I just recently became an esthetician and I literally worship dr. Karam🙌 These videos give more information and tips than my school did! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge ❤️
Here is a tip: I apply it also on my neckline, cleavage and back of hands, those are the parts of your body that will tell your age and are often neglected
Yeah, that's why I won't "bother" getting a lift as my aged hands from working with dogs outside gives it away🤔😱😭. Is that why Dolly parton wears gloves I 🤔 wonder
@@mirasingh7428 Retinol products can be used on any parts that look crepey, including hands, neck, elbows, and face. Because retinol-based products can cause the skin to flake, its best to apply a moisturizer over them. You should use a really good moisturizer, like uriage xémose cérat relipidant anti-irritations,cerave...overnigand morning spf is important.
My dermatologist told me that using it on the neck is iffy. While sleeping, your neck usually has some folds in it, and the retinol can gather and cause irritation. That did happen to me.i had two itchy red lines. I use it on my chest area that has damaged skin, and he said that was OK. I see it working after only a few weeks.
Retinol around the eyes works wonders! I used to have DEEP lines underneath my eyes. After using Retinol for six months, the deep lines have COMPLETELY disappeared. I am shocked! Also, the Retinol has reduced my dark circles significantly! I seriously look 20 years younger just from using Retinol on a consistent basis for six months straight. This stuff is golden!
Been on Retin A for 41yrs started at 28yrs old now 69yrs old have beautiful skin. No pores, no discoloration but with that I never had a tan was always very careful and always used sun blocks.
Love your video!! I am 70 years old & I was the CEO of a Out PAIENT SURGICAL CENTER for 35 years. Did lots of plastic surgery. This much I know your genes play a very major role on how you age. Of course you still have to take care of your body. Skin exercise diet mental Heath it’s a package. At 70 I am 5’6” weight 110. I exercise 5 days a week. Unfortunately I am not well but will not give up. I have a daily skin care routine & yes I almost gave up on retinoids! But with my connections with Plastic Surgeons I reduced the percentage to enable me to apply it every day & gradually work up to a higher %. Thanks again for your video. By the way I got my fathers genes ! Thank You Dad. God bless you DAD and may you Rest In Peace🙏. My mom had a facelift at 55. We also lost her from COVID. GREAT PARENTS. I am very blessed. Thanks again. Keep up the great work !
Now you inspire me, I'm 62 and trying to take care of my skin.I have a 17 yr. old granddaughter who uses moisturizers and takes very good care of her skin. She said she learned from watching me.I stay out of the sun even though I tan easy and use sun screen even in the winter months
Thank you so much. Very, very helpful. I had heard somewhere that you shouldn’t use retinol around the eyes. That’s where I need it most. So glad you clarified it. You are the one TH-cam doctor that I trust.
You are so right! I’ve been using retin A for over 20 years. I’m in my 60’s and still get compliments on how good my skin looks from younger women. Slow and steady does win!
Question: Do you use it around the eye areas? I’ve been using low dose about twice a week for the past 6 months. No reds or irritation for me, but since day one I noticed that the days I use retinol cream my eyes feel dry and uncomfortable. I’ve also seen comments under YT videos about using retinol and causing permanent dry eyes (when I was looking up information to decide if I am going to try), however there are more videos in which doctors demonstrate applying retinol cream on the Whole Face including eye areas… this has prevented me to use retinol on a higher frequency…

@@Mystical73 I never said sunscreen at NIHGT! I am not stupid nor an idiot. Now if you think that sleeping with sunscreen on your face is beneficial then do it.
Thank you so much for educating us on Retinol. It is so excellent to hear from a Dr about skin. I am so tired of influencers talking about skin care which I never listen to it. I only listen to Dr because they study this stuff for years. I appreciate you taking your time and teaching us about looking young.
This is so informative! I’m 63 and my whole life have thought you needed a PHD to figure out the use of retinols, never knew the difference between Retin A and these retinols with their varying concentrations so wouldn’t touch them as I thought they made your face break out if you got it wrong. I have great skin and take good care of it but am now stopping the waste of money towards collagen and elastin gels and going forward with the start of retinols at a low concentration thanks to you 👍. Great work with these videos. Have saved them to refer to!
Thank you for mentioning using retinol around the eyes! I’ve been so wary of using it around my eyes and that’s where I see the most signs of aging. I also wanna say thanks for showing us how to go about using retinol. I’m still stuck at twice weekly after about a month although I don’t have any reactions. Learning a lot from your skin school and loving it!
Same here, but when I put it on my eyelids I get bad irritation. I've read some people who say to use a lower concentration on these areas as the skin is thinner so prone to irritation. Or mix with moisturiser. Same with neck.
Retinol sporadically, yet consistently, for over a decade, has been priceless for me. I don’t get peels, lasers, micro needling, Botox, etc and my face at least is pretty good for 54. My body not so much bc of sun exposure and no retinol lol
You can use retinol on your body. Also castor oil is amazing. Also use high quality aloe vera it protects the skin from the sunlight too. I'd recommend a good VitD3 spray to take twice a day.
I'm glad l watched this. I was in the process of stopping retinol because after 4 months l saw no change. I will now not stop. I'll keep going. Thanks. I trust.
After using Retin-A for 9 years, I have found it to be an effective skincare product. As a moisturizer, I rely on Vitamin-E, and I don't use any other skincare products. My skin is in great condition, and I appreciate that this simple routine is both effective and cost-effective.
I always use Vitamin-E with Retin-A. I just combine them together and apply to my face and neck. Previously, I used Retin-A only at night, but for the past three years, I've been applying it in the morning as well. I'm in my late 40s, and using this combination has been beneficial for my skin. By the way, sun cream is very important.
@@jingmoshanshuiu are right. I use retin A for 23 yrs. Best antiaging, pimple, pore care. Mix with hydroquinone for hyperpigmentation. But must be patient for results.

Thank you! Very well said & I love the fact that you don’t push your product & want to educate us on how to properly use retinol. Love all your tips, tricks & educational info for us aging women.
Thanks for including info about applying it in the eye area. It’s the first time I’ve come across this info on TH-cam after so many years. I saw other users claim to AVOID the eye area, which didn’t make sense to me. The eye area HAS skin too so why not. It didn’t make sense to NOT use there too. I’ve been using tretinoin for years and excited to now start, cautiously with the eye area. Thanks Doc! 😎🌺👍🏼
I am not suprised he didn't mentioned dry eyes as side effect using retinol (because his product has retinol as ingredient) There are thousand of reports about people getting dry eyes permanent which causes burning and makes your life to hell. Search for it ...
YES YES YES. I use Tretinoin cream about 5 times a week. I also use the Trifecta. Never had redness or irritation, just dryness from these products. But, wow…just wow. My skin is so bright, smooth, clear, and even. I’ve never had any kind of in office treatment that has my skin looking this good! Retinols really are worth the hype!!!

@@dramirkaramHii I am from India and I am using tretinoin consistently from last 2years but sadly I have not achieved any result at all... neither peeling nor any other change....I don't have acne but I have dull and textured skin..I want to achieve flawless beautiful skin but don't know what to do..I am using tretinoin with all the rules now I feel like giving up on it😢...please help me🙏
I've used Retin A since my 20s, over 35 years. My skin loves it and is seleom drying. My only regret is my dermatologist told me not to use it on my neck. I only started using it there a few years ago.
I cycle ... one night 0.3%, one night 1%, sandwiched between multi peptide serum and moisturiser. That way I have no irritation or dryness at all. Vitamin C is in the morning routine. I did see small changes fairly quickly (did not introduce the 1% right away ... that came after months of microdosing), but now a good 2 years in it makes a huge difference. It really builds up.
Can I ask what type of peptide serum and moisturiser are you using? I am struggling to find something for my skin, and it's so confusing with so many skin brands
@@lori4423 Of course. I use either the multi peptide serum by The Ordinary (formerly known as "Buffet" now simply called Multi Peptide Serum) or No 7 Future Renew Serum, which I am testing at the moment. It feels great but I am not sure it justifies the much higher price point to the Ordinary one. It sure is nicer in texture though. At daytime I use the Vichy Mineral 89 serum for Hyaluronic Acid. It is fairly simple, does not smell of anything and is super refreshing and light weight. I love it very much. So if you just want to go for a strong hydration with very low risk of any irritation I find that a great option as well. After the retinol I use the Vitamin E night cream from the Body Shop. Again nothing fancy. It apparently has a bit of a scent but I smell nothing (I do not like heavy scents and they tend to break me out). I feel all I need is a bit richer, thicker simple cream to seal it all in and keep me moisturised over night. Not really aiming to add more active ingredients there - just enabling all I put on to work without the skin getting dry and irritated.
@@Tikap73 thank you so much! I don't like fragrances either and they irritate my skin quite a lot, so I try to be careful in choosing any type of serum or cream. But it has become such a stryggle to find the right type for hydration, and at the same time won't clog the pores! Thank you again ☺️
My morning routine- cleanse, tone, vitamin C, moisturiser, SPF 50. Evening routine: cleanse, niacinamide serum, hylaruonic serum, Tretinoin( pea-size) moisturiser. This is my 6 month of using tretinoin and my skin has become acclimatised to it. My skin is glowing and not a pimple or wrinkle in sight. Initiallý, I was on Isotretinoin for 6 months and then my dermatologist prescribed tretinoin for preventative measures at 0.05%. Will soon go up to 0.1%. I'm 40 years old. My mom is 72 and looks like she's in her early 50s. Tretinoin did that❤ Works for me. ❤😍
I found glycolic acid is also really good for treating lines and wrinkles - problem is, a lot of people over use it. Should be once/twice a week max. for 5-10% concentrations.
Thanks for providing this info 😊 I just found this out earlier today too. I’m still breastfeeding so unfortunately I can’t use the retinol product after using it for 1.5 week!! I am stopping now! However, I may consider using the vitamin C serum in the meantime, until I stop breastfeeding.
Yes. I also use it around the eye area (especially under my eyes and under my brows just like he showed), put moisturizer and add Vaseline around my eyes and mouth. No irritation. But some may be more careful regarding this area.
No matter what level my dermatologist had me on it was too drying on my skin and after almost a year I stopped using Retin A. However I switched to Retinaldehyde and it made such a wonderful difference on my skin! My dermatologist agreed it is a good option for me. I use Osmosis but recently ordered a .2% Retinaldehyde by TruOlogy a new brand. It has one of the highest concentrations of Retinaldehyde.
You are a good teacher. I've been doing it right! My daughter started incorporating after seeing and feeling the difference in my skin. I rotate the Vit C not combining. My retinol is only 12 hour release. Hope you had a nice Father's Day.
I'm 30 and I talked to a friend about skin, after posting my new skincare routine consisting of active ingredients. She didn't say it outright, but I got the feeling that she basically think skincare is a bit of a waste of time and money, since ageing is mostly due to sun exposure and genes anyway. She is totally right! The way she put it made me think to myself "well, I do what I want and your decision is not my decision". Being careful with SPF, taking collagen and using active ingredients are great non invasive ways of preventing premature ageing. It also annoys me a little extra because she's 27, her collagen is peaking, and she probably feels amazing. I know I looked my best at 26-27. So it's easy for her to brush anti-aging away, because it's literally not even on her mind. I'm definitely doing my skincare routine from now on, and we'll see what happens when she comes into her 30's. I'm quite certain at some point she'll ask me about my skincare because she realises she wants to take care of her skin, too. It's happened before lol :)
I’m 37 and black African, but I do use tretinoin, peptides etc these active ingredients make a huge difference to my skin. Not like I ever look my age due to being blessed with melanin, but we still have to care for our skin so we can enhance our looks. She will definitely come back to you!
@@ZazezooDo you use any natural products in your skincare routine? I'm still trying to get one together for myself & I'm in my 40s. I have a small routine that I've been doing for several months, but I've not seen any improvements with it.
I’m 53 and just got on a skincare program about 3 months ago due to several factors. But trust me when I say, she will regret not doing a skincare routine even at 27, some day. My son is 25 and I just got him a bunch of ‘Go pure’ products. Back in the day I tanned almost everyday for 13 yrs in a tanning bed. Then went through a horrible 18 yr addiction to opiates and didn’t look after my skin at all. I thought there was no hope. But my before and after pics, only 16 days apart when I started using Go Pure are jaw dropping. Good for you for starting now. Good luck!
I was ready to give up on retinol until I saw this video. I have sensitive skin but at 53 I really need something more than just my regular skincare. I am going to try it again using your tips. 🤞
Yes, I was 59/60 I had menopause, and suddenly I had to start using moisturiser and creams and lotions and potions 😂😂😂 I never used anything before that, had great skin. ....but you suddenly dry out after menopause!!
You are one of the best, Dr. Karam Your podcast is very informative. You talk very clearly and straight to the point. English is my second language. Thank you.
I love this video thank you I just watched a video by a “skincare expert “ who said not to use retinol near your eyes or lids because the skin is so thin so retinols are to harsh for that area 🤦♀️ I think I will stick with your advice 🥰
@@sophcanilIs this the first time you are using it in that area bc that reaction is normal in the beginning. If you watch the video, he talks about starting slow bc the skin needs to get used to it. Also, you might need one that is very low concentrated. I personally started with differin gel and that one has a concentration of 0.1% of a retinoid.
I have a question. Say you're going on vacation and it''s inevitable that you're going to be in the sun all day for a week. Would it be wise to take a break from retinol before the trip to decrease sensitivity to sun damage? And then resume the retinol when you get home?
Great information, however I noticed you promoting your brand. Your markup on your product, is high. Prescription tren is 3.25 for a tube at the pharmacy
I love that you fully understand ingredients. Most surgeons don’t pay attention to the ingredient side of products. Surgeons create such beauty with a scalpel…but understanding how to care & treat the skin after is what separates you from other surgeons. Your clients will not only look younger but their skin will radiate. What platform do you sell the Trifecta…so curious to see what’s inside your creation. Cheers Kelly
I love tret. In 3 years it has changed my skin 100% for the good. I look 5 years younger than I did 3 yrs ago. Definitely get use to it around eyes. Got rid of all my crows feet. I'm 40.
This video by far is the best that I have seen regarding retionol usage. I've been reluctant about using retinol as I have sensitive skin but now I have all the information. Thank you Dr. Amir Karam 💖
You can protect your lips and corners of your mouth and the corners of your nose with vaseline too. I also used cicaplast cream on the areas that felt really irritated the first couple of weeks along with a moisturizer that didn't have any actives and a higher spf sun screen.
I’m happy to see you recommend a zinc sunscreen as a preferred option. As someone with melasma it seems to be the only type that keeps my skin from darkening

The ghost of acne past is saying to me, “you should be thanking us for causing you to get on tretinoin at age 27.” Had this information been available to me when I first began using tretinoin, I would have never had to go through that awful purging stage. I still have a little acne scars as a result but not only is my acne clear but I still do not have any fine lines or wrinkles at the ripe young age of 40.
@@remahb2217 my routine is a bit “extra” but I work from home. I don’t mind being extra because my skin care routine is literally my favorite part of my day as I find it relaxes me. But in the mornings I cleanse my face, I use a vitamin c toner, a vitamin c serum along with a drop of CO-Q10 serum, then I let it dry, I use my prescription azelaic acid gel, let it dry, I then use a Avene’s RetriNAL bakuchoil serum (this is not a retinol), moisturizer with 2 drops of vitamin C oil, I do a mini face massage and then I apply my sunscreen (elta md spf 46 tinted mineral). At night I double cleanse with an oil cleanser, then a gel-based gentle cleanser, orange blossom water toner, peptide serum, let it dry, a niacinimide serum, let it dry for 30 minutes, then I use my tretinoin (I’m at 0.01% now) and moisturizer and I top it off with a little aloe vera gel. This routine may be too much for some people but this works for me, my skin is wrinkle free and I only have a break out or two when my period is coming or if I’ve been eating too much dairy (which is ice cream for me in the summer). On the weekends I’ll exfoliate and when I’m exfoliating, I don’t use tretinoin. I’ll exfoliate with a glycolic acid mask and/or a glycolic acid serum.
@@Thoth19 I had my first professional chemical peel back in March followed by a micro needling in May and that helped my scars a lot. IT IS WORTH TO WATCH THE FULL VIDEO . I’m working in a retail and sometimes they assigned me to maintain the beauty products . Great info! Currently, I’m using PCA 0.5% pure retinol night. And C&E advanced antioxidant treatment. I have been using it for two weeks so far. Happy with results. I am a new subscriber very happy that I found your channel. Thank you!😄
Yo creía que el retinol irritaba el area de los ojos y no lo aplicaba ahí, pero en verdad mis arrugas ahí empezaron a notarse demasiado y lo comencé a aplicar, fue un cambio drástico en tres dias!! Es increíble
I’ve been using retinol for years and now in my mid-fifties, everyone says my skin looks awesome. No wrinkles at all and very young skin. People doesn’t believe my age. I don’t do those laser thing or visiting dermatologists. Although you have to endure the process for a few days, but the results are worth it. I have sensitive skin. So I don’t use it everyday. Only once a white. My older sister is envious of my skin.
FYI...I also use prescription retin A on the back of my hands arms and fine lines around the knees and it really helps..yes the knees get lines there too...also my chest lines at 61 have completely disappeared...and that is no exaggeration. I will never be without it.
I work in an eye clinic and was told and have read that retinol destroys the meibomian glands and causes dry eye disease, so you should avoid using it around the eyes. What are your thoughts?
I agree with that in regards to full strength retinol! You eyes are skin too so you should be able to nourish that skin as well. There are many products formulated for use on those sensitive areas.
I started on Retin-A when I was 12 or 13, I'm 35 now, and I've been 98% consistent throughout that time. I've always looked my age, until around 25, in those 10 years, I've barely noticed any signs of aging. I'd objectively say I look 25-28. Retin-A is amazing. Thank goodness I had acne when I was young (never thought I'd say that!), it got me ahead of the game! I'm glad to hear that putting it under my eyes is okay because I've been doing that anyway 😂...
Best advice and thank you so much doctor. I follow all your instructions carefully and I feel happy about it. I am 87 years old and people don't believe my age. I also exercise daily. Thank you so much doctor. USA
I heard a dermatologist say that hyaluronic acid makes your skin dry by pulling moisture out of your skin because it doesn't go into the epidermis (skin) instead it draws out the moisture that you have in the skin. I do love retinol. She explains it so well. Better than I did & it made sense that this is what it will do. I noticed to body lotion drys out my skin if I use hyaluronic acid in spots. Now I know the reason behind it.
I like that your videos centre around the same few points - I always get re-motivated to continue on w my retinol when I see your videos ! Thank you and keep making videos like this !

Thanks a lot, these tips are quite valuable. I was using retinol every other day at night. I'm 50 and I had no negative effect but just reverse on my skin. Recently an aestetician told me about Retinol can damage under skin barrier. Now I listened to you and back to my rutine ❤🙏

Can you tell us how much of retinal that we should use? I've heard it from some people and dermatologists say that to use a pea size on your face every time when you use it, is it true? Or should I use more or less that that? And also, what time that should we put on separately if we wanna use Glycolic Acid, Vitamin C, and Retinol? And maybe also Salicylic Acid?
There should be clear instructions with whatever retinoid you're 😮using. If it's tretinoin, it's indeed a pea size. It's been way too long since I used an OTC retinol, I don't remember how much they said. I used Maelove retinaldehyde and used enough to cover my face. It's in liquid form. I use Curology now, you use 1 full pump. To use vitamin c, glycolic or salicylic, use those in the AM, the retinoid in the PM. Vitamin C can be used with glycolic or lactic, as long as it doesn't cause irritation. I wouldn't incorporate salicylic acid with all of them, particularly in the PM with a retinoid. If I used salicylic in the AM, I'd only use vitamin c as long as it didn't cause irritation. Niacinamide helps reduce irritation, redness and peeling that can happen with using harsh skincare, particularly retinoids.
Thank you for a great skin school video Dr. Karam. I am so glad you did this video as Vit. I used Retin A (Dermalogica) for over two years every night. The first month at 0.1 and then 0.3. I moisturised afterwards, but saw no noticeable effect. Dermologica then raised it to 0.5 after 18 months. I used it on the back of my left hand consistently too at the same time so I could measure its effect, but no difference there either. Dermologica do say not to use it around the eyes. I've not used it for six months now.

I love this video! It was so informative. I knew nothing about retinol before and had recently started looking into it because I want a more youthful and healthy looking skin. I do have some questions that I think weren't answered: 1. Can you use retinol on other parts of your skin like neck, shoulders, top of hands.. etc? 2. If you do experience the reactions mentions, are we supposed to continue using retinol on the inflamed skin? Or do wait for it to subside and restart again? Thank you!!
I would love it if you would discuss the differences between retin-a as a synthetic vitamin A and how retinol is typically from natural vitamin A. Studies always interchange these both as the same product but I prefer as a Med esthetician to only use and encourage uses of non toxic ingredients. Therefore, I recommend a line with natural retinols. I have heard damaging effects from retin-a and would love to hear your take on this. Thank you
@@mashtires1848 no it’s a different molecule than a Retinol but is retinol not absorbed as well as Tretinoin . RX Retin A (tretinoin is generic) is much better product for your money
There is no such thing as toxic ingredients, that’s just false marketing by “natural” based skincare companies to sell you their products instead. Tretnoin (brand name Retina) is the most studied and proven ingredient to actually make a difference when it comes to anti-aging with little to no side affects other than initial irritation.
They are great to use together but introduce them slowly- make sure to use daily SPF and reapply, make sure to keep your skin moisturized, and if your skin is irritated then slow down your usage.
How about 10% Glycolic Acid as part of one’s nightly routine? I alternate between GA and a retinol serum which means I’m not getting the benefits of retinol nightly. Thoughts? Thank you!
Thank you doc for the detailed explanation 👍 I have just started using Retinol from last one week and would definitely follow your mantra of Slow and steady wins the race 😊
Such high value information. I will be taking a Botox & Fillers course on Nov.2 & 3. I'm a LPN and have tons of friends and family who are looking forward to being models for me! Thank you Dr. Karam...great video! Cheers, Jane
I used Retinol for about 10 - 11 months. During that time, I noticed my skin appeared darker and duller. There was a small dark wrinkle by my mouth that I became self-conscious about and it only happened while using retinol. Took Kojic acid to get rid of the imperfections caused by retinol. I didn't want to give up though, since my skin wasn't painful or irritating, it wasn't red or blemished, but I just looked like a worse version of myself. If you're not seeing anything good happening after 3 months, then of course you wouldn't go a whole year lol I used Vitamin C serum and got results in 5 days. It knocked off about a year worth of skin damage in under a week. Sticking with Vitamin C!
@user-tm1so5yd7s Right!? It's not like it gets darker and then peels... It literally just creates more pigmentation, which is what we don't want. I recommend Vitamin C if your skin is anything like mine.
Ahh same! I got rid of melasma for years and using retinol for two weeks and i saw the moustache 😮 Thought it was bad lighting😂 And there is no sun here only clouds and rain as we have in the netherlands 😂😂 so that was not it.
@Maybeiwillmaybeiwont Ohh noo not the mustache! lol Even when I skip sunscreen it seems like constant vitamin c use keeps my skin lightened and clear. Retinol + sunlight = hyperpigmentation

Does it works on hands?
I mean can retinol get rid of creepy skin on hands?

Love 💗 the education here. It really assists people with making wiser decisions, and saving $ as well.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.
What is the product you are using?
@1Goddess76 which particular retinol did you use please?
Yes, I would like to know as well.
How often did you use?
You are right, and I use those online tretinoin, just use glycerine to add moisture and prevent irritation. It does work wonders!

So happy to hear you incorporated Retinol early on in your skincare journey. Keep it up!

Question:
Do you use it around the eye areas?
I’ve been using low dose about twice a week for the past 6 months. No reds or irritation for me, but since day one I noticed that the days I use retinol cream my eyes feel dry and uncomfortable. I’ve also seen comments under YT videos about using retinol and causing permanent dry eyes (when I was looking up information to decide if I am going to try), however there are more videos in which doctors demonstrate applying retinol cream on the Whole Face including eye areas… this has prevented me to use retinol on a higher frequency…

Thank you so much for educating us on Retinol. It is so excellent to hear from a Dr about skin. I am so tired of influencers talking about skin care which I never listen to it. I only listen to Dr because they study this stuff for years. I appreciate you taking your time and teaching us about looking young.
Same! And often is very young influencers that have no aging yet giving advice on anti age.
I agree with you
Nice One...am very thankful learning a lot of beauty tips. God bless you ❤️❤️❤️

There are plenty of real, specialist doctors making fantastic videos to post on this site. Ignore the influencers, naturopaths, chiropractors, etc.
I don’t get your point.
Learning a lot from your skin school and loving it!
if wary, try putting a thin layer of vaseline first, then retinol on top.
Same here, but when I put it on my eyelids I get bad irritation. I've read some people who say to use a lower concentration on these areas as the skin is thinner so prone to irritation. Or mix with moisturiser. Same with neck.
@@sharonalbanese8084I use glycerine to help with moisture. So I don’t get the irritation under my eye anymore!

Thanks. I trust.

Love that you've found a routine that works well for you. Keep it up!
Can you please tell when do you use vit E at night with retin or day?...

Hi! Do you use retin-a around the eyes?
@@marciaterra5287 Not specifically around my eyes, but I'm sure some of it migrates there.
I've tried using it on my neck. Got a rash. My face handles it well.
I cycle ... one night 0.3%, one night 1%, sandwiched between multi peptide serum and moisturiser.

My dermatologist recommends another micro needling session for me in the fall and for now she says I’ll be fine with just micro needling and chemical peels because I’m not battling any other issues such as loss of elasticity, sagging, etc.
I am from India. Thank you Dr. for sharing valuable content on Retinol. The best part is that you cover every aspect of any Active in detail which is easy for us to understand and implement 👏👏. I tried using but had skin flakyness and dryness due to which I stopped but after watching your video I am inspired to start my Retinol journey again with all the Do's and Don'ts you have mentioned. Thank you so much again ❤
Which retinol do u use?
This has been so informative! You hit on almost every question I have about Retinal. You made this so clear and concise - thank you!! 💜💜💜
Sending ❤️🥰..how are you doing? If you don't mind asking are you single?🥰
I use Tretnoin and place pure Hemp oil on top. My face has been enjoying it.
IT IS WORTH TO WATCH THE FULL VIDEO . I’m working in a retail and sometimes they assigned me to maintain the beauty products . So many brands and seeing those products really confusing just like what you just said vitamin c and retinol were not compatible to use at the same time . We really need the knowledge like this before we use any products .
Thanks for watching!
Very informative discussion. Thank you Amir. You have covered all the questions I had for the last 7 years
Me too!!! So grateful he covered it with such depth!
Thanks you so much for making these videos. I learn so much about what, why and how, which will make all the difference ❤
I love this man! He always puts out such great information!
Me too ! He makes me laugh !
I love your vlogs. Even though I've always have strong and consistent skin care routine. I always learn something new from you. Thank you.
I use Neutrogena Retinol then I drop it bcoz I don’t feel my skin getting better but since I watched your Do’s and Don’ts I will go back using it and just have patience.❤
Great info! Currently, I’m using PCA 0.5% pure retinol night. And C&E advanced antioxidant treatment. I have been using it for two weeks so far. Happy with results. I am a new subscriber very happy that I found your channel. Thank you!😄
Where did you get your retinol?
Yo creía que el retinol irritaba el area de los ojos y no lo aplicaba ahí, pero en verdad mis arrugas ahí empezaron a notarse demasiado y lo comencé a aplicar, fue un cambio drástico en tres dias!! Es increíble
Mr too . Dr Dennis Gross has a great skin care line who's also a dermatologist
Que marca de retinol usas ?
I’ve been using retinol for years and now in my mid-fifties, everyone says my skin looks awesome. No wrinkles at all and very young skin. People doesn’t believe my age. I don’t do those laser thing or visiting dermatologists. Although you have to endure the process for a few days, but the results are worth it. I have sensitive skin. So I don’t use it everyday. Only once a white. My older sister is envious of my skin.
Thanks for sharing!!
What products do you use?
FYI...I also use prescription retin A on the back of my hands arms and fine lines around the knees and it really helps..yes the knees get lines there too...also my chest lines at 61 have completely disappeared...and that is no exaggeration. I will never be without it.
I’ve watched two of your videos. Thank you for taking the time to explain all of this. I’m over 50. I really do appreciate your expertise.
Happy to help! Thanks for watching :)
Im 75 look 60...really...
its hard to believe
Best advice and thank you so much doctor. I follow all your instructions carefully and I feel happy about it. I am 87 years old and people don't believe my age. I also exercise daily. Thank you so much doctor. USA
AMAZING Video! Couldn’t agree more! I have trouble working other actives into my routine because Retin -A rules!🙌🏼
You explained everything so clearly and thoroughly! Thank you so much!❤
I heard a dermatologist say that hyaluronic acid makes your skin dry by pulling moisture out of your skin because it doesn't go into the epidermis (skin) instead it draws out the moisture that you have in the skin. I do love retinol. She explains it so well. Better than I did & it made sense that this is what it will do. I noticed to body lotion drys out my skin if I use hyaluronic acid in spots. Now I know the reason behind it.
Yup it dried me out and created fine lines
You MUST apply hyaluronic acid to damp skin
@@nansilynneven on damp skin it lowkey dries me out. 😅 I heard the marine hyaluronics from the ordinary doesn't do that .
Dear Dr.Karam, Thank you very much for this very useful information! You are very inspirational!🤩
I like that your videos centre around the same few points - I always get re-motivated to continue on w my retinol when I see your videos ! Thank you and keep making videos like this !
So happy to hear that! Keep up the routine!
So true! Late to the game but for 2 yrs have been using Scrip Retin A daily( .05 then 1 this year). Never had side effects. Im 70,fair and all sun damage is gone and skin is glowing😊. If only i could afford a little restoration😂 i am a Spf 50 addict now🎉
Hello my dear 😊
How are you doing? waiting for your answer pls
Thank you Dr. You are my favorite online Dermatologist ! Very intelligent advice.
Pls recommend retinol for 60 years skin
Hello Dr Karam,
I would like your opinion on mixing bakuchiol and retinol at night and using bakuchiol during the day too. Is it a good thing?
Thank you for the education! I just started using 0.025% tretinoin cream again. But we are going to travel for a month, I am planning to stop using it during travel due to the intense sun exposure. Your thoughts? Thank you!
Thanks a lot, these tips are quite valuable. I was using retinol every other day at night. I'm 50 and I had no negative effect but just reverse on my skin. Recently an aestetician told me about Retinol can damage under skin barrier. Now I listened to you and back to my rutine ❤🙏
The correct spelling of "rutine" is "routine". Just thought you might want to know. Have a great day!
Sending ❤️🥰..how are you doing? If you don't mind asking are you single?🥰
@@bonblue4993Thanks, I know how it's spelled but the keyboard changes my writing as I use both English or Turkish sometimes. So the keyboard confused that word English or Turkish. Thanks again.
By far one of the best and most informed surgeons I have found and constantly follow. I live in London and I truly hope I can get my upper ad lower blefaroplasty done with him at some point. he's amazing!!!! thank you. Ivan
My pleasure! Thank you for following along.
Im 50 and ive been using retinol since 40 and honestly, I dont look my age at all but I also stay out of the sun too.
C serum is something I like to use and I've just gotten my first Trifecta order and I was wondering about my Vit. C so I am very happy I don't have to worry about that. Of course I will share this with the ladies in my family and my friends too and I do most of the time anyway. Thanks again because now I can just give the many skincare products I have to someone else or donate them to the Ladies Center. I am now using only three steps. Thank you so much again Dr. Karam.
Thank you so much for your kind words & support! Customers like you are what bring KaramMD Skin to life
I loved when I heard you saying “use every day “ thanks
I've used retinol about three years. I can see my skin has really improved. It is smoother, looks younger.
I am feeling in live with you, just because watching your video, such an incredible information to a common man, JazakAllah; I am a Muslim lady from Pakistan, I am 61 now, I am beauty conscious, but I was not clearly informed and education about proper skin care routine, but now I am confident to start my skin care routine, thank you so much, kindly advise any good anti-aging moisturizer cream to use with retinol at night.
STOP using moisturiser with it - kills the effects!
Use it straight on the skin.
Moisturiser the NEXT DAY.
@@Thoth19 Dermalogica instruct to put it directly in the skin at nighttime, yes, but tell users to put moisturiser over it after it's been on the skin for 10 minutes.
I love this video! It was so informative. I knew nothing about retinol before and had recently started looking into it because I want a more youthful and healthy looking skin. I do have some questions that I think weren't answered:
Thank you
Are you also referring to prescription tretinoin? Is that bad?
No damage from Retin A.
@@mashtires1848 no it’s a different molecule than a Retinol but is retinol not absorbed as well as Tretinoin . RX Retin A (tretinoin is generic) is much better product for your money
@staceysears Which natural alternatives would you recommend?
There is no such thing as toxic ingredients, that’s just false marketing by “natural” based skincare companies to sell you their products instead. Tretnoin (brand name Retina) is the most studied and proven ingredient to actually make a difference when it comes to anti-aging with little to no side affects other than initial irritation.
How is it to use niacinamide with retinol
They are great to use together but introduce them slowly- make sure to use daily SPF and reapply, make sure to keep your skin moisturized, and if your skin is irritated then slow down your usage.
Very appreciative of your time. Your skin looks great, by the way.
Thank you :)
This was great, thank you for explaining everything so perfectly!
Dr. Amir I love your job and the transaction is Excellent 😊❤
Retinol makes my melasma darker too!!! Nobody talks about it!!!!
@user-tm1so5yd7s Right!? It's not like it gets darker and then peels... It literally just creates more pigmentation, which is what we don't want. I recommend Vitamin C if your skin is anything like mine.
Ahh same!
I got rid of melasma for years and using retinol for two weeks and i saw the moustache 😮
Thought it was bad lighting😂
And there is no sun here only clouds and rain as we have in the netherlands 😂😂
so that was not it.
@Maybeiwillmaybeiwont Ohh noo not the mustache! lol Even when I skip sunscreen it seems like constant vitamin c use keeps my skin lightened and clear. Retinol + sunlight = hyperpigmentation
Thank you so much! As usual, you find a very clear and simple way to explain the key moments. Absolutely totally useful and motivating! 🧡
You are so welcome! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
