Sam always loved this John song. You've got the ear the touch and style no other can touch. Everything is perfect. Georges lead is like George was doing it. Johns rhythm you've mastered as well. Love it Sam👍👍👍🎸🎸
I always felt like this song struggled to live up to the original, that being said George’s guitar work is so aggressive and even atonal at times. Despite being a big Beatles fan most of my original music is very distorted and atonal, so those qualities being present in a pre-65 Beatles track makes me very happy. You’re the king of guitar covers Sam!
Friends, you owe it to yourself to check out the Live at the BBC version of Slow Down (and all the other tracks). John’s vocal is on fire, fueled by Ringo’s driving drumming & George’s dynamic solo. To paraphrase John, that track proves that no one in the world could touch them as far back as August ‘63. Thx to Sam, Michael, Dom, Ryan & Paul for being so Gear!
Interesting thing is that there's actually a total of 4 guitar parts on this one. John and George's live parts from the basic track and then two George overdubs on the vocal tracks. The guitar solo was also double tracked, though only one is used in the final mixes. George Martin also played a piano part live with the Beatles in addition to the prominent overdubbed half speed piano.
Since you’ve actually played both, can you tell me the difference between a 6122 and a double-cut 6120? I’ve heard somewhere that the Gent was the high-end version of the Nashville but I can’t confirm it.
I always thought of this as one of their weakest covers. It's clear they had much less time than they wanted to produce their records. As such, there are some pretty evident mistakes within the mix, I.e. John singing two different sets of lyrics on the second verse, a few guitar mistakes from George here and there. Also, speaking of George, I thought he played the 6119. The tone sounds much thicker than that of the 6122.
It is one of my least favorites but I find George’s sloppy distorted playing charming. I did the solo on my Tenny in my YT shorts if you wanna hear the difference between 6119 and 6122 through my same amp
You made George’s fumbling solo sound like it was on purpose 💙💙💙

Michael’s Gretsch + your AC30 = tone heaven
🤟
I've always loved the solo on this song. Great playing Sam👏👏👏
Always doing George (and John) justice. Absolutely amazing work. Love it!
George's guitar tone really rocks on and so dirty 🔥
I also love the 'sloppy' solo he played on

Agree, it definitely feels like the recording was rushed
One of my favorite Beatle covers. Awesome job!
You just gave me a whole new appreciation for this early Beatles song. Thank you.
Love it! You always do great work replicating the nuances and 'mistakes' of the original.
Great work Sam, I’ve always loved this cover by The Beatles.
Good spot on John moving from the barre C7 in the intro to the open c7 in the verses
reminds me of the guitar riffs on Old Brown Shoe
Sounds awesome Sam, especially the Country Gent 🙂🎵🎶🎸🎸🎸

thanks, great song. some pretty feeble playing by george, which you capture perfectly :)
Great work, as usual Sam, thanks. :)
Great stuff as always, Sam! Any chance we could get a Hey Diddle cover in the future?
Excellent 🎸💯👍
Fab Cover Sam! Sounds just like the record!
Very good!
tied with Bad Boy for my favorite early period solos! nice, sam.
I always thought of these two songs being somewhat sisters: boring songs with great solos!
@ i couldn’t disagree more. 😁 i LOVE both songs.
I love that old Rick you've got going there.
Thanks, it belongs to TH-cam legend Msokes
Man that Rickenbacker looks great
great cover! have you considered doing any velvet underground tracks with the gent?
Yes!
Heyyyyyyy viva los beatles
What other songs do you plan on doing on the 320?
As much early Beatles as I can
he lent guitars good lad
On George’s flubs I can just hear Paul wishing he could be the lead guitarist as well as the bass player.

It’s mostly cosmetic. They’re very similar but I want to say the gent might be slightly larger?
Sup cover Sammy
Scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point, lol. Still, I love to see anything that the boys did...
This isn’t dear prudence :(
I've always had some kind of dislike for this song. A very boring and repetitive cover. But now hearing you play it sure sounds way more interesting.
Listen to ‘Radio Wallaton remix of this track, I really enjoyed it.
