    1. Broad spectrum
    SPF 30 or 40 is fine
    2. Zinc or Titanium Oxide 7-9%
    3. Nice if it’s invisible. Or tinted.
    4. Reapply thru the day if u r in sun all day.
    5. Waterproof is good.
    Recommend: elta MD

    I feel it's important to note the amount of sunscreen we need to use in order to obtain the SPF that appears on the product package is a LOT. 1/4 teaspoon for our face, and a shot glass for our body. I prefer a higher SPF due to the fact we need so much and if I use less, then the SPF is diminished. Neutrogena came out with a study relating to this that talks about the reason a very high SPF is ideal because so many people do not apply the proper amount, thus diminishing the SPF. So, accordingly, I won't use anything lower than an SPF 50 for my face and neck ( I cannot find anything higher in a mineral sunscreen)and I use SPF 100 (chemical) on my hands, and arms daily.

    Just reordered the Trifecta and Ella. I love it! It really moisturizes so well. I’m hoping I like the sunscreen too. Dr Karam seems very sincere. It’s obvious he practices what he preaches because his face and skin are luminous looking.

    I just found your videos 😀 I’m 74 and my mom lived til 103 so I’ve got a ways to go and she only used PONDS COLD CREAM - u would have never guess her age. You really care for your patience and it’s a breath of fresh air ! I’ve had a facelift years ago and an excruciatingly painful CHEMICAL PEEL 1989 - I can still feel the pain 😀 - what sunscreen do u recommend? Am looking to get rid of lines around eyes and lips and everyone here in Bradenton Fl says they are the best - Am looking forward to ordering your products and watching all your videos - makes me want to move to San Diego

    I have been using Elta for both face and body the last few years. This sunscreen brand in my opinion, is the best. It literally keeps my skin cooler from the sun’s rays. I feel less heat on my skin when I am in the sun. The other sunscreens I have used does not do that. Plus, my skin tans extremely fast. Elta sunscreens prevents that. More than excellent!!

    Physical filters aren’t necessary if you’re from Europe and have access to more modern sunscreens. The filters in European and Asian sunscreens are so much more advanced. Forget about this stuff from the US.

    Just as some additional info, titanium dioxide isn’t as broad-spectrum as zinc oxide is (the former screens mainly the UVB range, the latter covers UVB & UVA).

    I have melasma so I’ve been through so many sunscreen types and brands. EltaMD has topped my list and is my favorite. Doesn’t settle in wrinkles, chemical free, minimal amount required so a little goes a long way, doesn’t make dry skin appear worse or crackly on skin. Feels nice and looks natural

    Thank you for this Video. Since a year or longer I am search for a harmful chemical free sunscreen. Unfortunately in my country in Europe we don’t have that product you are recommending. This week I spend again hours to search for it in drugstores, pharmacy, organic shops, cosmetic shops and online. I found 1-2 facial sunscreen chemical free based on mineral and zincoxid, waterfree and UVA. There was no single sunscreen I found that was saying broadspecre. They all only mention UVA. 🙁☀️

    Since I watched one of Dr Karam videos about sunscreen I've been in a hunt to find one that works for me and my life style, I like to wear makeup everyday which makes a little more complicated to find a physical sunscreen that looks like foundation and is not to expensive, finally at the end of last year I found the one for me. I just writing this in case someone still can't find the right sunscreen for them. Saie, Slip Tint Broad Spectrum Clean SPF35 Sunscreen Tinted Moisturizer it's a wonderful option, if you find Elta MD or It Cosmetics CC Cream to thick for you, has everything for a dry, mature skin, has 15% Zinc a bunch of loving skin ingredients, has a lot of shades, is not thick or pasty at all, it doesn't migrate or irritate my eyes, covers dark spots beautifully, looks very natural, not matte not to dewy, I wear it as the last part of my morning skin care routine, my moisturizer and foundation so it also saves time.

    What treatments are available for hyperpigmentation for people of color? I know lasers are a no no. Thank you in advance.

    • @jt8142
      @jt8142 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Some lasers are fine for POC (e.g. Clear & Brilliant). The most important thing is to consult with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon that has extensive experience treating patients with your skin color, and has access to multiple devices so they can select the right in-office treatment for your skin concern (s).

    • @graceandfaith1046
      @graceandfaith1046 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jt8142 Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to reply. I personally know a lot of people (Asians to Africans) who are frustrated with hyperpigmentation (sun, acne, injuries, on face, back, limbs) but are told to avoid lasers and certain peels, but don't want to go the seemingly only option of the sketchy bleaching route. I will definitely look into this and share the info. Now the search begins. Wish me luck.

    People claim UVA is worse but I highly doubt that. If you think about it logically, people who live in sunnier climates with higher uv indexes look worse. UV index only accounts for UVB. Just compare someone who lives in Seattle their whole life and never wore sunscreen and both worked in similar jobs and did similar hobbies, the one who lives in Seattle would look better hand down. I know this because my aunt lives in Seattle and my mother in Florida. Both never smoked, only 2 years age difference, both don't sunbathe or use tanning beds. Both don't spend a ton of time outdoors. My mom is younger and looks more sun damaged. Case in point, stop the fear mongering with UVA.
    Also it's zinc oxide and titanium DIOXIDE not titanium oxide. As a plastic surgeon you should be a little better informed on the exact nomenclature.
