo Barefoot Addis in all black, the Splay Freestyle in pine, and the Be Lenka Winter Boot 3.0 in walnut brown. All great looking, comfortable, and healthy. Another great thing about barefoot shoes is that most of the companies have ethics as a high priority, so you'll see many made in Europe or in nice facilities in Asia, no cheap labour here, and they use ethically sourced/ environmentally friendly materials. Pointy shoes may look nice, but they're literally ruining your body. You get used to the clown-like appearance of barefoot shoes pretty quickly. 😅
Sandals topic: I think that nice looking beach sandals can be cool, though, and look good on a guy. If your guy has sexy feet, aren't nice sandals showing the feet welcome, sometimes? Something like quality Hawaiians at the beach or poolside, should be nice, I think. What's your opinion on Addidas comfort slides for men? I have a couple of these (super comfortable for inside sandal or outside sandal), one with simple 3 white-stripes on navy blue background, and one all black with some inscribed design. What are your thoughts on these sandals?
Totall agree with you on most items in the list, except for square toed dress shoes. What exactly is everyone beef with these? At least squre toes look much better on men than those pointed toes, which can make any man look like a clown.
Hahaha...Courtney, I am a metal artist and I walk old railroad tracks looking for nice old railroad spikes that I weld together to make ornate crosses with...One day while driving across an old railroad crossing I spotted a bunch of railroad spikes about 10' off the road.
I knew there would be a Crocs horror story!! 😂 glad you’re okay and thanks for sharing this!
What a cool hobby, sorry to hear about your foot though.
I think getting those spikes is a felony just fyi, it’s considered “tampering with rail” and theft of DOT property.
Was it a rusty nail D:
Men SHOULD wear socks with sandals or slides. Nobody wants to look at a man's feet
As long as we’re learning about shoes… At 7:10, the correct order of the shoes being shown is: Oxford, blucher, and derby.
I use the Crocs only in my car after Work. I wear heavy duty boots at work all day. It feels nice to wear crocs while I drive home out of the work boots. Would I wear them casually no.
Can confirm. Stone mason here who arrives and leaves the job site in flip flops if weather permits. Service a utility? 110%
I never understood the hype around crocs. Wouldn't wear them even at a water park. And they're complete eye sores. And leather sandals are ugly as hell, especially if you're wearing socks
Crocs are garbage no doubt
Crocs work well in hospital settings/care facilities ( non-top vented versions).
I'm in full agreement. Except my friend is making all his groomsmen where them in his wedding. It sucks lol
Crocs are good if you live somewhere that you have to walk to/from a shower or toilet trailer, especially through gravel. Ugly as sin and I'd never wear them for any other reason, but every other pair of shower shoes I owned during that part of my life would blow out within a couple of months.
Any guy that disagrees with her take on Crocs should ask themselves ; How many girls have you picked up while wearing Crocs?
7:00 Funny how women don't like what is healthy. Square toe shoes and shoes with wide toe boxes such as Barefoot shoes are really good for your feet because they allow for your toes to spread out. This in turn can prevent a whole host of ankle, knee and hip issues from arising. Why does look have to be more important than functionality especially when it comes to health?
Why does look have to be more important?
Because "woman logic"...
@stargazer2504😂
I only wear crocs around the house as slippers, mainly because they’re so easy to wash off when you go out side and it’s raining and muddy and whatnot.
your pfp matches your comment bro
pretty much anything around the house is fair game imo. you're cleaning, cooking, yardwork, whatever. make an effort when you have guests or go out
I really appreciate this video, my partner used to make sure that i didn't make any wardrobe mistakes but when she passed away i've been trying my best to not make any mistakes. Thankfully with shoes it appears i'm doing ok.
the funny part is reading the comments in which guys apologize for wearing crocs "I only wear them to help homeless veterans."
Great approach! 👏🏼
@@CourtneyRyan❤
7:11 Yeah, no, I'm not wearing pointy shoes, my feet don't need to look even longer than they already are.
I'm in Healthcare. Everyone quickly adopted Crocs as the healthcare shoe of choice. After about a year, everyone quit wearing them. We were all developing plantar fasciitis! You never see healthcare workers in crocs anymore!
Really? I had plantar fasciitis for a long time. Started wearing crocs and it went away.
@@IRatherbeTrashthanADemocrat I also still see them in my hospital all the time, so idk.
Out of all the men I saw in public with wives and girlfriends, I never saw any of them wearing the shoes you recommended.
If you can dick her down well enough, she won't care if you're wearing Crocs. You could say you earned your way to wear Hey Dudes and Crocs 😂.
The leather is thin and flexible, the grew on me
I like florsheim, too. I've got a few pairs off of ebay. Brand new ones are way too expensive for my budget.
I was skeptical at first but you got me. Yours are very sensible points (and well-delivered).

Can agree with everything else, but the point about square toed dress shoes broke my heart Courtney...
I thought the same thing when she said that, and i looked down at my Cody James boots. 😄
What are those options? I struggle to find really high quality shoes/boots here in Mexico.
I would name Carlo Ronaldo, El Gran Par, Brantano, to name a few brands that I have tried, they manufacture leather shoes with great quality, but I am sure there are many more brands especially from the central region.
@@SweetMandolinbyLG I'll check them out. Thanks for the response!!
However, most men are unlikely to point that out to a woman because it seems to me that women also get a free pass regarding what they wear.
true
Why are busted up white or dad shoes all the rage right now with women in their 20s 🥴
Ballerinas for example. Always looks like an elementary school gym class for grown up women.
You cannot wear an Oxford, derby etc when you need a semi- casual shoe what do you suggest ? ( not a sneaker )
I take care of my shoe polishing and cleaning but once a year my dry cleaner also uses a cobbler and when I pick them up they look new, the laces replaced and it's inexpensive for what you get.
whats the brand of the boots on the thumbnail?
Lol🤣
You're right. Thank you for the advice.
What kind of military boots specifically? I’ve been recently interested in buying myself a pair too
You can get some from an army-navy surplus store or from a P.X. The same type of boots issued to soldiers or very similar to them.
I’ve worn the same two pairs of Danner Acadias on patrol since 2005. I use real shoe polish and edge dressing. They still look great. They can be resoled as well.
The meindls are also really great. I got the M2 and the desert. I use them also as motorcycle boots.
I love white sneakers. They are high maintenance but worth it. Right now in winter I am in fuzzy on thr inside black and big on the outside boots.
Most all-round useful shoes I have are Cons Chuck Taylor lows in light blue/grey with the diamond sole.
Whats your opinion on Heelys? Specifically the ones that light up when you walk.
Got a first date coming up and I want to impress
Agree with most of it, apart from the Hey Dude's. As a very casual footwear, they look fine. Especially in the summertime. Perfectly suitable for a bit of window shopping, roaming the streets at weekends, etc.
Crocks + slippers + boots (water proof). Are must have at home. Plus I usually have 2+ additional pairs of slippers for guests, just in case.
square toes are much healthier for your foot and ultimately your knees and hips, Court.
Your toes are designed to spread rather than be crunched in
I watched a similar video from Antonio Centenio a while ago, and after that started investing in nice footwear, mainly boots (Chelsea, dress boots) as well as sports shoes for specific purposes (basketball, walking) .
They're
Hard No!
You're exactly right on all of this. Sandals and socks are Extremely comfortable.
Chakos - I used to have something similar but only ever wore them while kayaking, or at the beach. No bueno for any kind of hiking.
But what if you're a grown Man that identifies as a 10 year old? Then can I wear hey dudes?
Depends, where u r, what u r doing....

I really like the square toe shoes. Those are the only ones that don't cause an inflammation at my big toe...
The only downside is that they’re made-to-order so it can take up to 3 months to arrive but SO worth the wait
Thanks for another solid video Court!! 🔥🔥🔥
Where do I get those boots @ 13:00? Thanks in advance.
Hey, Courtney and everyone.
Hi Yosef!
Crocs? Never heard of it!
I hadn’t heard of hey dudes..
That's a good thing
Courtney, I agree, heydudes/crocs are bad, I think the popularity is bc drs are showing how bad narrow pointed shoes are for the foot..bunions 🤮 I wear a 13, any dress shoe suggestion that won’t make it look like I’m going skiing?
Love the honesty here thank you. Pretty much agree with everything you said.
As a guy who thinks I have decent taste in clothing, you are so right.
My feet, my choice.
I'm still wearing the same pair of New Balances I took off a dead body in 2015. Does the fashion community frown on that?
Before I watch the video, I must admit that I'm still stuck in the 90s. Doc Marten 1460s are still my go-to shoes 98.7% of the time...
Keep it up!
I'm glad she didn't mention Vibram Fivefinger shoes because i'm NEEEEVER giving those up.
I don’t think people are walking around in those regularly. 😂
Good advice thank you
Are you a cowboy? Asking for a friend.

@@BWater-yq3jx hahaha I know I was so confused. I was like did I accidentally click on one of her vids and then I noticed that it was an ad.
I wear square toed shoes and they are so comfortable and look great, so you are wrong. I do prefer Oxfords, and will get a pair as shoes need to be rotated so the leather 'rests' and can be aired.
My two mainline shoes are Air maxes and black shell toes. Those are my everydays. I make it look good
While waiting for my friend at one of the top night clubs in London, I noticed a group of young ladies commenting and criticising the men around the club.
Clothes make the man, and women notice it waaaaaaay more than guys realize.
I wouldn't get caught wearing Hey Dudes to carry trash cans to the street...
Totally agree about men in flip flops and sandals. Well said.
Yup if I start wearing hey dudes or crocs please kill me since it means I have given up on life anyway.
Hi Cortney what do you think of Origin boots as casual wear?
Another reason I wouldn't go on a cruise ship !
