Would've loved to have seen him keep going in the Abbey Road direction if the band had stayed together. Feel by 69 he'd made his peace with just being the lead guitarist in the Beatles and there was going to be other stuff outside it
Many of these solos are by Paul... Watch the recently released videos about the recording of Beatles albums: it happened several times that Georges Martin ended up giving Paul a solo because Georges couldn't do it. So, for example, the Taxman solo! But you are absolutely right, the solos heard in this video serve the music, and that alone. No technical displays, just music.
I’ve listened to the Abbey Road album nearly 15,000 times since 1970. I’ve listened as well to many covers of this particular medley. Yours is by far the best.
Abbey Rd side 2 is the greatest music ever produced by mankind. At least 15,000 times for me too. The Dolby Atmos version on my killer stereo is a religious experience for me.
Congrats on 20k subscribers, well deserved : you're definitely one of the most on point Beatles covers channels out there, and this video is no exception!
I played in a Beatle tribute band and we did Abbey Road live. I played all the lead electric parts plus acoustic on here comes the sun. It was the most fun musical project I’ve ever done. I probably put in 100 hours practicing to memorize it. Great job on this video, it brought back good memories.
The musicianship was on a whole other level with Abbey Road. The album is intricate and complex musically. It's a masterpiece. You played this really well. This stuff is not easy.
Man just absolutely superb! You got a new sub for sure. My dad died about 5 years ago, and was the biggest Beatles fan. He was also a guitarist and had the most beautiful voice I'd ever heard. He would have loved your channel and I can see him watching this video in particular a thousand times. Now I'm crying! Miss you dad. Thank you so much for this.
George was such an amazing and creative guitarist. So many of his parts were all over the neck, elaborate and always perfect for the song. A lot of it you don’t appreciate since they are buried in the mix but especially the white album and abbey road he was truly at his most creative. Thank you for your videos which highlight these magnificent parts.
This is brilliant, yet it evokes the same aching sadness that I always feel when I see the final photos and hear the final chords of the Abbey Road album
True what someone said here.Harrison was only hitting his peak on their last album! So he was 26years old during the Beatles last recording. They all play great on Abbey Road and Lennon,s playing is a revelation.
Love from France. I am still as amazed by the beauty of his solos as when I first heard them in 1970. And even, I am more and more surprised, I find them always more beautiful. Most bear the mark of Paul, a great melodic soloist.
OMG this was just AMAZING! Really brought a smile to my face. Terrific from start to finish - perfect musicianship, the right instruments, everything. BRAVO!
Im knocked out. Im not going to even try and pick holes in this. It's as close to the real thing as you can get. I have to take my hat off to you on this. Beautiful playing. Im afraid to say much more. I have nothing but admiration for your guitar skills. Great job and well done. Yes of course you passed the audition.!!
Wow Sam, what an awesome video. You deserve 20k subs, so glad I stumbled across your channel at the start of the year! You are a gifted musician of the highest quality. 20k is only the start! 👏 Keep doing what you do Sam 👏 And can I just say the sound of your Les Paul in particular throughout the medley is gorgeous, I can see why she's your baby! 😂😍 Loved the video Sam thanks for uploading! And congrats on 20k subs!
Your not only an inspiration for fellow Beatles lovers but up and coming guitar players such as myself. This being your greatest tribute of them all! Truly appreciate all your hard work Sam keep it up😁
Man!! Thank your for putting so much care and effort into this video, this is my favorite piece of music of all time. I always wondered who cool would be watching the beatles playing this masterpiece live and you made it possible!! The guitar tones and parts sounds so close to the original, seriously thanks for it! 👏🏼👏🏼
I didn't think I could be more amazed and impressed by the Beatles until I saw this. Seeing the visual of what they were doing makes me appreciate their genius even more, which I didn't think was possible. Their choices of where to go are so unique. The parts are so complementary. Truly amazing. Thanks for all the effort you took to make this and for sharing it!
Wonderful job as usual! You're the first to get John's part on the rhythm track of 'The End' right, with the capo on the 5th fret, just like the photos from that session! Also the Bass VI on 'Golden Slumbers' / 'Carry That Weight'. You're the best Congratulations
I have always wondered about the guitar parts in this section, and have attempted to figure some of it out, but YOU have really done it! Kudos on spending so much time to do this right. I hear now the crystal clear parts that were played on those Epiphones, and "Lucy" the Gibson Les Paul is very well brought back to life here with your Paul, and to see you holding the notes and even sliding down from "C" to "B" as the phrase ends shows the subtle, gentle touch of George. Amazing!
I wish I could like this video a million times, absolutely fantastic, the playing is exact and i'm obsessed with Beatles' guitar tones, so this is heaven
Congratulations on 20k subs, Sam! I've been looking forward to seeing you cover the Medley, especially The End! I absolutely loved all of the guitar solos by Paul, George, and John!
That was a tour de force of guitar playing! Mesmerizing. Harrison really got to showcase on this medley…his guitar playing really is historically good through this.. LENNON too but George finally got to play a lot of fills! Great job.
That's a lot of work you've put in here--it would be interesting to hear you talk about the challenges you faced and the insights you gained while putting the medley together.
Alright, Sam….I’m 71 and will begrudgingly give you my utmost respect on this sequence. I saw the Fabs on the Sullivan Show that day in 1964 and I had beaten down my mom for a $14.95 department store guitar one week later. I self-learned “Hold Your Hand” within 24 hours and never looked back. I’m pretty darned good at replicating their music but…but….you’re better. There. I said it. 😇 #respect
Yes. This is a great channel. Sam does a fantastic job, and his duplication seems to be spot on as to how a phrase is actually played. I figure a Beatles tune out (for my education and improving my ear) and then I come here to see if I've got it right. And many times... I didn't. Thanks Sam and keep it going!
Amazing work! I was a kid when the 1st Beatles album came out and literally grew up with them. I'm so happy to see they still reach young people like you.

George really improved so much as a guitarist from ‘68-69’
Improved? Not at all. He just tried new styles of playing/creating. He was an amazing guitarist all along.
Would've loved to have seen him keep going in the Abbey Road direction if the band had stayed together. Feel by 69 he'd made his peace with just being the lead guitarist in the Beatles and there was going to be other stuff outside it
His lead works during this period are so delicate and tasteful. Stuffs like Don't Let Me Down and Two Of Us are so blissful to listen to.
Wish he was as proficient on slide as he became in the 70s, it added a whole new dimension to his style.
@@BeatlesCentricUniverse How's that not improving?
George played for the song and not for himself. Sublime.

Think your math is off, there’s only 19,000 days total since 1970 so you would have had to listen to the entire album almost once a day for 54 years.
@@thefonzkiss Hahaha, 20,000 times! And about 1000 times just since I got my killer stereo and the Abbey Road Dolby Atmos remix!
@@thefonzkiss That's less than once per day. How is the math off?
@@strikerbowls791 Because no one on planet earth has listened to the same album every day for five decades, you goon.
I can't get over how great that Les Paul sounds!
Gibson makes great pickups 👍
@@dogpd3I actually put OX4 low wind PAF’s in there 😎
@@sampopkin amazing pickups.

Thanks! Coming from you that means a lot

So I guess Sam P. Is the Sun King? Okay, he's got my vote 🥂
Two of my favorite Beatles channels in one place???? Whaaaaaaaaat.
Those last 12 seconds of the end mark possibly the most beautiful guitar parts of the entire Beatles catalog. Perfect arpeggios
I just sat frozen (at work) for 20 minutes listening to your fabulous re-creation. Bravo!!
No one does it better than you, Sam. Out of all the Beatle cover channels, you are the best!! You are the king!!
he did it.. the madman.. He did the whole damn thing!
I played in a Beatle tribute band and we did Abbey Road live. I played all the lead electric parts plus acoustic on here comes the sun. It was the most fun musical project I’ve ever done. I probably put in 100 hours practicing to memorize it. Great job on this video, it brought back good memories.
Absolutely the best pop rock opera
The musicianship was on a whole other level with Abbey Road. The album is intricate and complex musically. It's a masterpiece. You played this really well. This stuff is not easy.
WOW! This obviosly was a lot of hard work. Great work as always, Sam. I'm very impressed how good it sounds. Road to 50k now!
No one noticed he’s wearing each guy’s album cover colours for the end solos.
Only for connoisseurs…
And people say they weren’t great musicians. They did some great guitar work on this album
FUAH CONGRATULATIONS DUDE!!
The work you did is incredible, I still remember when you were a channel that commented on my videos to correct me haha!
😂
Nice!. I'm a Gretsch Country Gent guy but that Les Paul sounds particularly great on Polythene Pam and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window.
congrats on 20K to the best guitarist on youtube. much deserved. here's to many more!
It’s all just filler until you release your next covers
@@sampopkin Sam, you are a freaking beast! Btw your Old Brown Shoe discussion left me scratching my head.

That 6 string bass is beyond amazing!
Shows how musical George was.....funky long before it became a thing, Paul must have been impressed.......

Absolutely. George Martin FAILED, in my opinion, in burying so many subtle yet important guitar and drum parts.
I would swear that this was the actual record if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. The tone on that Les Paul 😮
Phenomenal Sam! You even have the switch from right to left channel on Her Majesty! 🤩
14:45 love the outfit changers for each player
Super Superior Sam!
"and in the end the MUSIC you take is equal to the MUSIC you make!!!!"
I like how at 14:46- there's one casino with a bigsby and pickguard, and one's a hardtail. Indicating which is Paul and John
that tone for George is perfect I love the little solo on carry that weight and it sounded spot on !
george harrison was very detail to choose the sound of his guitar 😍😍😍

Abbey Road had the most tasteful and exquisite guitar parts of all the Beatle albums and you just masterfully recreated it.

5:38 John here is literally singing "Here comes the Sun..." while playing the chords of Something. Genius.
I never caught that! No clue if that was intentional, but man that is genius.
Bravo!
yeah, this video really highlights how gorgeous George's playing was on that album (and before as we all know).
